I Am Not Ashamed of the Gospel of Messiah

From Chapter 1:15-17 of the study of the Book of Romans (אֶל־הָרוֹמִיִּים), brother Gideon Levytam explains the heart of Paul towards the believers in Rome. Shaul / Paul not only assures the Romans that he longs to come to them, but that he is ready to come as soon as God opens the door. Paul emphasizes the truth that he was not ashamed of the gospel of the Messiah, because the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Messiah, is the only grounds for salvation. The righteousness of God was satisfied when the Seed of the woman, Jesus the promised Messiah, entered into this world just as it was foretold by the Hebrew prophets. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. Isaiah 53:6. The Messiah Jesus, was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. Romans 4:25.

We want to say shalom and welcome everyone. God bless you. Welcome to the Bible classes of the Holy Scriptures in Israel, where we study the Word of God, one book at a time, one chapter at a time, and one verse at a time from a first century Hebrew messianic perspective. Welcome to the meetings. We just already covered some of the first verses of Romans chapter 1. We are going to continue today with reading additional verses in Romans chapter 1. Let's pray together. We ask the Lord to bless us and to bless His Word to us all. So let's commit a meeting to the Lord. We thank you so much for your love for us, for your care for us.

Thank you for the book of Romans and for the apostle Shaul Paul who wrote that by divine inspiration. Bless your word to us all. We pray for we ask it in Yeshua, in Jesus' name. Amen, Amen, Amen. And so my dear friend, beloved brothers and sisters, wherever you open your Bible, please, I appreciate that. Bible and you turn with me please to Romans chapter 1 we have covered up till this point the first 17 verses of Romans chapter 1 and we are going to continue verse by verse chapter by chapter as the Lord lead us to continue on with the study of the book of Romans and we are in verse a really we almost arrive I should say to verse 17 We have actually covered the first 14 verses, I should say.

And I would like today to read just three verses. Romans chapter 1, verses 15, 16, and 17. These verses are filled with information that can help us to understand the importance of the theme of the book of Romans, In Hebrew we say, the righteousness of God. And so Paul is writing, he says in verse 15 to the Roman believers, the assembly there at Rome, he says. For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, the Gospel of Mashiach, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein, or for in it, is the righteousness of God revealed from faith, to faith as it is written the just shall live by faith and he's quoting here Habakkuk chapter 2 and verse 4 now beloved brothers and sisters we have already covered these early verses up to verse 14 of this very very interesting book remember that Paul did not visit as yet these Roman believers.

The local assembly, Kehillah congregation, have been established through the visitation of some of the Jewish people who initially came to Jerusalem to celebrate the feast of Shavuot, Pentecost, weeks. Who have accepted the Lord, the message of the gospel was preached, and many, many of those Jewish people who came to visit, to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost, the Feast of Shavuot, they became part of the church, of the assembly. And then they returned back to their homes. There is a list of nations that we read that came to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2. List of people of Jewish people who came to celebrate the feast of Shavuot in fact you read them of them in chapter 2 of Acts in verse 8 they said how hear we every man in our tongue in our own tongue wherein we were born and then he says Parthians and Medes and Elamites and Mesopotamia and Judea and Cappadocia Pontius Asia Pergia Pampylia Egypt Libya, Cyrene, and all the strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, Cretes and Arabians.

We do hear them speak in our language, in our tongue, in our lashon, glossa, the wonderful works of God. And so they were all amazed. They've accepted the Messiah, Jesus. They became part of the assembly. They returned to their country and the local assembly was built, established in the city of Rome. Shaul Paul hasn't seen these brethren as yet, so he's writing to them out of love for them. And so in these earlier verses of our chapter, Paul introduces himself to the believers at Rome by, first of all, verses 1 to 7, expressing to the Roman believers his credentials. And onward all the way to verse 15 by expressing to the Roman believers his concern for them.

And thirdly, in verses 16 and 17, he is affirming his confidence in the gospel. So you will notice that Paul is presenting himself before the Romans. And then in the area where we are reading now in the portion, He's really presenting or expressing his concern to the Romans. And then ultimately, in verses 16 and 17, Paul is affirming his confidence in the gospel of Christ, in the gospel of the Messiah. And we are now within that portion of Scripture that deals with this presentation of Shaul Paul before the Roman believers. Later on, in chapter 1, verse 18 on, he will present the fact that the whole world is guilty before God.

The whole world, from chapter 1, verse 18, all the way to the end, to chapter 3, in verse 8, that all are guilty. All are guilty before God. We will deal with it later on when we will arrive to the next chapter. Emphasize here, beloved brothers and sisters, verses 15, 16, and 17. Just to remind you that up to this point, verse 8, Paul was thankful for the Roman believers. He expressed it in verse 8. In verse 9 and 10, Paul said that he is praying for the believers at Rome. In verses 11 and 12, Paul said that he loved them and he has concern for them. And in verses, if you remember, 13 and 14, he said that he has a debt.

Towards them and towards all the Gentile world you remember we read in verse 14 i am a deto notice then both to the Greek and to the barbarian both to the wise and to the unwise and we spoke about it last week that the the Gentile world had the Greek the educated one the the the philosophers is known the barbarians though that were less educated they were not as informed and they were not as intelligent and others others and as far as the apostle Paul was concerned he is ready to preach the message of the gospel of the grace of God to all the nation he is after all the apostle to the goyim to the Gentile world and so he had this mystery that was.

And to him in a unique way and he became the apostle to the uncircumcision as Peter was the apostle to the circumcision he was so much desiring to fulfill the call that God through the Lord Jesus the Messiah have called him to be and he wanted to come to Rome and he wanted the Roman believers that did not see him as yet to understand that he sensed the need the debt that he owed not only to them but to all people to all the nations of the world why because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God all of us Jew and Gentile alike but Paul Shaul was specifically called to minister to the goyim to the Gentile world and after all God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

It's for all. And so Paul, saying that he was a debtor, verse 14, to the Greeks and to the barbarians, notice to the wise and to the unwise, all inclusive. Everyone needs to hear that message of the gospel. And so Paul had this sense of debt. But you notice in these verses, verses actually 14, 15, 16, there are three times used the word I am. I am. I am. In verse 14, I am a ditto. In verse 15, I am ready. In verse 16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of the Mashiach, of Christ, of the Messiah. So he, he sends the fact that he has this responsibility towards all. And so I notice now, I want you now to notice.

That in verses 15, Paul was not only sensed the fact that he was a debtor, but Paul had the sense that he also wanted, he wanted them to understand that he's ready and willing to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. In order, verse 15, now let me remind you that these believers at Rome, the assembly, they were already believers. Heard the gospel but here we have to understand that what does that mean that when he said I want you to hear the gospel as well what does it mean that the gospel is far large it's far great it's really the we might say that the gospel is more than just that the Messiah died and was buried and rose again for our justification and now ascended to heaven as we read it in first Corinthians chapter 15 but the gospel is the whole body of truth of the word of God all that which is involved with God's plan for mankind God's plan and purposes so when you read the word the gospel here don't limit it only to Yeshua died Jesus the Messiah died and was buried and rose again which is the.

Ground upon which we all are accepted by God. But who He is? What His desire for us all? It is involved so much more. The word for gospel is Besorah in Hebrew. It is news. It is good news. God has a plan and a purpose for everyone who came to know Him as His, to know the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, as His Lord. Savior so Paul is saying in verse 15 i'm ready another one i'm prepared to come notice i'm ready to preach the gospel to you he's speaking to the Roman believer to you that are at Rome also and what he meant by that they were already children of God they were believers they were saved they were forgiven they were born of the And he meant by that, that is, yes, the truth of the gospel of what the Lord Jesus the Messiah has done and all the counsel of God.

In fact, I would like you for a moment to turn with me to Acts chapter 21. I want to read a verse there. In Acts chapter 21, we read, beloved brothers and sisters, in verse 13. And to break my heart. For I am ready. Notice he used the same word. I am ready. For I am ready not to be bound only. But also to die at Jerusalem. For the name of our Lord Jesus. Our Lord Yeshua. When they knew that he is going to Jerusalem. They knew that it was dangerous for him to go to Jerusalem. Why? Because he will receive opposition. Own Jewish brethren who did not as yet accepted the Messiah specifically the the those who oppose the the the apostle Paul's ministry concerning the Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah so he's saying no don't weep for me i am ready i am willing i am ready to go i am prepared to go even if it needs for me to die to die And I want also to mention here, beloved brothers and sisters, if you go back to chapter 20 of the book of Acts, and you will notice that when Paul is sharing the word of God, he's not limiting it only to the word, to the gospel as we know it.

Christ, the Messiah died, was buried and rose again. You speak about the whole counsel of God, the whole message of the word of God. If you go back to chapter 20, When he was speaking to the Ephesian elders, he told them, notice that I'm reading in chapter 20, he said to them in verse 19. That was profitable unto you, but have showed you and have taught you publicly and from house to house, testifying both to Jews and to Greeks, repentance towards God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, Yeshua the Messiah. And now behold, I go bound in the Spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that will befall me there, serve that the holy Spirit witness in every city saying that bonds and affliction be abide me but listen he continued i'm just going to jump down wherefore verse 26 he said i take a i take you to record this day that i am pure from the blood of all men for i have not shunned to declare unto you listen to this all the counsel of God.

Counsel of God that expression all the counsel of God that has to do with the whole plan of God towards the Gentile world towards the church the assembly towards the nation of Israel he presented the whole counsel of God and that's why you will notice as we teach the word we emphasize not merely the plan for the world and all the plan for the church or the only the plan for Israel but we are seeking with the Lord's help to speak about the whole counsel of God God's plan as it is presented for us in the word of God so Paul said to the Romans that he is ready to preach the whole counsel of God the gospel the whole the whole message of God's word to you that are at home also that's what he's saying beloved brothers and sisters in verse.

In fact, just to read one more verse in 2 Timothy chapter 4, the same expression is used there, I am ready. In 2 Timothy, notice there, chapter 4, and there we read in verse 6, Paul was also ready to give his life for the Lord. Notice that, 2 Timothy chapter 4, In verse 6 we read, and I'm reading, all them that love his appearing. Notice that? I am ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand. 2 Timothy 4 and verse 6. In other words, Paul was ready. Ready to come to Rome? To share the word of God with the believers at Rome. Ready to go to Jerusalem? To share with his Jewish brethren concerning Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, whatever will happen.

Ready to depart? To be taken to be in heaven with the Lord Jesus the Messiah because the time of his departure is ahead. Throughout his life, Paul was ready. Amazing, isn't it? It's very challenging because many times we are not ready to go out and share with others the message of the gospel. So, we have learned thus far, beloved brothers and sisters, that in verse 14, Paul said, I am a detto. In verse 15, Paul, Shaul Paul says, I am ready. But now in verse 16 and 17, really these two verses are going together. And in verses 16 and 17, Shaul Paul is affirming his confidence in the gospel of the Messiah, the gospel of Christ.

And here's the third time that he says, I am. And so he says in verse 16, for I am not ashamed of the gospel, of Christ. For it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For therein, for in it, in the gospel, in the truth of the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith as it is written, the just shall live by faith. But now notice this. Beautiful. Remember, beloved brothers and sisters, the gospel, the word gospel, is a very beautiful word. It's simply, in the Greek, it's called euanageleon.

In Hebrew, it says besorah. Y-U-A-N-G-E-L-E-O-N in the Greek. And in Hebrew, besorah. It's news. It's a message. It's a news. It's a good news. The gospel is the news that there is a way whereby God can provide a way for a sinner to be justified with God. And that's why notice that Shaul Paul is saying in verse 16, salvation to everyone that believeth. And he continued to the Jew first and also unto the Greek. Now there are four things that I want to mention about verse 16. First of all, number one, the origin of the gospel is none else but God himself. I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ.

Verse 16, first part that the the source and the origin of the providing the good news to a sinful world is none else but God himself and you know many times in the word of God it is very interesting because the word gospel. Four times the word gospel on its own is mentioned beginning with Matthew 11 verse 5 and on and on and on 11 time the word in the new covenant it mentioned the gospel of Christ the gospel of Mashiach of Messiah besorat HaMashiach in Hebrew 11 time beginning with Roman 1 and verse 16 for i am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ the word for Christ come from the the Greek word christos which come from the Hebrew word Mashiach Mashiach means anointed one the Messiah the promised Messiah the promised anointed one that the Lord has anointed to become the Redeemer the Savior of sinners so i am not ashamed of the gospel of Messiah about 11 times it is mentioned in the new covenant the new testament.

Mentioned including if you remember Romans chapter 1 and verse 1 it said Paul a servant of Jesus Christ called to be an apostle separated unto the gospel of God you notice that it is about a seventh time in the new covenant the word gospel of God is mentioned beginning with Roman chapter 1 and verse 1 and ending with first Peter chapter 4 and verse 17 and about Four times the Scripture in the New Covenant, the word, the gospel of the kingdom is mentioned. Could be more. I'm just giving you the gospel of the kingdom. This is the message of the good news in relationship to the coming kingdom. The coming kingdom.

We have other expression, the gospel of the grace of God. We are preaching today the gospel of the grace of God. It is in view of people who will turn to the Lord and will become part of the assembly, the church. Heavenly company. When the tribulation day will be, the Jewish people, the 144,000 Hebrews and others will preach the gospel of the kingdom. Those that will be redeemed during the tribulation day, they will receive the news in view of entering into the messianic kingdom. Today, we present the gospel of the grace of God and the message of the gospel is being preached to both Jews and Gentile to become part of the assembly of the ecclesia.

And Paul is seeking to present this message. And you and I are part of it today. So the origin is none else but God himself. God is the one that planned it. He is the one that is the source. Turn with me to 1 Corinthians chapter 15. There we read in verse 1, And notice what he said, verse 3. Unto you first of all that notice that which are you receive how that Christ the Messiah died for our sins notice according to the Scriptures so in other words in the Hebrew Scripture God have already planned it what known today is the old testament the Hebrew Scripture God already from Genesis 3 and verse 15 promising the seed of the woman to come into the world he have already planned it long ago in fact we read that the lamb was chosen before the foundation of the world God knew that the Messiah will have to come and that he will die for the sin of this world so it was in the plan of God he is the source God in his own heart desire then mankind will come to him because we all got astray from the fall of others.

Who died spiritually the moment that he violated God's command up till today we all have this sin nature and all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God so God in love for humanity planned it to send one day in the fullness of the time the Messiah he's the source it was not originated by man it's not even man's idea Man only think to find, to work his way to heaven, to find a way in which he could achieve salvation on his own. That's human merit, human works. But the good news is that God provided a way to redeem people who are lost and that he is the originator.

He is the one that planned it all in the planet. The program of God in his wisdom and his counsel he have already in eternity past has this plan to bring a people for himself you remember Peter said in first Peter 1:18 and 19 for you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver and gold from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers but with the precious blood of the Mashiach who was foreordained before the foundation of the world. God is the one who is the source. He is the origin. The origin of the message of the gospel is none else but God himself. Secondly, notice that in the same verse, remember we are in Romans chapter 1 and verse 6, power of God unto salvation notice that i'm not ashamed of the gospel but it is the gospel of Christ it is the gospel of the Messiah of the Mashiach so here really it is the gospel that the origin was of God is of the Messiah of Christ not of anybody else but only of the true Messiah according to the Scripture but it is not as the nature the the.

It is the power of God. Notice that he says in verse 16, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Why, Paul, you are not ashamed of the gospel of the Messiah? Because, Paul is saying, it is, present tense, it is, present tense, in every generation, it is, present tense, the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes. In other words, God's power, God's ability to receive a sinner is based upon the gospel of Christ. When a Messiah, Yeshua, died, was buried, rose again. When a Messiah, Yeshua, was judged the just one for the unjust. Paid for the sin of this world where all we like sheep have gone astray where each one of us have turned to his own way where the Lord laid upon him there on the tree the iniquity of us all as Isaiah already presented before Israel some 750 years before the Messiah Jesus was born it is the gospel of the Mashiach of Christ and it is there the give God the authority, the power of God unto salvation.

So, beloved brothers and sisters, verse 16b, we might say, the nature of the operation of the gospel is that it gives God, the holy God, the authority, he gives himself, of course, the ground upon which he can receive a sinner. He cannot receive a sinner into his presence. He is holy. And so because a sinner has a sin nature, sinners must be judged. The wages of sin is death. It is your iniquity that's separated between you and your God, God said. So sin must be paid. It is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul. Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin.

Had to die and you see the Messiah who is the Messiah he's got the son who took union human nature with his divine nature and as a man the sinless man he bore our sins he was willingly laying down his life our sins on his body on the cross in his body on the cross on the tree and so by doing so he provided a ground upon which a holy God can receive a sinful man a sinful woman a sinful person and so the the the nature of the operation of the gospel whereby a person can be redeemed is on the basis of the finished work of our Lord Jesus it is the power of God it is the power of God beloved brothers and sisters there is a verse in first corinthian turn to first corinthian.

There for a moment with me 1st Corinthians chapter 1 and verse 18 1st Corinthians chapter 1 and verse 18 for the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness but unto us which are saved it is the power of God notice that the preaching of the message of the death burial of our Lord Yeshua, the Messiah. To them that are perished, to those who reject the message, it is foolishness. But to us who are believed, who are saved, it is the power of God. You see, beloved brothers and sisters, in verse 22, it says, for Jews require a sign, but Greeks seek after wisdom. And then it says in this verse 23, But we preach the Messiah, Christ, crucify his death.

Unto the Jews he is a stumbling stone, and to the Greeks his foolishness. But unto them which are called both Jews and Greeks, the Messiah, Christ, is the power of God and the wisdom of God. Notice again and again, the power of God. Verse 18, where we read, 1 Corinthians 118, it is the power of God. Verse 24, the Messiah, Christ, is the power of God and the wisdom of God. It's the ground upon which a holy God can receive a sinful individual. So the origin, the source is God himself. How it is operate, how it is in its nature, the way in which someone can be accepted by God is on the ground of the death of Christ which is the power of God unto salvation and notice again what is the purpose again now I'm reading again Romans 1 16 for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Mashiach for it is the power of God unto salvation listen to that to everyone that.

The outcome and the purpose of the gospel is in order to provide salvation. You know, who needs salvation? People who are lost. Who needs to be saved? The Hebrew word is saved. Who needs Yeshua? Who needs salvation? People who are lost. Dead in trespasses and sins. We're all lost. We were those that were dead in trespasses and sins. All of us, Jews and Gentiles alike, because we all have inherited the sin nature, the Adamic sin nature. So how can God accept us? Because he is holy. Well, it is the gospel of Christ. It is the message of the good news. Originator is God himself the nature of operation is the power of God when the Messiah died and was buried and rose again it gave God the ability the power to be able to receive and the purpose is ultimately that people will be saved that people will be saved remember the the jailer asked the apostle Paul who was in jail what must i do to be saved.

Acts chapter 16 and verse 30, what do they say to him? Paul in silence, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord Yeshua HaMashiach, and you shall be saved. Trust him sincerely, accepting the purpose of the glad tidings of the gospel is to bring people unto salvation. Think about it, beloved brothers and sisters, by nature, people are lost. People are trying to create a religious system to try to be right with God. They think if they will do some good works, God will accept them. Well, it's nice to do good works, but it's still coming out of a sin nature. To the people of Israel, God says.

In nature so it doesn't work good works does not appease God it doesn't bring someone unto salvation some people think if they will attend certain church group a certain group and there they will find a way to be right with God it just doesn't work one need to accept God's provision and God's provision is the person and the work of our Lord Jesus the Messiah Yeshua HaMashiach who came from heaven to die, to be buried and to rise again. He paid a price. He's the just one for us, the unjust, in order to bring us to God. That's the beauty of the gospel that was originated and planned by God that through the death of the Messiah made it possible for God to have power and authority to redeem us.

And the outcome is unto salvation. I am not ashamed, Paul is saying, of the gospel of the Messiah, for it is the power of God unto salvation. Then he continues, what is the scope and the outreach? It is in verse 16 at the end, it is unto salvation, notice that, to everyone that believes. Everyone. Notice that. It is not a group thing. My father believed and therefore I'm going to be right with God. My mother believed and my friend believed and I'm attending a certain place and they believed and therefore I will be right with God. No, beloved brothers and sisters. Notice that. I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation.

Notice to everyone. Everyone. That believe everyone will have to make that decision as before the Lord am I coming to accept the message of the gospel am I accepting Yeshua the Messiah who came from heaven to die for my sin to become a substitute I cannot do it on my own I just can't the more we try to do good the more we find out that we fail we make resolution and we try in the next day and now soon the new year is going to come. We make a resolution. The new year, I will start with a new page, white, and I will do everything in the right way.

And we fail. And we find out that we, what God says about the human race, that the human race is sinners. We all have sinned. The word sin means we are missing the Mark. And because God is holy and he demands 100%, not 99%. Not 75%, not 50%, not 10%, not 5%. He demands holiness, complete holiness, because he cannot allow sin into his presence. And that's why that holy man by the name of Yeshua, who is much more than just a man, he is the eternal son, S-man, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, sins in his body on the tree he died as a substitute for us all and those that believe notice again i'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe what must i do to be saved believe and remember that we have already spoken about it some say well just say the word i believe No, it must be sincere.

And God knows our hearts. You know, when it says in Scripture, in Abraham, believe God, and it counted him for him for righteousness in Genesis chapter 15, he believed sincerely from his heart to believe sincerely. So it's to everyone that believes, beloved brothers and sisters, everyone that believes. Romans chapter 3. Just turn the page. Romans chapter 3 verse 21 and 22. It says in verse 21. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested. Being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Listen. Even the righteousness of God which is. Listen. By faith. By faith of Jesus Christ. Of Yeshua HaMashiach. Of Jesus the Messiah unto all and upon all them that listen that believe for there is no difference one must believe in the person and the work of our Lord Jesus the Messiah you know when the early apostles was sent to present the message of the gospel they were called to preach the message and Mark tells us in Mark 16 verse 15 go ye unto all the world and preach the gospel to every creature he that believeth then he continued be baptized in other words he identified with the Lord shall be saved but he that believeth not shall be damned in other words it is essential to believe in John 3 16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life so verse 16 is a fascinating verse Roman 1 verse 16 i'm not ashamed Paul why aren't you ashamed of the gospel of the Messiah i am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ the gospel of.

Is, number one, the power of God unto salvation. Number two, it is unto salvation. Number three, it is unto everyone that believeth. But then he adds to this verse, very interesting, the word unto, notice that verse 16 there at the end, unto the Jew first and also unto the Greek. Why does Paul mention this at the end of verse 16? Everyone that believed he could have stopped there but why does he add the word in verse 16 at the end to the Jew first and also to the Greek why because in God's economy in dealing with all humanity here in this world it's always the Jew first the reason that the Jewish people are first not because they are superior and better It is simply because it is God's order here in this world.

God has chosen the Jewish people to be a light to the Gentiles. God has chosen the Jewish people to give the word of God to the world. God has chosen the Jewish people to bring the Messiah into this world through the Jewish people. And there is a reason for that. God made the covenants. To them belong the covenants and so on. He gave it through the Jewish people. Are better it is because it is the order of God in fact God also punish the Jewish people first and discipline the Jewish people here first in this world you notice if you turn to chapter 2 and in verse 9 it says evil.

But then he continued to the Jew first and also to the Gentile, of the Gentile. He continued in verse 10 of Romans chapter 2, but glory and honor and peace to every man that work is good. But then he continued to the Jew first and also to the Gentile, to the Greek. You see, beloved brothers and sisters, it is a that God has ordained here in this world, even during this dispensation of the church age. Again, it's not an issue of superiority. It is an issue of order. It is an issue of order, divine order set by God here in this world. In fact, when the future, when the church will come to an end, and the church will be raptured out of here.

There will be a tribulation time, Jacob's trouble, and the Jewish people will experience tribulation such as never they've experienced before. And through this Tzarat Yaakov, Jacob's trouble, God is going to refine his people Israel and to restore them and to use the people of Israel as a nation, national priestly nation, to minister to the whole world. To become like a nation of priests that will communicate with this world in a messianic kingdom, they will be the one that will be called the priest of the Lord. In fact, we read of it in chapter 61 of the prophet Isaiah, ministers of our God. In other words, God is going to use the people of Israel to be a blessing to the world.

He has in the past. You and I have been blessed by receiving the gospel through the Jewish people, the apostles, and we are called to share the gospel to the Jew first and also unto the Greek. It's a divine order. It's not a divine preference. Of the Jewish people are being better. All of us have sinned. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Notice another thing here. Some people say, you see, it used to be to the Jew first, and it's no longer to the Jew first now, some 2,000 years later. Well, if we take it this way, then we cannot read the verse the way it is written.

It says in verse 16, For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is not as it is. It doesn't say it was the power of God unto salvation, but it is, present tense today, the power of God unto salvation, as it is to the Jew first and also unto the Greek. You cannot say, you cannot read this verse, for it is the power of God unto salvation, and it was to the Jew first. It doesn't say. Here in these both sentences. It is the power of God unto salvation as it is to the Jew first and also unto the Gentiles. This is an order, a divine order that is set up by the Lord.

Now in the next five or ten minutes, I just want to read for us all verse 17 because verse 17 is a very important verse. In fact, verse 17, theme of the ministry of the apostle Paul in the as he's writing this book of Romans what is the theme is the righteousness of God and you have to understand this beloved brothers and sisters it is it's not the righteousness of Christ but it is the righteousness of God you see the righteousness of Christ of the Mashiach he was a righteous a holy man here on earth if he didn't if Yeshua didn't die if the Lord Jesus the Messiah didn't die his life could not save us he must pay for our sins by dying on that cross.

Is mentioned some 30 times in the book of Romans the Hebrew word it's tzedakah in Hebrew tzedakah righteousness and that word righteousness mentioned here so many times in the book of Romans about 306 times in God's word from Genesis 15 and verse 6 Abraham believed God and it counted for him for righteousness. And then in Revelation chapter 19 and verse 11, when the Lord Jesus the Messiah will come at his second coming, we read in Revelation chapter 19 and verse 11, we do read in verse 11, it says, and make war many times the word righteousness is mentioned in the in the Scripture but in the book of Romans as you mentioned about 30 times and notice Romans 1 for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from face to face as it is written the just shall live by faith you notice it says again and I just mentioned in Romans 3 and verse 5 but if our.

Unrighteousness commended the righteousness of God. What shall we say then? Is God unrighteous to take vengeance? I speak as men. You notice the word righteous. Romans 3.5, Romans 3.21, Romans righteousness, Romans 3.22, Romans 3.25, and on and on. Throughout the book of Romans, all the way to the end of the book of Romans, And that is the theme of the book of Romans. From the study of the book of Romans. So the theme of the book is the righteousness of God. And now I just want to emphasize this verse. From verse 17, we learn that the righteousness is the righteousness of God. Why it is called the righteousness of God and not the righteousness of Christ?

Because God as a holy God needed to find a way whereby a sinner can be brought to himself. So he sent the Messiah. He sent his son. And his son, Yeshua, lived a perfect life, a righteous life. And the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, could go to heaven without to die because the wages of sin, his death, but he never died. He never sinned. He never committed any sin. So when he died, when he was punished, he was punished for our sin and sins. He was bruised for us. So you and I will have forgiveness of sins. So it says, therein, in the gospel, in the body of truth, that the Messiah died and was buried and rose again, that Jesus the Messiah died, was buried and rose again for our justification.

In this body of truth, The righteousness of God is revealed. You see what happened? God is revealing to mankind that there is a way to be reckoned as just, as righteous. It's a Revelation to a sinner that will only be willing to learn and to receive the message of the grace of God. It's a Revelation. And God reveals this. Here, "For therein the righteousness of God revealed from faith unto faith, from one person who believe and another person who believe and another person who believe and another person, from faith to faith, one must believe and discover the Revelation of God concerning salvation." God is really saying to us, saying to the sinner, I found a way.

God found a way, sometimes we sing, to redeem my soul. And the way is through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Yeshua HaMashiach, the Lord Jesus Temassar. God found a way. It's not your way. Because all our righteousness is our filthy rags. Because all have sinned and come, short of the glory of God because the wages of sin is death but God provided a way in the whole book of Romans you will see again and again the thought of the righteousness of God God declared the believer in Yeshua Jesus the Messiah righteous although by nature we are unrighteous and God can accept. Us you because you believe in the person and the work of the Lord Jesus the Messiah so verse 17 is a beautiful verse where it says for there in the gospel body of truth the righteousness of God is revealed it unfolded from faith to faith to faith, to faith, to faith, to faith, emunah, emunah, believe, believe, believe, whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

And you know this, beloved brothers and sisters, as it is written. I would like to emphasize that over 60 times the book of Romans emphasized as it is written. It has some way whereby it makes a reference to the Hebrew Scriptures it was in a plan of God it was in a program of God it was written by the prophets of Israel that the Mashiach will come in the fullness of the time and he will be born of a virgin and he will live a perfect life and he will die a substitutionary death again for the justification that whosoever believeth on him shall not perish but have everlasting life and so as it is written and he's quoting the prophet Habakkuk in Habakkuk in days of all the embracer of Israel loved his people Israel and because God was going to judge Israel to bring the Caledines the Babylonian he said to Habakkuk Habakkuk the just from Israel from the nation of Israel they will trust.

They will believe. They will believe me and the just will live by faith. They will believe on me and they will live their life by faith and trust me and ultimately I will deliver them and will restore the nation. Here it's in reference to the gospel that goes to all the nations of the world that whosoever will believe on him, he will receive the righteousness of God. It will be revealed to him. Revealed to her from faith and to faith and to faith and to faith as it is written the just shall live by faith the just shall live by faith and that expression the just shall live by faith is mentioned four times in the complete canon of Scripture in its origin It's mentioned in Habakkuk 2 and verse 4.

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him, but the just shall live by faith. Habakkuk 2 and verse 4. And then it is mentioned in the three letters that were written to the early believers, emphasizing the just in the book of Romans. Chapter 1 and verse 17. Is written that just shall live by faith Romans 1 verse 17 it is also quoted by Paul once again in the book of Galatians and there he is emphasizing shall live but that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God it is evident for quoting now again Habakkuk 2 verse 4 the just shall live by faith this is written in Galatians 3 and verse 11 and finally in the book of Hebrews in chapter 10 and In verse 38, the Hebrew author is writing to the Hebrew believers and he's emphasizing the importance of faith.

Now the just shall live by faith, but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. Hebrews 10 and verse 38. Again, each one of these letters, these epistles emphasize the word. One is emphasizing just, the other one emphasizing shall live, and the third one emphasizing by faith. Live by faith. My dear friend, these three verses, verses 15, 16, and 17, are essential to understand as we are continuing on in the study of the book of Romans. So Paul is affirming, and I'm closing with that, his confidence in the gospel of the Messiah. He's saying, I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, the gospel of Messiah, For it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, for the Jew first and also unto the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith unto faith, as it is written, the just shall live by faith. Well, may God bless his word. May the Lord help us to understand the book of Romans as we're studying it together, one chapter at a time, one verse at a time. May the Lord bless you, my friend. And we're going to close now this meeting for this session. We will commit ourselves to the Lord and say shalom to you all. So, Abba, our Father, thank you for your word. Thank you for these amazing verses. Romans chapter 1, 15, 16, and 17. Bless your word to us all. We thank you for the message of the gospel, the good news, the besorah, today if they will only believe in the Lord Yeshua HaMashiach.

Father, Abba, we pray in Yeshua's name. Amen and Amen. We will say shalom to you. God bless you, my friend. Shalom, shalom. Until the next time. Bye-bye. You
