Shalom dear brothers and sisters, God bless you. We would like you to please open your Bibles, to the Gospel of John, and to the 16th chapter where we are for this ministry meeting, and we continue today to present before us all the second half of John chapter 16, beginning with verse 16 to the end of the chapter. Please follow me as I'm reading John 16, 16 to 33. The Lord Yeshua, the Messiah, is continuing to speak to His sorrowing disciples in the upper room in the city of Yerushalayim as He's instructing them of His departure through the cross back to glory, to heaven, to the Father's house where He came from.

And as his disciples were sorrowing, he knew that he continued to minister to them, to speak to them about the coming of the Ruach HaKodesh, the Holy Spirit of God, and the fact that he will go and, as we have already learned from this chapter, that he will prepare a place for them in heaven, in the Father's house. And so in verse 16 of chapter 16, Yeshua continued and he's saying, A little while, and ye shall not see me. And again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father. Then said some of his disciples among themselves, What is this, that he saith unto us, A little while, and ye shall not see me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me, and because I go to the Father?

They said, Therefore, what is this, that he saith, A little while? We cannot tell what he saith. Now, Yeshua knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do you inquire among yourself of that I said a little while, and ye shall not see me, and again a little while, and ye shall see me? Verily, verily, I said unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice, And ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman, when she is in travail, hath sorrow, because her hour is come. But as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more the anguish.

For joy that a man is born into the world, and ye now, therefore, have sorrow, but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you. And in that day ye shall ask me nothing, verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you. Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name, ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. these things have I spoken unto you in Proverbs but the time cometh when I shall no more speak unto you in Proverbs but I shall show you plainly of the Father at that day ye shall ask in my name and I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you for the father himself loveth you because ye have loved me and have believed that I came out from God I came forth from the father and I am come into the world again I leave the world and go to the father his disciples said unto him lo now speakest thou plainly and speakest no proverb.

Now are we sure that thou knowest all things and needest not that any man should ask thee. By this we believe that thou camest forth from God. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? Behold the hour cometh. Ye is now come that ye shall be scattered Every man to his own And shall leave me alone And yet I am not alone Because the Father is with me These things I have spoken unto you That in me ye might have peace Shalom In a world ye shall have tribulation But be of good cheer i have overcome the world you see beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends you see this passage in which we have entered into this passage in john 16 verses 16 to 33 is the continuation of the deliberation of our lord yeshua jesus the messiah with his disciples in the upper room in the city of Yerushalayim where they have concluded to keep, to celebrate the Feast of Pesach that is Passover, the Lord Yeshua the Messiah introduced the remembrance of himself letting the disciples know he will go through the shameful cross he will give his body, he will shed his blood And he told them that this is what's going to happen to you when I will depart from this place.

You will experience challenges and persecution and tribulation. But he's encouraging the disciples to tell them that the Holy Spirit of God will come.

this comforter God the Holy Spirit to come to minister to them and to help them as they are here on earth while he has returned and will return to the father and so in chapter 14 15 and 16 Yeshua the Messiah spoke once and again concerning the comforter the paracletos the one that will come to their aid namely the person of the holy spirit of god now even though he promised them to send the holy spirit of god as he have already mentioned in chapter 14 and chapter 15 and chapter 16 now in the second half of chapter 16 yeshua is encouraging or i would say even continuing to encourage his sorrowing disciples seeking to

provide for them joy you notice that it all began in chapter 14 and verse 1 let not your heart be troubled you see their hearts were troubled and that's why Yeshua the Messiah is seeking to encourage them while he is still with them in verse 27 of chapter 14 again let not your heart be troubled neither let it be afraid so he's once and again encouraging them that he is assuring them that he will meet their need he wanted them to rejoice he wanted them to be assured that a comforter the paracletos the holy spirit of god will come he said in verse 16 of chapter 14 i will pray the father and he will

give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever even the spirit of truth even ruach haemet so yeshua is speaking with his disciples in chapter 13 chapter 14 chapter 15 chapter 16 in this upper room discourse by the time chapter 14 was before us we have seen that at the end of these chapter 14 and 15 yeshua the messiah is has told his disciples as they're moving along from the upper room on the way towards the garden of gethsemane yeshua the messiah jesus the messiah is continuing to instruct them concerning the Perakletos.

We learn that at the end of chapter 15 once again, but when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth which proceeds from the Father, he shall testify of me.

Then chapter 16, when he continued to speak about the Comforter, the Holy Spirit of God, verse 7, nevertheless I tell you John 16 verse 7 it is expedient for you that I go away for if I go not away the comforter verse 7 of John chapter 17 and verse 7 that comforter here is the one in Hebrew we call it hamelitz the perakletos the one that will come alongside to aid and so he says for if i go not away the comforter will not come unto you but if i depart i will send him unto you and so he seeks to encourage the disciples and so in the first 15 verses of chapter 16 we

which we have already covered beloved brothers and sisters there in the first 15 verses of chapter 16 yeshua is instructing his disciple and telling them once again concerning the importance of his departure otherwise the person of ruach ha-kodesh the person of the holy spirit of god will not come so while the disciples were instructed in the upper room you can just imagine the limitation of their understanding and the fact that they would now be without him have been very very moving in their hearts and therefore now in the second half of John chapter 16 verses 16 to 33 again the Lord is preparing the disciples for his death upon the tree for his death upon

that shameful Roman cross and so you will notice that in verses 16 to 22 he wanted them to understand an important principle the principle is that god is able to turn sorrow into joy god is able to bring joy into their lives in the midst of sorrows that reminds us doesn't it of the many passages in the history of israel even in the days of esther when the jewish people were under the sentence of death by haman by haman that wicked man and how god have turned the table and brought joy to the people of israel and ultimately Haman was killed and the Jewish people were preserved by God in a supernatural way and so

we read in Esther chapter 9 verse 22 as the day wherein the Jews rested from their enemies and a month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy and from mourning into a good day.

God is able to turn things around and provide joy in the midst of a time of sorrows and turn away the sorrows into joy.

It reminds us of the verses in Isaiah chapter 61 speaking about the future of Israel where we read in the first few verses that the purpose of the coming of the Lord to appoint them, them that mourn in Zion and to give unto them beauty for ashes oil of joy for mourning the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness that they might be called trees of righteousness the planting of the Lord that he might be glorified God is able beloved brothers and sisters to turn things from sorrow to joy and this is exactly what we find out in john 16 what yeshua is seeking to explain here to his disciples in fact in isaiah

61 and verse 10 we read i will greatly rejoice in the lord my soul shall be joyful in my god for he has closed me with the garment of salvation he has covered me with a robe of righteousness as a bridegroom decketh himself with garment and as a bride adorn herself with her jewels God is able to turn sorrow into joy and notice this as we are learning here in verses 16 to verse 22 the important that the Lord is seeking to teach the disciples you notice how many times the word joy is mentioned here in this chapter 16 in fact in verse 20 we read shall be turned into joy in verse 21 at

the end and he said she remembers no more the anguish for joy that the man is born into the world verse 22 rejoice and your joy no man taketh from you verse 23 and in that day ye shall ask me nothing he said and he continued in verse 24 he said and ye shall receive that your joy may be full in other words once and again the lord jesus the messiah is speaking about joy to the group of the disciples in the upper room that are sad because he's just about to go to the cross and To return to God the Father via his death on the tree.

And so you notice that in verse 16, Yeshua is saying to the disciples, A little while, and ye shall not see me. And again, a little while, and ye shall see me because I go to the Father. You notice that? This little while that Yeshua is speaking about here in John chapter 16 and verse 16 is very interesting because since the Lord Jesus the Messiah died, this little while is already some 2,000 years long.

amazing when you really think about it and really that little while became some two thousand years already since the time that the messiah yeshua died on the cross in fact the apostle who wrote to the early hebrew believers he told them in hebrews chapter 10 speaking about that little while for yet a little while verse 37 and he that shall come will come and will not tarry can you imagine these apostles in the upper room in the city of Yerushalayim were told by the Lord yet a little while and he shall see me not and then again yet a little while and he shall see me because I go unto the father now that little

while is that long period of time in fact since the assembly the church was born that little while is some two thousand years long already and the church have gone through this long period of time and we live in the days of the laodicean days of the church age and soon the lord is coming to rapture to snatch up to to take out of this world the assembly the ecclesia the believers who are born by the spirit of god who are part of the church but this little while now takes 2000 years or so and yet the Lord is saying to them a little while and ye shall see me no more that was very

puzzling that was puzzling statement for the disciples and that's why it was for them like a proverb like a dark saying and so he said because I go to the father in verse 16 Jesus the Messiah is telling them it is a little while because I go now to the father and so in verses 17 and 18 then said some of his disciples among themselves you can just imagine notice how they repeat the statement that the lord jesus was mentioning there in the upper room they are speaking with each other what is this that he saith unto us a little while and ye shall not see me and again a little while and ye shall

see me and because i go on to the father verse 18 said they said therefore what is this that he saith a little while we cannot tell what he saith now of course beloved friends if you and i would have been there we would have said the same thing how can we understand this little while indeed is a long time now that we already live here in the last days of the church it's a really long time but for them the church was not even born the messiah hasn't died the spirit hasn't come as yet so for them a little while was still a dilemma it was like a proverb for them like a dark

saying so they are speaking within themselves and they are asking what does he mean when he says that what does he mean a little while and so yeshua hears that and so in verse 19, Yeshua is instructing his disciples of the meaning of his saying.

It says beautiful how the Lord is seeking to help his disciples.

Now remember, beloved brothers and sisters, that the Lord, Jesus the Messiah, he is God the Son, and the Gospel of John presents before us his divine nature and because he is divine for him thousand years is just one day and one day is a thousand years and for the Lord Jesus the Messiah who is the eternal son of God who became a man and as a man he is just about to go now to the cross to pay for the sin of this world for him a little while is a little while but for the disciples what does he mean they were discussing among themselves is it a little while, is it one day, two

days ten days, five days, one week one month, what does he mean and so the Lord graciously in the next verses is explaining to them and you notice in verse 19 now Yeshua knew the they were desirous to ask him and notice what he says to them do ye inquire among yourself of that i said a little while and ye shall not see me and again a little while and ye shall see me in other words he knew what they were speaking among each other remember this conversation and this deliberation happened at the upper room and on the way to the garden of gethsemane where the lord will be there anticipating his death and he

will be captured by a judas who will betray him and those that will come to take him to the priest to the high priest so here he is communicating only with his disciples and sharing with them that which he had in his heart for them you see they followed him they have abandoned everything for him and he knew that he's the one yeshua is the one that called them to become fishers of men follow me and i will make you fishers of men they are the one who followed him who lived with him during the time of his public ministry and now they are anticipating his departure through the cross back to god the father

and he cared for them and so in verse 20 the lord jesus the messiah is telling them the reality that will happen and you notice he want them to rejoice knowing that they will have sorrow you see in verse 20 we find out the words verily verily I said to you that ye shall weep notice that and lament but the world shall rejoice and ye shall be sorrowful but your soul shall be turned into joy this is so precious isn't it that is exactly what God have done in the whole history of the people of Israel.

Amazing how the Lord knew very well that they will be not as weep, they will lament, and they will be sorrowful. On the other hand, the world this is the unregenerated world the world shall rejoice and the world will not understand why these believers why these apostles why these disciples and all those who will follow him will experience in this world sorrows they will lament they will weep but he promised notice this And I love this expression in verse 20. He says, but the world shall rejoice and ye shall be sorrowful. But, notice that verse 20 at the end. But, but he says, your sorrows shall be turned into joy.

Your sorrows shall be turned into joy. The Hebrew word, av lechem yehafech le sason. Your sorrows shall be turned into joy. And then he explaining, in verse 21, the illustration is almost like a parable, a mashal. The Lord Yeshua always spoke in parables or through stories, through illustration, To help the disciples. To help you and I to understand. Think about it. What Yeshua is teaching us here. Through the giving of a birth to a baby into this world. He continued in verse 21 and verse 22. He was speaking of a woman. When she is in travail. He's in labor. She has sorrow, because her hour has come. But as soon as she is delivered, in other words, as soon as the baby is being delivered, the child is coming, she remembers no more the anguish for joy that a man is born into the world.

Now this is so precious, because the lesson here is this. Yes, because we live in a world of sin, there is sorrow in this world. Sin brings sorrow. In fact, if you remember, my dear brothers and sisters and dear friend, in fact, the curse upon a woman that came in the days in which Adam and Eve have sinned, the curse was that a woman will bear children with much sorrow.

remember what we read in Genesis chapter 3 and verse 16 and to the woman he said I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception in sorrow thou shall bring forth children so in Genesis 3 and verse 16 God pronounced judgment upon the woman as he pronounces judgment upon the man Adam he said to him in so you shall eat of it of the of the ground all the days of thy life so judgment came upon Adam and Eve and you and I because of the fall because of the sin nature that we all have inherited because of the fall and we learn a great lesson while men in his life deserve to experience sorrow

yet because of what the Lord Jesus the Messiah has done for us, because of what God has provided for us, there is a joy in the midst of sorrows and the illustration is given by Yeshua the Messiah to his disciples here he says as a woman when she is in travail, she is in labor she has pain she has sorrow because her hours come the time to give delivery to deliver the baby but then as soon as she's travailed of her child she remember no more the anguish for joy that a man that a baby is born into this world in other words there is a lesson for us to learn here that Yeshua is

telling them yes you will experience sorrow you will lament you will weep but that sorrow will be turned into joy and that joy comes because of the knowledge that the reason that the Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah went to the cross to die is in order that he will provide for us redemption and that he will satisfy a holy and a righteous God because of you and I who are sinners by nature deserve to be punished and die and be separated from God and yet the Lord Jesus the Messiah is saying it the soul will be turned into joy while you are anticipating to be one day with me in heaven and yet assured here

and now that you are forgiven because you follow after me you believed in me so in verse 22 Yeshua continued and he said and ye now therefore have sorrows but I will see you again and your heart shall rejoice and your joy no man taketh from you.

This is wonderful. This is wonderful. In other words, the Lord is encouraging them. He says, you see, you have now sorrow because I live. There is nothing that can be done. My dear friend, listen. There is no solution to sin, to sin's problem except the death of the Messiah. Every time we read the story in the Gospels of the love of God who sent His Son to come to this world to pay for the sin of this world. Every time we read what the prophets of Israel prophesied concerning the Messiah, we are sad because we see how much it cost him in order to provide redemption for us.

The most, you might say, moving chapter in the Hebrew Scriptures is Isaiah chapter 53, where we read of the sufferings of the Messiah. And there we read that he was the one that was the perfect one, yet he is despised, he is rejected of men, He became a man of sorrow that had been acquainted with grief. And men would not even recognize him. Up till today in the world in which we live in, the vast majority of the world today still reject Yeshua the Messiah, God the Son who became a man. He is still despised. And we esteem him not. Surely, the future remnant of Israel will say, As it is written in Isaiah 53 and verse 4, Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrow.

And we did esteem Him stricken and smitten of God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon Him and with His stripe. That's the cross, one stripe. We are healed. You see, this is that which gives us joy in the midst of sorrow. Knowing that the Messiah, the Mashiach, had to die in order to provide redemption. This is amazing for us to understand, beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends. And that's why notice the Lord is encouraging the disciples right now to anticipate weeping, lamenting, being sorrowful while the world is rejoicing without God, rejoicing by rejecting the Messiah, rejoicing in their flesh, rejoicing here and now without hope.

But the believers will experience weeping, lamenting and sorrow, but yet their sorrows will be turned into joy, while the rejoicing of the unregenerated world will be turned into sorrow in the day of judgment. So we read, as a woman gave, is just about to give birth and the labor pain rises, once she gives birth to the baby, she forgets the pain, embracing the little child, the boy, the girl, and enjoying to have her child with her, completely forgetting the sorrows and the pain of labor. So here Yeshua is encouraging in verse 22, And ye now therefore have sorrow, but I will see you again. You will be with me.

In my Father's house there are many mentions. I go to prepare a place for you, John 14, in the first few verses. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and I will receive you unto myself. You see, I will see you again. There is hope for the believer. There is hope for you and I.

hope for everyone who trusted God everyone who believed God's word everyone who accepted Yeshua the Messiah who died for our sin your heart shall rejoice and your joy no man taketh away from you so beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends no one is able to take away the joy that belonged to God's people no one is able to take this away from you and I even though there are trials and difficulties here in this world but for the believer the child of God no one can take the internal joy from the heart of the child of God you notice the word joy is mentioned in verse 20 in verse 21 in verse 22 twice

rejoice in joy in verse 24 joy why is it joy is much more than happiness happiness depends upon what is happening but joy does not depend upon what is happening joy depends upon a relationship that is found with the lord yeshua jesus the messiah amazing beloved brothers and sisters and dear friends you see there is a verse that is found in Philippians, we know that verse, it's a verse that he says rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice the Apostle Paul encouraged the believers in the city of Philippi to have this joy rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice Philippians 4 verse 4 let your moderation be known unto

all men the Lord is at hand is nigh and so there is a necessity to rejoice in spite of a time when we will weep a time when we will lament a time when we will be sorrowing here in this world because of sin because of disappointment because of frictions because of conflict because of that which is going on in the world in which we live in?

Yes. But I will see you again. And your heart shall rejoice. And your joy no man taketh from you. Verse 22. In verse 23, In a future day ye shall ask me nothing. We will no longer need to ask because we will be in the presence of the Lord. And so notice Yeshua says, In that day, ye shall ask me nothing, verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it unto you. And you notice, it's not only that it takes us also to the future day when we will be with the Lord, as he said, I will see you again.

But also when the Holy Spirit of God will come. And in that day, it is in relationship to the coming of the Holy Spirit of God. When the Spirit will come, ye shall ask me nothing. In other words, we will ask the Father in the power of the Spirit. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father, the Abba, in my name, he will give it you. So again, one who belongs to the Lord may ask the Father, in the power of the Spirit, in the name of the Son, and as it says here in verse 23, He will give it unto you.

In other words, assuring us that our prayers will be answered and God will respond to the cry of his own people. And so, while we have to understand that principle, here in these verses, verses 16 to 22, now in verse 23 to 28, Yeshua continues and he says, really you need to believe what I promise you and trust me and you will be blessed and so in verses 23 to verse 28 we read first of all in verse 23 in that day this is the day of the coming of the Holy Spirit of God. When you will receive the Holy Spirit of God, ask the Father in the name of the Son, you will receive an answer.

Verse 24, Yeshua continued, he said, hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name, ask and ye shall receive that your joy may be full.

And so the disciples are exhorted now to prepare themselves to ask you see right now they are with him Yeshua is still with them they were together enjoying the Passover Seder, the feast of Pesach then they were learning from the time that Yeshua was with them that he is just about to go to the cross to die to become the Passover himself the lamb that takes away the sin of the world and now yeshua the messiah in the next verses he wanted the disciples to ask and to ask the father in the name of the son and so as he is with them hitherto you have asked nothing in my name ask and ye shall

receive that your joy may be full these things have i spoken unto you in Proverbs but the time cometh when I shall no more speak unto you in Proverbs verse 25 tells us but I shall show you plainly of the Father in other words that word for Proverbs in the Greek is pyromia really it's a saying which is in a symbol, in Hebrew it is still called mashal in Hebrew Mashal it's simply a parabolic way of sharing the truth of sharing a spiritual lesson and so the Lord Jesus the Messiah said you know now I've spoken to you and it sounds like it is kind of symbols and a parable and like a proverb but

he said at that day ye shall ask in my name and I say not unto you that I will pray the Father for you for the Father himself loveth you because ye have loved me and have believed that I came out from God and so beloved brothers and sisters verses 26 and verses 27 here once again the word ask simply means to praying and the Lord Jesus said that in in that day ye shall ask in my name and I say not unto you that I will pray the father for you no because now the father will respond you see can you imagine what a blessing it is to know that now after the Lord

have died and gone back to heaven after his resurrection is that believers can now speak directly to God the father and to ask him on the basis of the finished work of the Mashiach, of the Messiah.

Whenever we read the word, in my name, in my name, it simply means that on the basis of what I have provided for you, on the basis of the name of the Lord, which means that he provided salvation. You shall call his name Jesus, Yeshua, for he shall save his people from their sins. and so he's encouraging to pray to the Father and then the Father himself knows the heart of every one of us it's interesting because while the Lord Jesus the Messiah knew the hearts of all people all men that were with him yet we have to realize that God the Father as God the Holy Spirit the Divine Person and they know everything about us all.

And the Father knows very well those that follow His Son, the Messiah. And He loves those that follow His Son. That's why God so loved the world, that He sent His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have everlasting life the father sent the son to be the savior of the world and out of the world those who have turned to the savior to the messiah to jesus are loved by the father in a unique way of course god loves the whole world but a world as a world of the population who did not accept the Messiah do not enjoy that love the love of God and they can never call him Abba Father until they are born of the Spirit of God as John 1 tells us as many as received him received the Messiah to them he gave the authority to be called children of God children of the father and here we see now those that believed on the lord yeshua the messiah they are now loved by the father and the reason that he's he's loving them not only that he's loving them as as god the father love us as he loves the whole world but there is a special love relationship between the father god the father and those who follow the lord jesus the messiah We became sons and daughters of the Father.

And there is that intimate relationship as the Father-Son, Father-Daughter, Father-Child. That's why we are called often children, little children, as believers. So, the disciples believed in the person of the Lord Jesus that he came out from God, verse 27.

verse 28 Yeshua continued he said I came forth from the father and then come unto the world and again I leave the world and go to the father you remember in John 13 right at Pesach at the Passover in the city of Jerusalem when they were beginning the feast of Passover to be kept Yeshua we read in verse 1 of John 13 now before the feast of passover when yeshua knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world into the father having loved his own which were in the world he loved them unto the end and supper being this is the passover seder the passover supper the devil now having

put into the heart of judah's ishcriot simon's son to betray him verse 3 says yeshua knowing that the father had given all things unto his hands and that he was come from God and went to God he rises from supper and he laid aside his garment and he took a towel and he girded himself and he pours water into a basin and he began to wash the disciples feet and to wipe them with the towel wherewith he was girded this is John 13 verses 1 to 5 knowing that the father had given all things to him he came from god and he's going back to god well here in verse 28 of john chapter 16

he came from the father and he said now i'm coming to the world again and i leave the world and i go to the father you notice it's very interesting in john 13 he came from god and he's going back to god in john 16 he came from the father and he's going back to the father the same person god the father it is god who sent him and it is the father who sent him it is god who will receive him and it is the father who will receive him in other words the same person in the godhead God the Father wonderful in Hebrew Elohim Ha'av and so Yeshua in verse 28 he says

I came from God the Father and I now will return to God the Father to the Father La'aba so it is fascinating to realize that he is preparing the disciples for his departure to God to the Father through the cross he must die sin must be judged no one could ever pay for his own sin someone else have to be a substitute God took humanity with his divine nature God the Son became a man and now as man Yeshua Ham Mashiach is in anticipation to go back to the Father but it is through the cross through death burial and resurrection and so the third lesson we learn here from verse 29 to the end of

the chapter is this the believers in the Lord Jesus the Messiah not only that they ought to understand that principle that they will experience sorrow in this world they will experience persecution and discouragement here in this world they will weep, they will lament they will sorrow here in this world while the world is rejoicing in their own ways but their sorrows of the believers will turn into joy while the rejoicing of the unregenerated world will turn into sorrows at the day of judgment.

So they needed, the disciples needed to believe, to continue on. And that's why Yeshua has encouraged them to simply trust Him to pray, to ask and He will respond. The Father will respond and will encourage them here and now while they are here upon the face of this earth.

And so notice in verse 29 to verse 33 we read verse 29 the disciples now said notice that the disciples said unto him lo now notice that now speakest thou plainly and speakest no proverb now again notice the word now we are sure that thou knowest all things and needest not that any man should ask but this we believe that thou camest forth from god so in verse 29 the disciples understood what he previously shared with them what yeshua shared with them previously so they understood now what the lord jesus the messiah was sharing with them about the reality that in this world they will weep, they will lament, they will sorrow and yet their

sorrow will turn unto joy a woman who is in labor who is now in labor with much pain much sorrow until the baby comes into this world and she rejoices and forgets all the sorrow that she has experienced so the disciple says now you speak to us plainly now you do not speak to us in a proverb verse 30 now we are sure that you know all things and that you do not need any man will ask you anything but this we believe we believe that you came forth from God in order to say the final response of Yeshua the Messiah to his beloved disciples whom he loved dearly the Lord Jesus knew their weakness

just like you and I, my dear friend.

At a time when testing comes into our life, we oftentimes fail. And so the disciples also, they said, now, you know, we speak plainly. Now we don't speak in Proverbs, but we understand, we are sure, we know that you know all things and that we believe that you came from God. But, again, the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, knew very well that they will experience challenges. And as them, so you are, and I am. Time comes in our life when there are challenges, and oftentimes we fail the Lord. And because of our weakness, we need the Lord's grace.

and so notice how precious I love these last verses here in John chapter 16 verse 31, 32 and 33 let me read these to you beloved brothers and sisters Yeshua answered them he said do ye now believe do you believe now then he's telling them but behold he says the hour cometh ye is now come that ye shall be scattered every man to his own and shall leave me alone and yet I'm not alone because the Father is with me notice this kind of sad remark here you see they said now you speak plainly now you do not speak in the Proverbs now we are sure that you know all things now we believe that

you came from God but the Lord is telling them listen I know your heart i know you follow me you believe on me but you see there's a time come yeah he says that you will all be scattered in other words he is anticipating the time in which yeshua jesus the messiah will go to the cross and when he will go to the cross the shepherd of israel will be smitten and the sheep will be scattered see this is exactly what the prophet Zechariah said prophetically concerning the coming of the Messiah at his first coming where we read in Zechariah chapter 13 and verse 7 awake oh sword against my shepherd and against the man

that is my fellow in Hebrew amiti my fellow sayeth the Lord of hosts smite the shepherd and the sheep shall be scattered and I will turn mine hand upon the little ones in other words prophetically the prophet Zechariah as Isaiah and as other of the prophets of Israel said that all we like sheep have gone astray we have turned everyone to his own way not only by nature in our day by day life but even when the time when the Messiah came who is the shepherd when the sword of the judgment that fell upon the Lord Yeshua Jesus the Messiah who is the shepherd of Israel my shepherd God called him then the sheep will

be scattered and isn't it beloved friend exactly what the Lord is anticipating here when he is telling his disciples concerning the time where he will die you see this is amazing because it's so true according to Matthew chapter 26 and verse 31 we read it says then says Jesus unto them all ye shall be offended because of me this night for it is written I will smite the shepherd and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered abroad but after I am risen again I will go before you into Galilee you see Yeshua knew that that verse in Zechariah chapter 13 and verse 7 really speaks of him, he is the shepherd of the sheep

and he said to them all ye shall be offended it because of me this night see Matthew chapter 26 has the same thought that we have in John chapter 14 15 and 16 in the same upper room what we get additional information from Matthew we can see here in John chapter 16 where Yeshua said, Behold, the hour is come.

Yea, he is come now, and ye shall be scattered. Every man to his own, and you shall leave me alone. You know, that is so, so sad.

You see, we by nature are fallen we by nature are fearful we by nature will never be able to do anything for god unless he helps us we are selfish by nature all seek their own if it would not be the lord that will assist us and help us to follow him we will all continue in our own ways and yet the lord knows that you see he knows everything about us he knows everything and that's why he told the disciples who just said to him after all this deliberation in chapter 16 he says oh yes now now you speak plainly now you do not speak in proverb at the end of verse 30 it

says but we believe that you came from God so you would think when they would believe they will not you might say stumble and be sure of themselves and yet we learn that the Lord knows everything how weak we are by nature and so he tells them the hour is coming yeah he says it is now remember beloved brothers and sisters we are just in the last time of the Lord here on earth soon He will go to the cross these are the last chapter 17 is the unique prayer of the Lord speaking to His Father and by the time we arrive to the next chapters He is on the cross nailed to a Roman

cross crucified and finishing the work of redemption when he will die when God will judge him for the sin of this world and so he knew very well you see the hour is coming a few hours when you will be scattered every man to his own and he shall leave me alone and yet Yeshua may die alone without any man have any part with it but our Abba God the Father was always with him notice what he says but I am not alone because the Father is with me you remember it reminds us of this wonderful march you might say a walk of Abraham the Father and Yitzhak the son you remember they went both

of them together in Genesis chapter 22 where God tested Abraham and said take now thine only son Isaac whom thou lovest and get thee into the mountain of Moriah and offer him therefore a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of and so we read in obedience to the call of God in verse 6 Abraham and Isaac it says that they went both of them together verse 8 of Matthew chapter 22 they went both of them together Abraham and Isaac went together here God the Father never left his son that's why we read that the Lord on the cross he never said Father why has thou forsaken me so here

we learn this amazing lesson that God the Father had to act as a judge when the Messiah was on the cross that's why Yeshua did not say my father, my father why has thou forsaken me but my God, my God why has thou forsaken me because God the Father acting as a judge judging sin has to turn away his face from the man Yeshua but on the other side we learn that the father and the son were always together this is amazing to learn beloved friend even though it is hard to grasp yet notice Yeshua said I am not alone because my father is with me the conclusion here of this amazing 16th chapter of

the Gospel of John in verse 33 Yeshua wanted the disciples to have Shalom Shalom peace in Him He will never leave them and He is encouraging them to be of good cheer cheer up because ultimately even though he will go to die he's a victor he will victoriously will provide redemption for sinful mankind who would believe on him so verse 33 the concluding verse of this chapter these things have I spoken unto you what these things?

all the things chapter 13, chapter 14 chapter 15 chapter 16 all the things that he had spoken unto them in the happy room at the Passover table in the city of Jerusalem and on the way to the garden of Gethsemane all these things that I have spoken unto you that in me you might have shalom you might have peace oh yes in the world you shall have tribulation but be of good cheer I have overcome the world oh beloved brothers and sisters i have overcome the world while the world and satan and the flesh thought that they have defeated this man the messiah that they have defeated god when this man died on the cross

and he was put away yet yeshua said i have overcome the world i have overcome the world you remember what we read in first john chapter 5 the very same yohanan john the evangelist who gave us by divine inspiration the gospel of yohanan the gospel of john gave us by divine inspiration the letters the epistle that he wrote to early believers and he said in first john 5 verse 4 and 5 whatsoever is born of god overcomes the world and this is the victory that overcomes the world even our faith verse 5 he that overcomes the world but he that believes that Yeshua is the Son of God he that believes that Jesus is the

Son of God well wonderful my dear friend Yeshua is concluding here with his conversation with the disciples in the upper room and on the way to the garden of Gethsemane.

This thing have I spoken unto you that in me you might have peace, shalom. In a world you will have tribulation. He didn't say you might have, but you will have. But be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. And when the Lord Jesus the Messiah died on that shameful tree, he defeated Satan, he defeated the world, He defeated the flesh. He defeated sin. He provided a way of redemption for sinful people like you and I in order to restore man to God and bring salvation to a sinful world. Be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. Just one more remark here. We have always to distinguish this expression in verse 33.

In the world you shall have tribulation. We must distinguish between the tribulation period of seven years of which we read elsewhere. In Daniel chapter 9 and of the tribulation that is found even that Yeshua spoke about in Matthew chapter 24. where Yeshua has spoken about the tribulation that will occur here on earth during the seven-year tribulation. We must distinguish between the ordinary tribulation that every believer experiences in his or her life. We must distinguish this tribulation that all believers experience in their life from the great tribulation. Which will occur after the rapture of the church. Which is found in Daniel 9. And the Lord Yeshua said about this great tribulation.

In Matthew chapter 24 verse 21. For then shall be great tribulation such as was not since the beginning of the world. To this time no, no ever shall be. We must distinguish between these tribulations that are coming upon believers every day and the great tribulation that will happen after the rapture of the church during the seven years of Jacob's trouble. That Israel will experience a special time of tribulation, Jacob's trouble. The world will experience a time of tribulation out of which God will restore his earthly people Israel back to himself at the second coming of the Mashiach. And all Israel shall be saved at the end of the tribulation.

The Tzarat Yaakov, Jacob's trouble. But here, Yeshua is simply speaking about, in John 16, verse 33, about trouble that all believers experience in our lives here on earth. During the time that the Lord allotted each and every one of us here on earth. Well, beloved brothers and sisters, God bless you. We concluded John chapter 16.
