Well, Shalom everyone. Welcome to the Bible Classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel, where we are studying together the Word of God, book by book, chapter by chapter, and verse by verse. And in this meeting today, we have arrived to the book of Romans, and we are in Romans chapter 8. Today. Hopefully you have your Bibles with you. I'm going to be reading from Romans chapter 8. Actually, I will be reading the first 17 verses of Romans chapter 8. I don't think we will cover all these verses, but let's have this portion of Scripture before us, and then with the help of the Lord, we will be seeking to find, to get some help from the Lord.

Father, we just ask your blessing upon your word as we are going to read from Romans chapter 8. We ask it in Yeshua, in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. So Romans chapter 8 and verse 1 we read, the apostle is continuing to write to the Roman believers and he's saying to them, but after the Spirit, for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh, fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit for they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit for to be carnally minded is death but to be spiritually minded is life and peace and shalom Now, if any man have not the Spirit of Christ.

Of ease. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is alive because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ, Mashiach, from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are dettors not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die. But if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

The spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, with Mashiach. If so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. And I am here, beloved brothers and sisters, stopping here with the reading of Romans chapter 8, verses 1 to 17. I don't think we will cover all these verses, beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends, in our study after we have concluded with chapter 7 moving along into chapter 8 and we will see how the apostle Paul is helping the Roman believers to understand the purpose of the Holy Spirit of God in the lives of all those that belong to him.

Now of course before we will move along I just want to remind you that we are in a section of the book of Romans that it is important to remember in a section that is called the section of sanctification. Remember, dear brothers and sisters, that the book of Romans, of course, is dividing itself into these five sections that begin with the letter S: sin, salvation, sanctification, sovereignty, and service. Romans chapter 1 verse 1 to chapter 3 verse 30 is the theme of sin where the apostle Paul mentioned the fact that we all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Then Romans chapter 3 and verse 21 onward then the second subject is being presented the theme of salvation.

Now a God that provided a Savior the Lord Jesus the Messiah. Then in chapter 6 verse 1 to the end of chapter 8 we are in that third S or the third section of the book of Romans which deal with the theme of sanctification. The meaning of being sanctified, being set apart in our life, being in Hebrew it says mekudashim, set apart in our life for the Lord. This is being taught here in Romans chapter 6, 7, and 8. Then in Romans chapter 9, 10, and 11 we have the theme of the sovereignty of God in relationship to Israel. And finally in Romans chapter 12 verse 1 to the end of the book of Romans we have the theme of service, the fifth S.

Service for our Lord Jesus the Messiah well we are still in the section that deal with the theme of sanctification and we are now moving from Roman chapter 7 to Roman chapter 8 where you will notice beloved brothers and sisters where the word Spirit the holy Spirit of God will be mentioned some 19 to 20 times in Romans chapter 8. It will be very much different from Romans chapter 7 where we have learned that the word me and I, me and mine mentioned many many times in Romans chapter 7 and now in Romans chapter 8 the Apostle Paul will emphasize not so much me and my and i but no but him Christ the Messiah but the holy Spirit of God will be the one that will be the one that will be leading the people of God to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord now let me mention just one more point before we are moving into the.

Concluded a Roman chapter 7 if you remember beloved brothers and sisters for verse 14 to verse 25 with the truth of the inability of God's holy law to make a change in the life of the of the of the flesh because the law is holy and we are sinners and we have already learned from Roman chapter 7 that the law cannot save us Romans chapter 3 4 and 5 the law cannot sanctify us Romans chapter 6 the law cannot condemn us because we are in Christ Romans 7 verses 1 to 6 but what the law can do the law can convict us Romans chapter 7 verses 7 to 13 and that the fact that the law cannot deliver us from sin in Roman chapter 7 verses 14 to 25 but we also learn that the law can be fulfilled in us according to Roman chapter 8 in the power of the holy Spirit of God in other words what we have learned from chapter 7 that there are certain things that the law cannot do for us but the only thing that the law.

Can do for us is to convict us of sin and it can be fulfilled in us as we allow as believers of course if we allow the holy Spirit of God to lead us and to guide us in other words the Spirit-led believer the Spirit-led believer in the Lord Jesus the Messiah is able to fulfill the law as he or she allows the Spirit of God to lead him or her in our life. Now you notice that, beloved brothers and sisters, the last verses that we read in Romans chapter 7, you remember what the Apostle Paul said in Romans chapter 7? And I just wanted to mention that to us in these verses.

I just want to read to you from the New King James Version in Romans chapter 7 and verse 19. That I will to do, I do not do, Paul said about himself. And he said, on the other hand, he said, but the evil that I will not to do, that I practice. In other words, he said, I want to do the right thing, but because I have this same nature within me, I don't do the right thing. I always seems to fail in completely pleasing God. Not want to do, somehow I'm doing that even though I have this new nature within me and yet because I have the old sin nature yet within me, even when I want to do good, somehow I still fail because I still have this old sin nature within me.

Although we have a divine nature, we have new life, we have new creation, We belong to the Lord, we have the Holy Spirit of God indwelling us, but we are here in this world, and you notice this, my dear brothers and sisters and dear friends, how many a time we fail the Lord as believers in our life, and every time we sin, it is never from that new nature, because the new nature, 1 John 3, 9, cannot sin. It's always from this capacity to sin of the old Adamic nature that is still within us. And so the conclusion of chapter 7, the apostle Paul said in verse 24 and 25, oh, wretched man that I am.

That's what I am by nature. I am wretched. I am sinful. I cannot improve my old nature. That's why we needed to have new creation. That's why the Mashiach, the Messiah, the Lord Jesus, God the Son, had to come into this world as men and die for our sins and give us, provide for us a new, nature new creation he forgave our sins when we believed on him and he gave us the holy Spirit of God to indwell in us he gave us a new nature a divine nature but the all sin nature all wretched man that i am notice he said in verse 24 who shall deliver me from the body of this death he says who he didn't say what he says who why because no law can deliver us.

Law that God had given to Israel, no law that men make for himself can deliver us, no rules that we will make can fix this old nature. With this sin nature, we have committed every sin that is under the sun. With this sin nature, even as believers, we have failed God so much. And that's why God said that, if you remember Genesis chapter 6, where we read right in the beginning of the Word of God, in Genesis chapter 6 and verse 5, where God saw, notice that it says here, was only evil continually. In Hebrew the word is kol hayom, all the day long. We cannot lift ourselves out by some shoe straps.

We cannot fix ourselves. That's why God had to send the Messiah to die for our sins, to provide for us this new nature. And we are a new creation. Now as believers, if we want to live a sanctified, set-apart life for the Lord, we cannot do it by man-made rules or by seeking to keep any laws. The only way that we will be able to fulfill the law of God is in the power of the Holy Spirit of God. That's why Romans chapter 8 is very important. Today i was speaking to my dear wife irene this morning and we were reading these these verses in Roman chapter 8 and and the question was asked we talked a little bit and we said well how did the old testament saints lived then how did they live a godly life before the Lord Jesus the Messiah came before the holy Spirit of God came down to form the body of Christ after the death and resurrection and the ascension of Yeshua the Messiah to heaven how can how did Abraham lived his life a godly life how did Yitzhak and Yaakov before the law was given to Israel and even during the law how did Moshe live a godly life and how did Yehoshua and how is Daniel Hananiah Azariah Mishael and all the godly the men and women how did Eliyahu Hanavi Elijah the prophet live.

Life well listen in every generation no one could live a godly life unless it is in the power of the Holy Spirit of God in any generation in any oikonomia we live in a different dispensation according to Ephesians chapter 3 and the word dispensation comes from the Greek word oikonomia economy In the past economy or in the present economy, in every oikonomia and every dispensation, any godly man or woman lived life in the power of the Holy Spirit of God. The only difference in this present-day oikonomia, economy of the church age, the Holy Spirit of God which only came down to indwell believers after the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus the Messiah.

We live in a unique dispensation, in a unique economy because of the fact that Christ, the Mashiach, had finished the work of redemption. But even before he came, any man, any woman who lived for God, were always led and moved by the Holy Spirit of God. Just read with me for a moment in 2 Peter 1, 2 Peter 1 verses 20 and 21 we read. Will of men, but holy men of God spake, and we can say lived, as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. Always, in every generation, beloved brothers and sisters, holy men of God had to be controlled and guided by the Holy Spirit of God. According to Psalm 51, When David sinned and he repented and asked for forgiveness of sins, he prayed in Psalm 51 and verse 10.

He says, create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. And notice what he said in verse 11. He said, cast me not away from thy presence and, listen to this, take not thy Holy Spirit of God from me. In other words, the Holy Spirit of God came upon David to lead him to live a godly life. The only difference is that in his dispensation or economia of the law, the Torah, the Holy Spirit of God came upon men, women in Israel's history and came off them. In this present age that you and I are indwelt by the person of the Holy Spirit of God who came to indwell all believers of the church age in this present day after the death burial and resurrection of our Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah and after the building of the body of Christ where Jew and Gentiles are united together in one body in this present day of the oikonomia of the church This is a unique age.

But let us always remember that it is always the person of the Holy Spirit of God in every dispensation, in every age that worked in the hearts and in the life of God's people to lead them to live for God. They had the same flesh that you and I have. They needed the help of God, the Holy Spirit, to lead them to live a godly life. As they were submissive to the Lord, they humbled themselves before the Lord, they gave themselves for the Lord, and that's how God, the Holy Spirit, in days of all, led them as He is leading you and I today, if we will let Him lead us in our life today.

Now, turn with me to John, the Gospel of John, for a moment. Chapter in the gospel of John John chapter 14 we read listen to this John 14 and verses 16 and 17 the Lord Jesus the Messiah is in the upper room with his disciples before he went to the garden of gethshmanim gethsemane and before he was taken and was crucified and died on a Roman cross for the sin of this world notice what he said to his disciples in the upper room in in the city of Jerusalem he said to them in Roman chapter 14 and verse 16 he said to them and I will pray the father and he shall give you another comforter perakletos in the Greek another comforter another help one that come to help alongside alongside to help and notice that he shall give you notice that he said he shall that he may abide with you forever this.

Perakletos, this comforter, is the one that will abide in the believers when he will be sent down forever. He continues in verse 17, even the Spirit of truth. He is identifying who is this Perakletos, who is this comforter. The comforter is none else but the person of the Holy Spirit of God. Notice, beloved brothers and sisters, the Lord Jesus, the Lord Yeshua is clearly telling us that the Holy Spirit of God is not merely an influence, it's not merely an it, it's not merely a wind. He is a person, a divine person. You forever verse 16 because the world seeth him not verse 17 neither knoweth him the world doesn't know him the God the holy Spirit but you know him this is God the holy Spirit why because he dwelleth with you and notice verse 17 at the end and shall be in you you notice that Spirit of God will come to be not only with the believers but He will come to be in the believers.

This is very important to understand. Is come this is the same holy Spirit the person of the holy Spirit of God when the comforter will come which i will send unto you from the father even the Spirit of truth which which proceed from the father listen he shall testify of me for ye shall bear also bear witness because ye have been with me from the beginning what the holy Spirit of God will do his ministry is to testify of the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah. How do we know if somebody is speaking by the Holy Spirit of God? How do we know if someone is really under the guidance of the Spirit of God?

He or she lives their life and directing their attention to the person of the Lord Jesus? He is the center. He is the focus. He is the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God to set before all the beauty of the person of Yeshua. There is none like him. And that's the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God is to direct the attention of God's people to the person of Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. Notice chapter 16 of John. In chapter 16 and then verse 12 we do read, beloved brothers and sisters, Verse 12 tells us, Yeshua is speaking to the disciples in the upper room. Verse 13, he says, for he shall receive of mine and shall show it unto you.

Notice that the ministry of the Holy Spirit of God is to receive more and more and more of Christ, of Mashiach, and to show it unto the believers and to glorify the Lord Jesus the Messiah. So when Paul concluded chapter 7 of the book of Romans by saying, O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death? He says, I thank God. He thanked God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God. New nature, the divine nature, but with the flesh I serve the law of sin. So Paul is clarifying, he says, listen, the only way that I'm going to receive help in order to be able to live, to be delivered from this body of humiliation, from walking in the flesh, from doing my own thing and falling into all kinds of things that are not pleasing to the Lord, the only way to be able to be successful is if i turn to the Lord Jesus for help and he will be the one that will help me and Paul now was clear that with the mind this is with the um the the inner man the new nature he said i really serve he says in the mind i'm i'm serving the law of God but with the flesh this is the old nature.

Of sin so he saw two contradicting you might say two contradicting that which contradict each other the flesh and the Spirit that which is the new divine nature that which is the old nature there is a contradiction there is a constant struggle as we read in Galatians 5 and verse 16 Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and they are contrary to each other. If we are going to live a sanctified life we cannot do it in the power of the all sin nature. We cannot just say well I will do the best I can. We will find that we are falling every time when we do it in the power of the flesh.

We need the Holy Spirit of God to be the one that will help us and guide us. So now as we are entering into chapter. 8, you will notice that in the 8th chapter, there are actually four things that we want to point to in Romans chapter 8. First of all, verses 1 to 4, the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah are freed. They are freed from judgment. In fact, no condemnation for the believers in the Lord Jesus Christ. Secondly, in verses 5 to 17, the believers in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, are free. They have freedom from defeat. They can live a life that is victorious life. Therefore, there is no obligation to live any longer in accordance to the old sinful nature in the flesh.

They have the Holy Spirit of God, the divine nature. The Holy Spirit of God can guide them and lead them to live a godly life. Is no obligation to live after the flesh we can live in the power of the Spirit of God now thirdly the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah verses 18 to 30 have freedom from discouragement i don't know about you but many times we get so quickly discouraged another. We look within our own heart and we get disappointed. So there is no longer for the believer who is walking in the power of the Spirit of God there is no frustration that we need to be frustrated because if we are allowing the Spirit of God to lead us he will help us to rise above all the discouragement that comes across our way.

Well unfortunately we are not always allowing the Holy Spirit of God to us and that's why many times we are so discouraged you me we know it in our life and then fourthly verses 31 to 39 the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah have freedom from fear why because there is no condemnation chapter 8 verses 1 to 4 and therefore there will be no separation chapters 8 and verses. 31 to 39, because we are going to be with him. Who shall separate us from the love of God? Nothing will separate the believer in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, who has seen us forgiven. Nothing will separate us from the love of Christ, the love of God.

Who can be against us? Who shall lay anything against to the charge of God's elect? Condemneth us who shall separate us from the love of Mashiach of Christ of the Messiah shall tribulation or distress or persecution or famine and on and on and on no no no no the apostle Paul says no no no with all these things we are more than conquered through the Lord Jesus who loved us through the Lord Jesus and our God who loved us in other words no condemnation no obligation brothers and sisters, no frustration and no separation. Romans 8 verses 1 to 4, no condemnation. Romans 8 verses 5 to 17, no obligation to live in sin anymore and to live after the flesh.

Romans 8 verses 18 to 30, no frustration. We can be encouraged by the Lord, although many times we fail in it. And finally, Romans 8 verses 31 to 39. No separation. Oh beloved brothers and sisters we fail so much but let's be assured on the basis of the word of God that there will never be a separation for the believer in Jesus the Messiah. We will never be separated from him because he died for your sins and mine and we belong to him on the basis of his finished work for us on the cross. Is in the first four verses the apostle is presenting now the truth that there is freedom from judgment and although in chapter 7 he repeated he said the things that i don't want to do this i do and the thing that i do want to do i don't do all wretched man that i am who shall deliver me out of this body of humiliation then he's reminding now the Romans and himself and you and i that there is no condemnation in spite of our failure for those that are in Christ in Mashiach in Messiah so let me read these first four verses of Roman chapter eight there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus who walk after the who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.

Made me free from the law of sin and death for what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin condemned sin in the flesh that the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit there is a link between the end of chapter 7 and the beginning of chapter 8. What is the link? Well, the link is simply this. Because now that we are believers and we have the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God within us, and because we still have the all-sin nature within us, Paul is admitting in chapter 7 that even though when he did not allow the Spirit of God to lead him.

To please God on the basis of his own sin nature on the flesh it just didn't work. He always failed. So in spite of the failure and you know sometimes believers think that because they sinned and because they failed that they lost their salvation and they think that oh yes but you see I tried and I just didn't make it. I tried. You already belong to the Lord. You have accepted him. In Romans chapter 1 he already said, beloved brothers and sisters, when he's writing to the Romans, he's saying to them when he began the book of Romans, he's saying to all that be at Rome beloved of God called saints.

They are set apart positionally when they have accepted the Son of God the Messiah. You see already said Paul a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle separate unto the gospel of God which he had promised for by his prophet in the Holy Scripture concerning his son Yeshua Hamashiach Jesus Christ our Lord which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh. In other words they believed on him they have accepted him and they are set apart. Positionally by the Lord they belong to the Lord they are saints of God but you see beloved brothers and sisters now that we are positionally set apart holy people belong to the Lord for time and for eternity we live here in this world and we find ourselves failing and failing and even though we we seek to please the Lord many many times we just don't rise up to repent to turn back to the Lord to confess our sin he's faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness but our salvation is secure there is no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus that's it now notice this and i will read this chapter 8 now notice this in verse 1 this is so beautiful in Romans chapter 8 and verse 1.

The believer who is in Christ in Mashiach in Hebrew christos in Greek Christ translated to the English the believer who is in Messiah is really there is no condemnation in him or in her because we are in Christ now now when we before we we were believers because before we receive forgiveness of sins we were in Adam in Adam all have sinned When Adam sinned, he plunged the whole human race into this world, and we all have sinned. By one man sin entered into this world, and death by sin, for we all have sinned. When Adam sinned, you have sinned. When Adam sinned, I have sinned.

And we, under Adam, all of us beloved brothers and sisters, are condemned. That's why God said to Adam, you will eat out of this tree dying you shall die and Adam died spiritually the moment he violated God's word later on he died also physically but you see now we are in Christ in Mashiach the man from heaven and so we read there is i'm reading verse one again. In Christ Jesus now that expression Christ Jesus or Mashiach Yeshua mentioned so many times in the new covenant in the brit hachadasha in Christ in Christ you remember what we do read in second Corinthians chapter 5 and verse 17 where the apostle Paul said in verse 17 he said therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creation all things are passed away behold all things become new in other words where we are in Christ in the Mashiach in the Messiah we are new creation and therefore there is therefore now no condemnation we are freed from the judgment that we deserve to receive because Christ the Messiah took it upon himself so even though we fail we admit that we fail.

Many times sin easily beset us pride and arrogance and self-will and lust and covetousness and all that and pride and friction among God's people and all the things that happen among the people of God the believers we might say well then I lost my salvation and I'm therefore and I am judged and I will be judged and condemned and Paul's saying brethren There is therefore now, although you failed, you should live for the Lord. You should not continue in sin that grace may abound and say, I will continue in sin. No, you judge your sin, repent before the Lord, seek to live for the Lord.

But whatever failure we have as believers doesn't change the fact that there is now therefore no condemnation for those that are in Christ Jesus. Now, let me remind you. Do you think you and I, whenever we fail the Lord, caught God by surprise? You mean God was surprised? Oh, and I thought that now that he or she became believers, he will live a perfect life. He will never fail anymore. Do you think we caught God by surprise? God knew us before we became believers. And he still loved us and gave his sons when we were his enemies. God knows us today as believers. When we have accepted the Lord, He knew very well that He didn't save and redeem a person that is angel in disguise.

He know very well who we are by nature. And He also know us as believers now, here and now today. He know very well your heart and mind. He already declared it through the prophet Jeremiah that a heart is deceitful above all things. Believer that's why we needed to have a new divine nature that will enable us to live for the Lord in the power of the Spirit of God and so Paul is encouraging the Roman believers and he says in verse 1 there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in notice that expression in Christ Jesus in the Mashiach No condemnation. Now notice the verse continue.

In the King James and the New King James it says, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit. This part of this verse should not be there. In most manuscripts it's really not there because the Apostle Paul does not speak about here about our walk here in verse 1 but our position before God. In fact. This second part of verse 1 is mentioned again in verse 4 where it really belongs. And for one reason or another, the person who wrote, whoever, the King James or whoever, they felt it is a need to put there these words who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit.

No, there is no condemnation because of Christ, not because of our walk. Because we walk aright, even if we walk the best of us, the holiest of us, still we never measure to God's holy and righteous requirement. So it has nothing to do with how we walk. It has to do everything with our position and our relationship to the Lord because we are in Christ, in the Mashiach. No condemnation. No condemnation. In verse 1 for those that are in Christ Jesus second Corinthians 5 17 new creation Romans chapter 3 in verse 24 we have already read it it said being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus in Mashiach Yeshua freely We have been justified.

We have been declared righteous, tzaddik in Hebrew. We have been declared justice freely. So it has nothing to do with our walk when it comes to our deliverance from condemnation. Oh yes, we deserve to be condemned, but somebody pay for this on our behalf. Messiah so now that the apostle Paul said in verse 1 there is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus then in verses 2 3 and 4 the apostle Paul provides for us three statements here that the law cannot do against those that belong to the Lord Jesus the Messiah Number 1 verse 2, the Lord cannot claim the believer. Why? Because we are now free from the punishment of the law because Messiah, Christ, paid for us when he was punished on our behalf.

Then in verse 3, the law not only cannot claim, has no claim against the believer in Jesus the Messiah. Cannot condemn the believer. Why? Because God sent his son to save us. And therefore the law cannot condemn us because the holy law can easily condemn all of us because of our sin and sin nature. But because the Messiah came and we belong to the Lord Jesus Christ, the law cannot condemn the believer in Jesus the Messiah because God sent his son. And the Messiah, his son, for our sins and thirdly in verse 4 the Lord cannot control the believer in the Lord Jesus the Messiah why because the law cannot have it does not have power to produce holiness in us why because it because it is only through the holy Spirit of God that we can live a holy life for God here in this world so the law cannot claim have no claim against the believer verse 2.

The law cannot condemn the believer in Jesus the Messiah in verse 3. And the law cannot control the believer in the Lord Jesus the Messiah because the only one that can control the believer in the Lord Jesus the Messiah is the Holy Spirit of God who work in the new nature and lead us to please the Lord here in this world. Let's just read these verses and just make a few remarks on these verses, beloved brothers and sisters. Listen to this. "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus had made me free from the law of sin and death." You see this? The law has no longer claim on me because, again, to remind you, brothers and sisters, we don't say anything wrong with the law.

Of course not. Because according to chapter 7 and verse 12, the law is holy. According to verse 12 of chapter 7, the law is just and the law is good. According to chapter 7 and verse 14, the law is spiritual. So the law is holy, the law is just, the law is good, and the law is spiritual. But I have a problem because of my sin nature. The law kills me because God is holy and I deserve to die because of sin, because the wages of sin is death. But because Jesus the Messiah came and he fulfilled the law to the letter, the sinless man, and he died on your behalf and mine, was buried and rose again, and we have accepted his provision of salvation.

Therefore, we are now, according to verse 2, the law of the Spirit of life in Christ. Jesus made me free from the law that demand to judge sin and lead us to death you see what he's saying here because of the law of the Spirit of life which is in Christ Jesus in the Mashiach Yeshua we are freed and therefore the law has no longer claim over the believers because when the law is coming to you and I and the law says you are you have sinned and yes we did but Christ paid the Messiah paid for this sin for this sin he died and was buried and rose again you see this is so important to understand when the apostle is emphasizing the truth of there is no condemnation for them which are in Christ in the Messiah Now notice in verse 3 now.

Paul continues because the first four verses of Romans chapter 8 deal with the freedom from judgment. No condemnation for those that belong to the Lord Jesus. We are free from the judgment that we deserve by nature because of our sins. But somebody else was punished on our behalf. I pause here for a moment. Weak through the flesh. That means that the holy law of God could not help us sinners. It could only condemn us. So it could not fix our old nature. It could not improve us. Because the law is holy and I am sinful. The law is perfect. And I am damaged, depraved, the human nature is.

So what the law could not do because the law had no power because of our flesh is sinful flesh. So what God said, well, everybody deserves to be punished because I'm holy and I cannot allow sin to come into my presence. I'm holy and I cannot look upon sin. But I love humanity. I love mankind. I love my creation and I want to bring them to me. And because I'm holy and they are sinful, sin had to be punished. Well, how can I bring them to me, into my presence, to have a relationship with me without to deal with sin? Sin had to be judged.

Is love. But before God expresses his love, he is light, he is holy. So because he is holy, he expresses his love by judging the darling of his bosom. He punishes the Messiah. He sent his son to this world who was born of the virgin Miriam, who lived a perfect life. Whose name is Jesus, Yeshua. And so we read in verse 2b, verse 3b, so what the law could not do because it was weak through the flesh, God, listen to this, verse 3b, sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh. Notice it's very interesting. It says in a likeness of sinful flesh. John 1 verse 14 and the word became flesh and dwelt among us he was a real man he looks like you Yeshua Jesus the Messiah look like you look like me he walked here in this world he had he had human spirit soul and body he was a real man he's like you and like me as we read in the book of Hebrews also he took of the same because the children were flesh and blood he also took of the same flesh and blood sin apart so he looks like me looks like you he looks like us he's one of us he became a man but notice he did not have a sinful nature he was born to the virgin Miriam God the son entered into this world through the virgin Miriam.

Not tainted with sin the seed of the Holy Spirit of God placed in the womb of Miriam when the Messiah Yeshua Jesus was born in Bethlehem he was born without sin and so God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh and notice not only in the likeness of sinful flesh but for sin or in order to become an offering for sin order to become a sacrifice, a substitute, the just one for the unjust in order to bring us to God. That's how God condemned sin in the flesh. So instead of judging you and I, because the law could not improve us, fix us, the old nature, because of the sin nature cannot be improved.

Brothers and sisters, Listen, that's why when we preach the gospel, we tell people, listen, it's not a matter of how much good works you do and how much money you pay and how many good deeds you achieve and how many rules you make for yourself in your life. You can't fix. We can't fix ourselves. David says, I was born in sin. Did my mother conceive me I was shaped and born in iniquity I was I was shaped in iniquity and in sin did my mother conceive me Paul said oh wretched man that I am Isaiah says woe is me for I am unclean lips and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips we cannot fix this old nature we cannot the old nature the sin nature that we have of ours is only decaying and ultimately will be placed in a grave and so beloved brothers and sisters what we learn here and just quickly so we can finish with this God sent the Messiah he sent his son and he condemned your sins and mine in the flesh when the Lord Jesus the Messiah came and died on the cross he paid for our sins.

Having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself, by him I say, whether they be things in earth or things in heaven, and you, he reconciled us by through the blood of his cross. He became a sacrifice. He died. The just one for the unjust in order to bring us to God. Too cannot claim and then no claim on the believer the law has cannot condemn the believer because we are in Christ in Messiah Yeshua but the law also cannot even control the believer why because even though we have this new nature the new nature that we have the divine nature cannot on its own fulfill the law of God The Holy Spirit of God has to guide his new nature.

That's why verse 4 says that the righteousness of the law, if we are to live the righteousness of the law, what the law demands, if the believers are going to live in such a way, it might be fulfilled in us. But how? When we walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Nature that we have the law cannot have any power to produce holiness in the in the flesh and even the new nature need to be activated by the Holy Spirit of God that's why we read in second Peter 1 20 21 holy men of God because they were moved by the Holy Spirit David said take not the thy Holy Spirit of God from me because as long as I am Guided by the Holy Spirit, I can live for you.

Otherwise, I can't. I fail you. Sin easily beset me. And so, beloved brothers and sisters, what an amazing lesson we learn here from these verses. Just quickly turn to Philippians 2, verses 12 and 13. Philippians 2, verses 12 and 13. Paul is saying, notice that, Notice that, work out your own salvation. Live up the salvation that you already have with fear and with trembling. Notice, for it is God which worketh in you. It is God, the Holy Spirit, that worketh in you. What he worketh in you, both to will and also to do. Of His own good pleasure. It is always God that works in us. Otherwise, we would go astray.

Otherwise, we would go astray. God is working within the people, the life and the hearts of the people of God. He helps them to live their life for the Lord. Just one more verse in 1 Chronicles 3. 1 Chronicles chapter, I just have to find this verse. I probably will not find it right now. I will not find it right now, but let me just see if I can find it. And then we'll just end with this. Verse 12, let me see that. Well, I'll leave this verse for now. He always worked in every generation. He worked things in the life of his people. In fact, just read with me, and I'm going to close with it.

Read with me Ezekiel chapter 11. Ezekiel chapter 11 and verse 19 and 20. Flesh and I will give them a heart of flesh. Why? That they may walk in my statues and keep my ordinances and do them and they shall be my people and I will be their God. He said that the man Yechezkel is speaking about the future day by the word of the Lord when God will restore Israel and Israel will receive the Holy Spirit of God and they will live for God in a future in the power of the Holy Spirit of God, that they may walk in my statues and keep my ordinances. You and I today, if we are going to live for the Lord, we cannot do it in the power of the flesh every time we fail.

And that's why we need to turn to the Lord and ask him, Lord, I repent, I confess my sins, lead me by your Spirit, to live a life that is pleasing unto thee. Well, beloved brothers and sisters, Paul in Romans 8, verses 1-4. And for sin condemn sin in the flesh. That, or in order that, the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us. How? Who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. May the Lord help us to allow the Spirit of God to lead us in our life day by day as we are walking here with Him. Well, let's close the meeting in prayer.
