I would like you, please, to turn with me to the book of Jude. In Hebrew, we call him Yehudah. Jude, Judah, had written a letter to early Hebrew believers. And in the letter that he wrote, it was actually a letter that was challenging to them. And it was a call to be alert. A call to be alert because there was danger for the early believers because certain men crept in unawares. And Judah, Jude, Yehudah, was writing to warn the early believers that they must be alert, that they must be awakened, that they must be careful, and that they should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
In Hebrew, a very interesting way in which it's being said, Tillachamu la'emuna ha'mesua pa'am achat lakdoshim. I love this statement. Lehilachem means to fight. Earnestly content to fight for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. And so he wrote to them a letter. And if you remember, beloved brothers and sisters, He did not intend in the beginning to give them this exhortation. In fact, he first of all wanted to write to them about the common salvation in which they all had. He, Yehuda, Jude, the writer, and they, these early Hebrew believers to whom he wrote. and he actually wanted to write about this common salvation that we have in the messiah because of what yeshua the messiah had accomplished but he was guided by the spirit of god to warn them and to exhort them to earnestly content for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints and he gave them the reason the reason was in verse 4 of Jude he said because a certain man crept in unawares this problem of false doctrine this problem of false teaching this problem of swaying Christians believers from the right to the left has not began in the year in which you and I live in today have already begun in the first century when the body of Messiah had its foundation.
Whenever God works, the enemy has its counterfeit. Whenever the Lord Yeshua does a ministry, the enemy is right there to seek to disturb that. It had been then in the past. It is today in the present. And it will always be in the future until the Lord would come again to take us to be with him in glory. And so last time when we have met together, we have discussed those first seven verses. And I would like today to read from verse 8 to verse 16 to make a few, go back for a little bit about those earlier verses and to move on into the next verses in which we will find ourselves today.
And so we read in verse 8. Likewise, also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, speak evil of dignities. Yet Michael the archangel, which when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moshe, of Moses. He dared not bring against him a railing accusation, but he said, The Lord rebuke thee. But these speak evil of those things which they know not. But what they know naturally as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain, and they ran greedily after the error of Bilaam, for reward, and they perished in the gainsaying of Korach, as we say it in Hebrew.
These are spots in your feasts of love, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear, clouds they are without water, carried about of winds, trees whose fruit withereth without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the root, raging waves of the sea forming out their own shame, wandering stars to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. And Enoch, or Hanoch, also the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts, and their mouths speak as great swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
and i stop here with the reading today with this portion there's so much here beloved brothers and sisters that i'm sure i will not be able to to speak about everything that is here before us today but let me let me please remind you that when yehuda judah jud when he was writing this letter he was writing to encourage the believers to speak about this great salvation which they have together this this common salvation which they have enjoyed together but he said that was needful for me to write unto you and to exhort you it seems to be that the spirit of God said to Judah to Yehudah to Jude Jude I want you now
really and not so much to emphasize this but there is a need for these people and write to them about the necessity to earnestly contend for the faith which was once given unto the saints give them this exhortation because certain men crept in unawares these men who came in unawares it tells us that they it says that they were before of all ordained to this condemnation or ordained themselves to this condemnation they have their ungodly men turning the grace of god into lasciviousness denying the only lord god and our lord yeshua the messiah so they have crept in the believers were not watchful were not careful to hold on to the fundamental Aleph Bet or
ABC of the Scriptures.
They were not careful, and they have allowed these men to creep into their midst and to begin to influence the brothers and sisters. And so he's telling them, and he reminded those early believers, he says, listen, you can be assured that if we are following this kind of a direction, If we are going in this kind of ways, in this kind of direction of those false teachers, false imposers, he said, we're going to end up to face the judgment of God. God will judge his people. God have judged the angelic being. God will judge and have judged Sodom and Gomorrah. You notice those verses 5, 6, and 7, which we have read in our last meeting together.
God judged his people, Israel, who did not believe, in verse 5, God judged the angels who did not keep their first estate, and they are preserved for the judgment that is coming yet in the future, and God has judged Sodom and Gomorrah. What we can see in these three groups of people, or groups of companies, if you will, god judged his people god judged the angelic being god judged the world god will judge sin and that is a sure thing we read it in the scripture and he judged sin specifically when he judged his son on the tree when the messiah died for our sins god have disciplined and judged sin on the person of his son, Yeshua the Messiah.
And every one of us that have accepted him, God has passed over us because the judgment that we deserved had fell upon Yeshua the Messiah. And now in these next verses, verses 8 to 16, which we have read today, Jude gives us a description and tell us, who are these men that crept in? Who are they? Who are these individuals that crept in among the people of God? Who are they? What is it about them? Who are they? Now, he doesn't give us names. But what does he do? He gives us a description of these people. In fact, he tells us in verses 8 to 11 that these men do not submit to God.
Verses 8 to 11, and in verses 12 to 16, he tells us that these men purposely handle God's work. First of all, he tells us that they do not submit to God's word. Secondly, he tells us that they purposely handle God's work. And all beloved brothers and sisters, it is something that have crept in already in first century. And we see it throughout the history of the church age, just like we see it throughout the history of our people Israel, prior to the foundation of the assembly of the church. We see it always like that. When God works, the enemy is working. When God's raising up men and women to serve him, Satan raised up men and women to hinder the work of God.
And that's the constant battle that is existing from the beginning up till this present day. And so now in these verses, verses 8 to 16, he tells us who are these men that crept in unawares. And look what he tells us. In verses 8 to 11, he shows us that these men simply do not submit to God's word. They just don't want to submit to God's word. And he tells us, first of all, in verse 8, that they are dreamers. They are dreamers. They are full of delusion. Look, it says in verse 8. Likewise, also these, who are these? This in verse 8, that these of verse 8 is the certain men that crept in of verse 4.
These, these men, they are filthy dreamers, defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Notice, oftentimes you'll find it in the book of Jude, that he gives us things in threes. He gave us, first of all, in verses 5, 6, and 7, three companies that have been judged by God. The people of God, Israel, some from among the people of Israel. The angelic beings, those that did not keep their first estate, in verse 6. And the people of Sodom and Gomorrah, that God judged. And he says there that they are suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Then he gives us another group of three, and he's speaking now about those filthy dreamers.
And you know this expression, dreamers, you know, they are, as it says here, they have delusion. They are dreamers. They have delusion. They have plans. They have dreams and visions that they have on their own purposes and plans, not submitting to the Word of God. And look what it says here. They defile the flesh, number one. They despise dominion, number two, and they speak evil of dignities, number three. Despise the flesh, or I should say defile the flesh. They live a life that is sensual, they do as they please. Having their own way, they don't recognize the fact that God gave instruction in the scripture.
It is not so much of someone falling into sin, but someone willfully carry on a life such as this. They defile the flesh. Willfully they defile the flesh. Secondly, he tells us that they despise dominion. In other words, they have authority. It's not on their book. They don't care about dominion and authorities. They just simply have not submitted themselves to the authorities that is above them. They do not submit themselves to the authorities of the country. They do not submit themselves to the authorities of the people of the realm in which God has placed them under. If they belong as professing a Christian, if they enter into among the people of God, they are not submitting to anybody.
I'm the captain of my ship. I'm doing what I want. I'm doing what I please. No authority. No dominion. In fact, it says there in this passage in verse 8 that they are despising dominion. They despise those that have authority. Now, I have a verse here that we really need to read from Psalm 79. Just turn there please to the Old Testament to Psalm 79. The psalmists have written in Psalm 79, he says this. He says, the psalmist, of course, his name is Asaph. He says, O God, the heathen are coming to thine inheritance. Thy holy temple have they defiled. They have laid Jerusalem on heaps. And then he tells us, he tells them, he says in verse 9, O God, help us, O God, the God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name, and deliver us, and purge away our sins for thy name's sake.
Wherefore, why should the heathen say, where is their God? The heathen said, where is their God? If you turn back to another chapter, back in chapter 12, I should say. Psalm 12. Look at another verse there. Psalm 12 and verse 4. Who have said, with our tongue will we prevail, and our lips are our own, who is Lord over us? They despise dominions. Nobody can tell them anything. See, this is some of the indication of who are those people that have crept into the time when Jude was writing to first century believers. He says, listen, those people simply have nobody in authority over them. They are defiling the flesh and they despise dominion.
In other words, no authority. No authority over them. They do as they please. But he continues, and he tells them they also speak evil against dignities. They speak evil against dignities. They don't recognize dignity. You know, listen, even though we live in a country, or any country in this world, which the leadership or the authority, the governments that we have are not necessarily a believing government or a Christian government, Nevertheless, we are exhorted in the scripture to recognize dominion and to recognize dignities. To recognize those that we are under them. To recognize this because we cannot just go ahead and not recognize that we are under authority, under dignities.
There are people that God has placed in authority and we have to recognize them. I'm not talking about necessarily now we have to believe what they believe, but here, for example, if God places us in a country such as where we are today, we are to recognize the dignities. We are to recognize those that have authority in this country. A verse that is already mentioned in 2 Peter 2, Peter has already written to these people, and look what he is telling about them. He says in 2 Peter 2 and verse 10, chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of their uncleanness and they despise government. They are presumptions.
They are self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. 2 Peter 2 and verse 10. In fact, Jude is building up upon watch Peter that which Peter had already written to these Hebrew believers of first century. He says there are those that simply not afraid to speak against dignity, carelessly they are speaking without any respect. Other passages in the Bible we are reading that we are to honor the king. We are to respect the government in which we are under. We are to have a measure of submissiveness to the measure. We are to submit to the government which God had placed over us. And so here we are told about these individuals that crept in unawares.
He says these are filthy dreamers, defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil against dignities. They don't care. They don't have any respect to anyone. They speak evil against dignities. Peter said that in 2 Peter 2.10, Judy said that in verse 1 of his book, and other areas we are told about those that are doing such a thing as this. I just want to see in the book of Romans, chapter 13, let every soul be subject unto a high power, for there is no power but of God. The powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisted the power resists the ordinance of God. And they that resist shall receive to themselves damnations.
Romans 13 verses 1 and 2. And these are those that have crept in. And Jude is speaking about them in his letter to the first century believers. And so we continue now in verse 9. In verse 9, not only that they are dreamers, in verse 8, but they are also not like Michael and other angels that have been honoring the Lord in their conduct. Look what it says here in verse 9. Yet Michael, Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, He dared not bring against him railing accusation, but he said, the Lord will rebuke thee. You see what he's telling us about the archangel Michael.
By the way, Michael in Hebrew means who is like unto God. Who is like unto God? Michael was an angel. He was serving the people of Israel. He was serving God for the nation of Israel. But you see, we learn here about something about Michael that we would not know otherwise, and about what happened to the body of Moses that we would not know this unless Jude would give it to us in his book. We find out, if you remember, if you read Deuteronomy chapter 34, that when Moses died, God buried Moses, and no one knows the place of his burial until today. Deuteronomy 34, verses 5 and 6.
But you see what we get here? Insight to things that we would have never known otherwise. Michael, the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses. Apparently, something had happened when Moses died, which we read in Deuteronomy chapter 34. Apparently, Michael and the archangel were contending about the body of Moses. we do not know that or we did not know that from historically setting we only know it for what Yuda gives us in his letter but when he was contending about the body of Moses he did not even dare this is Michael to bring against him this is Satan, a railing accusation.
Of course, Satan was an enemy of God, and he is an enemy of God. Of course, Satan was a unique angel that fell, who became the adversary. But we read here, interesting, that even Michael did not raise against him a railing accusation, but he said to him simply, the Lord will rebuke you. You know, sometimes, brothers and sisters, we have to let things be and let the Lord do his work. And apparently those individuals that crept in unawares have such a disrespect to authority. They have such an attitude against dominions, against dignity they speak evil and they're giving influence or they place an influence upon the people of god that caused them to become not submissive to authorities to dignities not recognizing that god gave us gave authority over us and we are to respect it even though a time we don't like that and these individuals have been such as this and the jew telling look I'm giving you something to know that you did not know before.
Even the archangel Michael did not bring railing accusation against Satan when they were disputing over the body of Moshe. But he said to him, the Lord will rebuke you. And you know what? The Lord does rebuke.
You know, if you remember in the prophet Zechariah, we read that the lord rebuke satan when satan was standing and and pointing the finger against joshua the priest and we read in zechariah in the in the in the book of the car in chapter 3 that the lord rebuked satan satan sought to say something against the people of god and joshua who had a garment that was not clean was not clean and and the lord have given him a clean garment representing of course he was representing the nation of israel and the nation of israel was in a state that was not suitable and you can rebu you can say anything against the nation of
israel but god have rebuked satan at that time even though he brought an accusation against the people of god in other words what we learn here the necessity of submissiveness the necessity of recognizing that there is an authority over us and that we are to submit to authority and that we are to recognize that everything that God has placed us under there is a reason why he allow us to be where we are whether it is in the country where we live in or in any other country whether it is in a local assembly and the leadership that God has placed over us even though we don't like at the time we are to learn
to submit ourselves and when we learn this from our blessed Lord Jesus the Messiah when he was reviled he reviled not again and he submitted himself unto the one that have the one that can give him and encourage him and and correct things in a place things in order that's the way the Lord Jesus our Messiah have been and here we find out about those men that crept in unawares number one they are dreamers verse eight number two they are not like the archangel Michael in verse 9.
But notice what he tells us in verse 10. He's moving on and he says they're behaving like brute beasts. They don't behave in a proper way. In verse 10 he tells us they speak evil of those things which they know not. But what they know naturally as brute beasts in those things they corrupt themselves they speak evil of things that they do not know and they corrupt themselves they behave like as it says here in verse 10 like brute beasts you know a man you and i when we are acting in the flesh we can sometime behave like it tells like animals, like animals, like brute beasts, when we don't have self-judgment, when we don't have the judgment, the self-judgment that God would have us to have.
And so, they are dreamers, verse 8. They are not like Michael the archangel, in verse 9.
They are behaving like brute beasts by speaking evil against the the things that they do not know by by corrupting themselves but it also says in verse 10 that they they i'm sorry in verse 11 that they will be judged like others that have behaved like that have been judged in the past and you notice what he does here in this verse in verse 11 he gives us again three one after the other three men from the past biblical history he goes back again you remember he does things for some reason give us by three he gives us the fact that there were those particular individuals the way they behave he gave us the judgment
of God upon the people of Israel the angelic being and the Sodom and Gomorrah and these people behaved defiling the flesh despite dominion speak evil of dignities and then he tell them that the judgment will come upon them like it came in the past upon three men in the history of the Bible the first man was Cain the second man was Bilam and the third man was Korach the first man was Cain the second man was Bilaam and the third man was a man by the name of Koach you notice he says three things about those men it says in verse 11 woe unto them for they have gone in the way of Cain and
they ran greedily after the error of Bilaam and they perished in the gain saying of Koach.
These three individuals, dear brothers and sisters, describe to us those that did not want to submit themselves to the Word of God. All three of them that we have here simply did not want to submit to the Word of God. One of them did not want to submit to the Word of God with respect to salvation. The other one did not want to submit himself to the word of God with respect to separation. And the third one did not want to submit to the word of God with respect to service. Each one of these three shows us exactly what we see in those that do not want to submit themselves to the word of God.
The first one is Cain. It says here, woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain. The way of Cain. What is the way of Cain? Today we read in Genesis 4, the first 16 verses. What was the way of Cain? The way of Cain is simply this. God, I'm going to come to you, not the way that you have established for me to come. I'm going to come to you on my basis, on my ground, upon the principles that I feel and I want, not upon the teaching that you teach me. So you remember the story? Two brothers, Cain and Abel. Cain brought of the fruit of the ground, and Abel brought of the animals, of the lambs, and of the sheep, and of goat, and he had come to God on the basis of the bloodshed of the animal, and came to God on the basis of his works.
And God accepted Abel, but he rejected Cain. And you know what Cain did? If you're going to reject me, God, I'm going to do something to the one that you have accepted. If you rejected my offering, God, which is the works of my hand, I'm going to slay my brother that you have accepted his offering, his blood sacrifice. Cain came to God on his own way. And I don't know if you took a note of it. At the last verse we read today, we read that God appealed to Cain. And God said to Cain, Cain. He said, why are you, why you are angry, Cain?
There is sin offering laying at the door. Take the sin offering, offer it, and I will accept you. But Cain rejected God's way. And you know what we read in the last verse? Cain went out from the presence of the Lord. And as we said it before, we'll say it again. We never read in the Bible that Cain ever came back to God. He turned his back on God, and he had gone away from the Lord, and he lived away from the Lord, and he established a family away from the Lord, because he rejected the way of God. And that's what happened. Those individuals, woe unto them, he says, for they have gone in the way of Cain.
In other words, they did not come to God, God's way. Actually, they were not saved. They were not saved. And there are people today that simply reject the word of God with respect to salvation. God have taught this family how one can be saved. God have already established the truth that salvation is on the basis of the sacrifice. The lamb, the animal, had to shed his blood, and he become an atonement for the sin of the other. But Cain rejected this. Had he submitted to the Lord, he would have come to God on the basis of the animal sacrifice, which pointed to the Messiah. Woe unto them, for they have gone in the way of Cain.
The second man, his name is Bilaam. And we read here, Woe unto them, for they ran greedily after the error of Bilaam. Bilaam, by the way, was a prophet. And he was a prophet that was wanting to, He actually, for gain, wanted to prophesy against the people of God in order to get gain out of it. In fact, the Bible teaches us about Bilaam. Of course, we read about him in the Scriptures, in the book of Numbers. But I want to read just one verse in the book of Deuteronomy, chapter 23. Look what we read in Deuteronomy chapter 23 about Bil'am. It says this, it says there in verses 4 and 5, it says this.
It says in verse 4, it says, because, actually I'm going to read in verse 3 already, Deuteronomy 23, verse 3. An Ammonite and a Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord, even to their tenth generation, they shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord forever. And now he gives us the reason. Why? Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when you came forth out of Egypt, and because they hired against you, against Israel, Bilaam, the son of Beor, of Petor, of Mesopotamia, to curse you, to curse Israel. And then look what we read in verse 5. Nevertheless, the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Bilam, but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto you, because the Lord thy God love you.
You see, apparently what Bil'am did, Bil'am, because the Moabites and the Ammonites sent messengers to Bil'am, gave him all these gifts in order for him to curse the people of God, the people of Israel. Bil'am wanted his gain. He was a prophet. And for gain, for monetary gain, he was willing to curse the people of God. And we read in the Bible that God turned the cursing into blessing. When Bil'am tried, sought to curse the people of God, the people of Israel, and he probably had so much to say against the people of Israel, the Lord turned the cursing into blessings. And he blessed the nation of Israel.
He blessed the nation of Israel. Here we find out that Bilaam was one of those that Jude is mentioned. He says, those men that crept in, not only that they have gone after the way of Cain, but they also gone greedily after the error of Bilaam. What was the error that he sought gain for himself in order to prophesy against the people of God? to speak against the people of God. And isn't it true in how careful one has to be when we are dealing with the people of God? It's important for us to have the mind of the Lord about his people. Yes, his people need to be disciplined.
Yes, his people need to be condemned because of many sins that the people of God have in their lives. But God wants us to have the attitude the heart of the Lord in everything that we do towards the people of God. You remember even Elijah says, he says, all have gone away, nobody wants you, God. It's only me and intercede against the people of God. And God had to remind Eliyahu, there are 7,000 souls that have not bowed the knee unto Baal. You don't think that you are the only one. There are others who are seeking to be faithful. There are others that God had raised.
But don't speak against the people of God in such a way like Bilaam. It's the gain or the greediness or the error of Bilaam that he had in his heart. And eventually, you know what he did? He succeeded. He succeeded to get the children of Israel to intermarry with the Midianites and to end up to worship idols which brought about the judgment of God. You read it in Numbers chapter 25. Very sad. He succeeded in one way or another. Of course, God judged him as well, but what a lesson we learn here. That is exactly what these men would do. They do not seek the welfare of the people of God, but they do seek the fact that the people of God will go astray, away from the Lord, and will end up not to live for the glory of the Lord.
So the first man was Cain. Cain has to do with rejection of the salvation, the way God would like it to be, and God teaches us to be. When it comes to Bil'am, it has to do with respect to the separation, that the people of God should be living a life that is separated unto the Lord. not isolated, not isolation, but separation unto the Lord. But here comes the third man. And the third man, his name is Korach. His story is written in the book of Numbers, chapter 16. And it says here, And woe unto them, for they have gone after their reward, and they have perished in the gain saying of Korach.
Korach is the third man that is being brought into the surface here in this letter. And you know Korach was a man that was part of the Priestly, of the Levites. And you know what? He went to Moses and he said to Moses in Numbers chapter 16, he was accusing Moses of taking the leadership on his own without having God, actually the one who raised him for the leadership. And if you will notice that, it says in chapter 16 and verse 3, they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron. And they said to them, he said, you take too much upon you. Seeing all the congregation are holy, even one of them or every one of them, and the Lord is among them, why then you lift yourself up above the congregation of the Lord?
You see, he was accusing Moses and Aaron of lifting themselves up above the congregation of the Lord. You know what is the beautiful thing about Moses? Look what it says about Moses in verse 4. When he heard this, he fell upon his face. Moses didn't fight. Moses didn't seek this glory for himself. Moses did not lift up himself above the congregation of the Lord at all. Moses was raised up by God, to serve God, and to serve the people of God. But you see, there was those that crept in, in the time of first century, in the early church age, that already was putting doubts and putting, sowing seed of discord among the people of God to say, who make you this leader there?
Who make you, as it says, as we read here, you take too much upon yourself. Why you lift yourself above the people of God, above the congregation of the Lord? And they were sowing this seed among the people of God. And you know, what happened with those things, with things like that, what happened, it brings divisions among the people of God, is because the people of God so gullible, they're listening to every word and every voice, and because if they are not established in the truth and careful to maintain self-judgment, they all of a sudden start to take sides and start to take, well, this one says this and this one says this.
You know, how many congregations and how many assemblies have been divided over this deceitful action? Who make you a leader? Who make you a leader? Who make you over the congregation of God? And Moses, as a godly man, he fell on his face and he beseeched the Lord for the Lord to give him the counsel and the guidance. And you know, I tell you, if I was Moses, And I had about two million people to lead. I can tell you that I'll go crazy. Take them and you lead them. You take the leadership. Because Moses had received such a load from God upon him. What a man he was.
The Bible teacher said he was the meekest man on earth. And we have those men that crept in unawares. What did they do? They, first of all, didn't come to God the way God had intended it on the basis of salvation of the sacrifice. We see it through Cain. Then they didn't want to have a separation, and they are like a Bilaam, they are teaching and greedily going after the Eor of Bilaam. And thirdly, they are gainsaying, desired gainsaying, like Korach, who said, who is the one who placed you in this authority? And by the way, do you know what God did to all these men?
In fact, with Korach, you read in Numbers chapter 16, the ground was opened and swallowed him and the families, and he ended up losing his life right there when God had to meet him in judgment. And you know, sometimes we read in Scripture such events that we wonder how these things have happened. And how much God in a severe way, disciplined in such a way, and yet God in His wisdom knows when and why. And it really speaks to us. And we have to ask ourselves the question, and all of us, individually and collectively, did I come to God on the basis of the salvation of the sacrifice and not on the basis of my work?
And do I want to live a life that is separated under the Lord, even though I am inclined from time to time to fall into sin, but do I confess my sin and seek to live a separated life? And do I want to serve the Lord from the bottom of my heart and not to elevate myself and to recognize those whom God had raised in our midst and to give them the respect that they do deserve? That's really challenging. All of us in our spheres feel that we fail so much in one area or another, or maybe in all of them altogether. Thank God for the salvation that we have through the Lord Jesus, our Messiah.
And so four things he said about these men that did not want to submit to the word of God. They are dreamers, verse 8. They are not like Michael the archangel, verse 9. They behave like brute beasts, verse 10. And they will be judged like other men in the past have been judged by God. And now quickly, in the next verses, verses 12 to 16, we learn another thing about this man. You remember what we said in the beginning? The question is, who are these men who crept in unawares? Number one, there are men that do not submit to the Word of God, verses 8 to 11. Number two, there are men who purposely handle the work of God.
Oh boy, you know what? I can't imagine that here we have God's work is going on. People getting saved. Believers getting instruction in the word of God, in the things of the Lord. And the work is moving on. And the work is growing. And there are those that come into the midst and not happy to see that the work is growing. And they will put a finger, they will seek to destroy the work of the Lord. And look what we find about these men. First of all, there are five things we read about these men in verses 12 and 13 that they are hindering the work of God.
Five things it says about them. In verse 12, it says, these are spots in your feasts of love. When they feast with you, they're feeding themselves without fear. That's number one. Number two, they are clouds without water, carried about off the winds. Number three, they are trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots. Number four, they are raging waves of the sea, forming out of their own shame. And number five, there are wandering stars to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever. You notice those five things or five descriptions that Jude is giving us about these men. Let me repeat those fives.
There are spots, there are clouds, there are trees, there are waves, there are stars. but all these five descriptions of these men show us that they are what they are they seem to give a right appearance but actually they are not look first of all spots in your feasts of love apparently the early believers had what you call feasts of love meaning loving each other having a gathering together of the saints coming together with a refreshment have a time around the Lord things and a time around a refreshing time they were having wonderful time together but those who was coming in the midst they were like spots that they feast with you but they actually feed themselves without fear they really do not participate in this in these feasts of love in a proper way.
They were like spots. They were like spots. They were coming, they were putting their marks in, if you will, but they were not really part of the whole celebration of the things of the Lord with the people of God, the Feast of Love. Then he says there are clouds. You know, when you look at the sky and you see those clouds that are dark, that seems to be having a lot of rain. There's a lot of rain going to come down. So they give an appearance. You see, the clouds they are, but without water. Empty. They carried about, he says, they're without water, carried about with the winds.
In other words, you know, they give an appearance as if they are full. But actually they are empty. If you look today, thank God for the sunny day today. But when you look at the cloudy days and you have those heavy clouds and you see them with dark. And you know, boy, they are fooled with this water is coming down soon. This rain is coming soon. And the rain does come. But when it's come to those men that crept in unawares, there are clouds without water. How can you be a cloud without water? You are not a cloud. Clouds supposed to have in it water that bring down the showers.
Thirdly, it says they are trees without fruit. Or trees that their fruit is withered. You know, if you have a tree, and you work hard, and you labor for the tree to bring fruit, and at its season, it doesn't bring fruit. That's how God described these men. That's how Jude described these men. Fourthly, verse 13, there are waves or raging waves. It says here in verse 13, forming out their own shape. You know, waves, when the waves of the sea coming in. And they are really coming, they are going to hit shore. They're coming with power. And here we see those waves that are forming out their own shame.
They don't bring something for the others to benefit, but they're forming out their own shame. And fifthly, he says about them that there are stars that reserve for them the blackness and darkness forever. Stars are supposed to give light. But those stars are only appearing as stars. But what reserved for them is blackness and darkness and the judgment of God forever. See, he gives us a description. But you notice, by the way, that verses 12 and 13, those five descriptions that he gives us about those men, are in affiliation or in association with the work of God. When the people gather together, the feasts of love, instead of being there for the blessing of people, of the people of God, what they are, they are spots.
They only feed themselves, but they don't care about the people of God. And that's what the Lord has challenged the leaders of Israel and the leaders in the early church. Feed the flock of God, which he has purchased with his own blood. God wants those of us, all of us, to be a blessing to the people of God, to be an encouragement to the people of God. And so, in verses 12 and 13, there are five descriptions about what they are doing. And now, quickly, verse 14 and 15, he tells us about the prophecy that Enoch already had prophesied against such. You notice that in the next verse, verses 14 and 15.
And Enoch, Hanoch, also the seventh from Adam, prophesied. By the way, we do not read in the Bible about Enoch in the earlier chapter of the book of Genesis, in Genesis chapter 5. We don't read of him that he was a prophet. We read Enoch walked with God. He was a man of God and he was not. God took him. But here we learn an additional truth that we have learned to the one that has to do with the archangel Michael. Here we find out that Enoch, Hanuch, was a prophet. He was speaking for God. And look what he said. What Hanuch said. He was the seventh from Adam.
He prophesied of these. Who are the these? The man that crept in, in Jude verse 4. He prophesied of them and he says, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints. What is coming for? To execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Hanok Enoch he was the seventh from Adam if you will look at the book of Genesis you will find him in Genesis chapter 5 in verses 18 to 24 Enoch was a man of God he walked with God and God finds so much pleasure with Hanok that he took him he took him out of this scene the only two men in the scripture that we find that God had taken him out of this scene without to go through the avenue of death enoch he took him to heaven but while he was here on earth he prophesied and he spoke about these and it says what he said he says the lord cometh with ten thousands
of his saints he's speaking about the coming of the lord and you notice you notice that it's a personal god will come himself personally but when he comes he's going to come with 10 000 of his saints you know that it takes us beyond the the time of the of this present day dispensation he takes us all the way to the end of the tribulation period where we read in revelation chapter 19 that the lord is coming out of heaven and when he comes he come to to execute judgment upon this world that rejected him and here we find out that he come with 10 000 of his saints now the number here can be
applied to all those redeemed company that he coming with and you know what it's interesting that when we understand from scripture that the church the heavenly company going to be raptured first Thessalonians chapter 4 we're going to be taken out of this scene prior to the tribulation period and we're going to come with him at the end of the tribulation period and when he is going to set his rightful place in this world he will execute first of all judgment and the saints are going to come with him and we read in Revelation we read that angels are going to come with him as well and we're going to come with our blessed lord yeshua
the messiah and he's coming to to deal righteously with those that rejected him he's going to deal with that which is needed to be dealt with and to set things in order when he's going to set the messianic kingdom and israel restored back to himself and he's setting himself as the king of kings and lord of lords but before he's going to set up the kingdom he's going to execute judgment and you notice no one will escape the judgment of God no one that has not been forgiven on the basis of the work of Yeshua the Messiah no one will escape the judgment of God again beloved brothers and sisters the emphasis in jude is
a judgment that going to come upon those that rejected the lord apostasy needed to be judged what is apostasy apostasy are those that are so close to the truth they are so near to the truth of the word of god but they haven't embraced the truth of god but rejected it rejected it 2 Thessalonians teaches us this he is coming to judge he is going to execute judgment upon all and he will convince all that are ungodly among all the ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him he is going to come in judgment he is going to judge those that rejected him
and those men that crept in unawares you know what it is a foolish mistake to come among the people of God to pretend that one belonged to Jesus and reject the word of God you or anybody might have fooled the believers but never fooled God because God gonna have one day to settle matters with everyone it's better to settle it at the foot of the cross where Yeshua the Messiah paid the price for our sin and sins it's better to come to the foot of the cross or otherwise we're gonna have one gonna have to stand at the great white throne judgment you either come men either come to God to the Lord Jesus as
the Lamb of God or will have to stand before him as the Lion of the tribe of Judah and that's a choice that everyone will have to make and Jude warning the believers earnestly contend for the faith which was once and for all was delivered to the saints don't let people fool you.
Don't let others draw you away from the things of the Lord because God is going to come in judgment even upon the people of God. He will come in judgment. Sin will be judged. And so for the believer it's not an eternal damnation but God will judge his own people. Judgment must begin at the house of God. We read it in scripture. For the believer, it has nothing to do with our eternal destiny because our eternal destiny is wrapped up with the work of the Messiah. But for the unbeliever, it will be eternal, eternal condemnation. He's going to come with ten thousands of his saints to execute judgment upon all.
Then the last verse here, in verse 16, it says, These men walk after their own lusts. These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts. In their mouths they speak great swelling words, having man's person in admiration because of advantage. Who are these men? These men are men that do not submit themselves to the Word of God, number one. Number two, they do not help or they hinder the work of God. And when I say men, I don't mean only male. It could be men and it could be women. It's people like you and like me. May God help us. May God help us to earnestly contend for the faith which was once and for all was delivered unto the saints.
Can you say amen? Amen. Let's close our Bible and we'll stop with this session for today.
