Shalom, my dear brothers and sisters. We are continuing together with our study on the Gospel of John. We have arrived to chapter 18, and in this 18th chapter, we have this time in which the Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah was captured and taken, ultimately, to be crucified. To remind you that His public ministry ended when we have arrived to the end of chapter 12 in the Gospel of John. And from chapter 13 to chapter 17, Yeshua the Messiah was with His disciples, with His Talmidim, in the Aperum, in the city of Jerusalem. Then, together, they have left, they went to the garden, called in Hebrew, Gatshmanim, Gatshmanim, Gatshmanim. And there, in the garden of Gatshmanim, Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah was captured and taken to Hanan, Kayafas, and ultimately to Pilate, who sent him to die on a Roman cross.
We have covered in our previous ministry meeting, the first 14 verses of John chapter 18. And we have learned, and we have learned in this portion of Scripture, that Yeshua the Messiah is seen there as the obedient servant of the Lord, God, who allowed the men that came to take him, headed up by Yehudah Iskariot, Judah's Iskariot, who betrayed him with a kiss, and they have taken Jesus the Messiah away from the garden of Gatshmanim. To remind you that this interesting garden called Gan Gatshmanim, the garden of Gethsemanim, is this garden where its name is teaching us a lesson. There, in that garden, there was a press, the pressing olive, and the olives pressed became oil.
And the oil was provided for the needs there of the people. Well, there is no coincidence that the name Gatshmanim and the Messiah, Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus the Messiah was there because he was under the pressure in anticipation of being captured and ultimately to be taken to the shameful cross. And you remember what we have read concerning this Gatshmanim, where Jesus the Messiah said to Peter, "Put up thy sword into the sheath, the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?" And you remember in other Gatshmanim, such as Matthew and Mark and Luke, we do read of what the Lord in prayer prayed to the Father in the very same garden Gatshmanim.
There he anticipated his death for the sin of this world. And you remember what we read in other Gospels concerning the prayer of the Lord in that garden where he said, "Father, Abba, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me." This is Luke chapter 22 and verse 42. And he continued, "Nevertheless, not my will but thine be done." You remember we did read in Luke chapter 22 and verse 44 that his sweat was as if it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground in anticipation, knowing that he will be captured, knowing that he will give himself, knowing that he will go to the shameful cross, knowing that he will ultimately pay for the sin of this world.
After all, he is that Mashiach, the promised Mashiach who would come to pay for the sin of this world to redeem his people. How wonderful it is to see how here in this garden in John chapter 18, he did say to those who came to capture him. He said to them, "If ye seek me, let these go their way." What an amazing, he protecting Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, protecting his disciples by saying, "I am he, I am he, I have told you that I am he, if therefore ye seek me, let these go their way." And that's the reason, my dear brothers and sisters and dear friends, this is the reason why the Lord Jesus the Messiah came down to this world.
So the believer on him, the sinner who would trust in him will be let go free that the judgment that the believer supposed to receive because of his or her sin would fall upon the Messiah, Jesus himself. Well, we have covered the first 14 verses and I would like to continue in this ministry meeting to read from verse 15 to verse 27. And there we don't only learn about the obedience of the Lord as we have seen in the first 14 verses, but in verses 15 to 27 we do learn of the denial of Shimon Petos who deny his Messiah, his Lord, three times. And this shows us how we cannot trust our own sinful nature because we on our own, unless the Lord help us, we will not be able to stand firm even in a time of testing.
Only the Lord is the one that gives the needed grace to faithfully confess his name and not deny his person. And so we read in verse 15 of John chapter 18. And Simon Peter followed Jesus. And so did another disciple. That disciple was known unto the high priest. And went in with Yeshua into the palace of the high priest. But Peter stood at the door without. Then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter. Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Are not thou also one of this man's disciples?
He saith, I am not. And the servants and officers stood there who had made a fire of calls. For it was cold. And they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them and warmed himself. The high priest then asked Yeshua of his disciples and of his doctrine. Jesus answered him, I speak openly to the world. I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple. Whither the Jews always resort. And in secret have I said nothing. Why askest thou me? Asked them which heard me. What I have said unto them. Behold, they know what I said. And when he had thus spoken. One of the officers which stood by struck Yeshua with the palm of his hand saying, Thou the high priest saw.
Thou the high priest saw. Jesus answered him. If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil. But if well, why smitest thou me? Now Annas had sent him bound unto Caiaphas, the high priest. And Simon Peter stood and warned himself. They said therefore unto him. They said therefore unto him, Are not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it and said, I am not. One of the servants of the high priest being his kinsman, whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? Peter then denied again, and immediately the cook crew. And I will stop here, beloved brothers and sisters, with verse 27 of John chapter 18.
Well, while we did see the faithfulness and the obedience of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah in the first 14 verses of John chapter 18. Here in this next portion, verses 15 to 27, we see how failing we are by nature. And how the best of us, we might say. A person like Shimon Petros, who loved the Lord Yeshua the Messiah. How he, in a time such as this, a time of testing, he denied his Mashiach three times. Three times. That's why the apostle Paul could say that we have no confidence in the flesh. The flesh profiteth nothing. We learn this as we live our life here, as we follow the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, that this all sin nature of ours is so sinful and selfish, that even in a testing time, we find ourselves falling and not following Yeshua the Messiah.
Well, you notice that, that once Yeshua, Jesus was taken in John 18 and verse 13 and 14, we find that Kayafah was the one which gave counsel to the Jewish leaders that it was expedient that one man should die for the people. We mentioned that already in our previous message together, that this was a prophecy that he gave, Kayafah, that God had allowed him to give. He was speaking the truth concerning the fact that now they were willing that one person, namely Jesus, the Messiah, will die for the nation. And while it was true that the Messiah, Jesus died for the nation, as we have read it in Isaiah chapter 53 for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
Yet, Kayafah did not mean it in Isaiah. Yet, Kayafah did not mean it in that way. He was simply speaking, being used by God, because he himself was just about to hand over Yeshua the Messiah to Pilate, that ultimately Pilate condemned him to death. And so in verse 15 now of our chapter, John chapter 18, Peter and other disciples, which we know is Yohanan, that is John, they followed the Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Because here we read in John 18, 12, then the Jews, this is the Jewish leaders, took Jesus and bound him. They led him to Hanan, to Annas. First of all, that was, he was the father-in-law of Kayafah, which was the high priest at that same year.
Then Kayafah now, we find out, was he the one that gave this prophecy, spoke to the council, to the Sanhedrin. And so we read that now Simon Peter, verse 15, followed Jesus, followed Yeshua, and so did another disciples. That disciple was known unto the high priest and went in with Yeshua into the palace of the high priest. Interesting that this expression concerning that disciple is John the apostle himself, who said of himself many times that he was the disciple whom Yeshua loved. In John chapter 21, we read in verse 24, This is the disciple which testifies of these things and wrote these things. And we know that this testimony is true.
That disciple who was loved by the Lord, this is Yohanan, John. He also loved the Lord, who he said in the epistle, we love him because he first loved us. But he did not mention his name in his very gospel that he was used by the Spirit of God to pen down. But what he did say of himself oftentimes that he was the disciple whom Jesus, whom Yeshua loved. And so apparently, beloved brothers and sisters, he, this is John, that disciple, along with Peter, Shimon Petrov, they followed Jesus as he was captured in the garden of Gatshmanim, Gatshmanim, and they followed him into the palace of the high priest.
Apparently, according to verse 15, we learn that the disciple, this is Yohanan, John, he was known unto the high priest, and he went in with Yeshua into the palace of the high priest. Perhaps a relative there. And because they remember it is happening in the land of Israel among the Jewish community, there was a relationship between people among the people of Israel. And therefore, we find out that in this palace, John, Yohanan was known by the high priest and those who were there in the palace. So, we learn that Peter did not get in, but John, Yohanan, have gotten in to the palace. Well, to remind you that Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, warned Peter already earlier when he was in the upper room that he will ultimately denied Jesus, the Messiah, to remind you that in John chapter 13, we have read when the disciples were in the upper room sitting together celebrating Pesach, the Passover.
And then Yeshua introduced the remembrance of himself by giving the disciples the matzah, the unleavened bread, and saying, "This is my body which will be given for you." And then he gave them the cup. And he said that this cup represents the blood of the new covenant which is shed for you. And there in the upper room, he washed also the feet of the disciples. And when he arrived to Peter to wash his feet, you remember what happened. Simon Peter said unto him that he didn't want his feet to be washed. And Yeshua said to him, "If I don't wash your feet, you have not part with me." Teaching him there is a need to have our feet washed ongoing for, not now for salvation, but for ongoing cleansing as we walk here in this world.
So that's why he used the word, "You do not have part with me." He didn't use the word, "You do not have part in me." Because Peter was a believer in Yeshua the Messiah. But by washing the feet, by the washing of the water, by the word of God, there is an ongoing cleansing in a world in which we live in because our feet getting so dirty ongoingly. And that's why Peter had to learn this lesson. But then a bit later on, at the end of John chapter 13, when Jesus the Messiah said that now is the Son of Man glorified, and God is glorified in him, and he's just about to tell them that he's leaving, he's departing back to the Father.
Simon Peter said unto him, "Lord, whither you go? Where are you going?" And Yeshua answered and he said, "Whither I go, thou canst follow me now, but you will follow me afterward." Then Peter said unto him, "Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake." And here Peter did not know himself, did not know himself, like we all have to say. We do not know ourselves. We think of the verse that David said, "Search me, O Lord, and know my heart. Try me and know my thought, and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in a way everlasting." David himself did not know his own heart as Peter did not know his own heart, as you and I do not know our own hearts.
But God knows, the Messiah Yeshua, Jesus knows, he knows our hearts. That's why Jesus, the Messiah, answered Peter in John 13, verse 38, "Will thou lay down thy life for my sake? Verily I say unto thee, the cock, the rooster, shall not crow till you have denied me three times." John 13, verse 38, "And because the Lord knew the hearts of Peter, of John, your heart, my heart, the heart of the people of Israel in the days in which he was here on earth, he knows the hearts of every person in this world. He knows our hearts, and he said clearly to Shimon Petrus, "Verily, verily I say unto you, the rooster, the cock, shall not crow till you have denied me three times." And sure enough, beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends, here we see the denial Peter denied Yeshua the Messiah is found here in John chapter 18, verses 15 to 27.
And so, while John, verse 15, could get into the palace, because that disciple, namely John, was known unto the high priest, Peter was not known, and therefore Peter stayed without. According to verse 16, we read, "But Peter stood at the door without, then went out that other disciple, which was known unto the high priest, and he spake unto her that kept the door, and brought in Peter." Apparently, "Apparently, beloved brothers and sisters, we find out that John, Yohanan, who knew some there inside the palace of the high priest, that is Kayafa, and he spoke a word to the woman who kept the door, told her that he received permission from the high priest, the helpers, in order to allow Peter to come in.
And therefore, we read that Peter was brought in, according to verse 16." Interesting. Just wanted to remind us all about John was also, he followed Yeshua, but he was not the one that had much self-confidence as Peter. We read of this John, the apostle, Yohanan, in Hebrew, in chapter 13, in verse 23, of the very same Gospel of John. We read that he, verse 23, there was, now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus, whom Yeshua loved. Notice, he was leaning close to the bosom of the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, in the Feast of Pesach. It is customary, up till today, for our Jewish people, at the Passover, at Pesach, to lean to one side, one upon another, as a sign of freedom and liberty, after being in bondage in the land of Egypt.
And you notice that the apostle, this is Yohanan, he leaned on Yeshua's bosom. He knew his heart. He was listening to his word. He was close to him. He was different in this way than Simon Peter. And he doesn't even mention his name. He said, the disciple whom Yeshua loved. Not the disciple whom John loved, or the Lord whom John loved, the Messiah whom John loved. No, but the disciple whom Jesus loved. In chapter 19, we will read of it again in verse 26. Once again, we read, When Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciple standing by whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold, thy son.
So, it is mentioned in the Gospel of John, this expression, HaTalmid asher Yeshua Ahav, the disciple whom Yeshua loved. It is mentioned more than once, speaking of the apostle John. And therefore, now we find that in chapter 18, John was known. John went in, came out, and he allowed Peter to come in, and he brought Peter in. In verse 17, we find out of the first denial of the Lord by Simon Peter. We read in verse 17, Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? And notice what Peter said. And he said, I am not. I am not.
I am not. He did not want anyone to know that he was the Talmid, the follower of Yeshua the Messiah. He was really fulfilling the word of the Lord to him at the upper room in Yerushalayim. At the feast of Pesach, Passover. Verily, verily, I said to thee, The cock shall not crow till you has denied me thrice. This is the first time that Simon Peter denied the Lord. And so, we realized that what I am not, I am not, is a clear statement that he is not a follower of Yeshua. He didn't want anyone to know that he was a follower of Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah.
And so, we continue on. Beloved brothers and sisters, In verses 18, We find out, And the servants and officers stood there, Who had made a fire of calls, For it was called, And they warmed themselves. And Peter, notice, He stood with them. And he warmed himself. There are many lessons that we can learn here, Beloved brothers and sisters. You see, The Lord was alone. The Lord was indeed, Yeshua, Jesus, was alone. And Peter, He followed him. But we learn from him, That he was not, He was following him, While the Lord was there standing before the Sanhedrin, Standing before Kayafas, And the religious leaders of the day.
That the officers and the servants stood outside, And they made themselves fire of calls, Because it was cold. And they warmed themselves. And Peter, Notice that expression. He stood with them. And he warned himself. Now to remind you, These servants, These officers, These officers, Are those who came to take Jesus, To take Yeshua, An innocent man, And capture him, And take him to be condemned. And they now, Warming themselves around the fire, And Peter is standing with them. With them, They are warming himself, Right next to them. You know, It reminds us, Of the passage, In the book of Psalm, If you remember, What God said to Israel, Teaching the people of Israel, The importance of standing, And sitting, Walking close to him.
Do you remember, What we do read, In Psalm 1, Blessed is the man, That walketh not, In the counsel of the ungodly, No, Notice that, Nor standeth, In the way of sinners, Nor sitteth, In the seat of the scornful, But his delight, Is in the law of the Lord, And in his law, Doth he meditate day and night, And he shall be like a tree, Planted by the river of water, That bringeth forth his fruit, In his season, His leaf also shall not wither, And whatsoever he doeth, Shall prosper. That was the encouragement, Of the Lord, To the people of Israel, Not to walk, In the counsel of the ungodly, Not to stand, In the way of sinners, Not to sit, In the seat of the scornful, But to have delight, In the Lord, And in his Torah, In his law, In his word.
And here we see, In a time, Such as this, Peter, Is warming himself, By the fire, That was made, By those, That oppose Yeshua, And he stood, With them, And warming, Himself. This is a sad statement, A sad action, But we learn from this, That fear, That rises up, Even when one loves the Lord, And seeks to follow the Lord, And seeks to learn more of the Lord, One can never trust himself, One can never have self-confidence, To say, I will not deny you, Though everyone will deny you, I will not, I will follow you, Where you would want me to follow. Well, You remember what the Lord taught also, The apostle Shaul Paul, When he said to him, When he said to him, That my grace, Is sufficient for you, He allowed Paul, To have this thorn, In the flesh, That will cause him, Not to depend, Upon himself, But to depend upon, Yeshua, Jesus, The Messiah, Himself.
And that's why Paul, Could say, Therefore I take pleasure, In infirmities, In reproaches, In necessity, In persecution, In distresses, For the Messiah's sake, For when I am weak, Then I am strong. The Lord promised him, My grace is sufficient for thee, For my strength is made perfect in weakness. And here, When Peter had this self-confidence, As he mentioned to Yeshua, At the end of chapter 13, In the upper room, He made his promise, And he said to him, I will lay down my life for thy sake. Yeshua had to tell him, Peter, You do not know yourself. I can tell you, And I know what you will do, That the cock shall not crow, Till you will deny me three times.
And sure enough, Beloved brothers and sisters, And dear friends, We find his first denial is mentioned, Here in John 18, And verse 17. And now, While Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, Is inside there, Standing before the high priest, And the Sanhedrin, Peter is standing without, And he warming himself, With the fire that was made, By those who were the one, Who took Yeshua the Messiah, And brought him to the, To the high priest. And so, We notice once again, As we continue, In verse 19, To verse 24, Now, Jesus the Messiah, Is standing, Before, Kayafas, The high priest. And notice these beloved, Brothers and sisters, The high priest, Verse 19, Then asked Jesus, Of his disciples, And of his doctrine.
So here he is asking, Yeshua, Yeshua, Who are those who follow you? Number one, And of course two of them, Was right there, John Yohanan, And Peter, And of course Peter, Denied him the first time already. Secondly, About his doctrine, What are you teaching? Now of course, They knew very well, The teaching, That Yeshua was teaching. Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah, Claimed to be, The fact that he was, That promised Messiah. He was born into, Into this world, Through the virgin Miriam. He came, In exact way, That God prescribed, In the Hebrew scripture. He was born, To the, To the virgin Miriam. He was born, In the city of Bethlehem.
He was, Living in, Natseret. He was a Nazarene. And he was the one, That came, To give himself, A ransom for many. He was the one, That will be, Despised, And rejected of men. But yet, He was that, Eternal one. Eternal God, The son, Who took union, Humanity, With his divine nature. Now of course, Beloved brothers and sisters, And dear friends, It was, The first, And the only time, In human history, When God, In the person of the son, Took union, Human nature, And became like us. According to John one, And verse 14, And the word became flesh, And dwelt among us, And we beheld his glory, The glories of the only begotten, Of the father, Full of grace and truth.
That never happened before, It will never happen again. So, It was a dilemma, For the nation of Israel. And it will be dilemma, Throughout the history, Of the human race. How is it possible, That God, Enter, Into this world, In the person of the son, Took union, The human nature, And the reason for that, Is because, The only way for salvation, For humanity, Is when, God, As men, In his humanity, Will pay for the sin, Of this world. He will become, The lamb of God. He will be penalized, For our sins. There is no other solution, There is no other solution, For this. There is no other way, Whereby we can receive, Forgiveness, For our sins.
All the sacrifices, Of all only, Aton, A kapara, They cover, Temporarily, Our sins. But God, The son, Enter into this world, As men, Not only, To cover sin, But to take, Away, The sin, Of this world, That whoever, Will believe on him, Shall not perish, But have everlasting life. So, Imagine, The high priest, Asking Yeshua, About his disciples, Those, Talmidim, The learners, The disciples, That followed him, But also, Of his doctrine. Notice in verse 20, In verse 21, Yeshua is responding, And he is telling, To the high priest, He says, I speak openly, To the world, And of course, The world, Is a Jewish world, In that day, In the land of Israel.
I ever taught, In the synagogue, Beit HaKneset. And then, And in the temple, Beit HaMikdash, In Jerusalem, And in Nazaret, And elsewhere. Whither, The Jewish people, Always resort, The Jewish people, Are always, Either in the, Beit HaMikdash, In the temple, In Jerusalem, Or, In their locality, In Beit HaKneset, In the synagogue, That's in their locality. And in secret, Have I said nothing? Why do you ask me? Ask them, Which heard me, What I have said unto them. Behold, They know what I said. Yeshua, Is saying to the high priest, Of Israel. And you notice, What we read elsewhere. For example, In Matthew chapter 4, When Yeshua said, I spoke openly, In the Beit HaKneset, By Tei HaKneset, In the synagogue.
We read, In Matthew chapter 4, In verse 23, That Yeshua went, To the synagogue. In the synagogue, We read, And Jesus went, About all Galilee, Teaching in their, Senagogues, Plural, But Tei HaKneset. And he preached, What did he preach? The gospel of the kingdom. And he was healing, All manner of sicknesses, And all manner of diseases, Among the people. The gospel of the kingdom, The kingdom, Specifically applied, To the, News concerning, The coming kingdom. The promised, Messianic kingdom, That God promised, To the people of Israel. When Israel, Did not accept, Yeshua the Messiah, The kingdom, Had been postponed. And we live today, In the days, Of the church age, Which was, Known, By God.
Planned, By God. But was not known, To the children of men, Until the Lord revealed, Through the apostles, Of the, Of the, Of the new testament, Of this era. And so, He was speaking, Concerning, The coming, Kingdom of God. The Malchut HaElohim. The Messiah is coming. The Messiah is coming. He will establish, The kingdom. The kingdom. Even the disciples, After his resurrection, Did not know, Clearly, Of the age, Of the church age, In which you and I, Live in today. Because they asked the Lord, After his resurrection, In Acts chapter 1, Will you now, Restore the kingdom, To Israel? Acts chapter 1. Yeshua said to them, It is not for you, He said to them, To know the time, Or the season, Which is kept in the hands of the Father.
But you will receive power from on high. And you will be my witnesses. Both in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, And unto the uttermost parts of the earth. In other words, He said to them, It's not for them to know the time. He didn't tell them, That the kingdom will not come. Because he was preaching, The kingdom, Already, In his public ministry. The kingdom will come. The gospel of the kingdom. He was healing, All manner of sicknesses. He was teaching, Yeshua taught, Concerning, Who he is, And why did he come to this world. It is fascinating. A little bit later, In Matthew chapter 9, And verse 35, And verse 35, We also read, Concerning the Lord, Being in the synagogues.
In chapter 9 of Matthew, Verse 35, Jesus went about all the cities and villages, Teaching in their synagogue, And preaching the gospel of the kingdom, And healing every sickness, And every disease among the people. Again and again, Yeshua spoke publicly. Everybody knew, What he claimed, What he taught, Specifically, That he was the Messiah, And the kingdom is approaching, And that Israel as a nation, Need to turn to him. But you notice, He did not only say, That he taught in the synagogue, Which he did, As we read in Matthew 4, And Matthew 9, But also, Beloved brothers and sisters, He mentioned, And in the temple, The temple is Beit HaMikdash, In the city of Jerusalem, The center, Where God placed his name, Where the sacrifices were offered, And you notice what we read, In Matthew chapter 21, Verse 12, We read, In verse 12, And Yeshua went into the temple of God, And he cast out all them that sold, And bought in the temple, And overthrew the tables, Of the money changers, And the seats of them that sold dove, And he said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer.
But, As it says here, But ye have made it a den of thieves. And the blind and the lame came unto him, In the temple Beit HaMikdash, And he healed them. And when the chief priest and the scribe, Saw the wonderful thing that he did, And the children crying in the temple, Beit HaMikdash, And saying, Hoshana to the son of David, Leben David, They were so displeased. And said unto him, Hearest thou what these say? Yeshua says unto them, Have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou hast perfected praise? And he left them, And he went out of the city, This is the city of Jerusalem, Out of the temple, Into Beit Oni.
And he lodged there. He clearly, Yeshua the Messiah clearly, Shared who he was, And his doctrine everywhere. And that's why when the high priest said to him, Tell us of your disciples, And of his doctrine, Of your doctrine, Yeshua said to him, I speak openly to the world. I ever taught in the synagogues, And in the temple, Whither the Jewish people always resort. And in secret, And in secret have I said nothing. Why ask thou me? Ask them which heard me, What I have said unto them, Behold, they know what I said. What the Lord Jesus the Messiah claimed to be, Is clear. They claim to come to this world, For the purpose of providing salvation.
Yeshua clearly said, I and the Father are one. John chapter 10, And verse 30, Claiming to be divine, Equal with God the Father, But yet enter to this world, Through the virgin Miriam, In order to become a man, That will pay for the sin of this world. Well notice this, Beloved brothers and sisters, As we continue on in John chapter 18, And in verse 22, And when he had spoken thus, One of the officers, Listen to this, Which stood by struck Yeshua, With the palm of his hand, Saying, Answerest thou the high priest so? In other words, One of them, There was an officer, Hit the Lord in his face.
Imagine, Beloved brothers and sisters, The officers have done so, And so, Without really concern, Before whom he stand. And he, Just stroke the Lord, Jesus the Messiah, Before everyone there, And asking him, Are you answering this way, To the high priest? Now notice, Now notice, Beloved brothers and sisters, Yeshua answered in a simple way. He only said, Ask everyone. He, In humility, Is said to the high priest of the day, That he can ask everyone, Because he spoke openly. Everybody knows what Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah was teaching, When he was here upon the face of this earth. But that officer, That struck him, Thought that he is doing a favor, To the high priest.
And so we read, Of the answer, Of the Lord. The Lord Jesus the Messiah, Said, If I have spoken evil, Bear witness of the evil, But if well, Why do you smite? I didn't speak anything evil, I haven't done anything wrong, I spoke clearly, Why do you smite me, If I didn't do anything wrong? Not remind us, Later on, In the history of the apostle, In the book of Acts, In chapter 23, There was a similar incident here, In the life of Shaul Paul. And if you remember, In Acts chapter 23, In the earlier verses of this chapter, We read, Paul earnestly beholding the council, Paul is also, Shaul Paul standing before the council, Later on in his life, After he was captured, In Jerusalem, When he came to keep the feast.
And we find that, He said, Men and brethren, I have lived, In all good conscience, Before God, Until this day. In the high priest, And the high priest, Hananiah, Commended them, That stood by him, To smite him, On a mouth. In other words, The high priest, Of the time of Shaul Paul, Commended, That Paul will be smitten. Because Paul said, That he lived in a good conscience, To remind you, That Shaul Paul was a parush, Parush, He was a Pharisee, He was a, A man, That sought to submit, To the God of Israel, And lived, As it says here, Of good conscience, Before God, Until this day.
So when the person, That the high priest, Asked him, To smite him, When he did so, Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, Thou white wall, For sitest thou, To judge me, After the law, And you command me, To be smitten, Contrary to the law, And they that stood by, Said, Revile thou, God's high priest, Then said Paul, I did not know, Brethren, That he was the high priest, For it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil, Of the rulers of thy people, Quoting Exodus chapter 22. So you can see that Paul, Shaul, Somehow, Perhaps because of his eyesight, Did not understand, That it was the high priest, And therefore he said to him, Thou white wall, You sit here to judge me, After the law, And you command me, To be smitten, Contrary to the law, Then Paul apologized, In verse 5, Of Acts chapter 23, But you notice, With respect to the Lord, Yeshua, Did not say a word, Notice, But when he had thus spoken, One of the officers, Which stood by, Struck Jesus, With the palm of his hand, Saying, Answerest thou the high priest, This way?
Yeshua said, If I have spoken evil, Bear witness of that evil, But if well, Why smitest thou me?
And so, Hanan, Now notice that, Hanan, Had sent him bound, Unto Kayafah, The high priest, And here we find out, That the Lord is really, Standing there before both, First of all, Hanan, And then, Kayafah, Who was there, The high priest of that day, And so, Simon Peter now, Verse 25 on, To verse 27, In these, Last verses, Of this ministry meeting, We find out now, In verse 25, 26, And 27, How, The Lord, Knowledge, Concerning the denial, Of himself, By Simon Peter, You notice here, His word, Has been fulfilled, In the life, Of Simon Peter, During that time, When he was, In that court, Of the high priest, We read, In verse 25, Peter,
Second denial, Again, Simon Peter stood, And he warned himself, And they said therefore, They said to him, Are not thou, Also one of his disciples, And here Peter, The second time, He denied, And he said, I am not, I am not, Then we continue, And we read here, The next two verses, One of the servants, Of the high priest, Being his kinsman, Whose ear Peter cut off, Notice that, He said, This is Malkus, Of whom we read earlier, That his, Ear was cut off, By Peter, So, This servant, Of the high priest, Being a kinsman, Whose ear Peter cut off, He said, And remember, That Peter cut it off, The Lord have healed this man's
ear, He said, In verse 26, Did not I see thee, In the garden with him, Again, The reference, Is the garden, Of Gethsemane, And in that garden, It's night time, And Peter was the one, Who cut his ear, Yeshua was the one, Who restored, His ear, And then we find out, That he, Is now saying, Did not I see you, In the garden with him, And again, We read, That Peter denied, He denied again, And immediately, The cock, Crew, As the Lord, Have mentioned to Peter, At the end, Of chapter 13, Verily, Verily, I say unto thee, The cock shall not crow, Till thou hast denied me, Three times, In other words, It come now,
To the earlier part, Of the morning, And Peter now, Deny Yeshua, Three times, And all of a sudden, Immediately, The rooster crew, The morning had arrived, That was a night, Situation, Their beloved, Brothers and sisters, In which, The Lord was there, Before the Sanhedrin, When they were accusing him, And seeking to find fault, In him, It is interesting, That in the gospel, Of Matthew, We have another, Element of lessons, That we can learn, In connection with, Shimon Petos, And the Lord himself, In Matthew chapter 26, Verse 69 to 75, We learn a few more things, Concerning Peter, In verse 70, We read that he denied, That was the first time, In verse 72, We read,
And again he denied, With an oath, I do not know this man, Here in Matthew, We get, The spirit of God, Gives us additional information, That Peter, Not only that he just denied, But he made an oath, I do not know this man, But then notice, When it comes to, The third time, In verse 74, We read, That Peter began, To curse, And to swear, Saying, I know not this man, And immediately, The cock crew, And you notice how, This 26th chapter, Of the gospel, Of Matthew, Add, In verse 75, Something, That is very important, To bear in mind, Because it says, In verse 75, And Peter remembered, The word of Jesus, The word of
Yeshua, Which saith unto him, Before the cock crow, Thou shalt deny me, Three times, And look what happened to Peter, Because immediately, At the end, Of Matthew chapter 26, At the end of the verse, Verse 75, He went out, And he wept, Bitterly, Bitterly, He wept bitterly, Peter wept, Knowing now, That he denied, His Lord, The Messiah, Yeshua himself, Knowing that he failed, His Lord, Knowing that he had, Self confidence, Thought that he will do everything, For the Lord, He will die, For Yeshua the Messiah, And sure enough, Peter realized, It's dawn on him, The cock crew, The rooster, The morning of arrive, And Peter denied, His master, Three times, You know, Brothers and sisters,
This is so, So sad, Because, We get, The complete information, As we also turn, To Luke chapter, 22, There we have, Another, Aspect, Of the whole, Circumstance, That happened, In the courtyard, In the house, Of the high priest, Of Israel, It says there, In Luke chapter, 22, In, After the cock crew, Verse 60, Then in verse 61, And 62, Now, In Luke chapter 22, And the Lord turned, And he looked upon Peter, And Peter remembered, The word of the Lord, How he had said unto him, Before the cock crew, You will deny me three times, In other words, The eyes of the Lord, Were locked upon Peter, And Peter saw the eye, Of his master,
His master, Who is now about, To be beaten soon, And taken to the cross, And to die, And the Lord looked at Peter, We can be confident, That this, Look of the Lord, Was a look of love, It's not of, A look of condemnation, But a look of care, And love for Peter, Because Peter didn't know himself, And the Lord of glory, The Messiah Yeshua, Knows everything about Peter, Everything about John, Everything about you, And I, Everything about Kayafas, And Hanan, And everything about the officers, Anything about the Roman soldiers, And Pilatos, He knows all things, He knows our hearts, He knows our hearts, And Yeshua, The Lord, Turned, And looked upon Peter, And then
Peter, Remember, The word, Of the Lord, How he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, You will deny me, Three times, And then Peter, Went out, And he wept, Bitterly, Both, Matthew, 26, 75, Says he wept, Bitterly, And Luke, 22, Verse 62, Said, That he wept, Bitterly, He went out, Realizing, The fact, That he denied, His Lord, Three times, And the gracious eye, Of the Lord, The gracious look, Of the Lord, At him, Convicted him, And showed him, His failure, And he was so broken, Beloved, Brothers and sisters, And dear friends, That he needed, The Lord Jesus, The Messiah, To publicly restore him, And use him for ministry, To serve among the, A circumcision,
To be the apostle, Of the, Circumcision, As Paul, Was the apostle, To the uncircumcision, To be a servant, For the nation, Of Israel, Concerning Yeshua, The Messiah, And, Here, The look of love, The look of care, That Yeshua, Gave to Shimon, Petos, Cause him, To weep, Bitterly, And to go out, There, And, And be convicted, And this is an amazing lesson, For us all, Beloved brothers and sisters, As we close, This ministry meeting, Today, We, Can realize, Afresh, That we cannot, Trust ourselves, And all the promises, That we make, To the Lord, Has to be, Done, With the fact, That we, We will definitely need, To tell him, Lord, I love you, I want to
live for you, I believe on you, But help my unbelief, I don't want to do anything, With the strength, Of my nature, I want to do, Everything, With the strength, Of the spirit of God, Who will lead me, And who will guide me, And Lord, Help us, To follow you, Trusting you, Not in ourselves, And the Lord, Will surely help, Those, That will follow him, We will need, To be, As Paul, Was told, By the Lord, In 2nd Corinthians, Where the Lord, Told him, Clearly, When Paul wanted, That the Lord, Will remove from him, Those hindrances, And he said, The Lord, Said to him, My grace, Is sufficient, For thee, Paul, For my strength, Is
made perfect, In weakness, Therefore, Paul said, Most gladly, Therefore, Will I rather glory, In my infirmities, That the power, Of the Mashiach, The power, Of Christ, The power, Of Messiah, May rest, Upon, Me.
And so, How wonderful, Beloved brothers, And sisters, To learn, From our loving Lord, As we study together, The word, Of God. Well, Until the next time, God bless you, My dear friend, And I will say to you, Shalom, Shalom.
