Forgiveness and Righteousness Through Faith in Jesus the Messiah

From Chapter 3:21-25a of the study of the Book of Romans (אֶל־הָרוֹמִיִּים), Brother Gideon Levytam emphasizes the truth that God's righteousness is freely given to true believers in Yeshua the Messiah. No person, whether Jew or Gentile, can perfectly obey God's holy Law. This is because every individual born into this world has inherited a sin nature, for all have sinned and fall short of God’s holy standard. Paul further explains that even Moses and Israel’s prophets testified to this truth, recording it in the Law (תּוֹרָה) and in the Prophets (נֶבִיאִים). Forgiveness and righteousness are granted only through faith in Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, who died as a sacrifice for sin, shedding His own blood. God declares that He is satisfied with the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus the Messiah. Because of Him, and through His grace, God freely forgives sinners who place their faith in Him.

Shalom and welcome everyone to the Bible classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel. We are very thankful that you can be with us today. We just sang this wonderful song. I am eternally grateful to Yeshua for all that He has done for me. He has given me life and salvation. In me liberty. We ought to be thankful to our Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah. Let's pray together and I hope you have your Bible with you. We are going to turn to Romans chapter 3 today from verse 21 to the end of the chapter as we continue with the study of the book of Romans. Our God and our Father bless your word today for we ask it in Yeshua's name.

Amen. Amen. So my dear friend, beloved brothers and sisters, please turn with me to Romans chapter 3. And the reading for this session will be from verse 21 to verse 31. As we continue with the study together of this amazing epistle, amazing letter that Shaul Paul wrote to the Roman believers in the city of Rome. And so we read in verse 21, unto all and upon all them that believe, for there is no difference. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, in Mashiach Yeshua, whom God has set forth to be a propitiation faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remissions of sins that are passed through the forbearance of God, to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness, that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Yeshua, in Jesus.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? Nay, but by the law of faith. Therefore, we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Is he God of the Jews only? Is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also. Seeing it is one God, we shall justify the circumcision by faith and the uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid. Yea, we establish the law. With this verse 31. Here we are, beloved brothers and sisters, continuing with our study together of the book of Romans. We are now, by beginning with the study of Romans chapter 3, verse 21, all the way to the end of chapter 5, chapter 5 and verse 21, we are entering into the second section, beloved brothers and sisters, of the book of Romans.

Refresh your memory the letter that Shaul Paul wrote to the Roman believers is divided by Bible teachers by those who teach the word of God into five sections and if you remember these five sections are easy to understand because every section began with the letter s so it is divided into these five words sin salvation sanctification sovereignty, service. Five S's, easy to understand, sin, salvation, sanctification, sovereignty, and service. To remind you that we have covered already Romans chapter 1 verse 1 to chapter 3 and verse 20. All of us are guilty. In fact, in the end of chapter 3, where we have studied from verses 9 to verse 20, we have seen that the apostle Paul presents before us the declaration, the proof of universal guilt.

Everyone is guilty before God and that's why whether it is the barbarian or we can say the one that is the Gentile pagan, he is guilty before God. He saw a creation and he had a conscience within and he is guilty before God because he is not able to rise up to God's righteous requirement. Then we have also learned in chapter 2 verses 1 to 16 that not only the pagan Gentile world is guilty before God, but the culture, a moral person from among the nations of the world, he is also guilty before God because not only that he sees the creation, he also had this conscience within him and his conscience shows him that he is guilty before God.

Chapter 2 verse 17 into chapter 3 and verse 8 the religious Jewish individual is also declared to be guilty before God he received the law and the law did not justify because the law was proving that he failed to fulfill God's holy law because God's law is perfect and anyone who is seeking to be of the law only we'll find out that by the law is the knowledge of sin you remember that's how we concluded in Romans chapter 3 and verse 20 therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified if Israel the nation our own people could not be justified by the law therefore no other nation could ever be justified by the law because Israel nation were chosen by God elected by God given to them the law the Torah and the Torah was given not to save the nation of Israel but to reveal to the nation of Israel that there is a need of the Mashiach of the Messiah and that the Messiah came in the fullness of the time.

Of the Virgin Miriam he lived the perfect life and he was the only one that perfectly lived life here in this world fulfilling God's law to the fullest but all the rest failed because notice Romans 3:20 for by the law is the knowledge not the knowledge of righteousness but the knowledge of sin every time you look at the law that God had given just like we look at the mirror and the mirror shows the defects that we have in our bodies the Torah the law shows that the fact that we have in our hearts and our conscience revealed to us God's holiness God's purity and our sinfulness we are by nature have sinned we all have inherited the sin nature of Adam and God declare us to be.

And that's why the law was never given to our people in order to justify them, but in order that they would live a life that would be pleasing to God. And the law drove them to see the need of the sacrifice which pointed to the Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, who would come in the fullness of the time. Romans 1:1 to Romans 3:20 is very important. No pagan individual, no cultured individual, or no religious individuals could be justified before God on the basis of creation, on the basis of conscience, or even on the basis of the Torah, of the law, because all of us have sinned and come short and fall short of the glory of God.

Now, in the next section of Romans, in chapter 3, verse 21, where we began our reading, all the way to the end of chapter 5, Shaul Paul is presenting before the Roman believers the truth of salvation. The first portion dealt with the issue of sin. This portion deals with the issue of salvation, God's great salvation. Verse 21, all the way to Romans chapter 5 and verse 21, we learn, notice this, of these four things. Number one, verses 21 to 31, justification is being explained by the apostle Paul. He is explaining how can one be justified, be declared just before God. Then in verses, in chapter 4, verses 1 to 25, the apostle Paul presents the truth of justification that is being illustrated already in the Hebrew Scriptures, in the book of Genesis, in the life of Abraham.

Then thirdly, in chapter 5 verses 1 to 11, the Apostle Paul illustrates the blessing that accompanies justification. There are so many blessings that accompany those that are justified, that are saved, that are forgiven. And finally, in Romans 5 verses 12 to 21, the apostle will present the basis of our justification. On what basis God could justify sinners? On what basis? And you will see that as we are studying together this portion of the great salvation, Romans chapter 3 verse 21 to chapter 5 and verse 21. So let's just look at the verses that we have read in this portion. Verse 21 to 31 we'll see how much we will cover of these verses as we are moving along here in this portion so here the apostle Shaul Paul is explaining to the Roman believers and to you and I my dear friend dear brothers and sisters here is an explanation of justification Paul is explaining he's expounding what does that mean to be just how is it possible that we sinners can be declared by God just, justified.

And you will notice this as we are studying here together these verses. And by the way, you will notice that he will use the word righteousness, which is being justified. In Hebrew, we call it tzedakah or tzedakah. And he will use the word propitiation in verse 25, in Hebrew means lefayes or pius being justified means being declared just and being propitiated God have been propitiated satisfied it is to satisfy God on behalf of the one that he is is redeeming and so you notice that as we are moving along we begin first of all in verse. Is dealing with explaining justification before we'll read verse 21 I just want to mention that if you are writing down what is justification listen to this justification is an act of God whereby he that is God declared the believing sinner righteous because of the finished work of our Lord Yeshua Jesus Messiah.

Let me repeat it. Justification is an act of God whereby God is declaring the believing sinner righteous through faith in the person and the work of our Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. That is justification. Declaration of God whereby he declared a believing sinner who believed in the Lord Jesus the Messiah, believing on him and believing on what he had accomplished on the cross when he died for the sin of this world, was buried and rose again for our justification. That is what the word justification means. It's a beautiful word in Hebrew because in Hebrew it says God look at the sinner and he declares him righteous, tzaddik, righteous.

But it's not because the believer is righteous on his own. Of course not. We are all unrighteous by nature. But because we believe, because of faith, in God's provision, namely the Lord Jesus the Messiah, God can declare you and I righteous. That's what righteousness or justification means. So he began in verse 21. Notice Romans 3 and verse 21. Justification, first of all, is apart from law or apart from the law. Notice he said in verse 21, but now the righteousness of God without the law is manifest being witnessed by the law and the prophets. You notice where it says, but now the righteousness of God without the law, you can take the word they, just the word law, the righteousness of God without law, any law, any law, law of man, law of government, law of people, any law, even law that you make for yourself, we read here, the righteousness of God without law, because the word they, should not be there without law is manifest and it is witnessed how it is witnessed by the law this is the law that God gave to Israel the law of Moses by the law and the prophets in other words the justification is a part of any law it is a part of any man-made law even the law that God had given to the people of.

Israel and it is as it says here it is evident it is manifested it is witnessed by the law that God had given to Israel the Mount Sinai law and also the prophets in other words the law that God had given on Mount Sinai and the prophets have you read the law you read the prophet and you can see clearly that the justification never came by any law it is witnessed by the law and the prophets in fact we have already read earlier that it is witnessed by the law for example in God's word for example we read in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 because Adam and Eve have sinned God have promised that he will send the Messiah remember the seed of the woman already in the.

Word of God in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 God have promised that in order that Adam and even their descendants will be justified he will send someone into this world which is called the seed of the woman and that this seed of the woman will crush the head of the serpent this is the first verse in the Torah in the law that God promised the coming of the Messiah I will put an enmity between thee, this is Satan and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed. The seed of the woman is the Mashiach. It shall bruise thy head. The seed of the woman will bruise, will crush Satan's head.

But, he says, you shall bruise his heel. And that's as a reference to the cross. When the Messiah died on the tree, on the cross, he was bruised. That paid for the penalty of our sin. So from Genesis chapter 3 and verse 15 all the way throughout the Hebrew Scriptures, it is witnessed that justification was never given. It is apart from the law. It is simply on the basis of the one that would come to pay for the sin of this world. You remember what we read in Exodus, in chapter 12, In verse 13, God already said to our forefathers, to the Hebrew people when they came out of the land of Egypt, And the blood shall be unto you for a token upon the houses where ye are.

And when I see the blood, I will pass over you. The word Pesach comes from the word Passover. Then will I be passing over you. Forgiveness came on the basis of the seed of the woman's blood that will be shed, and all the law and the prophet pointed to the coming Redeemer. So justification is completely apart from any law and a part of the law itself. 11 where there we learn how God have instructed Israel already in chapter 17 and verse 11 that on the basis of the bloodshed of the animal that was that would be a a covering is temporarily the sin of the nation until the Messiah will come in chapter 17 and verse 11 we do read in Leviticus for the life of the flesh is in the blood and i have given it unto you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

Not your works, not your laws, not any man's law, not any man's righteousness. But no, it is the blood that make a covering, an atonement for the soul. And the blood of the animals that were shed in Israel's history, covered, never yet removed, but covered the sins of the nation temporarily. Until the Messiah Jesus came in the fullness of the time and he was the Lamb of God that took away John 1 29 behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of this world not only covering but removing permanently once and for all the sins of all from among the world that have trusted in him and you know we can continue and we can read And so beloved brothers and sisters, when the apostle says to the Roman believers, but now the righteousness of God, verse 21, without law, is manifested.

How it is manifested? It is manifested being witnessed by the law and the prophets. So the law and the prophets of Israel pointed to the coming Redeemer who will provide the righteousness of God for those who will believe on Him. This is so important, beloved brothers and sisters. If you just turn with me to Romans 7. A moment just to read one more verse in Romans chapter 7 and verse 12 to realize that by the works of the law can no man be justified is seen in Romans 11 and this verse in verse 12 where Paul said wherefore the law is holy and the commandment holy and just and good the problem is that we are carnal and sinful notice verse 14 for we know that the law is spiritual but I am carnal and I am sold under sin Paul said in Romans chapter 7 and verse 14 so because by nature we are carnal and we are sold under sin no law could ever justify because by the deeds of the law, as we find out, the law is the knowledge of sin.

Therefore, justification, as an act of God whereby He declared the sinner who believed in Yeshua the Messiah justified, is without or apart from the law, according to verse 21. This is important to understand. And that's why, beloved friend, if you are trying to be justified on the basis of law-keeping, let me remind you that the best of us, the best of us, will never be able to reach up to a high in our life for the holy requirement of a righteous God. Because we have all gone astray. Our sin nature could not be improved. And fixed and that's why we need the Mashiach Yeshua who came to pay for the sin of this world and that's why it is so wonderful to receive the righteousness of God to be justified and declared righteous by believing and believing in the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah who is the provision of God continue now and we are back to Romans chapter 3 and in verse 22 the first part of verse 22 Paul developed remember in these verses he explained what justification is what does it mean so now in verse 22a Paul says to the Roman that justification is through faith in the Messiah in Christ in the that the righteousness of God which is notice by faith of Jesus Christ by faith of Yeshua the Messiah by faith alone Ephesians tell us by grace i saved through faith and that is not of yourself it is a gift of godness any man should boast and here Paul is saying in verse 22 the first part of verse 22 of Roman.

Chapter 3 that the righteousness of God that the justification of God which is only noted by faith in Jesus Christ by faith in Yeshua HaMashiach that's why it is important to realize the need to simply believe to simply accept God's provision of the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah only through faith in the Lord Jesus the Messiah is the way whereby one can today receive justification to remind us of course that before the Messiah Jesus Yeshua was born into this world men and women in Israel's history even before them they were justified as well and they were justified by faith as well but the Messiah hasn't come yet but they were justified by believing God and Believing that God would provide for them a justification.

They believed God. They simply trusted God, and it was counted unto them for righteousness. If you turn with me for a moment back to Genesis chapter 15, and listen to this, we read concerning Abraham, and Abraham we read when God promised Abraham. He simply promised him, and he promised that he would provide for him. And Abraham understood the need to offer sacrifices in order to make atonement. And so God spoke with him, and he said to him, he brought him, verse 5, and he brought him forth abroad. And he said, look towards the heaven and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them. And he said unto him, so shall thy seed be.

And notice what we read in verse 6. Abraham he believed in the Lord and then he tells us in verse 6b and it counted it to him and he that is God counted it to him for righteousness Abraham believed he believed God long before the Messiah Yeshua came long before the Lord Jesus the Messiah came and yet it was counted unto him for righteousness in other words God always justify the person in any dispensation on the basis of grace through faith and faith alone now we live in this present age this oikonomia that is the meaning of the word dispensation we live in this economy we live in this present age of the church age of the assembly the kehila the body of Messiah and every one of us is called to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.

So justification is apart from the law, verse 21, but justification is through faith and faith in Christ in the Messiah alone. Faith alone in the Lord Jesus the Messiah. And this is important. Simply on the basis of faith alone. Turn with me to the book of Acts for a moment. In the book of Acts chapter 16, if you remember the apostle Paul and Silas, they were in prison, and as they were in prison there, the jail was shaken, and ultimately there was an earthquake, and the Lord have allowed them to be able to come out of prison and then if you remember when the when the jailer wanted to kill himself we read in verse 30 he brought them out and he said unto them after he saw that Paul and silas didn't run away and he said what must i do to be saved and Paul and silas said to him believe faith believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shall be.

Saved thou and thy house you will believe and will be saved your house will believe when they believe they will be saved salvation is on a basis of faith and faith alone beloved brothers and sisters so we have learned and as Paul is explaining what justification means he explaining it one point at a time as we are learning here through Justification is apart from the law, verse 21. Justification is through faith in Christ, in Mashiach, verse 22a. Then thirdly, listen to this, in verse 22b and verse 23, Paul continues to say, to instruct concerning justification, and in these verses, Paul is explaining the fact the justification is for all men, for all people.

When I say men, it's men and women, all people, all the people of the way, it's for everyone. It is not limited to some, it is for everyone, but it is only upon them that believe. While it is for all, all people, but out of the whole world, only those who will believe. Will be reckoned justified, will be justified by God. So notice what we read in verse 22b. He continued, he says, after he said that the righteousness of God, which is by faith in Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, and then notice what Paul is saying, and to all, verse 22b, but he continued, he says, and upon all, them that believe, for there is no different.

And he said in verse 23, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. This verse is so important to understand. Why is it so important to understand? Because it helps us to grasp the truth that God wants none to be lost. Knowledge of God, come to know the Lord. He doesn't wish that any should perish. God doesn't want anyone to perish. So justification is provided for all the human race. But will everyone come in to receive it? Will everyone believe in the provision of God? For all, but only those that will believe will benefit from that. In other words, the lesson is tremendous.

Imagine when someone tells you that he's going to give you something, and he's offering something as a gift. Well, he's asking you to come to receive the gift. Reject and doesn't come to receive the gift, he or she cannot receive that gift. So in order for one to come to receive God's justification, God's declaration of a believer in Yeshua that he is just and he is justified, one has to come. That's why many times you find Scripture that teaches us of the invitation of God. Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, In the Gospel of Matthew we read of him in the land of Israel where he says, come unto me all ye that labor, and I have you laid in, and I will give you rest.

The invitation is given. Will you come? You see? So the justification is for all mankind, for all people, but the only ones that will be benefiting from the provision of God are only those that believe. Come to God on the basis of his terms not ours and then they will be declared just by a holy and a righteous God if they will only come whosoever will we read let him come let him come whosoever will let him come will you come did you come and so notice that Paul is explaining here in these verses the righteous of God is not only that it is without the law not only that it is by faith in Yeshua the Messiah but it is all unto all people verse 22b but notice he continue and upon all them that believe while it is for all people but it is only upon all them out of all the people only all them that believe.

For there is no difference. There is no difference between the pagan Gentile. There is no difference between the moralist culture Gentile. There is no difference between the religious Jewish person. All of us are guilty. And the righteousness of God is for all. For the religious person, for the culture, the moral person, and for the. Vegan person, but he or she must come and believe in God's provision. And that is so wonderful. It is only for all them that come to believe. And now notice these beloved brothers and sisters, verse 22 at the end says, for there is no different because all of us have sinned. And then he says, for all have sinned and come short of the glory.

Of God all of us have seen that's what you have already established in our chapter verses 9 to verse 20 that especially verse 19 now we know that the things which the law says he says unto them who are under the law that every mouth may be stopped and all the world may become guilty before God we are all guilty before God way that we can be declared righteous to be justified it is not on a basis of the law is without the law it is only through faith in the person of the Lord Jesus the Messiah and it is for all men but the only the one that will come they will benefit from the justification that is provided for them through our Lord Yeshua the Messiah so Paul beautifully he is explaining is justification now verse 24 Paul continued to explain what justification is in verse 24 he continued to say that justification is by grace the word is chesed what is chesed what grace is it is unmerited favor we don't deserve it chesed grace is unmerited favor.

You and I don't deserve the grace of God. Behold the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ that though he was rich, Paul said to the Corinthians, yet for our sake he became poor, that through his poverty we will become rich because of him. It is by grace alone, by chesed alone. So listen to verse 24. Justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is notice in Christ Jesus in the Mashiach Yeshua it is being justified in Hebrew it says to be just being justified freely brothers and sisters and dear friend can you imagine to receive a free gift of God. It is offered to us freely.

And it is the grace of God. You don't have to earn it. You don't have to pay for it. You don't have to work for that. It has nothing to do with any relationship that you have with some spiritual minded person. It has nothing to do with your blood or what lineage you come from, what nation you come from. Freely for Jewish and Gentiles individual here in this world and it is done it is provided for us on the braces of the grace of God this is so precious beloved brothers and sisters and dear friend no wonder that apostle Paul said to the Ephesians he reminded them in Ephesians chapter 2 and verse 8 he said to them for by grace are ye saved through faith and that is not of yourself It is a gift of God.

Why? Because not of works lest any man should boast. You see, we are so sinful and prideful that we can say, I did it. I earned it. I paid for that. I kept the law or I kept a law. Myself and Paul is saying no realize that justification is through grace and it is freely given to us imagine beloved friend one day we will all have to stand before the living God what you're going to say to him I came to you on the basis of my merit that I have with my family or my nation or my background? Is this what you're going to tell God so he, a holy God, will accept you into his heaven?

Is it possible? Habakkuk says of our God that thou art of a pure eye to behold iniquity and cannot look upon sin. So how can he accept you and I because we have all sinned? And come short of the glory of God. It is just not possible, the best of us. Isaiah said to our people some years ago, concerning even the righteousnesses that we are doing in our life, where in a future day Israel, the nation, will say all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags. Even the good things that we do come from a sin nature. And even our righteousnesses could not declare us just because we have a sin nature.

And God is holy. And so Paul is explaining justification in verse 24. He says, brethren, justification is apart from the law. The Messiah justification is for all men but justification is by grace and it is a gift you can't pay for that I'm reading verse 24 again being justified freely being justified simply means that God declare the sinner righteous we are not righteous on our own and even now the we are believers we still have sin nature in us but it is a it is a legal term in a court of God that God declare us righteous legally positionally although we are in ourselves are unrighteous so he says being justified freely by his grace through notice that through the redemption that he is Christ Jesus.

Notice that, the redemption. What is the redemption? That means that the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, had to die. The word "Lifdot" or "Ligol" means to redeem, to pay a price for salvation. And the price was the Messiah's shed blood on the tree. You see, my dear friends and dear brothers and sisters, we belong to God by creation because he created us. But because sin came in and we have turned away from God, God has now to make us belong to him by redemption on the basis of the bloodshed of the Mashiach. And therefore, he had to declare the believer in Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, freely justified, but it was freely given.

It was the grace of God, and it was through the redeeming blood of the Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. By grace are you saved through faith, as we have read it in Ephesians chapter 2 and verse 8. Chapter 1 and verse 18 he said for as much as you know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition but with the precious blood of Mashiach of Messiah of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot this is a first Peter chapter 1 verses 18 and 19 amazing amazing beloved brothers and sisters this is fascinating now as we are moving along we have already learned that justification is apart from the law justification is through faith in a Messiah Yeshua justification is for all men and justification is by grace alone by the free grace of God chesed ha Elohim grace of God alone It is not through any work that you and I can do.

Nothing that we can do. What shall wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Yeshua, of Jesus. What shall make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus, of Yeshua. He continues now in verse 24. Notice that again in verse 24b. All the way to verse 25a the first part of verse 25 and he's speaking there and he's sharing with the Roman believers that justification is provided at a great cost at a great cost i don't think we can fathom what it meant as he says here notice it is through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus in the Messiah set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood.

You see, justification, according to verse 24b and verse 25a, justification is provided for mankind, for you and I, at a great cost. At a great cost. The Messiah Jesus, the Messiah Yeshua, to shed his blood. He had to die. He had to die on that Roman cross, on the tree. He had to be punished by a holy and a righteous God for your sins and for mine. And this is exactly as the plan of God is and was. From Genesis chapter 3 and verse 21, when God provided a skin of an animal to cover the nakedness and the sin of Adam and Eve, he declared by that that the only way to be justified is through the blood.

The blood of the lambs and rams and goats and calves were temporarily kapara, kaporet, atonement temporarily, until the blood of the Mashiach Yeshua was shed when He finally came in the fullness of the time to become the Lamb of God that will take away the sin of this world. The price was immense. We can't even fathom that. The price that God provided, the son as men provided for us the price was notice that and i'm reading again verse 24b in verse 25a it is through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus in a Messiah Yeshua whom God notice that whom God has set notice that whom God has set a force to be a propitiation that word in the Greek is actually.

Meaning a mercy seat, a mercy seat through faith in the blood. Now, I want to explain this with a little bit of time that we have left for today. What does that mean to be the mercy seat? You remember the word is actually kaporet. The word kaporet simply means a place. Propitiation remind us, mercy seats remind us of the mercy, the lid that was above the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies, in the temple, first of all in the tabernacle, in the wilderness, and then later on in the temple in Jerusalem. That lid that was on the Ark of the Covenant, which had the two cherubim, the two kruvim, This is called mercy sit.

The word sit is not there actually in the Hebrew. It simply means kaporet in Hebrew. And why? Because the high priest, the priest of Israel could never sit. There was no sit in the temple or the tabernacle. But it is the mercy of God towards the nation of Israel when the blood was placed upon that mercy seat, upon that kaporet, in between the cherubim. Ark of the covenant God was appeased God was propitiated God was now satisfied he was a in Hebrew it's called pius he was satisfied he was propitiated he is now because the blood reminded him of the blood of Christ the blood of the Messiah that will be shared in the fullness of time the generations beloved brothers and sisters of we might say the four thousand years of human history God was a propitiated by or or he was the atonement that was made his sins were temporarily covered but ultimately the Messiah came and when the Messiah came he satisfied God's holy requirement once and for all and therefore there is no longer any need of animal sacrifices because the Messiah Christ has come and that's why it says that justification is by grace but the justification is provided a great cost and the cost was not the blood of the animal not the blood of the sheep and the goats and the lamb but the blood of Christ the blood of Mashiach and that's why it's.

Says in verse 5 whom this is the Messiah God has set forth he presented he set forth to be the propitiation in other words that he was satisfied through faith in his blood do you know that God is satisfied now Because when Yeshua shed his blood, now a holy God is satisfied. He had been propitiated. He had accepted the blood of the Messiah, Jesus of Yeshua the Messiah. And that's why the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah are accepted. Because God is satisfied. Do you see this, beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends? That's why it says, this is whom this is the Messiah Christ Jesus whom God has set forth he declared he he presents before everyone to be a one that satisfied him him he was propitiated he was satisfied as he was in type and in shadow in temporarily was satisfied when aaron once a year on the day of atonement on yom.

Coming to the Holy of Holies and placed the blood upon the mercy seat there between the cherubim upon the Ark of the Covenant and when Aaron finished to make atonement for himself and for his family and then for the nation of Israel God was satisfied of course temporarily until the next year and the next year until the next Yom HaKippurim Israel had to go again on the Day of Atonement to propitiate God through the blood that was brought into the Holy of Holies. But now He was propitiated. He set forth the Messiah's work as that which satisfied Him. And through faith in His blood, in Messiah's blood, in Christ's blood, He declared his righteousness for the forgiveness of sins.

How wonderful it is. And if you just bear with me, I just want to read verse 25. And well, what I think I'll do, I will stop here because I wanted to continue to speak about verse 25b all the way to verse 31. Meeting together, beloved brothers and sisters. So what did we learn so far? Justification is explained by the apostle Paul, by Shaul Paul, to the Roman believers in verses 21 to 31 of Romans chapter 3. And thus far, until verse 25, we have learned, number one, that justification is apart from the law. Is through faith in Christ, in Mashiach, Yeshua. Number three, justification is for all people, but only those that will believe will benefit from that justification.

Number four, we learn that justification is by grace and by grace alone. It is a free gift. And number five, we have learned from verses 24b and verse 25, the first part is that justification is provided for us all at a great cost. And what was the cost? The cost was the precious, precious blood of our Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. And so we have read in verse 24b and verse 25a, Redemption is in Christ Jesus, whom God has set forth to be propitiation, to be set forth to be a satisfaction, mercy seat, through faith in His blood, in Yeshua's blood, to declare God's righteousness for the forgiveness of sins.

And they will continue in the will of the Lord, beloved brothers and sisters, in our next meeting together to deal with the remaining portion. And we will move along with the help of the Lord into the next verses of Romans chapter 3. Thank you for your being with us today, my dear friend, dear brothers and sisters, and dear friend. And may the Lord help us all to understand it. This is not only for Jewish people or for Gentiles. This is for all of us. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God and God can declare you my dear friend justified if you only accept his provision and his provision is no one else except our Lord and Savior Yeshua Hamashiach the Lord Jesus the Messiah who loved us and gave himself for us there is no other way other way except through him so God our Father bless your word for today to those who listen for we ask it in Jesus name in Yeshua's name Amen Amen my dear friend God bless you until the next time we say shalom shalom bye-bye
