Shalom everyone, God bless you. Welcome to our Bible classes, the Bible classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel. We are so happy that you are able to study with us the Word of God and we are so thankful, so blessed by the Lord to be able to learn from the Word of God and to be occupied with our Mashiach, our Messiah, the Lord Yeshua, Jesus, who loved us and gave himself for us. And how wonderful it is to learn from his word, from the word of God, and seek to grow in the grace and inner knowledge of our Lord Jesus, the Messiah. We are going to begin with the study of the eighth chapter of the book of Romans.

Romans chapter 8 verses 12 onwards. So hopefully you have your Bibles open. Please open to Romans chapter 8. Let's pray together and ask the Lord to bless the meeting for today. So our God and our Father, we just want to thank you that we can pray together, that we can be under the sound of your word. Bless your word as we study together from Romans chapter 8. Name. Amen. Amen. So please turn with me to Romans chapter 8, beloved brothers and sisters, and I'm going to read from verse 12 and onward. Romans chapter 8 and verse 12. The apostle Paul writing to the Roman believers and he says to the brethren, in verse 8 he says, to live after the flesh.

For if we live after the flesh, if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die. But if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to feed, But ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, our Father, or our Abba. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirits that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. That we may be also glorified together.

So here we are. I read these verses from Romans chapter 8, and I began today with verse 12 and read all the way to verse 17. Now again, beloved brothers and sisters, we are in the section, in really the third section of the study of the book of Romans, This is such an important book of Romans that the theme of that book, of course, is the righteousness of God. And because we have all sinned, we needed a Savior. So the Lord Jesus, God the Son, the Messiah of Israel, the Savior of this world, came down to this world, died for our sins, and then washed our sins away of a redeemed company the assembly the church the ecclesia and now that we are forgiven and are delivered and are saved we are now called to live a sanctified life and so in Romans chapter 6 7 and 8 where we are in this section the theme of course is sanctification and this thought of sanctification began from chapter.

6 verse 1 and it will conclude in chapter 8 and verse 31 and the section that we are now finding ourselves in Roman chapter 8 verses 1 really to 17 is the thought of no condemnation the believer is no longer condemned why because we are in Christ in a Mashiach in a Messiah in the Lord Jesus Christ and because we're in him and again it is on the basis of his finished work on the cross he died for our offenses he was raised for our justification and because we have trusted in him there is no longer any condemnation because we are in Christ Jesus in the Mashiach Yeshua now because we are in him we are called to live for him we are not in heaven yet we are here on earth here on earth we oftentimes fail the.

Oftentimes we walk in the flesh in the power of the old nature and we stumble and we fall and the time we sin and yet we are called not to live a sinful life but to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and that's why the apostle once and again is emphasizing the need to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and so in that Romans 6, 7, and 8, we have the theme of sanctification. The Hebrew word for sanctification, mekudashim, or lehit kadesh, means to be setting apart our life for the Lord. And the only way that we will be able to set apart our life for the Lord is when we are occupied with the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and allow the Holy Spirit of God to guide us.

Romans chapter 8 is such an important chapter because in Romans chapter 8 you find some 19 times the word Spirit. The Holy Spirit of God is again and again and again mentioned because it is only through the Spirit of God that we are able to live a godly life. And we did say that in verses 1 to 4 we have freedom from judgment. From defeat. We don't have to live a defeated life. Now, sadly, we do a time, live a defeated life, when we do not allow the Spirit of God to guide us and to lead us on. And because we allow the flesh to take control over our life, we are living a defeated life.

Many times, we know it, and we know many believers that don't have victory in their life because they are believers. It's not an issue of salvation here, but it is an issue of our fellowship. The Lord and allowing the Spirit of God to guide us and because the Spirit of God is the the person who gives us power to live for God he is enabling us to live a victorious life and what does the Spirit of God do? He will take of Christ of the Messiah and will show it unto us and the more we are occupied with the Lord Jesus the glorified Messiah we are able to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord and you show me we show each other an individual that is walking in the Spirit you will see a person that is living for the Lord here in this world so now that we have covered these verses five onward we have learned that we are freed from defeat we don't need to be defeated.

We are no longer in the flesh. We are no longer living a deadly life. We are no longer at war with God. We are no longer pleasing the flesh. We can please the Lord as we allow the Spirit of God to lead us. We also have learned that the believers really, because we have the Holy Spirit of God indwelling us, we are able to live for the Lord. And in verses 12 to verse 17, The Apostle Paul emphasized that the Holy Spirit of God is the one that is able to lead the believer to live a victorious life. And so notice, if you just for a moment turn with me to Psalm 116, and in Psalm 116, we have this very interesting verse.

In verse 16, of Psalm 116 we have this statement that the psalmist of Israel said in verse 16 he says oh Lord truly i am your servant i am your servant i am thy servant and i am the son of thine handmaids and notice what he said at the end of verse 16. He loosed my bonds. In Hebrew, patachta li mosarai. Bonds, mosarim is like chains, the chaining a person and enabling him, or I should say, do not enable him to live for God, to do anything when you are chained in your feet, in your legs, in your hands, and so on. And what happens is you are not able to walk, to move but the psalmist of Israel who of course was a child of God a believer in the God of Israel he said Lord i'm your servant and you have loosened my bonds you have opened up for me in Hebrew means simply bonds that chained that chained me well what happened to us because we have trusted the law in the Lord Jesus the Messiah.

Have been loosed from the bond or that we chained us and did not allow us to live for God. That's why Galatians 5 tells us walk in the Spirit and you don't have to walk in the lust of the flesh because if you will walk in the power of the Spirit of God, allowing the Spirit of God to guide you, you will be able to live a victorious life. And that's why in verse 12 of our chapter in Romans 8, said to the Romans, he says, therefore, brethren, we are not debtors or we are debtors not to the flesh to live after the flesh. You see, we are no longer owing the old sin nature anything.

We do not owe the old sinful nature to allow him to control our life. Why? Are indwelt by the Holy Spirit of God, by God the Holy Spirit, Elohim Haruach, and God the Holy Spirit is a divine person. If you remember, if you just go back to verse 9 of Romans 8, Spirit of God dwell in you you see the Spirit of God is indwelling every believer and we belong to God we are no longer in the flesh we are in Christ and under the guidance and the power of the Holy Spirit of God it said at the end of verse 9 now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ he is none of his in other words the unbeliever he or she do not have the person of the Holy.

Spirit of God indwelling them because they are not born of the Spirit. They do not have this new nature, the divine nature. The Spirit of God do not indwell in them. In order that the Spirit of God will indwell anyone, one must accept the way of salvation through the Lord Jesus the Messiah, who said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one come to the Father but by me. The holy Spirit of God and we are called to be led by the Spirit of God and as long that we lead that the Spirit of God is leading us we have to realize that he is able to cause us to live a victorious life in verse 12 i'm emphasizing this again beloved brothers and sisters it says in verse 12 that we are not anymore obligated to live in the flesh.

We are not debtors anymore to the flesh. And the flesh, whenever you read the word flesh, it always has to do with the old nature. He doesn't speak about the meat that is on the bones in our body, no. This world the nature that we receive from our parents who receive from their parents who receive their nature from their parents and all the way from Adam and Eve who became sinners when they disobeyed God so we are no longer debtors to the flesh we don't have to live in sin we don't have to live after the flesh we do not have to live a life that is dishonoring to the Lord can live a life that is honoring to the Lord.

Now, mind you, we know from Romans chapter 7 that Paul already spoke of himself, and he said concerning himself, if you remember, the things that I do not want to do, that's I do. And the things that I want to do, these things I don't do. And he was struggling within himself, and he said at the end, if you remember of Romans 7, 24, he said. Wretched man that i am he didn't say all wretched man that i was before he became believer he said all wretched man that i am here and now as a believer the old nature is wretched and miserable and he said who shall deliver me out of this body of death and the only one that could be deliver him out of the body of death this is the Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah and the power of the Spirit of God so there is a conflict There is the old nature, there is the new nature.

There is the flesh, there is the Spirit. There is the outward man and there is the inward man. There is the old man and there is the new man. There is the natural man and there is the spiritual man. There is the human nature and there is the divine nature. All these words are mentioned to us in the word of God. Old nature, Romans 7, 14. The flesh, John 3, 6. The outward man, 2 Corinthians 4, 16. The old man, Colossians 3, 9. The natural man, 1 Corinthians 2, 14. The human nature, Ephesians 2 and verse 3. And it is the same thing when it's come to this new nature. 1 John 3 and verse 9. We do have, beloved brothers and sisters, a new nature.

A nature that cannot sin and a nature that is a divine nature. The spiritual man, 2nd Corinthians 2, the divine nature, 2nd Peter 1. We have these, you might say, distinct natures, and these are contrary to one, one to another. And that's why here we learn that the brethren, he says, we are not debtors. We are not debtors anymore to live after the flesh. Brethren, we are debtors. Not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. That's what Paul is saying to the Roman believers in verse 12. Now he continues now in verse 13. And you notice in verse 13, the apostle Paul said, if we live after the flesh, we shall die.

What does he mean when he says that? Verse 13, if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die. But if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. What does he mean when he says that? Of course, remember that he's speaking to believers. That's why he used the word ye and we. Ye, the believers at Rome. We, that is us, believers, Paul and those that were with him. In other words, he's speaking to believers here in verse 13, of Romans, we could see that he spoke about the fact that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. He said in chapter 5, we have peace with God.

And in chapter 6 of Romans, he says, shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. So he's speaking to believers, but believers, although they have eternal life, but here and now believers can. You might say, beloved brothers and sisters, live a life that is so dishonoring to the Lord that they are dead in a sense of having no fellowship with the Lord. Their joy will not be there. Their spiritual growth will not be there. The evidence of the enjoyment of the things of God will not be there nature in the flesh and that's why he's saying to them in verse 13 he said if ye live after the flesh ye shall die now the the thought here to die is to die in a sense of having no fellowship with the Lord and every time when we live after the flesh live in sin as believers it's not an issue of our salvation because our salvation is sure but it is an issue of our life in relationship with the Lord here and now today and therefore our fellowship with the Lord is not there because.

Will of the Lord we cannot enjoy fellowship with the Lord now just to emphasize that i would like you to turn to first John chapter 1 and notice what we read in first John the epistle of John chapter 1 and verse 6 John is writing now to the assemblies to whom he wrote to the family of God he says in John in first John chapter 1 the epistle and verse 6 if we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in darkness we lie in the truth and do not the truth you cannot say that you have fellowship with God and then live in darkness you know you cannot live like this and have fellowship with God because we don't say the truth.

Verse 7 says, if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sins. You see, the apostle John, when he wrote to the believers, he says, listen, he realized that the time we go out of fellowship because we, at times, sadly, and it does happen in the life of God's people, because we, We don't see of anyone really who lived the perfect life. The only one who lived the perfect life is the Lord Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, but all others. Even the greatest servants of all that we have recorded for us in the Word of God, all if they are honest and they are, they say we have failed the Lord here and there in our life.

But to say that we have fellowship with the Lord and walk in darkness, really we lie. And then if we walk, as it says here in verse 7, if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we do have fellowship with one another. And the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all sin. Why? Because sin does come, appears in our life from time to time because of our sin nature is still within us. But the same blood that washes away once and for all our sins when we have accepted the Lord Mashiach that cleanses us on an ongoing basis and allows us, beloved brothers and sisters, to enjoy fellowship with the Lord.

And if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1 and verse 8. So let's go back to our chapter, beloved brothers and sisters. And here in our chapter, in Romans chapter 8 and verse 13. The apostle Paul said for if ye live after the flesh ye shall die meaning that you will not have fruit for God I will not have fruit for God because it's just not possible to walk after the old sin nature which is the flesh the old nature when we live after and only after the flesh we will not have fellowship that expression we or ye shall die Paul does not speak about losing salvation obviously not because Jesus the Messiah did not save people who are perfect he saved sinners but our Enjoyment of fellowship is by the wayside, and we need to be restored to Him.

And that's why always it is so important for us always to come to the throne of grace and to repent before the Lord and say to the Lord, Lord, I have failed you, I have sinned again. And then the Lord, the blood of Jesus Christ, God's Son, cleanses us from all sins. The relationship the fellowship with the Lord it is precious especially when you think about in the world in which we live in where there are so many sadly who do not enjoy the fellowship with the Lord and a time it is happening in our life and how God desired to have a restoration to our fellowship with the Lord if we live after the flesh if you live after the flesh he shall die but notice but if ye through the Spirit notice it's the Holy Spirit of God through the Holy Spirit of God you will mortify that expression here in the Greek mortify simply means put to death to in Hebrew tamitu or tamit to put to death to mortify the deeds of the body ye shall live you will have a fellowship with the Lord once again.

Now that expression, mortify, is found also in the book of Colossians. Turn with me to Colossians chapter 3. And when Paul wrote to the Colossians believers in chapter 3, Paul said to the Colossians in chapter 3 and verses 5 to 10 these words. Listen to that. Colossians chapter 3 verses 5 to 10. Paul who wrote to the believers at Colossae is telling them the very same thing that he said, what he said to the believers at Romans. He's saying to them in Colossians chapter 3 and he's saying to them in verse 5, mortify, notice the same word, mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth. Such as fornication uncleanness inordinate affection evil desires covetousness which is idolatry for which things the sake the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience in which he also walked some time when he lived in them but now notice this he's speaking today Colossians believers he said now he also put off all these and he's using this expression anger and wrath and malice and blasphemy and filthy communication out of your mouth lie not one to another seeing that he have put of the old man with his deed and they have put on the new man which is renewed in the knowledge after the image of him that created him notice what we read beloved brothers and sisters in this passage in Colossians chapter 3 verses 5 to 10 notice he said in verse 5 mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth but then at the same time he's saying a little bit later on he said.

In verse 10, ye have put on the new man, which reneweth in a knowledge after the image of him that created him. In other words, you have now put on this new man, the new nature that we have been speaking about, and we have already put off positionally the old man already, but practically. Mortify. Mortify means practically put to death the members which are upon the earth and he gives us that list. And the list is amazing: fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desires, covetousness, which is idolatry, but it doesn't stop there. To say also not only immorality but also he says in verse 8 anger and wrath and malice and blasphemy filthy communication and so on and you know that these things are popping up in the life of God's people and we need the grace of God with the help of the Spirit of God to put them off we cannot do it on our own we try a time and we don't it just not successful, the Holy Spirit of God has been given unto us to help us.

And it's always good to realize that he is our helper. He is ready to help us and assist us. That's why he is called the paracletos, the one that is coming alongside to help the people of God. From these two verses that we do not have any longer obligation to live after the flesh. We don't have to live, although many times, sadly, we do. Secondly, we also learn from this verse 13 that if we will live after the flesh, we cannot enjoy the Lord. We will never be able to enjoy God. We will never be able to enjoy the Messiah, when we allow the flesh to control our life.

We will never be able to enjoy spiritual life when we don't allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead us. And that's why the verses that we find ourselves in today, beloved brothers and sisters, verses 12 to 17, of God has been given unto us and he's indwelling us and he's able to help the believers to walk a godly life. Now how did the Old Testament or the people of Israel in days of all live the godly life? Well they live a godly life just the same like you and I are called to live a godly life today. They did not have the. Dwelling of the Holy Spirit, but they surely had the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Although the Holy Spirit did not indwell them because the church age did not have a beginning as yet. The Messiah hasn't come as yet. The Messiah Yeshua didn't die and was buried and rose again as yet. The church age has not begun as yet. The Hebrews of old the Jewish people in days of old and even beyond them like Adam and like Enoch who walk with God and like noah who walk with God and like Avraham Yitzhak Yaakov and then Israel Yosef and so on they walk with God because when they were in tune with God it was the holy Spirit of God them he came upon them to guide them and to lead them but we live in a unique age that the Spirit of God indwelling in the believer and we are part of the assembly the church the ecclesia in a unique age and this unique age is the privilege that believers have today is not only that the Spirit of God comes upon God's.

People, but the Spirit of God indwelling God's people and guiding God's people today. It is the same Ruach Ha'Elohim, the same Holy Spirit. It is the same God of the universe. It is the same God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We don't have a different God, but we live in a different dispensation, different oikonomia, different economy of the church age, and the Spirit of God is indwelling every true believer and guiding him or her today. So, because the Spirit of God is within us, and because the Spirit of God wants to lead us to live for the Lord, we don't have to live anymore according to the will of the flesh.

We don't have to allow, we are not debtors to the flesh anymore, and we also have to realize that if we will not allow the Spirit of God to lead us. We will die in a sense of we will have no fellowship with the Lord. It is not possible to enjoy the Lord and live in the flesh, in our own self sinful will. And that is what the Apostle Paul is emphasizing here. Now notice this. The Spirit of God does for us. In these verses, the Apostle Paul is emphasizing what the Spirit of God does for us, which helps us to have spiritual growth. We are called to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

Well, how do we grow? How do we grow spiritually? Sometimes we look at the brother and we look at the sister who says, boy, this brother is a spiritual minded brother. This sister is a spiritual minded sister. She is growing. He is growing. They are growing in the Lord. They know the word. They conduct themselves in a right way. They are sharing the gospel. They are ministering the word of God. They are assisting the saints of God. They are always using the gifts that the Lord has given to them to be a help to God's people. They are spiritual minded. Well, where do you think they receive that?

Well, again, it is the person of the Holy Spirit of God who work it out in his own power in the heart of the believer. The Messiah was in the upper room he said to the brethren in the upper room in Yerushalayim to these apostles in the land of Israel he's saying to them I will go to the Father I'm going to go to the Father and I will send the Holy Spirit of God to guide you into all truth and the Holy Spirit of God is another comforter mine and he will show it unto you and you know what attract us to the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah is because of the way in which he lived his life yes he died for us and he was buried and he rose again but in his life he was the meekest man on earth he was the one who humbled himself and became.

Obedient and his obedience took him to the shameful cross when God looked from heaven and he saw the man Yeshua Hamashiach the man Christ Jesus when he looked at him he saw the perfect man the man of God's counsel the man that pleased God in everything that he did here on earth so we have to learn from him virtue because of him in the help of the Spirit of God we can look at one another when we are walking with the Lord and we can be a help to one another as well as we see one another other brother other sisters walking with the Lord you remember what Paul says follow me as i follow Mashiach Christ learn of me we're learning from the believers as they're occupied with the Lord the Lord Jesus the Messiah says learn of me for.

Meek and lowly in heart and ye shall find rest to your souls. And the Spirit of God desired to produce this in our life. And so these verses, these four verses, verse 14, 15, 16, and 17 of Romans chapter 8, we learn four things about the ministry of the Spirit of God in the life of God's people. Number one, in verse 14, the Spirit of God lead us. Notice that verse 14, Paul said, you know, for as many as I by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Notice that the Spirit of God is not driving us, but the Spirit of God is leading us. It's like a shepherd.

See, the Lord Jesus is a shepherd and he leads us in the power of the Spirit of God. You see, one who is not a true shepherd. The one who is really a false shepherd, he is driving the sheep. They are not his. But the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, in the power of the Spirit of God, lead us. And notice what he says here in verse 14. For as many as are led, not driven, as many as are led of the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. Now what does he mean? You mean if we are not led by the Spirit of God at times in our life that we stop to be the sons of God?

Of course not. He's not speaking about salvation here because our salvation is secure once and for all because we have already learned that we have peace with God and there is no longer condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus. But to prove and to show that we are the children of God practically, one has to be led by the Holy Spirit of God. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are showing, they are proving, not that they need to force anybody to see it, but they are truly, it's an evident, that they are the sons, the daughters of God. It is evident.

You see, unbeliever. Cannot be led by the Spirit of God because he or she, first of all, has to receive the Lord Jesus the Messiah, confess their sins, and then the Holy Spirit of God will come to indwell in them, and then they will be children of God positionally. But then if they become the children of God positionally, accepting the Lord Jesus the Messiah who died for their sins, then with the help of the Spirit of God, walk and be led by the Spirit of God. You and I who are already believers, when we conduct ourselves in the right way, when we allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead us, it only shows to the world around us that truly, wow, this person is truly the child of God.

She's a daughter of God. He's a son of God. They are the children of God. They are really walking with the Lord. You might say, those that came to faith in Christ, in the Messiah, they are really the children of God. They are not the children of disobedience, they are the children of obedience. You know, to the Thessalonians, the apostle Paul said to them in 1 Thessalonians chapter 5, he said to them that before they became believers, They used to be the children of disobedience. He said to them in 1st Thessalonians 5, you are all the children of light. Verse 5 of 1st Thessalonians 5. You are the children of the day and not of the night nor of darkness.

You see, he is telling them you are not the children of disobedience. Notice in verse 4, he said in verse 4. That they should overtake you as a thief but ye are the children of light you see beloved brothers and sisters the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah are the children of light and they are not the children of disobedience and so he's emphasizing the fact that they are those that walk with the Lord and led by the Spirit of God they are the sons of God. They already are the sons of God positionally, but it also shows the evidence that they are the children of God practically when they are led by the Spirit of God.

And again, I want to emphasize the fact, a time when we don't walk or allow the Spirit of God to lead us, it's not that we all of a sudden lose our salvation. This is important because in Bible teaching and ministering the Word of God. We have to distinguish between the positional relationship that the believer has with the Lord and the outcome of that relationship, the practical evidence of our relationship with the Lord. This is important to distinguish. Our salvation is secure once and for all on the basis of the finished work of the Messiah, but our fellowship with the Lord and our enjoyment of the Lord depends upon our allowing the Spirit of God to lead us.

Now notice verse 15. He continued, he said, the Spirit of God not only lead us, but the Spirit of God direct us to, notice then, the Spirit of God direct us to the Abba, to our Father. Ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear, he's saying to the believers at Rome, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption. Whereby we this is you Romans and us Jewish believers to whom he wrote to them those that were with him he says we cry Abba father Abba our father we together all believers we did not receive the spirit of bondage you see the Spirit of God is not a slave master us under what we call bondage.

Living for the Lord is not a bondage, it is a privilege. Living for the Lord is a blessing, it's not a judgment. Living for the Lord here in this world is a joy because God is so good and the Lord Jesus the Messiah is so gracious. His love for us is beyond compare, beyond comprehension and therefore to have a relationship with. And to live for him in this world is it ought to be joyful for the believers it's not bondage you know sometimes you hear somebody says oh again we have to read the Bible and oh again we have to go to meeting and oh again we have to to to do this and the other but beloved brothers and sisters the following the Lord ought to be joy in our hearts it is the true life to live when we are in a suitable condition.

Oh yes, when we are not, well, we can't enjoy the Lord. And remember that our relationship with the Lord is not a religious system. It's not that we have a system, a religion. It's not a religion. It's a relationship with a living, loving God. A relationship with a living, loving God. And therefore, we did not receive the spirit of bondage to fear. We don't have to fear, not to fear God, and also not to fear the world and its system and Satan. Although at times we have this fear, yes, the Lord knows that. That's why many times he said in the gospel, fear not, fear not.

Fear not because he knows our hearts remember he didn't save perfect people he saved sinners failing people but he's teaching us this is ministry teaching and establishing us in the things of the Lord he says listen we did not receive the spirit of bondage we are not the the holy Spirit of God is not a a slave driver we are not called to fear we don't have any longer distance from God because we have accepted the Lord Jesus the Messiah, but we receive the Spirit of adoption. We have been adopted into the family of God. We are now part of a family. And this adoption, the Spirit of adoption that we have received, we have been adopted to the family of God, beloved brothers and sisters.

And because we have been adopted, We are now sons and daughters of the Father. And notice he says, whereby we cry, Abba, Abba, Avinu, Abba, our Father. We can always turn to the Lord and tell him Abba. The Hebrew word Abba is the first word that every baby boy that is coming from a Hebrew family. Hebrew family but it's just interesting to see how the Hebrew Scripture the Hebrew language is so interesting because the first word that the baby usually take out of his mouth is Abba come from the Hebrew word Abba Father Abba and that's the first words that I heard from all my three our three sons Irene and I were blessed the Lord blessed us and it was such a privilege to hear our children, our sons say, Abba, Abba.

And we can cry to our God, Abba, Abba. And it's not that he's repeating himself, Abba, Father. He's not translating here into English, but he's really Abba, our Abba, our Father, my Father, Abba, Avi, Abba, Avinu. Crying to God, my Father, you are my Father. You see, the Spirit of God is not only directing us to the person of the Lord. The Messiah, but the Spirit of God is the one that is directing us to our Abba, to our Father. You see, brothers and sisters, when all fall around here in this world, one thing will never change is our relationship with our Lord Jesus the Messiah and our relationship with our Abba.

Our Father, that will never be taken away from the believer. We belong to Him. We cry, Abba, Avinu, our Father. And then quickly, just quickly, so we can at least finish these verses 16 and 17. So firstly, the Spirit of God leads us, verse 14. Secondly, the Spirit of God directs us to the Father, to our Abba. The Spirit of God bearing witness to the fact that we belong to God, that we are the children of God. You see, the person of the Holy Spirit of God, a divine person, he bears witness right here in our hearts and in our conscience that we belong to God. How do we know that we belong to God?

Well, we read it in the Word of God. We know it on the basis of the Word of God, yes. But the Word of God teaches us that we have received the Holy Spirit of God to indwell in us. This is God the Holy Spirit, Elohim Haruach, He is indwelling us. And He, Elohim Haruach, God the Holy Spirit, He is bearing witness to us that we belong to God. Notice this, it says again, I'm reading verse 16, the Spirit itself. Or in another translation, it's more correct to say the Spirit Himself. He is a person. He is not an it. He is a he. He is God, the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit Himself beareth witness with our spirit. This is with our humanity, with our personhood, that we are the children of God. In other words, you have two witnesses. Human spirit and the Holy Spirit together bearing witness to the fact that we are the children of God. We are the children of God. Not we may be the children of God, maybe we should be the children of God, but we are the children of God. We belong to God. We belong to the Lord Jesus our Messiah. And unto our father you remember John 1 12 says as many as receive him to them he gave the authority to be called the sons of God even to them that believe on his name in first John chapter 5 we learn it says in our in first John chapter five it does say that we are notice that it's so beautiful to see we know that whosoever is born of God God is really sinners not, but that he is begotten of God.

He is begotten of God. He belongs to the Lord. And so the apostle John many times emphasized the fact, especially also in 1 John 3, Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children, the sons of God. What a blessing! Now are we the sons of God. Now are we the daughters of God. We the children of God, beloved brothers and sisters. So the Holy Spirit of God, in Romans chapter 8 and verse 16, the Spirit of God also bear witness with our spirit that we are the children of God, the sons and daughters of God the Father. Now finally, in conclusion for this message, beloved brothers and sisters, in verse 17, The thing that the Spirit of God does, the Spirit of God helps us to draw from the wealth of the person of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, to draw from him.

And so we read in verse 17, with Messiah, with Christ, if so be that we suffer with him, we that we may be glorified together. What we learn from here, beloved brothers and sisters, that the Spirit of God helps us to draw, to receive the blessing that God has for us. Why? Because we are heirs. You know, an heir, what is an heir? An heir is someone. That receive something that will be given unto him from the one who passed away. He is heir. But notice, not only that we are heirs, but we are also, we are heirs of God, but we are also joint heirs with the Messiah, with Christ.

In other words, whatever God will give to his son, to the Mashiach Yeshua, to the Messiah, he will also give to the believers. And he will give to the believers, not because of, any goodness that we have done but because we are belonging to him and whatever the Messiah Christ will receive we will receive from God the father so we learn here in this verse 17 especially at the end if so be that we suffer with him that we may also be glorified together you know sometime when the Lord allows us to suffer here in this world and some believers suffer more than others. We cannot fathom the suffering that some have gone over this world and throughout the whole history of the assembly, of the ecclesia.

Well, when we suffer with the Lord, when we identify with Him, we are pleasing God the Father and there is a day coming in which we may be glorified together with Him. Brothers and sisters will be glorified together with our Lord Jesus the Messiah. Who will one day come and take us to be with him in glory. Never to suffer here anymore. It is here and now that God's people experience some sufferings here in this world. And praise God that we will no longer suffer. When the Lord will come and take us to be with him in heaven. And I'm just going to close with these verses in John chapter 17.

In John chapter 17, the Lord Jesus the Messiah was praying to his Abba, to his Father. And you remember what he said? He said in this beautiful chapter, First of all, he said in verse 5, all things whatsoever thou has given me are of thee verse 8 of John 17 and for i have given unto them the words which thou gavest me that they have received them and have known that i came from thee and they have believed that thou has sent me i pray for them father i do not pray for the world but for them. Thou gavest me for they are thine and then he continued and he said he says and i just want to read these verse here in this passage verse 13 and now i come to thee and these things i speak in the world that they might have my joy fulfilled in them in themselves i have given them thy word and the world has hated them because they are not of the world even as I am not of the world.

I pray that thou should I pray not that thou should take them out of the world but that thou should keep them from the evil one. They are not of the world even as I am not of the world. In other words the Lord Jesus the Messiah was praying for the people of God and here we learn and I'm stopping with this verse 17. If we are children. Then we are heirs and if we are heirs of God we are co-heirs with the or joint heir with the Messiah and if so be that we suffer with him here in this world we are also going to be glorified together with him because we belong to him we identify with him here in this world but one day he will come to take us to be with him in heaven and we will be glorified being taken to glory for time and for eternity and so beloved brothers and sisters we have concluded this section of verses 1 to 17 that deals with the truth that we are freed from defeat knowing that we have the Holy Spirit of God indwelling us who is able to lead us if we will only allow him to lead us here.

In this world. May the Lord bless us and bless his word and encourage our hearts to continue to follow after him. Father, we thank you for your word. Thank you for Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah.
