Shabbat Shalom everyone, God bless you. We are continuing on the study together of the Gospel of Yohanan, John. And in the second chapter, so I hope you have your Bibles with you. I would like you please to turn to John chapter 2, Yohanan chapter 2. Yohanan, John, was this man of whom we read the disciples whom Yeshua loved. He is the one that was used by the Lord, by the Spirit of God, to give us this fourth Gospel, the one that presents our Lord Yeshua, our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, as the eternal Son of God. God the Son, the creator of the universe, who became a man, entered into this world through the Virgin Miriam, and lived here for 33, 33 and a half years, and died on the Roman cross, was buried and rose again for our justification, and ascended to heaven.
And he is now seated at God's right hand, waiting the day in which he is going to come to take his people, the heavenly company home, and also to restore his people, the earthly company Israel back to himself, and establish a kingdom which shall never end. And so we are in the second chapter of the gospel of John, and we want to read today, beloved brothers and sisters, from verse 13 to the end of the chapter. So John 2, Yohanan 2, verse 13, and we read, And the Jews' Passover was at hand, and Yeshua, Jesus, went up to Jerusalem, and found in the temple those who sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the changers of money sitting.
And said unto them that Saul, take these things, hence, make not my father's house, The house of merchandise, and his disciples remembered, that it was written, The zeal of thine house has eaten me up. Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, What sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou dost these things? Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was his temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of the temple of the temple, when therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them, and they believed the scripture, and the word which Yeshua had said.
Now, when he was in Jerusalem, in Jerusalem, in the Passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of men, for he knew what was in men. This is John 2, verses 13 to 25, and this is extremely interesting passage, beloved brothers and sisters, because in this passage, we learn of how much it grieved the heart of our Lord, Yeshua the Messiah, when he arrived to the temple in the city of Jerusalem, and he saw what was going there. Now, remember, again, beloved brothers and sisters, and dear friends, as we're studying the Gospel of Yohanan, the Gospel of John, that really, this fourth Gospel, was written, as it says in John chapter 20, and verse 30 and 31, it says, and listen to these words, and many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.
This is the book of John, the book of Yohanan. But these are written, that ye might believe that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life through his name. In other words, Yohanan, John, the apostle, the one who called himself the disciples, the Talmid, whom Yeshua loved, the purpose that he wrote this book, this Gospel, the fourth Gospel found in the Brit HaChadasha, in the New Testament, is that ye, this is the disciple, but not only the disciple, all men, might believe that Yeshua, that Jesus, is indeed the Christ, the Mashiach, the Messiah. But not only the Messiah, but also the Son of God.
He could have never be the Messiah unless he is the Son of God, Ben HaElohim. And that believing ye might have life, notice, through his name. And you shall call his name Yeshua, Jesus. Why Yeshua? Because the word Yeshua means Jehovah the Savior. You will call his name Yeshua, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew chapter 1 and verse 21. So now as we move along, in the second chapter of the Gospel of John, in the first 12 verses, we have seen the first miracle that the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, performed. Out of the eight miracles that are found only in the Gospel of Yohanan, John chapter 2, verses 1 to 12, present before us the first miracle that our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, have done in the land of Israel, in the north town of Cana in the Galil.
What was the first miracle? He turned the water into wine. According to John 2, verse 9, it says, When the rulers of the feast have tasted the water that was made wine. The water that was made wine. In a miraculous way, the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, performed these miracles to meet the need that existed in Cana, in the little town called Cana in the Galil, where there was a wedding, and the very fact that He performed this first miracle only shows us that He was sanctioning the marriage union. And we read in Scripture, in verse 11 of John 2, it says, This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee and manifested forth His glory.
The word for miracle, it comes from the Hebrew word ot, or sign. And that is the first miracle that Yeshua have made in the public ministry in the land of Israel. So now, after He was in the Galil, in the town called Cana, in the Galil, we find out that in verse 12, He went to the town called Kfar Nachum. In English, you say Kfar Nachum, but in Hebrew, it's two different words. Kfar means a village. Nachum is the name of the person. It may have been the village of Nachum, the prophet of Israel, the village of Nachum, or the village of any person by the name of Nachum.
Nachum means, L'Nachem means to comfort. The village of comfort. He went to this village, and his mothers, and his brethren. This is his brethren, according to the flesh. This is the brothers that he had, who were born to Yosef and Miriam, and also his disciples. So after he left Cana, he went with his mother, with his brethren, with his disciples. This is his brethren, according to the flesh. This is the brothers that he had, who were born to Yosef and Miriam, to the village called Kfar Nachum. And they continued there, and not many days. And now, when we arrive to the verses that we are dealing with in this ministry meeting, verses 13 to verse 25, we find our Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, now in the city of Jerusalem, the city of Jerusalem.
And notice what we read, actually, from verses 13 to verse 17, the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, revealed his zeal for God. After all, remember, we have to remember that he, of course, indeed, is God the Son. But now, as a man, he took union, human nature, with his divine nature. And now here, as a man, he seeked to please God. And you can see that he was the only man that, in a full sense of the word, sought to please God. And he had the zeal for the holiness of God, for the righteousness of God. So, we find him, in verses 13 to 17, cleansing the temple. In Hebrew, we call it Beit HaMikdash.
The Beit HaMikdash is cleansing the temple in the city of Jerusalem. Now, you notice that he just began his ministry. This is the beginning of his ministry, his public ministry. After John, Yohanan, said, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. And after again, this is John the Baptizer, said in John chapter 1 and verse 35, once again, the following day, Behold the Lamb of God. Then Yeshua went to the Galil, to the north of Israel, he gleaned some of his disciples, such as Andrew, and Simon Peter, and Philip, and Netanel, and others, of course. And they followed after him, then he, them, and others together went to the marriage in Cana of the Galil for the marriage union.
And now he's going back south to the central of Israel, where the day of Pesach, the feast of Passover, is about to begin. According to verse 13, it says, Now, again, I want you to notice that it says the Passover of the Jews, or the Jews' Passover, was at hand. Now, of course, it depends which translation you read, but in some of the translations, it simply says, in the Hebrew text, it says, Vayikrav, or it drew near, the Passover was drawing near. And it's a Passover that the Jewish people keep and maintain, according to the order that God had given to our forefathers, the people of Israel.
But it's somehow, when it's being written in such a way, the Jews' Passover, one might incline to see that this Passover, that was really the feast of the Lord, because Israel, our people, when they departed from the ways of the Lord, it become, in a sense, like their feast, rather than the feast that belonged to the Lord. This is such a dangerous thing, when we don't realize, in our life, even us today, that whatever belonged to the Lord is belonged to the Lord. We are guests at His feast. We are guests at His table. It's not ours. It is His. You know, I find it very interesting that when you read in Revelation chapter 2 and 3, about the seven churches of Asia Minor, that the Lord Yeshua wrote to them, these seven letters, it is interesting that while all the first six letters, it says, unto the angel of the church in Tyatara, or in Ephesus, or whatever the name of the city may be, when it comes to the final assembly, the final church in Revelation chapter 3 and verse 14, it says, unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans, rather than to say, unto the angel of the church that is in Laodicea, but it says, unto the angel of the church that belonged to the Laodiceans, it no longer belonged to the Lord, it belonged to them because there was a departure from the ways of the Lord.
This is the condition in which the present day church age in which we live in today is, you might say, the last day of the church age in which we live in today. But you can see that in the time where our Lord Jesus, the Messiah, was on earth before the church was born, these were the last days, you might say, of the people of Israel who will not recognize as a nation that Yeshua is the Messiah. So it became to be like the Jews' Passover rather than Jehovah's Passover, the feast that belonged to the Lord. So Yeshua is gone, as he has done so.
Since he was a boy growing up in the land of Israel, it is very common for any and every Jewish male man, specifically, of course, the elders, to go to the city of Jerusalem in order to keep the feast of Pesach. To remind you that according to the book of Deuteronomy in chapter 16 and verse 16, the Lord commanded Israel, saying in verse 16, Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose in the feast of unleavened bread. This is Pesach, Passover. In the feast of weeks, this is weeks, Shavuot, Pentecost. And in the feast of tabernacles or Sukkot in Hebrew, the feast of booth.
And three times a year, on the 14th day of the month of Nisan, Israel would keep the feast of Pesach. Some 50 days after, the people of Israel would keep the feast of Shavuot, the feast of weeks. And in the fall season, on the 15th day of the month of Tishrei, Israel will keep the feast of tabernacles. Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose. So here we go. Yeshua himself, as it was his custom, since he was a boy with his father yourself, his stepfather yourself, and all the Jewish males to come to the city of Yerushalayim to keep the feast of Pesach.
Now I want to make a note here, and it's extremely interesting, that when Yeshua came to Jerusalem, on that particular day, that was the first time that he had gone to Yerushalayim for Passover, specifically in his ministry. Of course, as you will notice, when time passes by, you will notice that he was once and again in the city of Yerushalayim doing his three, three and a half years of public ministry. According to John chapter 5 and verse 1, we do read, after this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Yerushalayim. You notice it may have been a Passover here, but it could be also weeks, the feast of Pentecost, but he's gone to the city of Yerushalayim to keep that feast, beloved brothers and sisters.
According to chapter 6 of the Gospel of John, in verse 4, we read again, And the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. And you notice that? And Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and he saw a great company come unto him, and he saith unto Philip, and so on. So again, Passover was drawing nigh. He was in anticipation to go, to keep the feast of Pesach, like any other one of the people of Israel. You notice, once again, in chapter 11, in verse 55, it says, And the Jews' Passover was nigh at hand, and many went out of the country, up to Jerusalem, before the Passover, to purify themselves.
So we find out that the feast of Pesach, Pesach, you remember, when Israel came out of the land of Egypt, God had a Passover, all the homes of our forefathers, the Hebrews, and he delivered Israel, through the blood of the lamb, that was killed, and its blood was placed upon the dopers, and the lintels. And so here we go, we can see how the Lord, is now in the city of Jerusalem, to keep, as it was common to him, and his family, the feast of Pesach. But now notice, beloved brothers and sisters, in these next verses, it's kind of sad, because, he is going to Yerushalayim, Yerushalayim is a capital city, the center, God set his name there.
The temple, Beit HaMikdash is there. Initially it was built, if you remember, by King Shlomo, King Solomon. That was destroyed, in 586 B.C. Then Israel returned back, the Jewish people, the remnant returned back, to the land, and then that temple, a smaller way, was rebuilt again. Then now time passes by, and here we come now, to the time that Yeshua is there, the second temple is there, was renovated, and beautified by Herod, and here we have the Lord, coming to the temple, and what does he find? According to verse 14, he found in the temple, those that sold oxen, and sheep, and doves, and the changes of money sitting.
What does he find? He found that there were those, who sold the sacrifices, the oxen, the sheep, the doves, and there were those, who were also, money changers, they were, changing money, in order to provide, special money, that is for the temple, to offer, to the Lord, so here we find, the Lord, himself coming, and what does he see? That, it become, there at the temple, that which was, dishonoring, unto, the Lord, there was those, that sold, oxen, and sheep, and dove. Now you see, it's common, to come from afar. Many have come, for the Feast of Pesach, not only from around, the north of Israel, but from beyond, the country, beyond the land of Israel.
The Jewish community, worldwide, would come, to keep, the Feast of Pesach. It's one of the, most unique, feasts, unique, time for our people, of Israel, because, we look always, back at the history, of how God, our Father, the God of Israel, have taken, our forefathers, out of the land, of Egypt, out of bondage, and brought, our people, into the promised, land. And so, you might, have there, thousands upon thousands, some suggested, that there will be, over a million people, in a city of Jerusalem, doing that Feast of Passover. It was a tremendous, experience, to be, in a high holiday, or high, day, such as Pesach, in the city of Jerusalem.
So, but, sadly, sadly, what happened, is that, you now, because people, came from afar, many do not even, bring their own, sacrifices, because to carry, their sacrifice, with them, on such a long journey, demand a lot. And maybe, by the time, they arrive to Jerusalem, the animal itself, is no longer, you might say, without blemish. And so, they were always, available, the oxen, the sheep, the doves, and other animals, available there, to purchase them, and to, offer them, unto the Lord, for the Passover sacrifice. But as we can see, that sadly, it became like a place, where business, was going on. In other words, you can see, that the, those, that the money changers, were charging, high interest there, in order for the people, to purchase the, sacrifices.
And what we could see, what we could learn, from this passage, that the Lord, was definitely, unhappy, with the condition, that existed, in the temple. And the temple, is the place, where God, wanted, his people, to worship him, to honor him, to bring, sacrifices, which will, atone, for their sins, to be broken, before him. But, beloved friend, what did the Lord find there? What did Yeshua find there? He found there, that which was going on, the money changers, the sacrifice, salesmen, it was like, a business, a place where, things are being done, for business, and the spiritual aspect, of it, was really, set aside. aside.
And so, imagine, imagine, beloved friend, that was such, a large community, perhaps over, a million people, in the city, of Yerushalayim, and many, many, have been, filling the temple, and the marketplace, right there. And sadly, the Lord, have seen, that which was going on, and notice, beloved, brothers and sisters, what he does, according, to verse 14, as we just read, that he found, in the temple, those that sold, animals, and those that change, money, and, this was the condition, the set conditional, state that existing, during the time, when the Lord, came, to his people, Israel.
Doesn't it remind us, what the prophet, Isaiah, said, in the first chapter, before, the first, temple, was destroyed, Isaiah, was writing, by the word of the Lord, hear the word of the Lord, ye rulers, of Sodom, give ear, unto the law, of our God, ye people of Gamora, to what purpose, is the multitude, of your sacrifices, unto me, saith the Lord, I am full, of the burnt offering, of rams, and of the fed, of fed beasts, and I delight, not in the blood, of bullocks, or of lambs, or of the he goats, when ye come, to appear, before me, who has required, this at your hand, to tread, my courts, you notice that, the same
kind of, you might say, of challenge, to Israel, was already mentioned, sometime, at about 700, 750 BC, even before, the first temple, was destroyed, by the Babylonian, and the Lord, appealed, to his nation, Israel, he says, to them, in verse 13, of Isaiah 1, bring no more, vain oblation, incense, is an abomination, unto me, the new moon, the Shabbat, the calling of assemblies, I cannot, away with, it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting, your new moons, and your appointed feast, my soul, haters, they are a trouble, unto me, I am weary, to bear them, in other words, the Lord, is seeing the heart, the Lord, is seeing the heart, beloved friend, and when the heart,
of God's people, turn away from him, and the religious activity, become so mundane, say, without any, without any, brokenness, before him, God, cannot, be pleased, now, there were always, a remnant, in Israel's history, there were always, godly men, that were there, men and women, who loved the Lord, and wanted to serve him, but the, majority, who was led, by the, spiritual leaders, who turn away, the people, from the things of God, that's the people, to whom the Lord, speak, both, in Isaiah 1, and in John, Yohanan, chapter 2, this is rather, to remind us today, that you and I, have to always, remember this, even today, because it's not different, today, in the present day
age, of the church age, how dangerous it is, when we become, merely, a religious group, and it become, a religion, faith in Yeshua, the Messiah, and life for him, here in this world, become like, a religious system, you remember, what Paul, said to Timothy, in 2nd Timothy, specifically, in chapter 3, he told Timothy, he said to him, what will occur, in the latter days, of the church age, this know also, 2nd Timothy, 3 verse 1, that in the last days, perilous times, shall come, for men, should be lovers, of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemous, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, furious, despires of those, that are good,
traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures, more than lovers of God, listen to this, beloved friend, verse 5, of 2nd Timothy, chapter 3, having a form, of godliness, but denying, the power thereof, Paul said, to Timothy, from such, turn, away, this is, this is, this is, always, the danger, in Israel's, history, in the church, history, to turn, faith, or the life, of the people of God, become merely, a religion, without, reality, and we can, search our own hearts, and we know, our own hearts, and how we, so easily, can fall, into that condition, and so, here we are, in these next verses, after the Lord, have seen, what was going on, what do we read,
in verse 15, Yeshua now, drove, according to verse 15, he drove away, out of the temple, all those, who did, business, in the temple, notice that, when he had made, a scourge, of small cords, he drove, them all, out of, the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen, and he poured out, the changers, money, and overthrew, the table, it is amazing, here we can see, the righteous, indignation, of this man, by the name, of Yeshua, the Messiah, to remind you, beloved brothers, and sisters, this is the beginning, of the public ministry, of the Lord, Yeshua the Messiah, John chapter 2, it was a beginning, of a miracle, in verse 11, of John chapter 2, now
he is coming, to the temple, to Beit Hamikdash, in the city, of Jerusalem, and now, he is coming there, he is seeing, what is going on, and then he made, this scourge, according to verse 15, in Hebrew, it is called, Chavalim, it is probably, some of those, ropes and strings, that the animals, were held by, he made himself, a scourge, or a Chavalim, he put them together, it is all made out, of cords, and he cast out, Malke, he cast out all, out of the temple, the sheep, and the oxen, he poured out, the changers money, and he overthrew, their tables, he was unhappy, with the condition, here, in the temple, in Jerusalem, this is,
kind of sad, because the temple, was built, for the express purpose, that Israel, and not only Israel, it is become a house, for all nations, to come and worship, the true and living God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but, sadly, sadly, that was the condition, that prevailed, there, at the time, that Yeshua, began his ministry, and there, in the city of Jerusalem, and so, he drove them all out, you can just imagine, it had been said, that at the time, when Pesach, was there, there were, some believe, there were over a million, even two million, people, in the city of Jerusalem, and that, there were, so many, of them, going to the temple,
imagine, it was such a, place to come, for the worship, of, the God of Israel, for keeping, the Pesach, in the, land, of Israel, and in the city, of Jerusalem, and so, we continue to read, beloved brothers, sisters, and sisters, that after Yeshua, found, those that sold, and bought, and sold, and those that changed, the money, there, he now, is telling them, as we read here, he's telling them, very interesting, because immediately, in the next verse, he said unto them, that sold doves, take, these, things, hence, make, not, my father's house, a house, of merchandise, now, notice, he's saying, make, not, my father's house, a house, of merchandise, and, that shows us, when he says,
my father's house, that shows us, that he, is, the son, of God, now, as man, claiming, ownership, of this temple, you notice, make, not, my father's house, a house, of merchandise, because, why, this is, his father's house, this is, the temple, in Yerushalayim, it is, God's house, it is, his father's house, bait avi, as it says, it's not yours, it is, my father's house, in Hebrew, in this word, it says, lo taasur, et bait avi, le bait, mikach, um mimkar, you shall, not make, my father's house, a house, of a business, merchandise, buying, and selling, and buying, and selling, this is, a house, of worship, this is, the temple, the Beit HaMikdash, where God, would
be, presence, in the midst, of his people, and the worship, will rise up, to, the Lord, himself, and so, beloved brothers, and sisters, then notice, this is so interesting, because, all of a sudden, we find, we have this clause here, in verse 17, that, his disciples, remember, that it was written, again, to remind you, beloved brothers, and sisters, that disciples, these are Jewish disciples, they knew the Hebrew scriptures, they knew very well, that the Hebrew scriptures, was speaking about, coming with email, they didn't quite understand, how it will be, but they understood that, they also understood, beloved brothers, and sisters, that when they heard, what the Lord have said, they understood, that they have once,
have read, all these things, in the Hebrew text, and so, where the disciples, remembered, in other words, apparently, if they remember, they must have read, this passage, and what was the passage, is found in Psalm 69, in verse 9, where it says, for, the zeal, of thine house, hath eaten me up, what does that mean, in Hebrew it says, kikinat, kikinat, beitcha, achaltani, kikinat, beitcha, achaltani, for the zeal, of thine house, has eaten me up, in other words, the Lord, was so zealous, for the house of God, for the house, of his father, for the house, where the temple, of worship, supposed to, to rise up, to God, so by seeing, what was going on,
and by, observing, the manner, whereby things happen, how the worship, you might say, was exchanged, if you will, with buying, and selling, and extortionating, things from, others who are coming, from far distance, things were not done, in a way, that it pleased the Lord, and therefore, the Lord, said, take, these things, hence, make not, my father's house, notice, a house of merchandise, and again, verse 17, the disciples, remember, that it was written, written where, in the Tehillim, in the Psalms, Psalm 69, 9, the zeal, of thine house, notice in verse 16, my father's house, in verse 17, thine house, this is, the father's house, Beit Avi, Beit HaAba, the father's house, so here is, the
zealousness, of our Lord, Yeshua, the Messiah, for the, father's house, this psalm, of course, Psalm 69, he's quoted, elsewhere, in the scripture, and some of these, portion of the psalms, are quoted, in, John 7, in, John 15, and, in the gospel, of Matthew, and, in the book, of Romans, it is, it is very interesting, because, these verses, quoted, from Psalm 69, is mentioned, not only, by the Lord, Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, himself, but also, it is mentioned, by the apostle, himself, you notice, what it says, in Romans, chapter 11, and verse 9, it says, and David saith, let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumbling block, and a recompense unto
them, verse 10, let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, and bow down their back, always, now, these two verses, are actually, quoted, from Psalm 69, verses 22, and 23, so it is, amazing to see, how often, this special psalm, Psalm 69, is quoted, in the New Testament, in the Brit HaChadasha, and so, beloved brothers and sisters, to remind you, that the 69th Psalm, is a special psalm, that's speaking to us, vividly, about, the Messiah, the cry of the Messiah, as the sacrifice, of the trespass offering, you remember how it started, save me, O God, for the waters are come in, unto my soul, I sink in deep mire, where there is no
standing, I am come, into deep waters, where the floods, overflow me, I am weary, of my crying, my throat, is dried, mine eyes, fail, while I wait, for my God, they that hate me, without a cause, are more than, the hair, of my head, they that would destroy me, being mine enemies, wrongfully, are mighty, then I restore, that which I took, not away, you see Psalm 69, is the trespass, offering psalm, the psalm, the trespass, means the guilt psalm, the psalm, that, represent before us, the fact, that the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, took the guilt, of each and every one of us, that trusted in him, it says in verse 8, I become a stranger,
unto my brethren, and an alien, unto my mother's children, and then verse 9, for the zeal, of thine house, has eaten me up, amazing Psalm 69, that present before us, the Messiah suffering, for the guilt, of us all, the trespass offering, Psalm, Psalm 69, and so we continue, to read beloved brothers, and sisters, in the next verses, in verse 18, and on, verse 18, all the way, to verse 22, how Yeshua, revealed his zeal, for God, by giving, his life, for man's, salvation, you notice beloved brothers, then answered the Jewish people, the Jews, and they said unto him, verse 18, what sign, showest thou, unto us, seeing that thou, doest these things, see the Bible,
teaches us, that Jews, require, a sign, and here again, the Jewish leaders, you notice, wherever it says, the Jews, in the gospel of John, almost 90 times, 90 percent, I should say, it's applied, to the spiritual leaders, of Israel, and so they ask him, what sign, you show to us, that you are doing, these things, in other words, they wanted a sign, who are you, how come, you're chasing everybody, out of the temple, how come, you're turning, the tables, upside down, how come, you're driving out, the sheep, and the oxen, and how come, you're driving out, the money changers, out of the temple, everyone, was sent out, of the temple, in Jerusalem, so they ask
him, show us a sign, seeing that you do, these things, why, who are you, show us a sign, you notice, what we read, in verse 19, Yeshua used, the temple, as an illustration, he is taking, the very same temple, that he, was right there, in the midst, of the people, of Israel, he is using this, as an illustration, to speak about, his own body, and his own death, burial, and resurrection, Yeshua answered, and said unto them, destroy this temple, notice that, destroy this temple, and I will raise it up, then said the Jews, forty and six years, was this temple, in building, and wilt thou, rear it up, in three days, now beloved, brothers and
sisters, I would like to tell you, that the temple, was built, enlarged, sometime, already, before, the Lord, even was born, at about 20 BC, it was already, being developed, by, Herod the great, but it was really, enlarged, the second temple, was enlarged, it was, built or enlarged, beginning from 20 BC, and it ended, by about, 64 AD, so really, it took about, 80 something years, to build, and enlarge, the temple, but when the, Lord was there, the already, 46 years, the temple was, in building, it was still, not completed, it was in building, and if it's already, 46 years, in building, he says, then how can you, rear it up, in three days, but Yeshua,
wanted to, communicate with them, the very fact, that the reason, that he came, he didn't only, come to this world, to live a long life, he came in order, that he will die, and become, the sacrifice, for sin, to make atonement, for sin, to deal, once and for all, with the question, of sin, and to take away, the sin, of this world, and so, you notice, how he is answering, Yeshua answering, to them, while the Jewish leaders, did not understand, what he said, yet, according to verse 21, Yeshua pointed, to his own body, and you notice, what he said, in verse 21, he spake, of the temple, Mikdash, the temple, of his body, this is
an interesting, expression, beloved brothers, and sisters, in John chapter 3, in verse 4, we read, Nicodemus said to him, how can a man, be born, when he is old, can he enter, a second time, into his mother's womb, and be born, you see, these are some of the questions, that others, have asked, they did not quite, understand, in chapter 4, if you remember, the Samaritan, woman, she also, was puzzled, and she was talking, to the Lord, in verse 11, of chapter 4, the woman said, unto him, sir, thou has nothing, to draw with, and the well is deep, from whence, then, has thou, that living water, you see, he is, giving them, an illustration, he
actually, almost like, speaking a parable, unto them, looking at the temple, being at the temple, but applying it, to the temple, of his body, in chapter 6, and verse 52, the Jews, the Jews, therefore, strove among themselves, saying, how can this man, give us his flesh to eat, again, he was speaking about, his own body, as the bread, as the food from heaven, man, from heaven, he is the one, that going to give himself, as the ransom, for many, well, they didn't quite understand, and they asked him, they asked him, when the Lord, has spoken to them, here in these verses, and he was speaking about, his body, they didn't quite understand, that he does
not mean, the temple itself, that was already, at 46 years, in building, but he is speaking about, his own body, as the temple, and so we read, in the next verses, verse 22, the disciples, later on remember, and it's amazing, how John, is now taking us, you might say, to later on, beyond the death, and the burial, and resurrection, of the Messiah, Yeshua, and he is just giving us, a clause here, in verse 22, when therefore, he was risen, he didn't die yet, but John takes us for, you might say, put a clause here, when Yeshua was risen, from the dead, his disciples remember, that he said this, unto them, and they believed, the scripture,
and the word, which Yeshua, had said, in other words, the evangelist, John, the apostle, take us for a moment, beyond, life, and death, and resurrection, of the Messiah, and then, when the disciples, at that time, after the resurrection, of the Lord Jesus, they understood, the word, that he spoke here, at the beginning, of his public, ministry, and so beloved, brothers and sisters, just to conclude, the second chapter, of the gospel of John, verses 23, 24, and 25, Yeshua, revealed, to all, that he knows, the heart, of everyone, Yeshua, knows, all things, the Lord Jesus, being God, the son, he knows your heart, he knows my heart, he knows everyone, in the, in the face, of
this world, because he is the creator, he is the one, that knows, the hearts, of all men, it says, in verse 23, now when he was, in Jerusalem, at the Passover, in the feast day, many, believed, on his name, notice, why they believe, on his name, when they saw, the miracles, which he did, apparently he did, some miracles, there in Jerusalem, we read, in chapter 2, and verse 11, that the first miracle, he did, was that he turned, the water, into wine, and according, to verse 23, of John 2, many believe, because they saw, other miracles, but we don't have, them recorded here, they are not recorded, in the gospel of John, and the miracle,
you might say, that they could observe, there, is that he could chase, everyone, out of the temple, and he said, as he said, in verse 16, take these things, hence, make not my father's house, a house of merchandise, and apparently, the multitude, have seen, what he has done, which have never happened before, when a man, would do such a thing, in the temple, in Jerusalem, and so many, believe on his name, many, believe, on his name, but notice, what we read, and I believe, it is very important, beloved friend, as you listen, to this message, if you are not a believer, in the Lord, Yeshua, the Messiah, this verse, shows us, that the Lord, knows,
each, and every one's heart, and it is important, to believe, on the Lord, not because of, merely, an external, miracles, that you or I see, but to believe, on the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, because of who he is, to recognize, that he is God, the son, to recognize, that he is, the one that was born, to the virgin Miriam, to recognize, that he is that, holy one of Israel, to recognize, that he is, the promised Messiah, to recognize, that you and I, are sinners by nature, and we need, forgiveness from God, and the only way, to receive forgiveness, from God, is by faith, in the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, and not because of miracles, that
he did, for you, or for me, or for anyone, in this world, but because of, who he is, because of, who he is, the lover, of our souls, the God man, the Messiah, himself, so many, believe on his name, when they saw, the miracles, which he did, verse 23, but notice, what verse 24, and 25 say, but Yeshua, did not commit himself, unto them, because he knew, all men, he did not, commit himself, to them, because he knew, all men, why, he did not, commit himself, to them, because he knew, the reality, in each, and every one, of them, did they, really believe, on him, because they, recognized, that they have sinned, and he came,
to die, for the sin, of this world, you see, here is what we learn, the importance, of faith, faith, cometh by hearing, and hearing, by the word of God, John 3, 16, for God, so loved the world, that he gave, his only begotten son, that whosoever, believeth on him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life, faith unto salvation, is not faith, that is just merely, because a miracle, came into one's life, and we believe on him, just because, we want to get more miracles, no, we believe on him, because we know, that he is the one, and only, who could forgive, our sins, he can provide, redemption, for my soul, to understand, that we are
sinful, and we deserve, to be judged, by God, but here is one, that gave himself, for us, and so notice, the concluding verse, of John 2, and he did not need, that any should testify, of man, for he knew, what was in, man, this is, so, important, my dear friends, to understand, and to accept this, the Lord, Jesus, the Messiah, knows, what is in, man, in 1st Samuel, chapter 16, we have, this interesting, experience, it says, and the Lord, said unto Samuel, in verse 7, look not, on his countenance, or on his height, or on the height, of his stature, because I have refused him, for the Lord, seeth not, as man seeth, for man,
looketh, on the outward appearance, but the Lord, looketh on the heart, when, Shmuel, Samuel, the prophet of Israel, was going to, anoint the king, in Israel, then, all the brothers, of David, came before him, to be presented, before Shmuel, and, and when, Eliab, came, and, God, told Samuel, that, was not the one, that, going to be the king, of Israel, why?
Because the Lord, seeth not, as man seeth, for man, looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord, looketh, on the heart, God knows, the heart of all men, as we read here, in John 2, verse 24, because he knew, all men, there is a verse, in Revelation, chapter 2, as the Lord, writing to the seven assemblies, in Asia Minor, we read, in Revelation 2, and verse 23, where the Lord, write to the church, of Tyataira, you notice, what he said, concerning, he said, and I will, kill her children, with death, and all the churches, should know, that I am he, which search the rain, and the hearts, and I will give unto, every one of
you, according to your works, the Lord, search the rains, and know, their hearts, Revelation, chapter 2, and verse 23, and so, my dear friend, as we conclude, with the second chapter, of the gospel of John, our hearts, is moved, with the fact, that the Lord, Yeshua, was so displeased, with the condition, that we veil, in the temple, in Jerusalem, at his first coming, that he said, take these things, hands, and make, not my father's house, a house of merchandise, the zeal, of thine house, have eaten me up, we read it, in from Psalm 69, in verse 9, and so, it behooved us, also today, as we live, in these last days, of the church age,
in a time, where every man, does that, which is right, in his own eyes, we also, can search our hearts, and the Lord, knows our hearts, and he seek, to draw our hearts, to him, that our worship, of him, will be sincere, not merely, an external, worship, without value, but an internal, worship, from the heart, sincere, out of appreciation, of who the Lord is, and what, he, hath done, for us, and so, here we are, in the Gospel of John, and to remind you again, of the verse, that is the central thought, here in John, the Gospel, these things are written, that ye might believe, that Yeshua is the Messiah, the Son of God, and
that believing, ye might have life, through his name, Jesus, did not commit himself, unto them, because he knew, all men, and needed not, that any should testify, of men, for he knew, what was, in men, I trust, that you turn, to him, who know your heart, and come to him, and say, Lord, I need you, as my Lord, and Savior, and if you are believer, you can ask, Lord, help me, to have a heart, that is tender, and broken, before you, help me, to have, not merely, an external religion, but an internal condition, of the heart, that will be suitable, to honor you, and to praise you, and to worship you, in a right way,
well, God bless you, dear brothers and sisters, God bless you, my friend, may the Lord, continue on, in leading us, to follow, after him, take care, shalom, shalom, shalom.
