Well, Shalom and welcome to the Bible Classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel. We are very happy to be able to be together under the sound of the word. We want to welcome you all. Hopefully you have your Bibles with you. We are studying together, my dear friends, dear brothers and sisters, the book of Romans. Arrive at Roman chapter 7 and we are dealing now with the help of the Lord with the second part of Roman chapter 7 really from verses 14 to verse 25. So if you have your Bible available please open your Bible and turn with me to Romans 7 and verse 14 where I begin to read. And so Shaul Paul is writing to the Roman believers and he says, For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.

For that which I do, I allow not. For what I would, that do I not. And I'll read it again, verse 15. Now it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. For I know that in me that is in my flesh nothing good dwelleth. For to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. But the evil I will not to do that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good.

According to the inward man but i see another law in my members warring against the law of my mind and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members oh wretched man that i am who will deliver me from this body of death verse 25 Paul concludes i thank God I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord. So then with the mind, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, the law of sin. And I will stop here, dear brothers and sisters, with these verses in that interesting portion of the word of God. As I mentioned in our previous study together, beloved brothers and sisters, chapter 7 is important chapter to understand it seemed to be a little bit kind of a difficult to grasp because the apostle Paul is mentioning here the word i about 30 times he's using the word i in this passage in Roman chapter 7 specifically from verse 14 onward he also used the word me about 12 times he used the word my about four times.

And I used the word myself about one time. Basically what we have here in Romans chapter 7 verse 14 to 25, the lesson that we learn here from the Apostle Paul or the lesson that the Apostle Paul wants to communicate with the believers at Rome and with you and I, the struggle that believers experience here in this world on our journey on the way to glory. Apostle Paul described here, not an unbeliever, but he is describing a born-again believer in Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, who is experiencing in his or her life the daily struggles here in this world. And why? Because although we are a new creation, 2 Corinthians 5, 17, them that are in Christ Jesus are new creation all things that pass away all become new and yet at the same time we have this principle within us we have this sin the old nature that is still within us although we have a divine nature that can never never sin and therefore because we have these two opposing we might say entities and what happens.

Is that there is a constant conflict that existing here in this world just to remind you that in the epistle of John in first John chapter 3 and verse 9 from this verse we learn beloved brothers and sisters that the new nature the the new nature cannot sin first John 3 and verse 9 whosoever is born of And you remember we have gone over these two natures that we have. Although many Bible teachers teach that we no longer have the old nature, we are new and this old nature kind of set aside. Of the old nature definitely is presented and seen in our day-by-day life as believers. You remember the contrast.

The old nature is capable to sin. Romans 7 and verse 14. The new nature is incapable to sin. 1 John 3 verse 9. And the Scripture, the names that we have in the word of God that is given to the old nature and to the new nature. The old nature is called in the Word of God the flesh in John 3:6. The old nature is called in the Word of God the outward man in 2 Corinthians 4:16. The old nature is called the old man in Colossians 3:9. The old nature is called the natural man in 1 Corinthians 2:14. Human nature in Ephesians chapter 2 and verse 3, beloved brothers and sisters. And that is the old nature.

But on the other hand, the new nature, beloved brothers and sisters, has an altogether different name. It's called the inward man. It is called the new man in Colossians 3.10. It's called the spiritual man in 2 Corinthians 2.15. In 2 Peter 1 and verse 4. And we can just go on and go on and we can see the distinction between the old nature and the new nature. And while it is true, them that are in Christ Jesus are new creation. Those of us that in the Mashiach Yeshua are new creation. And yet we learn from Roman chapter 7 that there is within us, although we are new creation, died with Christ, we belong to him, and yet we find out that within the believer there is a capacity that is really linked with the old nature that still wants to do his own way, its own way, and still commit sin.

And so every time when we sin, it never has to do with the new divine nature. It always has to do with this capacity that is linked with the old nature. That he's always seeking to do his own will and i think i remind i just to remind you a believer have done something wrong and he had to stay before to stand before the judge and the judge he said to the judge judge i didn't do it it's not me it's it's a sin it's it's old nature that i have so the judge said well it may be not you the new nature but because nature is still with you and you have to be punished will put both of you in prison because you have violated a certain rule and a certain law and that's what really happened to us before God with respect to our standing we are new creation God looks at us through Christ through the Mashiach through Yeshua through Jesus but when it's come to our practice here whenever we disobey.

Always has to do with that capacity, this old nature that we have, and there is a constant struggle. According to Galatians 5, the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, and they are contrary to one to another. Galatians 5 tells us, verse 17, for the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh, contrary one to and to the other so that ye cannot do the things that ye would but if ye be led by the Spirit notice that ye are not under the law and then this is Galatians 5 verses 16 and 17. This is so interesting beloved brothers and sisters and maybe you and i can say it's not easy to understand but these truths are presented before us clearly and are presented before us by the apostle Paul himself.

Now again I want to emphasize that it's not easy to grasp yet we have to see what the apostle Paul is teaching us here in these verses. Well in our previous meeting together we have covered already the first 13 verses of. We are going to continue with verse 14 right now. But if you remember, we have learned in Romans 7 verses 1 to 6, what is the authority of the law over the believer? Well, the law has no longer authority over the believer in the Lord Jesus the Messiah. Why? Because we died with Christ. We died with Jesus the Messiah. When he died, we died. Because the law is holy and because Messiah Christ died for our sins we are now have entered into a relationship with him and no longer into the relationship with the law because every time if we're in a relationship to the law the law demands perfection we are sinners and therefore we deserve to die and you remember we have also learned as we have covered in our previous meeting that there are certain things that the law cannot do and there are certain things that the law does the law does but notice this number one the law cannot do for us what it cannot do for us the law cannot save us because the law is holy and it demands justice and we are sinners and therefore the law cannot save us the Messiah Jesus saved us Romans 3 verses 4 and 5.

Secondly the law cannot what the law cannot. Do with us the law cannot set us up sanctified us because we are still having in this old nature the Lord cannot make cannot perfect this old nature we might walk in a in a measure of light in the light of the truth of the law but every time we will find out that the law condemns us because we never came to a perfection we always fail short of the demands of the law Roman chapter 6 taught us this Thirdly, we learn that what the law cannot do to us anymore, the law cannot condemn us now. Why? Because we are no longer in the flesh.

We are in Messiah, in Christ. We are now dead to the law. Remember Romans 7 verses 1 to 6, which we have covered? When a Messiah died, we have died with him. The law is holy. The law is remaining. The law is pure. Messiah when Christ died he died on our behalf praise God he died he was buried and he rose again then fourthly what the law can do for us we have learned in our previous meeting together what the law can do the law can convict us of sin the law the holy law of God is like a mirror and because we the believers still are still in this world we are here in this world we still have this whole capacity within us, which is linked with the sin nature that we receive when we were born to our parents, well, the law convicts us of sins.

We have covered this in Romans 7, verses 7 to 13. Fifthly, what the law cannot do in us, not only what it cannot do for us, but what it cannot do in us, the law cannot deliver us from sin. You see, sometimes people say, well. I'm now a born again believer and I was saved by grace so I can live by law keeping. But the law cannot deliver us from ourselves because the more we try once again even as believers to walk with the we to obey the law and yet the law once again because we still have the sin nature it reveals to us our sins and it convicts us.

Deliver us from sin because the law reveals our own sin nature and this is Roman chapter 3 verse verse 20 and we will see now as we are going into Roman chapter 7 verses 14 to 25 and finally what we learned in our previous meeting together what the law cannot do by us what it cannot do by us the law can thing the law can be fulfilled in us now why because it is done through the person and the power of the Holy Spirit of God which is indwelling in us in other words we can live and obey the law with the power of the Holy Spirit of God which is indwelling in us and that we will learn when we will enter into Romans.

Six things that we have learned what the law cannot do for us what the law cannot do with us what the law can do to us what the law can do for us what the law cannot do in us and what the law can do by us these are amazing points that we have to learn with the help of the Lord so now as we are we have arrived now we have learned that in chapter 7 verses 7 to 13 that the ministry of the law the law reveals sin the law arouses sin we learn from these from these verses beloved brothers and sisters the law you you and i can see that the law arouses sin according to verses 8 and 9 in Roman chapter 7 it says but sin taking occasion by the commandment God gave a commandment and i didn't obey the.

Is active oh here's the commandment and i will and and because i i failed to do this commandment of the Lord notice it says it says that that sin taken occasion by the commandment wrought in me all manner of desires for without law the law sin was dead and verse 9 says but i was once alive without the law once he said but when the commandment came sin revived And I died. In his early stages of his walk with the Lord, the Apostle Paul, he's really explaining, I tried to live on the basis of the law now that I'm a new believer and I needed to realize that the law would kill me every time because the law is holy and my sin nature is so sinful that I'm depraved by nature.

To do on my own because this sin nature that i have with me and you will see at the end of the chapter the Paul said oh wretched man that i am speaking about his capacity in his sin nature that is linked with his sin and nature so now let's look at the verses 14 to verse 25. You remember we said that in these verses Paul uses the word i 30 times in this verse Paul used the word me 12 times. In these verses the Apostle Shaul Paul used the word my four times. And in these verses the Apostle Shaul Paul used the word myself one time. It is I, me, my, and myself.

I, me, my, and myself. This is exactly what you and I are experiencing as believers today when we are not looking unto Yeshua, unto Jesus. When we are not occupied with Him, when we are not led by the Spirit of God, it's always me, my, I, and myself. That's what it is. And so notice what Paul is telling us here in these verses. First of all, verse 14. The law cannot change us, beloved brothers and sisters. It cannot change the old nature. The old nature make it better the old nature notice it says in verse 14 the apostle Paul is saying he says for we know notice that we know on the basis of the word of God that the law is spiritual but the problem is not with the law he said but i am carnal i'm fleshy and i'm sold under sin the law is spiritual meaning that it was given by the holy Spirit of God it's the highest standard of God a holy and a righteous God who said to Israel when he gave to Moshe and Israel the law be ye holy for i am holy God demanded this from his earthly people of Israel and we have it quoted here in the new covenant in the brit that we are called to be holy to live sanctified life so the law the same law that could not.

Not save me could not save one because the law demand perfection and those that fail to submit to it he it will kill him because they deserve death so not only that the law could not save me but the law could not change the old nature you see beloved brothers and sisters the law is spiritual and because the law was given by the Holy Spirit of God Ruach HaKodesh but the problem is that we have a sin nature and the sin capacity still within us and we cannot if we try to please the Lord to live on the basis of the law with this with this capacity that we have within us with the old nature it just doesn't work so he says in verse 14.

God nature cannot be changed. Man by nature does not wish to do the will of God. And so we read here in verse 14, for we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal. Notice the word for carnal is another word for fleshing, the carnality, a believer that is not walking in the strength and the power of the Holy Spirit, God, and he's walking in the power of his carnality in the flesh, cannot be pleasing to God. Just a verse, if you turn with me to 1 Corinthians 3, and there, beloved brothers and sisters, to read with me the first verse, 1 Corinthians 3 and verse 1, there we read, listen to what we read in verse 1, And I, brethren, Paul said to the believers at Corinth, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual.

See, they are brethren, they were believers, but they were not spiritually minded. So he says, I cannot speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal. Even as unto babe in Christ, I fed you with milk and not with meat. Ye now are able for ye are yet carnal for where is there is among you envying and strife and divisions are ye not carnal and walk as men verse 4 says for why one say i am of Paul and another say i am of apollos are ye not yet carnal notice he used the word carnal here about four times when he writing to the corinthian believers in 1 Corinthians chapter 3.

Oh yes, they were born again. Oh yes, they were having new creations, but they were walking in light of this capacity of the old nature. They were new creations, but still they were walking as babies, they were envying, there was strife, there was visions they were proud they were they were pulling in one direction or another and just read the whole epistle to the corinthian you see the condition the carnality that existed in the life of the believers at Corinth which is you and i are capable to do the very same thing and we can definitely see it in today's. Living God so it's not a matter of not being born again not having new nature and new life in Christ anyone that is belonging to the Lord but there is beloved brothers and sisters there is that which is the old nature the old capacity to lead us away from the Lord and so what we read here we know Paul says in Romans 7 verse 14 the law is spiritual the law is Holy, he already said in verse 12, the law is just, he said it, the law is good.

Holy, kadosh, just, tzaddik, good, tov. But now he adds to it, the law is spiritual, ruchani, Ruach, the Spirit of God. But I, and Paul now is speaking about himself, I am carnal, and I am sold under sin. In other words, what he's saying. I am not led by the Spirit of God as believer and when I am allowing myself to walk in the light of this old capacity the Adamic nature I am unable to live for God and therefore the law cannot beloved brothers and sisters the law cannot change the believer in his own nature, cannot improve it, cannot fix it. That's why we do have new nature, beloved brothers and sisters.

Just turn with me to John chapter 6 for a moment. John chapter 6, there the Lord Jesus said to Nicodemus, first of all, John 3, and then John 6. John 3, the Lord spoke to Nicodemus, and he said to him, He answered to him in verse 3, and he said to him, Verily, verily, I said to you, except a man be born again, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. And you remember what he said in verse 6, that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. You see, beloved brothers and sisters, that the old, the flesh is the flesh. It cannot be fixed that's why the new life new nature had to be given to the one that have trusted in the Lord Jesus the Messiah in John chapter 6 and verse 63 we read it is the spirit that quickeneth but the flesh profiteth notice that the flesh profit is nothing so they it cannot be improved so the law of God cannot improve the flesh of the now even if you and I when we are born of the Spirit born again new new life new creation the law cannot still change the old nature that we have you cannot be saved on a basis of the law but you cannot even live because the law is holy and the law is demanding holiness and sin deserve to be punished and the law would kill us every time.

So now that in verse 14, we learn that the law is spiritual. The law deals with the inner man, with the inside. The law is dealing with the inside. The law, because it is spiritual, you have to have the Spirit of God indwelling you. And that's how the law is spiritual. The Holy Spirit of God is leading the believer and helping the believer. To walk and to fulfill the law in the power of the Spirit of God but definitely the law cannot improve or change the old nature and so notice that now from verse 15 Romans chapter 7 verse 15 all the way to verse 21 you will notice that the law cannot enable us even to do good.

How can you speak against the law like this? But nobody's speaking against the law. The opposite. The law is holy. And because the law is holy and we have a sin nature, the law cannot actually, brothers and sisters, the law cannot enable the old nature, the sin nature, cannot enable us to do good. And this is what the Apostle Paul is sharing about himself. That's why he used the word I. May use some imaginary person, but Paul, Shaul Paul, is very sincere in his sharing the word with his brethren, with the Roman believers, and he's opening his heart and he's telling, he's showing the struggle that exists within the believer.

Now, mind you, whenever the believer is turning himself to the Lord by faith, Spirit of God to guide him or her, that struggle can come to an end. The problem is that I believe most of us, and actually all of us, I don't think there's any man that ever, in a full sense of the word, have lived always as believers in Romans chapter 8. These are the struggles that the people of God are going through every day from verse 21 onward, And you can see so interesting what's happening here. Notice that in verses 15 and 16, Paul shows the fact that while we have new nature, yet we have this struggle because of the old capacity that we have.

There are so many names that Bible teachers give it. Way you may call it, it still come from the nature that we receive when we were born to our parents, the sin nature. And so notice this in verses. Actually, Paul is, somebody call it like that, Paul is really lamenting here. Somebody call it lamenting or others call it sorrowing here. It's like a struggle that one is experiencing in his life and you and i know this we want to live for God as new believers in Yeshua the Messiah we want to live for God we want to do the right thing we want to please God but there's a battle that is going on every time every day in our own life and so notice this in verses first of all verses 15 and 16 notice the two times that the word there is i number one and there is i number two.

Way Paul have these two capacities or you want to call it a new nature and that which link with the old nature because after all we died with Christ with the Messiah and notice this Paul presenting before us the number one eye and number two eye the number one eye cannot do the good that it wants to do and the number two eye this is the The evil thing that, actually, let me put it this way. It is the one eye want to do the will of the Lord and the other eye want to do its own thing. So, number one, notice that I'm reading verses 15 and verses 16 of our chapter.

In verse 15 it says, for what, for that, and that's why I printed for myself the new King James of Romans chapter 7 and verse 14 onwards. Was easily to read than the King James. And so I'm going to read it from the New King James. Notice that the verse 15 and 16. For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, I do not practice. But what I hate, that I do. Verse 16. If then I do what I will not to do, what I don't want to do, I agree with the law that it is good. Now notice that. I read it in the New King James, just to give it a little bit, make it more easy to understand.

I'll just read it once again from the King James, verse 15. Would that do i not but what i hate that do i if then i do that which i do not a consent or do not agree i am sorry if if if if then i do that which i would not then i consent unto the law that it is good very hard reading in the in the king James it's easy here in the new king James notice what Paul is saying here in these two verses he's showing to us the struggle in verse 15 whatever i'm doing that is just not pleasing to the Lord the wrong thing i do not understand why i do that for what i want to do verse 15b this is i don't practice i want to please the Lord i want to live for the Lord i want to do the.

Right thing i want to honor the Lord i want to i want to be honest in my life i want to be holy in my life i want to i want to do that which is pleasing to my Lord and my Savior but somehow i find now verse 16 verse 15 at the end he said whatever i want to do i do not practice this and what i hate to do a believer it is a new creation hate to sin because the sin, the sin nature, the capacity of that link with the old nature wants to do its own course. But 1 John 3:9, the new nature cannot sin, it's holy, set apart because God gave us this divine nature, the new nature, we are new creation.

So Paul is presenting a struggle, very real in our life. And sisters. You and I know this in our day-by-day living. We want to live for the Lord. We want to do the right thing. We want to be honest. We want to be holy. We want to be fair. We want to be just. We want to honor the Lord. And yet sin, the wrong thing, rises up and we somehow again pulled in that one direction that dishonor the Lord. So verse 16, Paul come to the conclusion here at verse 16, then I do what I will not to do. If I do what I don't want to do, I agree.

And by the way, that I, the I, there is the one I that represents the divine nature. And there is another I that represents the sin nature, the capacity that we have because of our sin nature. So we, in verse 16, he says. To do, I agree with the law that the law is good. And the law is not a problem. The law never was the problem. The law is holy because God is holy. But the lesson that we learn here is that this old sinful capacity that we have cannot be fixed, cannot be improved, cannot be corrected. That's why we needed to be born again, born from above, born of the Holy Spirit of God.

We needed to be linked now with the man that came from heaven, the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and no longer with the man was created here on earth Adam that have sinned and plunged the whole human race into sin you see we agree Paul is saying in verse 16 of our chapter Roman 7 verse 16 he says in verse 16 i agree or i consent unto the law i agree that the law that the law is good it is good this is holy and you don't. To verse 12 the law is holy verse 12b the law is just verse 12c the law is good verse 14 the law is spiritual but the problem is with me with my sin nature i am sold under sin because i have inherited my parents nature and the Adamic nature as David's says in the Psalm in sin did my mother conceived me in sin nature I've inherited the sin nature now we continue in verse 17 Paul now understand the fact that sin dwelleth in him and he says in verse 17 now notice that now then it is no more I notice that no more I but the sin that dwelleth in me now again Again, I has to do with the divine, the new nature.

Me has to do with the sin nature or the capacity to sin, capacity to do evil because I'm linked to the Adamic nature. Now, I don't know how else to explain this, beloved brothers and sisters. That we are here on this earth, as long that we haven't died physically and we are still on this earth, as long that as we have accepted the Lord, we become born again when we live here upon the face of this earth, the believer is going through the struggle each day of our life. Of the flesh. There is constantly flesh lusters against the Spirit and the Spirit against the flesh and they are contrary to one another.

Whichever way one can explain this, it still shows us that we are here, still here and now. We are called to walk in the power of the Spirit of God. We are called to walk under the law of Christ, the law of the Messiah. And yet day by day living in our life, we are struggling day by day. Because we have this sin capacity within us and so Paul says in verse 17 now then it is no more I but it is not as they do this whatever I do the wrong is not my but the sin that dwelleth in me and that sin is related to the sin nature that's the only way we sin because we are linked with the sin nature Now notice that, by the way, up to verse 17 is really the first lamentation or the first, we might call it, the first sorrows that Paul feels in his heart.

And it's like, it's really lamenting. Look, I want to do the right thing, but I don't do it. And I don't want to do the wrong thing, and I do it. Now in verse 18, all the way to verse 20, Paul presents before us the second lamentation. Lamentation, that he's lamenting and he's sorrowful over the condition of the struggle that is going in our life. And so notice that in verse 18, Paul shows two things once again. Number one, no good thing is in the old nature. And number two, no power is in the new nature. Now this is also, you see, brothers and sisters, these are so difficult.

Yet profound and needful to understand verses in the word of God. Two things we learn in verse 18. Number one, that there is no good in the old nature. I know, notice that he says in verse 18, I know that in me that is in my flesh dwells no good thing. That is a fact. Now you and I might say, no, no, no. I am still, you know, I'm pretty decent. I'm a good person. And the reality is no good. There's no one that is good. You remember Romans 14, what David said? Let me read you this verse. I'm sorry, Psalm 14. Psalm 14, David said, God, listen to this.

God, the Lord, is looking down from heaven. Verse 2. He's looking upon the children of men to see if there were any that did understand, understanding their mind, and seek God. This is in their heart. And the conclusion is, they are all gone aside. They are all together become filthy. There is none that doeth good. No. You no not me no not one that's what Shaul Paul is saying to us here in verse 18 I know that in me that is in my flesh again that flesh is the human nature the flesh is the humanity within us whichever way we want to call it is still linked with the nature that we receive when we were born to Adam to our parents as descendants of Adam and Eve.

So I know that in me that is in my flesh dwell is no good thing. Even though we became believers and we have the new nature which cannot sin, 1 John 3, 9, this old capacity is still within us. This principle, this sin nature, or that which is linked with the sin nature. Is not no good the heart is deceitful Jeremiah said when he spoke to his people of Israel above all things who can know it God says I know it I know the heart I know the condition of all humanity and so now the second thing that Paul says in verse 18 not only that there is no good in the old nature or in the capacity or whatever we call it the same nature there is also no power in the new nature to help us to walk in the will of the Lord on the basis of law keeping.

We need the help of the Spirit of God. And that's what he says in verse 18b. For the will is present with me. I want to do the things of God. But how to perform that which is good, I found not. You see, I do want, there is a will within me. Of the new capacity I should say the new nature that I have because of the new nature I want to please God Paul said for me to live in is Christ is Mashiach the life that I now live I live by the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me Galatians 2 that's the only way to live life and in pleasing to the Lord is in the power of the Spirit of God as we are occupied with the glorified Messiah.

And so notice the two things that we learn in verse 18. Number one, there is no good in the old nature whatsoever. Number two, there is no power in the new nature to help us to walk in pleasing to the Lord on our own. The new nature needs the Holy Spirit of God. Activated to cause us to live for the Lord and that's why it says in verse 18 for I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing for the will is present with me but how to perform it that which is good I found not he's lamenting you might say again this is part of the second lamentation that he has that he's in a sense sorrowing over the And don't you feel these brothers and sisters just to make it practical?

You know, we want to do the right thing. And yet we fail. We want to please our brothers, our sisters, our friends, our parents, our husbands, our wives. We want to do the right thing. And yet again and again we find ourselves not doing so. I fail again. I came short again. What's the answer? The answer, of course, is the person of the Lord Jesus in the power of His Holy Spirit to help us to please God. So even the new nature that we have, which means that we are forgiven and we belong to the Lord, the new nature on its own, that new nature needs the Spirit of God to empower it.

When we will arrive to chapter 8 you will see that you don't find the word "I" in Romans 8 so much but you'll find the person of the Holy Spirit of God again and again and again because the Christian life the Meshichi life the life of the Messiah follower is not in the power of the flesh the life of the Messiah ought to be done in the power of the Holy Spirit of God lived in the power of the Holy Spirit of God So now in verse 19, Paul is really rehearsed what he said before in verse earlier. Notice that in verse, I'm reading verse 19, he said, for the good that I would, and I'm just going to read it in the New King James, verse 19, for the good that I will to do, I do not do.

He is really repeating the same lamentation that you have already mentioned earlier in verse 15. You remember what he said in verse 15? He said in verse 15 here in this verse 19 he's rehearsing he's in a sense he's lamenting he's sad because that capacity within us even as believers born again belong to heaven belong to Yeshua Jesus the Messiah, on our way to glory. We will be with him for time and for eternity, never to sin anymore, never to dishonor him anymore. But here and now, the struggle is going on. And the spiritual man, the spiritual woman, the spiritual believer is walking in this world, or is called to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit of God.

Beloved brothers and sisters Paul is exclaiming that he has a sin capacity within him in verse 20 and he revealed the principle law that we that is existing notice that let me read these two verses again I will read them from the New King James Version verse 20 and 21 he says now if I do what or if I do what I do not want to do It is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. In other words, if I do not do the things that I really want to do and I'm not successful to do it, you see, it's not me. It's not the new nature, 1 John 3, 9, because the new nature cannot sin.

Let me reread to you once again 1 John 3 and verse 9. Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin. For his seed, notice that, remaineth in him, and he cannot sin because he is born of God. It's always the old nature. It's never the new nature. Every time that we dishonor the Lord, it's always this old sinful nature, the capacity that still exists within us. We have died with Christ. We belong to Him. We have a new life. We have a new nature, a divine nature. But every time, it's not me, but it is the sin that dwells within us. Me and again that sin that dwell within me verse 20 is linked with the sin nature so i'm reading again verse 20 and 21 where it says now if i do what i will not to do it is no longer i that do it but sin that dwelleth in me linking with the sin nature the Adamic nature I find then, notice now verse 21, Paul is now in verse 21, he reveals a principle that each believer still have within him.

It's a law, it's a principle that is still existing, even though we are born again. Because sometimes people say, oh no, I'm born again. I never sinned. Oh, I've never sinned. I'm born of the Spirit of God. I'm born again and I don't do anything wrong anymore. Just go and read 1 John chapter 1. 1 John, in fact, I will read that in this moment. Notice that in 1 John chapter 1 and chapter 2 where it says, you know, in 1 John chapter 1, if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not within us. This is 1 John 1 verse 8. Then verse 10, if we say that we have not sinned, we make him, this is God, a liar, and his word is not in us.

And in between you have verse 9, but if we sin and we do, if we confess our sins, he is faithful to forgive us and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Cleanse us from all unrighteousness. So if somebody says, I do not sin, well, we really deceive ourselves. If someone says, no, we have not sinned, really, one called God a liar. But, Paul says in verse 21 here, notice that, and I'm reading again, verse 21, I find then a law, principle, That evil is present with me. And then he says, the one who wills to do good. In other words, there is an evil present with me, even though I will to do good, but there is an evil that is present with me.

That expression, evil, in verse 21, really has to do with a principle. He found a law. Notice that? Then a law. That law is a principle. Now, it's not only the law of Moses, but it's a fact. It's a principle. There's a law. There's a fact. There's a principle that when I would do good, when I want to do good, evil is present with me. That means that I still have this evil capacity within me. And that's the struggle that you and I are experiencing each day of our life. So now, brothers and sisters, another five minutes or ten minutes I just want to conclude here in verses 22 23 24 and 25 so we can conclude chapter 7 in this meeting in these verses 22 23 24 25 we find out that the law it cannot enable us to do good but also that the law cannot set us free we can be set free by not by the law but we can only be set free by the person of our Lord.

Jesus, the Messiah, and in the power of the Holy Spirit of God. So let me read these four verses. Paul, as a believer with a new nature, delight in the pleasing to the Lord. And so he says in verse, I'm reading verse 22, for I delight in the law of God after the inward man. Reading it again in verse 22, law of God according to the inward man this inward man is the new nature this inward man is the divine nature this inward man is the nature that we receive when we have accepted the Lord Jesus the Messiah so this new nature according to verse 22 delight in the law of God i want to please God i want to live for God but then verse 22 Paul is really see that we have.

A notice that i'm reading we have another nature that war against us and so we read in verse 23 now but i see another law another principle in my members he says warring against the law of my mind again against my new nature so you see he's seeing a warfare that is going on between the new nature the divine nature that is as we read in Galatians 5 the flesh lusts us against the Spirit you see here we might say two capacities two natures verse 23 i see another law in my members worrying against the law of my mind is the new nature the divine nature and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members so i find he's saying Paul that there is a.

Principle that caused me constantly to bring me down and to turn me away from the Lord when I do not allow myself to be led by the Spirit of God. And so in verse 24 and verse 25, Paul is really presenting now. In verse 24, verse 25, Paul is asking a question, but the Spirit of God is leading him to the person of the Lord Jesus, not only for salvation that he has already but the Lord Jesus the Messiah is the one that if we are occupied with him as believers he is able to help us and deliver us from living a life of sin and failure and so he's saying in verses 24 and verse 25 and I'm reading and we will conclude with this Romans chapter 7 or notice that this is all.

Oh wretched man that i am notice that he speak about the old nature the capacity i am a wretched man by nature he's saying it now as in the we might say in the prime of his life as a believer he doesn't say all wretched man that i was you notice that he said i was wretched before and now i am a good man no he's speaking about the old nature the old capacity that link with the old nature He says, oh, wretched man that I am. He's a believer. He's a child of God. He's still speaking about that capacity, that sin nature. As he mentioned earlier, I know that in me that is in my flesh dwelleth no good thing in verse 18.

Now in verse 24, he says, oh, wretched man that I am. And then he says, who shall deliver me from the body of this death? Who shall deliver me? Deliver me, but who shall deliver me? No rules, no laws, even the law of Moses cannot deliver us from this body of humiliation because of our sin capacity, our sin nature. And it is who? It is a person. The very same person that saved us is the very same person that is able to deliver us as we walk here in this world. You will notice, brothers and sisters, the more we are occupied with Yeshua, the more we are setting our affection on Him, on Jesus the Messiah, the more we are able to be pleasing to the Lord.

The less we are occupied with Him and the more we are occupied with ourselves and with this world and its system and we are unable to live life for God here in this world. We fail every time. And so we conclude here, and I'm going to conclude here with verse 25. Who shall deliver me from this body of this death? Verse 24. I thank God. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Through Yeshua the Messiah our Lord. So with the mind, the inward mind that is, I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh, I serve the law of sin. Who you will serve? Who are you going to serve?

Are you going to serve God? Well, it has to be in the power of the Holy Spirit of God as we are occupied with the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah. That's the only way. There is no other way for the believer, he or she, to be able to please the Lord, to serve the Lord and walk with Him. Are looking unto Jesus, looking unto Yeshua, the author and the finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down on the right hand of the majesty on high. He is the one with the power of the Holy Spirit that is able to help us to live a life that is pleasing to the Lord.

And in the will of the Lord in our next meeting together, we will enter to Romans chapter 8, where we will learn how the Holy Spirit of God is able to help us to walk the life of the believer here on earth, as long as the Lord has left us here.
