Servants of Righteousness

Continuing his study through the letter to the Romans (אֶל־הָרוֹמִים), Brother Gideon Levytam explores Romans 6:16-23, focusing on the theme of sanctification in the believer's life. He explains that through faith in Yeshua HaMashiach, we have been set free from our old master, sin, whose wages are death. This is not a freedom to do as we please, but a profound liberation to choose a new Master.

Brother Gideon teaches that believers are now called to yield themselves willingly as servants of righteousness. By yielding our will to God, we are no longer in bondage to our old nature but are free to bear fruit unto holiness. This new life of obedience culminates not in death, but in the glorious gift of God: eternal life through our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah.

Well, shalom to you all, my dear friends, dear brothers and sisters, those of you that are able to join us for the Holy Scriptures in Israel Bible Classes, where we study the Word of God from a first century Hebrew messianic perspective. We pray and trust that the Lord will use His Word for the benefit of both Jewish and non-Jewish individuals, and our heart's desire is to simply present the person of our Lord, Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, for both the Jew and Gentile alike. And how wonderful to know that knowing Jesus, knowing Yeshua, provides for us eternal salvation to anyone that will believe on Him. So we will pray together, and I hope you have your Bible.

With you we are starting together from the book of Romans we are in Romans chapter 6 if you have your Bible please make sure to open it to Romans chapter 6 and we will just take it to the Lord in prayer Abba our father we thank you that we can bring all our cares to our Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah bless us as we study the Scripture together we pray in his precious name. Amen. Amen. So, Romans chapter 6, and we are going to read, beloved brothers and sisters, from verse 16 today to the end of the chapter, and we hope with the Lord's help that in this meeting we will conclude with the sixth chapter of the book of Romans.

So the apostle Paul, Shaul Paul, He's writing now to his brethren at the city of Rome and he's continued to say to them in verse 16, "Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness. That ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that from that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh. For as ye have yielded, your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

For when ye were the servants of sins, ye were free from righteousness. What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? Verse 23 says, through Yeshua HaMashiach, our Lord. And I will stop here with the reading of these last verses of Romans chapter 6, verses 16 to verse 23. Well, beloved brothers and sisters, to remind ourselves, it's always good to remind ourselves. And sometimes I'm repeating myself, but you know, it's a very Jewish thing to do, to repeat, because it is, even today, if you go to any Bible school in the land of Israel, repetition is one of the most important thing to help us to remember, because the more we repeat, and hopefully it's not redundant, it will be done in order to benefit us, the more we repeat things, we are reminded of the importance of our relationship with the Lord, and we get better to understand the Word of God.

Romans chapter 6 and chapter 7 and chapter 8, we are in a section in the book of Romans that the Apostle Paul deal with the theme of sanctification. And that is important. To be sanctified is to be hallowed, to be set apart in a practical way. Remember Romans chapter 1 to chapter 16 divide itself with these five S's. Salvation, sanctification, sovereignty, and service. One to three, sin. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Chapter three, verse 21 to 521, salvation. God provided salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. In chapter six, verse one to the end of chapter eight, sanctification, to be set apart in a practical way for the Lord in our life.

Chapter 6 to the end of chapter 8 chapter 9 10 and 11 is the sovereignty of God in relation to the nation of Israel past present and future when he will regather Israel in the future day at the end of the tribulation and chapter 12 to the end of chapter 16 is the service of the saints of God as we live here in this world and seek to serve the Lord a call to serve the Lord well are in this third section the third s in the study of the book of Romans sanctification and we are really now beloved brothers and sisters in the second part of Roman chapter six and in Roman chapter six we have the the second part of the that sixth chapter that really deals with.

Is the believers need to yield to yield our body to God to the Lord to yield the members of our body in order to honor the Lord and to be set apart in a practical way for our Lord Jesus the Messiah so remember that there were also four questions that are being asked in the book of Romans chapter 6 7 and 8 and those questions we are mentioning them again and again. Romans 6 verse 1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid. Then Romans chapter 6 and verse 15 the second question What then? Shall we sin because we are not under law but under grace?

God forbid. This is the second question that we have. This is the third question in Romans chapter 7. And the fourth question is in Romans chapter 8 and verse 31, where we do read, beloved brothers and sisters, in verse 31, What shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Four questions. Of God as we live here in this world well we have already covered beloved brothers and sisters really the first 15 verses of Roman chapter 6 and we did say that in Roman chapter 6 we have these two questions verse 1 what shall we say then shall we continue in sin that grace may abound that someone might ask and he says listen if we are no longer under the law and we are under the grace and God and the law cannot condemn us anymore because the Lord Jesus the Messiah was judged on our behalf and we have been accepted by him because we trusted in him and God have extended his grace to us so we can continue in sin because God will extend to us more grace and more grace some might ask and Paul says no he's saying no we should not continue in.

In order that God, a willful sin, consistent sin, that God will extend more grace. Yes, He will extend more grace, but as believers we are not called to continue on in a willful, habitual sin. God forbid. That we have covered in the first, really, 14-15 verses. But now we are entering into the second question that is found in verse 15. 15 but you and i remember that Paul answered the first question in chapter 6 when he reminded the brethren at Rome that they need to know notice that he said in verse 3 know ye not know ye not that so many of us have been baptized unto Jesus Christ we were baptized unto his death speak about the Spirit of God baptized us, put us into the relationship with the Lord.

He died, we died. Some 2,000 years ago when Yeshua was on the Roman cross and he died, he died for the sin of this world. And by believing on him, God has immersed us and put us into his death. And we belong to him now. So we have to know it in our mind. You remember he used the word to know verse 6 knowing this that our old man is crucified with him then verse 9 knowing that Christ being raised from the dead he died no more death has no more dominion over him in other words when Yeshua Jesus the Messiah died he will never die anymore and therefore you and i are now to know that we belong to him he died for your sins and mine therefore we are not to live with an attitude of sin in our life on an ongoing basis and then he said not only that we are to know it in our in our mind we are also to reckon it true in our hearts that's where we covered verse 11 likewise reckon ye also yourself to be dead indeed unto sin to reckon simply mean to.

Take it into account to reckon it as true to reckon it as true it happened when Christ died we died when we have accepted him although we still live here but positionally we died in him and now we have entered into this section that used the word yield and you notice we did read already in verse 13 i'll read verse 12 let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body that he should obey it in the lust thereof and then notice he says in verse 13 neither yield your members as an instrument of unrighteousness are to sin but yield yourselves unto God notice that word yield you will notice that he may he will mention it again in verse 19 Ye have yielded your members as servants of uncleanness in the past, but now yield your members as servants of righteousness in the present.

So the word yield is connected with the will. To know has to do with our mind, to reckon has to do with our heart, and to yield has to do with our will. Jesus, the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, who said, Father, not my will, but thine be done. He yielded himself, and he was judged on our behalf. So you and I will have eternal salvation. And so now, beloved brothers and sisters, we have already covered the first, In fact, what we did in our meeting together, in our previous meeting together, we really have covered up to verse 15. And to just remind us that verses 12, I should say verses 14 to verse 23, deal with the answer as to why the believers are called to yield to the Lord.

You remember in verses 12 and 13, the question was, how we are to yield? And the answer was, do not constantly and continuously allow sin to reign in your life and in your body. And secondly, verse 13, how the believers are to yield is, do not yield, don't give over the members of your body unto unrighteousness. To take place in our life. In other words, when something such as this has come and a time we fall into it, don't yield to it. Turn to the Lord in confession and repentance, and He, by the Spirit of God, will assist us to be restored into fellowship with the Lord. But now in these verses that we are dealing with now is not so much as to how, but why.

I why should every believer in Jesus the Messiah in our Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah why should we yield we have to realize that we are now belong to the Lord the moment we have accepted Yeshua Jesus our Lord and our Messiah we belong to him we became new creation 2nd Corinthians 5:17 and therefore we are we have this new man we are new creation and therefore as Paul says in Galatians 2 i am crucified with Christ nevertheless yes i live he said but the life that i live i live by the faith of the son of God who loved me and gave himself for me he says i have died with the Messiah we belong to him and yet i we are living here we are here but the life that we live is the life.

Christ the Mashiach lived in us and so now as believers in the Lord Jesus and the Lord Yeshua we are to live a life that is pleasing to him here in this world so that's the reason and so now in these there are three points that are parcel here closing chapter 6 and giving us reasons as to why we why the Romans why every true believer should yield to the Lord here in this world number one we have covered in verses 14 and 15 because of God's grace to us again we read verses 14 and 15 for sin shall have no more dominion over you for you are not under law but under grace that's it we are no longer under law why because the law that of course was given to our forefathers to the people of Israel.

Holy and Israel or you and I we all are sinners and the law condemned us and the law Judges that we all deserve to die so instead of us dying because the law is so holy and we are so sinful the Mashiach Christ the Messiah died in our stand and therefore because we believed on him the law is no longer can condemn us because someone paid for the price of our sin. So we are now under grace. In other words, we now have received forgiveness, the grace of God, and therefore we are to remember that sin shall not have any more dominion over you because you are no longer under law.

Remember when we read in chapter 3, chapter 4, revealed our sin nature because the law is so pure and holy it revealed our sin nature our sinfulness it was like a mirror that shows us the evil that exists in the human heart you remember what God said concerning mankind you saw the imagination of the of the human. Heart is only evil continually so the law condemned us but now he extended grace to us and therefore the reason the first reason is because God's grace is towards us that's why someone might say verse 15 what shall we say then shall we sin because we are under not under the law but under grace and he says no God forbid may it never be perish the thought no at all No, it's not now.

We are no longer to live the way we used to live before we turn our hearts to the Lord Jesus, the Messiah. God forbid, may it never be. So in verses 16 to verse 20, he gives us the second reason as to why the believers are to yield to God. And the second reason is because of God's gift of freedom. Freed us. And that's why you will notice that he's using here in these verses 16 to verse 20, he's using the word servants or slaves many times. Again, notice verse 16, we are free to serve God in obedience and not to serve sin, not anymore, to serve sin notice verse 16 know ye not that to whom ye yield here's the word yield again to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey his servants ye are to whom ye obey whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness This thing is not easy to understand, dear brothers and sisters, because there is a struggle.

There are these two natures that are working one against the other, and we are struggling as believers. Although we are born again, born of the Spirit of God, we have new life, new nature, divine nature, which cannot sin. Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? God forbid, he's saying. Don't you know that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey? His servants ye are to whom ye obey. You see, before we have turned to the Lord Jesus the Messiah, we were servants to sin. But now that we have turned to him by faith and accepted him, and we receive a divine nature, a new nature, a new life, we are born from above, born of the Spirit of God, we are called to serve him, to serve God, to serve righteousness, not sin anymore.

And that's why he says in the second part of verse 16, he says, unto death or obedience unto righteousness you see sin lead to death you remember how sin entered into this world disobedience of Adam and Eve led their sin of disobedience led to judgment to death first of all spiritual death, later on, physical death. And had they have not received forgiveness from the Lord, they would be eternally dead, eternally separated from God. So Paul is saying, look, he says, whether of sin unto death or obedience unto righteousness. Of John, Yeshua the Messiah, before he died on the shameful Roman cross, he said to his disciples and those that were around him in Romans 8 verse 34, especially the religious Jewish leaders of Israel, he told them because they assume that they are not servants to sin, that they are not slaves to anyone.

So he said to them in John 8 Verse 34, notice what he says in verse 34, Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I said to you, whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. Verse 35, And the servant abideth not in the house forever, but the son abideth forever. If the son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Is when the Messiah, when the Son of God came to this world and had freed us by being penalized on our behalf, and we have trusted in Him and He forgave our sin, He made us free. And free indeed. So we don't need to continue on to live in the way we used to live in the past before we became born from above.

Let me read to you another verse in 2nd Peter chapter 2 just to read this verse 2nd Peter chapter 2 and there we read in verse 17 2nd Peter chapter 2 verse 17 these these people are the false teachers these are wells without water clouds that are carried with the a tempest to whom the mist of darkness is reserved forever. Verse 18, for when they speak great and swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lust of the flesh, through the wantonness, those that were clean escape from them who live in error. Then verse 19, while they promise them liberty. Notice that sin leads us into bondage and bondage ultimately into death.

Now, of course, for the believer, every time if we allow sin in our life, it doesn't take our salvation because our salvation we never gained. Our salvation we received it as a gift through the Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah but what happened when we become servants of sin or we when we allow ourselves to serve sin we are only being led astray and are not really a pleasing the Lord and he we are called to be obedient unto righteousness so you notice the contrast in verse 16 we are free to serve God in obedience. We don't need to live the way we used to live in the past now because we are born from above.

We have the Holy Spirit of God within us. We belong to the Lord. We are no longer servants of sins. We have died with Christ, with the Mashiach. In verse 17, and I'm back to Romans 6 and verse 17, ourselves to the Lord in our life is not only because we are free to serve God in obedience, but we are no longer servants of sins. But we obeyed that form of doctrine which we received. Notice verse 17, but God be thanked that ye were the servants of sins, that's past. Ye have obeyed notice that from the heart that notice the word form of doctrine that form of doctrine simply apply to the gospel that form of doctrine or form of teaching has to do with the gospel we receive the gospel the in Hebrew the glad tidings that Christ Mashiach have died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried and he rose again on the third day for our justification.

We receive that form of teaching, the Besorah, the gospel, the glad tidings. And because we receive that, we are now identifying with Yeshua, with Jesus, with the Lord. And therefore, notice Paul is saying, but God be thanked that ye, speaking to the Roman believers, See, these brethren from the city of Rome heard the message of the gospel. Gospel they've accepted the Lord Jesus the Messiah as their Lord and Savior they receive that formed form of doctrine and it's interesting the word is form you know when you think about form of doctrine you think about the um when you have a certain form like a tablet you know when you when you a template we should say when you receive that form and you've been placed into the template belonging to the Lord you receive the truth of God you receive your forgiveness of sin you receive your relationship with the Lord you receive eternal life you belong to him you receive the new nature and therefore he's saying to them in verse 17 you receive that which was delivered unto you you receive the teaching to which you were now committed brothers and sisters, in verse 18 of Romans chapter 6, we became, the Romans became now servants of righteousness and free from living a life the way they used to live in the past.

And so I'm reading verse 18 of Romans chapter 6. Became the servants or the slaves of righteousness. Again to remind you that in John chapter 8 and verse 32 Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah says, and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall set you, shall make you free. John 8 and verse 32. Verse 18 of our chapter in Roman chapter 6 being then made free the Hebrew word is chofshi you have been made free from sin ye became servants of righteousness in other words don't be anymore don't allow yourself to say well now because i'm not under the law I am under grace and therefore I can then continue and live in sin.

God forbid. Remember that we are not under the law because the Messiah fulfilled the law for us. Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah was the one who fulfilled the law in his life and then he died because the law condemned us. He died for our sin and now that he was buried and he rose again, we who believe on him have died with him. That's what it says already in the beginning of the chapter. Know ye not that so many of us as were baptized, placed into Jesus Christ, we were baptized. There is no water baptism here. This is simply immersed into. It's the Greek word, the baptizo, immersed into his death.

He died. And i died in him we belong to him and so we continue in these verses and now notice that in verses 19 and 20 in the same context of why we are to yield to the Lord and verses 16 to 20 it is because of God's gift of freedom to the believers he freed us beloved brothers and sisters in this verse 19 we were made free from sin why in order that to live a holy lives we had a false freedom in the past but now we have true freedom notice i'm reading verse 19 and verse 20 being then made free from sin ye became the servants of righteousness. Verse 19, I speak after the manner of men, because of the infirmity of your flesh, for as ye have yielded your members' servants to uncleanness, that was in the past, and to iniquity unto iniquity, that was in the past, from bad to worse.

Yield your members as servants of righteousness unto holiness verse 20 for when ye were the servants of sin ye were free from righteousness in the past when you were serving sin you did not live a righteous life but now the opposite have happened the Lord Jesus made us free free from sin honoring unto him and I'm reading once again verse 19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh you see that pastor Paul know very well that the infirmity that exists in the flesh of all of us but remember beloved brothers and sisters we always have to distinguish even though we are new men new person we have new creation we always have to distinguish between our standing in our state.

As to our standing, it can never change because we have accepted the Lord Jesus. We are accepted by God on the basis of the finished work of our Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. Nothing can improve or deteriorate us from our standing. It can never be altered. But as to our state, it's altogether a different situation. As to our state, it is altogether different. Why? Because our state is constantly changing. And though our spiritual state should be improved when we abide close to the Lord, Jesus, our Messiah. Yet sometimes if we are not, our state is not the same as it should be. Once one becomes born again, a believer in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, John chapter 3 and verse 3, we have a new life.

We are born again. Nothing can alter our state. 2 Corinthians 5 verse 17, we are a new creation. Our standing is secure, yet our state always changes, but it should change in the right direction. Theme of sanctification is presented here before us. Let me just read you one more thing here. Yet as to our standing in the Lord Jesus, this fact has been settled once and for all on the cross. This is why the apostle Paul said, I am crucified with Christ. I died when he died. Are standing. But notice, at the same time he says, "I die daily." 1 Corinthians 15:31b. Why does he say so? How can this be?

Because he still has all these opposing natures. This new nature cannot sin. Whenever we sin, always come from that old man. And therefore it is important to understand, to distinguish between our standing and our state. Praise God with respect to our standing. We belong to the Lord. With respect to our state, we should grow closer to Him. That's why the theme of sanctification is progressive. We continue on and on and on. Lord teaching us lessons he revealed to us how weak we are on our own he reveals to us how much we need in an ongoing basis to stay close to the Lord we need to have fellowship with him we need to be closer to the vine we are the branches and we are to honor the Lord in our walk here with the Lord and here we have in these verses 19 and 20 I speak not as after the manner of men because the infirmity that is of your flesh he is saying to them there is an infirmity in your flesh for as ye have yielded your members servants unto uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity in past days because of your flesh your old nature your infirmity even so now that you are born from above that you belong to the Lord even so now yield your members as servants unto righteousness.

To righteousness unto holiness. For when you were servants of sin, you were free from righteousness. In other words, when you were living and serving sin, you just didn't live righteously. Now that you belong to the Lord and you have a new life and you belong to the Lord Jesus, now be freed from life of sin, habitual, continual, though a time we fall and stumble into sin. And that's why we need the Holy Spirit of God that will help us to do so. Now you will notice, beloved brothers and sisters, that the apostle will show us in these chapters 6, 7, and 8 that we are not here having a state or a time in which we can say we have never sinned.

This to us but chapter 8 will teach us that we don't have to sin because we have the holy Spirit of God to aid us to help us and those are the chapters that are very important as we study this the book of Roman now we have we want to conclude with this Roman chapter 6 in the last verses verse 21 22 and 23 we have the Third reason as to why believers are to yield to God. We mentioned already verses 14 and 15 why we are to yield to God because God's grace is towards us verses 14 and 15. Secondly why we are to yield to the Lord because verses 16 to 20 because God's gift of freedom he freed us and he had given us that gift of liberty and freedom.

And now thirdly, in verses 21 to the end of the chapter, 21, 22, and 23, why we are as believers are to yield to the Lord is because of God's desire for fruit through us in our life. God desired to see fruit for him here from among his own people. And notice in verse 21, no fruit for God in the things which we did in the past. Verse 21 he used, what fruit had ye then? He's looking back. Paul is saying, what fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? You see, he's writing to the Romans. Remember that the Romans lived in a pagan city, city of Rome.

Just like the Corinthians. They had all sort of paganism and idolatry. And all sorts of things that the unbelievers and all of us came from. Life that was dishonoring to the Lord. There was nothing for God in that. Think about it. The Creator God that created us for his own pleasure is now looking down from heaven of all humanity and you see what's going on in the world. All you remember what the psalmist of Israel says in Psalm 14 i i want to read this to us in Psalm 14 we do read what David could say that the Lord looking for the fool says in his heart there is no God they are corrupt they've gone they've done abominable works there is none that do his good the Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men this is Psalm 14 and verse 2 to see if there were any that did understand and seek God.

That's where we all came from. They all gone aside, verse 3. They all together become filthy. There is none that doeth good, no, not one. None of us can say, I am good and I have done good because all of us have done evil. All, verse 4, are workers of iniquity. Knowledge who eat up my people as they eat bread and call not upon the Lord well again notice verse 21 of Roman chapter 6 beloved brothers and sisters the apostle Paul says listen what fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed you see when we look at the way we lived before we became believers all of us can say have fruit for you.

We didn't honor you. We didn't want you to hear about you. We were seeking to live our own way. We didn't care that there is a living God to whom we are accountable. You see, beloved brothers and sisters, and so here the apostle Paul said, brethren of the Romans, he says, listen, God desired to see fruit in. Our life now that he had saved us forgave our sins he wants to see fruit in our life so he said what fruit notice the word fruit is mentioned twice here in verses in verse 21 but also in verse 22 in verse 21 it says what fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed for the end of those things is death you see The end of a fruitless life is death.

Of course, to the unbeliever is eternal death. And when a believer continues in sin or fall into sin, habitual sin, there is no fruit for God there. God will have to discipline his own people. As a father disciplined his own children, God disciplined his own children. Correcting his own children in order to bring them in a closer relationship with him that's what God did to the people to our people of Israel in days of old disciplining Israel again and again and again in order to restore them you remember how many times the prophets of Israel says return Israel return and church history is not different same thing God is seeking to restore notice the the assemblies the churches back to himself just read Revelation chapter 2 and 3 and you can see how is the the the Lord the glorified Messiah in heaven as a judge looking down upon the seven assemblies of Asia Minor and always charging them he that has an ear let him hear what the Spirit is saying unto the assemblies unto the churches.

In verse 22 and verse 23, as we are just about to conclude with the sixth chapter, in verse 22, now the apostle Paul is saying, we are free to bring fruit unto holiness. And he said in verse 22, but now being made free from sin. Notice that, but now being made free from sin and become servants to God. Now again, they are believers. He is not speaking here about salvation. He's speaking about that now that the believers are to live sanctified, set-apart life for the Lord. They stumble a time, they fall a time, need to repent, to confess and turn back to the Lord. But the fruit that God desires is a fruit unto holiness.

And the end of it, brothers and sisters, what is the end result? Is eventually, all those that belong to the Lord will be eternally with Him. Fruit now, here in this world, even though we are stumbling at times and struggling in our day-by-day living, But the Lord desires fruit in the life of God's people, and this is why He's giving us instruction as to the yielding. Why the believer is called to yield? Well, because God wants fruit. He wants fruit for His own glory. He wants fruit for our own blessing. He wants fruit to see growth. Jesus the Messiah. The word in the Greek Christian, in the Hebrew, comes with the word Meshichi, Christ-like.

It simply means to be like the Lord Jesus, to be like Yeshua, like the Lord Jesus the Messiah, in a practical way. Now again, He has never sinned. You and I are struggling with this day by day, but we have been freed from this because we belong to Him. Him and so we conclude here and we will conclude here with this last verse here and this is such a beautiful verse the wages of sin notice then for the wages of sin you notice the word wages wages you receive when you work it's a payment the payment for your for sin Sin is death. We earned by nature death because we sinned, and the wages of sin is death.

That's why not only that people die every day physically, but those that do not belong to the Lord are dead spiritually. If one leaves this world without forgiveness of sins, he or she will die eternally. The word death in Hebrew simply means separation. Spiritual death is spiritually separated from God. Physical death means physically the body is separated from the soul and the spirit. Meaning eternal separation from a living God that's what death means and already the wages of sin is death you remember God said to Adam in chapter 2 and verse 17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it for notice that in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die In the Hebrew, the word is mot temutun or mot tamut, dying you shall die.

And indeed, Adam and Eve died that moment, spiritually, when they have eaten from the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And also, eventually, they died physically as well, but spiritually they immediately died when sin came. But because God has forgave their sins and an animal that speaks of the Messiah was killed on their behalf, they were forgiven. And they are going to be in eternal relationship with the Lord. But the wages of sin is death. And you know we preach, those of us who take part in the preaching of the gospel. The wages of sin is death. That's what we deserve.

We deserve to be eternally separated from God because of our sin and sin nature. But that's not the end. Because God has extended His grace towards us all. And that's why the whole sixth chapter of the book of Romans says, but, notice then, the gift of God. Is eternal life through Jesus Christ, through Yeshua HaMashiach, our Lord. It is a gift, and it is the gift that was given from God. And that gift is not only a temporary life, but it is eternal life for those who believe in the Lord Jesus the Messiah. This gift is eternal. Sin is death. God wages for sin is death, but what we deserve, but is a gift that the Lord has provided for us, and that is eternal life.

And so, beloved brothers and sisters, as we are just concluding with Romans chapter 6, we have learned, and I just want to repeat it, beloved brothers and sisters, the three major points that we have here, in Romans chapter 6. Of course, Paul is speaking to believers. They have already received eternal life. They belong to the Lord Jesus, the Messiah. He already said in chapter 5, verse 1, therefore being justified by faith, we have shalom, we have peace with God. Their standing is eternal. They belong to the Lord. But because in chapter 6, 7, and 8. Sanctification to be separated from living a life of of sin but by being set apart and living a life that is honoring unto the Lord in this chapter 6 we have learned specifically that we are to know in our mind you remember that we've already said that in chapter 6 knowing this that so many of us are baptized unto Jesus Christ we are baptized unto his days know it in your mind Secondly verse 11 reckon it in your heart likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead unto indeed unto sin but alive unto God through the Lord Jesus Christ our Lord and thirdly not only to know not only to reckon but also to yield and that's what we have learned here in verses.

15 16 and onward know ye not that to whom ye yield you are the servants of the one to whom ye yield to obey and therefore he says now yield your members as servants of righteousness unto holiness this is what happened here for the believers and this is the struggle that you and I are going through every day of our life as we belong to our Lord Jesus the Messiah and may the Lord help us in this beloved brothers and sisters we are to yield because God's grace towards us we are to yield because God's gift of freedom to us we are to yield because of God's desire to see fruit in the life of all those that have trusted in him and with this beloved friends and dear brothers and sisters we will end.

With this meeting for today. We have covered, finished now, Romans chapter 6, and in the will of the Lord, in our next meeting, we will continue with Romans chapter 7, and we trust that the Lord will help us in the study of the Word of God. So, Abba, our Father, we ask that you will bless your Word to each and every one of us who listen to this message, for we ask it in Yeshua, In Jesus' name. Amen. Amen. God bless you, my dear friend. We say, shalom, shalom. Until the next time. Shalom, shalom. Bye-bye. You
