Well, Shalom. God bless you, my dear friends and dear brothers and sisters. We want to welcome you to the Bible classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel, where we learn from the Word of God together, one book at a time, one chapter at a time, one verse at a time. The Messiah and with the help of the Spirit of God, Ruach HaKodesh, we are able to understand the Word of God and we are very thankful for the privilege that the Lord has given to us to study the Word of God together. So we will pray together. Hopefully you have a Bible in your hand and I would like you to turn with me to the book of Romans.

We're in Romans chapter 7 and we will pray together and begin to read from Romans chapter 7 And so we turn to Romans chapter 7. In this seventh chapter, the Apostle Paul is going to continue to tell the Roman believers with them the purpose for the law or the role of the law in the lives of the redeemed people what is the role of the law in the lives of God's people this is the mosaic law to what Moshe what what is its role in the life of the redeemed those that belong to the assembly to the ecclesia to the believers in this present age. And so from Roman chapter 7 and verse 7, Paul continues to speak, to write, and he says in verse 7, What shall we say then?

Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law, for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. "The creation by the commandment wrought in me all manner of desires, for without the law sin was dead. For I was alive without the law once, but when the commandment came sin revived and I died. And the commandment which was ordained to life I found to be unto death. Taken the occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just and good. Was then that which is good made death unto me, God forbid, but sin that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good?

That sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful. For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal and sold under sin. I hate that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good, now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me, for I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing. Is good i found not for the good that i would i do not but the evil which i would not that i do now if i do that i would not it is no more i that do it but sin that dwelleth in me i find then a law that when i would do good evil is present with me God after the inward man, but I see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Through Yeshua HaMashiach, our Lord. So then without, so then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin. And here I am, beloved brothers and sisters, stopping here in this last verse of Roman chapter seven. And I really think that this Roman chapter seven such an important chapter to understand, really, beloved brothers and sisters, the Apostle Paul seeks to communicate with us the purpose or the role of the law of Moses in believers' life, in your life and mine today. He has already established that by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Paul has already mentioned that earlier. If you remember, according to chapter 6 and verse 14, for you are not under the law, but under grace. In other words, we have come to learn that we are now not under the law, but we are under the grace of God because we have a sin nature. The law is holy. Condemn us. Messiah Jesus had to die on behalf of us and when he died and he paid for the sin which you and I have caused and committed he provided for us life and we are now justified by faith in him but now as we are studying together the book of Romans, which deals not only now with sin, the first three chapters, not only with salvation, chapter 4 and 5, but the third section, the theme of sanctification.

We are now set apart to God. We are now to live our life, to sanctify, to be sanctified, practically to live our life for the Lord. And so in Romans chapter 7, we learn of the law's authority and the law of ministry. This is verses 1 to 13. And in verses 14 to 25, we learn what the law cannot do in the believer's life. And that is how we are driven to look by faith to the person of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah. And in the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord here in this world. Now, let me just say a few things of the role of the law of Moses in believers' lives.

This is very important. There are six things that we learn here from the Word of God concerning what the law can do I'm just going to give it to you right now as we are moving into this Romans 7 from verse 7. The first thing, what the law cannot do for us, the first thing that we learn from the Word of God is that the law cannot save us. Why? Because the law is holy and it demands justice. But we are sinners who fail into sin. Cannot save us all have sinned and come short of the glory of God the law cannot save us because the law is holy and perfect we are sinners and the law demands justice and the law really killed us because we fail to obey the law of God number two not only that the law cannot save us but secondly what the law cannot do with us believers the law cannot sanctify us the law cannot make us holy why because we're still in our old sinful nature and the law cannot work with this sin nature that's why we needed to be born again second Corinthians 5 verse 17 The law cannot set us apart, sanctify us, because again, the law is holy, we are sinful, we have a sin nature, and it cannot make us holier.

Not because there is a problem with the law, but there is a problem with the sin nature. Thirdly, beloved brothers and sisters, what the law cannot do to us, what the law cannot do to us, the law cannot condemn us anymore. Why? Because we still have, even though we still have the old nature, but because we are in Christ, in the Messiah, and when we are in him, we are dead to the law. You remember what we began to read in Romans chapter 7 and verse 1? You remember what we just read? It says, has dominion over a man as long as he liveth. So in other words, because when we died with Christ, Romans chapter 6, God forbid, don't you know that we are dead to sin?

We have died. When the Messiah died, we died with him. And therefore the Lord cannot any longer condemn us because we are dead positionally in Christ, here on earth but when the Messiah died we had died as far as God is concerned the old nature is dead as far as God is concerned God looked at us through Christ through the Messiah now fourthly what we learn here that what the law can do for us what the law really can do for us the law can convict us of sin. Because we are, as believers, we still have that all nature within us. The law convicts us of sin, and you will see that in the next verses from Romans 7 verses 7 to 13.

The law can do something for us. It can show us and convict us of sin when sin comes into our life, when we sin. Do in us this is number five the law cannot deliver us from sin because the law reveals our sin nature that's what we we learn in chapter 7 verses 14 to 25 what the law does is like a mirror and it's a mirror it reveals to us our sin and our sin nature remember what we read in chapter 3 and verse 20 where it says for by the law is the knowledge of sin you read the law of Moses that God gave to Moses and it revealed to us by the law is the knowledge that we are sin when God says thou shalt not covet and we coveted it revealed our sin nature so the law cannot do in us, it cannot deliver us from sin, it only reveals the sin in us.

And finally, what the law can do by us, the law can be fulfilled in us because it is done through the person and the power of the Holy Spirit of God. And we will learn about that in Romans chapter 8. Can be fulfilled in us, but it can be fulfilled in us not in the power of the old sin nature, but in the power of the Holy Spirit of God. Now these six points are very important. I just want to reread to them and reread them to you all, to us all. What the law cannot do for us, the law cannot save us. Romans 3, 4, and 5. Cannot do with us the law cannot sanctify us because we still have our old sinful nature thirdly what the law cannot do to us the law cannot condemn us why because we are now in Christ in Messiah and we are dead to the law positionally number four what the law can do for us the law can convict us of sins, because believers still have the old nature in us, and the law can still reveal to us and convict us of sin.

Fifthly, what the law cannot do in us, the law cannot deliver us from sin, because the law reveals our sin nature. And sixthly, what the law can do by us, The law can do by us, the law can be fulfilled in us as we are doing so through the person and the power of the Holy Spirit of God. Romans chapter 8 and verses 1 to 4. It's hard to remember all these, but if you remember some of these and maybe go over these six points, it will help us all to understand the purpose of the law. In the lives of the people of God. What is the role of the law in the lives of God's people?

Well, we have already covered the first six verses, beloved brothers and sisters, of Romans chapter 7, and in the first six verses we learn what is the authority of the law. Remember, we already read in chapter 6 and verse 44, you remember that verse 14 i'm sorry that we are no longer under the law we are under grace so what authority has the law over us if we are under grace what authority has the law over us and in the first six verses Paul gives us an illustration verses one to three Paul uses an illustration of a husband and a wife. Together because he's in union now with the Lord, the glorified Savior, with the Lord Jesus.

Well, when Jesus died, we died. Positionally, that is. Of course, we are alive, we still walk, we are talking, we are speaking, we are living here in this world. But positionally, as far as God is concerned, when Yeshua the Messiah died some 2,000 years ago, when we have accepted him as our Lord and Savior, died in him. And it's very clearly written in Romans 6:1-2-3, "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we that have died to sin live any longer therein? Don't you know that as many of us as were baptized into Jesus the Messiah, we were baptized into his death?" Verse 4 says, "Wherefore we are buried with him by baptism into death." In other words, when he died.

We died in him as far as God is concerned, although we are still living here on earth. So when Yeshua the Messiah died, the believer, the moment he or she have accepted him, we died in him and with him. He paid for our sins, and now we now have a relationship with him. 4 and 5 that Paul speaks of the fact that we died to the law we have died to the law and our relationship is with the person of the Lord Jesus now we are in a sense married to another and in verse 6 which we have covered as well beloved brothers and sisters we are delivered from the law notice we read Romans 7 and verse 6 but now we are delivered from the law that being dead wherein we were held that we should serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldest of the letter so we are now because we were delivered from the law and because the law is holy and the law and we are sinners the law would kill us every time and therefore we died with Christ when we've accepted Christ the Lord Jesus.

And we are now in relationship with him. The law can no longer condemn us because every time we fail and we sin the Messiah's payment when he died on the cross forgave our sins and therefore the law is no longer has any and we are delivered from the law no longer any authority over us. Now when we say that I just wanted to mention because it sounds like we are speaking negative about the laws if there is a problem with the law no beloved brothers and sisters God's law is holy God's law is perfect God's law is spiritual God's law is is without any blemish the problem is never with God's law it's always with us with the sinner that that is the problem the sin problem is you and i the human race all of us have.

And come short of the glory of God all the wages of sin is death that is what the wages of sin but the gift of God is the gift of God is is really the the forgiveness that God provided for us as we read in Romans 6 23 the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through our Lord through Jesus Christ our Lord and therefore beloved brothers and sisters the authority of the law well the law is no longer had any more authority over the believer and it is not because there's a problem with the law it is because the believer receive forgiveness through the faith in the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah and Jesus himself paid for our sins he is the only one who live a life that is a holy life.

Perfectly fulfilling the law of God to the letter and so now we continue in verses 7 onwards so from Romans chapter 7 and verses 7 to verse 13 we have the second lesson that we learned from Roman chapter 7. What is then the purpose of the law if the law has no longer authority over us and if the law is holy and well what why did God give us the law altogether to his people Israel why because already when men fail at the garden to obey the the the commandment of the Lord sin have entered into this world so in this next verses we find out what is the ministry of the law what is the purpose of the law for his people.

There are four things that we learn here from verses 7 to 13. Number one is in verse 7, Romans 7 and verse 7. You notice the question is being raised here. What shall we say then? Is the law of sin? Well, God, why did you give the law altogether? And if we are not longer under the law, we are under grace, under chesed, chesed ha-Elohim, of God. Well, what then is the law of sin? In other words, is there any problem with the law? Well, Paul is answering and he is giving us an answer. He says, God forbid. God forbid. Not at all. In fact, you notice this, beloved brothers and sisters, Paul again used the word God forbid.

Notice in Romans 6 and verse 1, what shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Forbid. Romans 6 verse 14 for sin he says he said to do what then verse 15 he said shall we sin because we are not under under the law but under grace God forbid you see then and then he continued now in chapter 7 and verse 7 what should we say then is the law sin God forbid then he gives us an answer and he tells us really the what the law does and why was it given it was given the holy law of God was given to reveal sin the law reveals how sinful we are by nature you see what we read in verse 7 nay 7 verse 7b i did not know sin i had not known You see, when God gave to our people of Israel the law on Mount Sinai, there were a few millions that were there around the mountain when Moshe came down with the Torah, with the law.

God gave the nation the law. In fact, Israel broke the law before even the Ten Commandments came into the midst of the camp. They broke the first commandment. Thou shall have no other God before me. I am the Lord your God. You shall have no other God before me. When Moses came down to the mountain, they were already having golden calves there. The law was broken even before the law was brought to the nation of Israel. So Paul is saying to us in verse 7 that really the law reveals how sinful we are and how the nature of us. You know sometimes we have an inclination to think well after all I'm a pretty decent person.

I haven't done this, that, or the other. But yes you and I might have been decent towards one another although we fail so many times but before God? Before holy God, we have failed him. We are sinners. We have broken God's holy law. And so if you just turn with me for a moment to Romans 3, go back to Romans 3. In Romans 3, Paul already said in Romans chapter 3 and verse 20, By the law is the knowledge of sin. You look at the law, you read the law, the Torah, you have 613 commandments in its totality, one law. The first 10 of them are in the 10 commandments. It's the first 10 out of the 613.

And so you look at them and you say, by the law is the knowledge of sin. Verse 20 by the law we know our heart condition the law reveals to us the reality of who we are by nature God gave the law in order that men will go in a right direction toward God he gave it to the people of Israel as a guide of how to live their lives but In reality any true Israeli who sought to please God saw again and again and again that he or she failed God and in order to receive forgiveness from the holy God whom they have failed the provision of the sacrifices were provided so there will be atonement covering forgiveness, temporary forgiveness until the next sin come in because again sacrifices had to be repeated until the Messiah has come in the fullness of the time.

Notice in chapter 4 of Romans and verse 15, there we read, listen, the law, listen to these brothers and sisters, the law works wrath. For where no law is, there is no transgression. In other words, what happens if when you don't have a law. You can do certain things that you know that they are wrong, but there is no judgment because if there is no law, therefore when there is no law there is no transgression. You didn't violate. Sin is a transgression of the law we read in the epistles of John. Again, we usually use the expression, the sign, there are certain signs in our life that the government gives us in various governments.

Limit you should don't step on the grass you should not do this or the other you should yield when we violate that we violate the law but if there is no sign and you step on the grass or you drove a certain speed limit there is no transgression because there is no violation of any law but you see when the law was given to the people of Israel and it was written on stones and Israel said all that the Lord has said we will do, they didn't. And neither you would. Because by the law is the knowledge of sin. Turn with me to the book of James.

James chapter 1 and verse 22. James chapter 1 and verse 22. There we do read, beloved brothers and sisters, these words. We read in verse 22 but be ye doers of the word and not hearers only deceiving your own selves for if any be a hearer of the word and not a doer he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror in a glass for he beholds himself and he goes his way and straight where he forget what many of men he was Verse 25 says: "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he be not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work: this man shall be blessed in his deeds." You see what James is saying?

Of the word because if you only hear the law and you don't do it what you become you become like a like a like a person that is looking at himself in a glass in a mirror and then he goes his own way and he forget what man or man he was you forget the reality about yourself you see beloved brothers and sisters this is exactly what we learn from the law because the law really reveal to us our sinful condition. That is the purpose of the law. What is the ministry of the law? What is the purpose of the law? Number 1 verse 7, Romans 7 and verse 7, the purpose of the law is to reveal sin in us, in humanity.

This is verse 7. Now in verses 8 and 9, the apostle Shaul Paul continued. He's emphasizing here in verses 8 and 9 what is a notice that he i'm going to read verses 8 and 9 because the law not only reveals sin but it's arousing sin within us very interesting you might say that the law does not arouse sin the law will calm me down and make me really obedient right well notice that the law also arouses sin in the sin nature and so we read in verses 8 and 9 it says in verse 8 but sin taking occasion or in other words ceasing an opportunity by the commandment another the sin nature take an opportunity by the commandment wrought in me all manner of desires for without the law sin was dead notice verse 9 i was alive without the law once Paul is saying about himself but when the commandment came sin revived and i died now this is very interesting the verses beloved brothers and sisters another word Paul really shows us according to verse 8 that sin or the sin.

Nature taking occasion by the commandment what does that mean taking occasion by the commandment it is very natural for our sin nature that when when somebody tells us not to do something i say oh yes i will do it anyways ceasing or taking the opportunity using when somebody say when the Lord said nature it uses this opportunity when our nature was said don't do that to do the very same thing that we were commanded not to do. In other words by the commandment it brings within me all manner of desires for without law if there is no law sin was dead. In other words sin and sin nature did not any worry about doing something that we are commanded not to do.

But when the command was given, when the law was given, it only arouses within us the condition of the human heart. Now this is extremely interesting. Turn with me to the book of 1 Corinthians chapter 15. But more, beloved brothers and sisters, notice what it says in 1 Corinthians 15. This is the chapter that deals with the resurrection, with the bodily resurrection. But at the end of this 15th chapter, the Apostle Paul speaking about the, I will show you a mystery, we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, and the last trump, and for the trumpet shall sound, this is verse 52, dead shall be raised incorruptible and we shall be changed and then he continued for this corruption might put in corruption and this mortal must put immortality and then notice what he says in verse 54 55 and 56 of this chapter first Corinthians 15 verse 54 so when this corruptible shall have put on in corruption and this mortal shall have put on immortality then it shall be brought to pass the the same.

That is written or death death is swallowed up in victory or death where is thy sting or grave where is thy victory and then it says in verse 15 the sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law I mean I would have not write that the strength of sin is the law? Well, this is exactly what he's saying in Romans 7 and verse 8. He's saying, look, sin taking occasion by the commandment. In other words, sin nature become active when the commandments are given to us and then sin nature is acting upon it. God revealing to us our own condition by his high standard of perfection which we by nature don't have because we have a sin nature the Adamic nature which we possess since we were born to Adam and Eve so what really we learn beloved brothers and sisters that the law reveals sin law does not only reveal sin in us like a mirror showing to us what we are but also the law arousing us to sin now you and i might say well is that the reason God had given the Torah the law to his people Israel the law of Moses well God had given the law of Moses to his people Israel to reveal to Israel the holiness of God and the sinfulness of men.

He did not give any other law to his people. He is holy. The standard is high. But the people of Israel, as you and I, we needed redemption. We needed forgiveness. We needed blood atonement to cover our sins, to remove sin from us. And that's why when the law was given by God is to reveal to his people that they need his grace are sinners who need forgiveness and that they have been brought to a relationship with him on the basis of of the grace that he have extended to them not because they are perfect not because they are sinless but that he have extended his grace toward his people just as he extended his grace towards us and that's why verse 9 of Roman chapter 7 tells us beloved brothers and sisters.

Alive without the law now this verse is very very interesting i was alive without the law once Paul is saying of my of himself well Paul could not say i was alive without the law once because he was Jewish man he was a Hebrew he was an israeli he was always under the law he was born as part of the nation of Israel who were under the law what does he mean that he says here in verse 9 I was alive without the law once what he meant by that really in the context of the portion it's not that he was never under the law he was always under the law because our people of Israel were always under the law since 33 34 3500 years ago when the law was given on Mount Sinai Israel was always under the law until the Mashiach has come.

Goal the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believe so what Paul is saying when he's saying in verse 9 I was alive I was alive without the law once what he meant is that when he became a believer in his early stages of his faith he says actually what happened in the early stages of his faith he became believers he died to the law because everyone that accepted the Lord Jesus, died with Christ through the law. But what he's really showing to us that when it was part of his struggle as a believer, you see, many of us, perhaps like Paul says here, we love to be justified by grace through faith alone.

But now we think we're going to live our Christian life or our following of the Messiah life on the basis of keeping long. And so every time we say, well, we are saved by grace, we didn't achieve all the law. God extended his grace towards us and we received the grace of God. So the moment we received the grace of God, we died to the law, as we have already learned from the first six verses of chapter seven. But what happened with believers many times, we think, okay, no, I'm saved by grace and I'm forgiven. Law, but now as a believer I will seek to be sanctified, living sanctified life on the basis of the law, and what happens is that we find immediately that we cannot do that.

So we are no longer, when we try to be alive to the law, if we are already dead to the law, why are we trying to be alive to the law again as believers? Because we are mistakenly assuming, justified by faith but i will be sanctified by law and it just doesn't work that's why the same Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah that have justified us by faith he is the very same person in the power of the Spirit of God that can help us to be to live a sanctified life here upon the face of this earth not by law keeping but by the grace of God and by the help of the guidance of the Spirit of God.

Live a life that is godly to fulfill the law as we are submissive to the Spirit of God so Paul is saying in verse 9 and i'm repeating this beloved brothers and sisters in verse 9 he said i was alive without the law once that was in my early days in my faith because i've become justified but i thought i might live my life under to seek to sanctify me in my life. And then he said, but when the commandment came, then sin revived in me, and it killed me, and I died. You see, what we really learn, and actually you will notice, beloved brothers and sisters, that in this seventh chapter, the apostle Paul used the words I some 30 times.

Words "me" about twelve times. He used the word "my" about four times. He used the word "myself" about one time. But he doesn't use the word "Holy Spirit" here at all. It's only "me, my, myself, and I." What he is really saying to us in the Romans chapter 7 is the battle that is going on in the believer's as he is struggling to live a life for the Lord as a believer to live a sanctified life for the Lord and this is exactly what Paul said in Galatians chapter 5 if you remember that the flesh lusts against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh Galatians chapter 5 and verse 16 he says walk in the Spirit and he shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh verse 17 Galatians chapter 5 verses 16, 17, and 18.

Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, valiant, emulation, wrath, strife, sedition, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, revilings, and such alike, of which I tell you before and I've also told you now in past time, and now it says, the day which do such things should not inherit the kingdom of God. These are the works of the flesh, and you and I know that these things are happening in our own lives. We try to walk the life of the believer in the power of the flesh but the fruit of the Spirit is love joy peace long-suffering gentleness goodness faith meekness a temperance again such there is no law so beloved brothers and sisters what Paul teaching us here in this portion very very interesting in our portion verses 8 and 9 that the law really arousing in us all sort of sins because of our sin nature.

So the law does not only reveal sin, Romans 7 verse 7, but the law also arousing sin within us. And it is not because there is a problem with the law. We have to realize that. The law is perfect and holy, but we, and our sin nature is the problem. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. The wages of sin is death. God's law is pure and holy. So now go down in the next verses, in verses 12 and 13 of Romans chapter 7. Say verse 10 and 11 in Romans chapter 7, the law is not only revealing sin, verse 7, the law does not only arouse the sin within us because of our sin nature still dwell within us, verses 8 and 9, but the law really is the one that kills us, demands justice and judgment.

I'm reading verse 10. Us life the commandments it says according to verse 10 verse 10 he says in the commandment which was ordained to life i found to be unto death you see the commandments of God was given to his people Israel because the Lord Moses was given to the nation of Israel the commandment was given to show Israel the ways of life. But they violated it. You violated it. I violated it. So what happened is, the very commandment, the very law that was given, which was ordained to give life, Paul says, I found to be unto death. God's law, God's commandment does not give us life because, not because there is a problem with God's holy commandment, but because the problem is with the sin nature.

The sin nature. There's a verse in Galatians. If you turn with me to Galatians one more time. Galatians chapter 3. And there we read in verse 21. Is the law against the promises of God? God forbid. For if there had been a law given which could have given life, then verily righteousness should have been by the law. Ha-Mashiach might be given to them that believe you see beloved brothers and sisters it is amazing as we are studying this portion of Scripture and always to bear in mind as we are studying Romans chapter 7 that Paul does not belittle the law he honors the law People in every generation should always remember that God's law is pure and holy.

But because God's law is pure and holy, it doesn't help us who are sinners. And every time God's law demands perfection and when we fail to arrive to it, it kills us. It demands justice. Of sin is death any sin sin is the transgression of the law and so now notice that in verse 11 Paul continuing he said that sin through the commandment deceive and slay us now those words are very interesting because he says now and i'm reading verse 11 for sin or sin nature within us taking occasion by the law or by the commandment, and then it deceives me, and by it it slays me.

So we sometimes say, oh no, I'm living by the golden rules, and I'm living by the Ten Commandments. Okay, try to do it in your own strength, and you find out that you fail. Us every time the commandment is given and we realize that we just can't fail in it although we should although the commandment is given to us in order to in order to give us to it was ordained in order to give us life to show us the perfection of God the holiness of God and how wonderful to live a godly life like this but the problem is again with the human nature and so and this is sin nature taking an occasion by the law by the commandment and then it deceives me and I think oh I'm going to do it I'm going to do it I'm going to do it in my own strength in my own ability and then it deceives us and ultimately it slays us it kills us you remember if you go back for a moment once again to the book of Deuteronomy.

And if you just turn to that 27th chapter, chapter 27 of the book of Deuteronomy, the Lord did say to Israel in verse 15 onward, Cursed is the man that maketh any grave and molden image. Verse 16, Cursed be he that setteth light Verse 17: Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. Verse 18: Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander. Verse 19: Cursed is he that preserveth the judgment. Verse 20: Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife. Verse 21: Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beasts. Verse 22: Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife. With his sister. Verse 23. Cursed be he that lies with his mother-in-law.

Verse 24. Cursed be he that smites his neighbors secretly. Verse 25. Cursed be he that taketh reward. Verse 26. Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them and all the people And the people fail. And the people fail. And that's why judgment came upon all. And so, beloved brothers and sisters, that's one of the lessons that Apostle Paul is showing to us, the struggle that existed within the life of God's people. And so quickly, let's go back to Romans chapter 7. And in Romans chapter 7, in verses 12 and 13, the the purpose of the law and the ministry of the law number one the law reveals sin verse 7 Romans 7 verse 7 number two the Lord arouses sin Romans 7 verses 8 and 9 number three the law really a killer because the the law is holy Romans 7 verses 10 to 11 and Romans 7 verses 12 to 13 the Lord shows us the sinfulness of sin.

Of sin verse 12 and 13 and so we read in Romans chapter 7 and verse 12 wherefore notice Paul said the law is holy and a commandment holy and just and good Paul is saying look the law is holy the commandments are holy they are just God's commandments are just God's commandments are good The problem is not with the law, the holy law of God, but the problem is with our sin nature. Therefore, in verse 13, the Apostle Paul writes, he says, was then that which is good made death unto me? He says, God forbid. But, he says, but sin, that it might appeal sin, working death in me, You see what Paul is saying?

In other words, the holy law of God that was given is not a problem. The law but the purpose of the law to reveal how sinful we are by nature and that's why it says in verse 13 he said was then that which is good made death unto me God forbid but sin or the sin nature that it might appear sin working death in me by that which is good that sin by the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. It is only in the power of the Holy Spirit of God that a person can be living a life that is glowing the Lord, but otherwise that holy law of God shows us the sin nature that we have.

And beloved brothers and sisters, this is exactly What is needful for us all? What was it that brought you and I to come to a point in our life that we said to the Lord, Lord God, be merciful to me, a sinner. What was it that brought us into that stage to say, God, be merciful to me, a sinner? Well, when we saw the demands of a holy God. God shows us how sinful by nature we are, it drove us to come to the Lord and accept God's Son, the Messiah, who paid for our sins when he died for us on the cross. He who fulfilled the law of God to the latter, he who sinned not, the sinless one, the just one, us the unjust in order to bring us to God.

We cannot live, beloved brothers and sisters, the life of the believer in the power of the old sin nature. We cannot live the Christian or the messianic life in the power of the old nature. We must live a life as believers in the power of the Spirit of God. And that's why when we will enter, beloved brothers and sisters, in our next meeting together, to Romans 7:14-25, we can learn, we will see that the third point that Romans 7 is seeking to teach us, authority over us number two the purpose of the ministry of the Lord in of the law in the life of the believer and number three the inability of the law to what the law cannot do in our life it cannot produce holiness in our life it's only condemn us and then we are turning to chapter eight where the Spirit of God is mentioned again and again of God we are able to live the life of the believer in a way that it is pleasing to the Lord and so I'm going to conclude with this beloved brothers and sisters Roman chapter 7 verses 7 to 13 and the lesson that we had before us in this meeting is what is the purpose of the Lord.

And the purpose of the law is to reveal sin the purpose of the law is to arouse sin the purpose of the law is to speak to us and ultimately show us that we will be we deserve to to be killed we deserve to die because we violated the law and the law show us how sinful sin is before a holy and a righteous God because the law is holy the law is a is just and good but the problem is our sin nature and thank God that we are new creation we receive a new creation we are born again that's why the Lord Jesus the Messiah said except the man be born again he cannot see or he cannot enter into the kingdom of God that's why Shaul Paul said in.

Christ Jesus in the Messiah Jesus there are new creation we have all together new nature divine nature that is able in the power of the Spirit of God to live for God but since we are still here although God declared already that we had died with Christ this sin nature is this struggle that we are going on here in this world until we get home to glory that struggle will be and as long as we are feeding on the Lord Jesus the Messiah and seeking the guidance of the Spirit of God unless we are doing so we will not be able to live a sanctified life a life that is set apart for the Lord in a proper way may the Lord help us may the Lord continue to guide us and teach us and may the Spirit of God will be the one that convict us and lead us to live a life that is pleasant.
