Okay. Shalom, everyone. Let's just turn, please, to Hebrews chapter 7 today. And we are going to read the first 10 verses I'm going to read today and see how much we can cover of this chapter. Hebrews chapter 7, verses 1 to 10. Actually, Hebrews 7, 8, 9, and 10, those four chapters, are one of the major sections of the book of Hebrews that really deals with the priesthood of Melchizedek. It also shows us the superiority of Yeshua the Messiah in his priesthood over the Leviticus priesthood. You remember we read today in the book of Numbers chapter 3 and we read about the fact that God had chosen the tribe of Levi to be the special tribe that will serve him in the priesthood.

The tribe that will be the priestly tribe and this tribe will be the tribe that will be drawing near to God, representing the nation of Israel as a nation and that no one who is not from the tribe of Levi could ever approach the Lord. And you remember we read in Numbers chapter 3, If one will approach, then this person will be cut off. He will die. Now notice what we read here in chapter 7 of Hebrew. For this Malkitzedek, king of Shalem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings, And he blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave tenth part of all, first being by interpretation king of righteousness, and after that also king of Shalem or Salem, which is king of peace or shalom.

Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life, but made like unto the Son of God abideth a priest forever. Now consider how great this man was, unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave the tenth of the spoils. And verily, they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithe of the people according to the law, that is, of their brethren. Though they come out of the loyens of Abraham, but he, whose descent is not counted from them, received tithe of Abraham and blessed him that had the promise.

And without all contradiction, the less is blessed of the better. And here men that die receive tithe, but there he receiveth them of whom it is witness that he leveth. And as I may so say, Levi also who receiveth tithe paid tithe in Abraham, for he was yet in the loin of his father when Melchizedek met him. I'll stop here with the reading. We're just going to touch this message, touch the ten verses of Hebrews chapter 7 in connection with the priesthood of Malkit Tzedek. Now, a very interesting passage and very interesting man is that man by the name of Malkit Tzedek. In fact, beloved brothers and sisters, Malkit Tzedek is the kind of individual that appears in history for a very short time and disappears very fast from the pages of the Word of God.

We have very little written about Malkit Tzedek in the Hebrew Scriptures, in the Tanakh, in the Old Testament. Very little. In fact, there is so much written about Malkit Tzedek in the Brit HaChadashah, but so little is written about Malkit Tzedek in the Tanakh, in the Old Testament. Now, don't underestimate an individual in the Bible that is even mentioned one time in the Scripture. You and I might look at a person that is mentioned once in the Scripture, and we will say, well, it is not important. And you see, the important individuals are so-and-so, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, David, all the old men of God that we read in the scripture, but Malkitzedek.

I haven't heard about him or hardly read about this man by the name of Malkitzedek. I remember years ago when I rather preached about this passage in Hebrews chapter 7, and he was talking about Malkit Sedeq and he reminded those who hear the message of the importance of every actor in a play. Every actor in a play is very important. You know, you may have been, if you remember years ago when you were a child and you went to school and you had a play where you have to show to your parents what you have learned in school and perhaps there is a play, a special gathering of all the parents coming to the school to see the play.

I remember when I was in school and I had a play where in our school in Jerusalem and I had a very small part in the play. My part in the play was so small, insignificant, because I was ashamed to stand publicly before so many people. Oh, my mom didn't see me, my family and my friends and the parents. I was afraid and ashamed so I took a little part, just dressed, the part went on the stage and went off the stage very small part just maybe for a few seconds and that's actually what we learn from this man by the name of Malkitsede he act a part in the play he comes to the page of scripture and get off the pages of scriptures and he seemed to be an individual that is not important but he has a little part and God here in Hebrews chapter 7 8 9 and 10 and specifically chapter 7 shows us the importance of the person of Malkin 7.

Let me just connect chapter 6 with chapter 7 that we don't lose the thought here. Remember we are studying the book of Hebrews. The writer who wrote Jewish believers in Yeshua the Messiah who lived at the time where the temple was in existence they have already believed in the Messiah they have been warned already three warnings by the writers warning number one do not allow God's word to drift away from you therefore don't allow God's word to drift therefore stay close to the word of God because if it drift away from you the message of the Lord you begin to drift away from the word of God don't drift away number two in chapter 3 verse 7 to chapter 4 verse 13 he says if you are going to drift you're going to begin to doubt.

Do not doubt God's word. Let God be true and every man a liar. The third warning is Hebrews chapter 5 11 into 6 12 which we have covered in our last meetings together is do not be dull of hearing God's word. Be careful. Don't drift. Don't doubt. Don't be dull. That's the warning. There are two more warnings coming here. But the third warning that we have been occupied with is dullness of hearing. You and I know that very well. Often in our life, we hear it in one ear, we let it go in the other ear, and we are dull in our hearing. You know why we are dull in our hearing?

Because we allow the Word of God to drift away, we begin to doubt what God says, and then it leads to dullness.

here the third warning is coming but now after he gave them the third warning he showed them as we have spoken last time the fact in verse 13 to the end the security that the hebrews had in the messiah though they were in dangers of drifting in dangers of doubting and in danger of dullness yet their security in the messiah was there because of what the messiah yeshua jesus our lord and our messiah have done for them and that's why he said to them in chapter 6 verses 13 all the way to the end of the chapter verse 20 where he said to them listen we are secure because of god's promises we are secure

because of god's oath and we are secure because of god's beloved son yeshua the messiah that's why you hebrews are secure when you remember the last verses just before we started chapter 7 it says he say for god as he said it was impossible for god to lie but we might have a strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope that he said before us those hebrews had a hope that he set before them and he said you have fled for refuge i like this thought so much you know the cities of refuge that god the people of all Israel, the five cities of refuge were there for them to

flee, to be protected from the one that was the avenger, the one who wanted to slay them, kill them, because they have committed a sin or committed, they have killed somebody, not murdered, but they have slain a man.

If somebody by mistake or without intention had killed someone, to be protected, they have fled to refuge in the city of refuge. And that's what you and I have done when we became believers. That's what those first century Hebrew believers have done. They fled to the Lord, to the Messiah, to Yeshua, to be protected. They fled for refuge and he gave them the protection. He gave them assurance. You have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope that he set before us. And then he told them which hope we have as an anchor to the soul. You know, you might not see the anchor.

It's down in the depth of the sea. But you've touched the cord of the rope and you give a tag and you see, ah, the anchor is there. That's what we need to realize. The anchor is there. We have the Lord as an anchor. The hope in him is an anchor to our soul. Don't be discouraged, Hebrew believers, he's saying to them. Don't be drifting. Don't be doubting. Don't be dull in spite of persecutions and trials that you have. Look to the Lord. He is the one that is an anchor for your soul. And then he said that he's sure and steadfast. He entered within the veil.

And you know, I heard the other day about the veil. You know, the veil that the Hebrews have had in the temple. See, he's speaking to Hebrew believers. was so thick, was so high, was so wide, that you need many, many individuals to carry that veil. No one could just get in because it was only the high priest who could enter there within the veil. So the Hebrews, who became believers in Yeshua, now have that high priest, the Messiah, who enter, and he doesn't talk about the veil of the temple in Jerusalem. he's talking about the veil to the presence of god to the immediate presence of god that the lord there and you notice the last verse of chapter six the forerunner enter for us even yeshua who became or was made a high priest forever after the order of man he said that's when he stopped then he presented before them malchitzed by the way he wanted to already speak to these believers about malchitzed already in the earlier verses but he didn't continue because he had to give them a warning if you would look just earlier please allow me if you look into chapter 5 and he's mentioned to them about malchitzed already he says in chapter 5 verse 5 also the Messiah glorified not himself but be made a high priest but he that said unto him thou art my son today have I begotten thee as he saith also in another place thou art a priest forever after the order of Malkitzedek.

He already mentioned Malkitzedek but he stopped because he could not tell them about Malkitzedek because he says in verse 11 of chapter 5 of whom Malkitzedek we We have many things to say and hard to be uttered. Seeing that you are dull of hearing. I'm not going to tell you about him right now because I'm going to give you the warning of chapter 5 and chapter 6. And now in chapter 7, he began to tell them the things that he wanted to say about Malkit Sedeq. The question immediately arising in our mind is, who is Malkit Sedeq? And why is he mentioning Malkit Tzedek here in chapter 7, and why he is such an important individual who came once upon the time on the pages of Scripture and been disappeared very quickly from the pages of Scripture?

Well, I would like to suggest, and I would like you please to turn for a moment to Genesis chapter 14 with me. We read about the first time in the Bible where we hear about Malkit Tzedek. So please turn in your Bibles to Genesis chapter 14, and I'm reading the verses in this chapter that has to do with Malkitsedek. It says in verse 13, after the war between four kings against five kings, in which Lot, The nephew of Avram was taken captive. Avram, it says in verse 13, and there came one that had escaped and he told Avram the Hebrew. That's the first time in the Bible where we hear of the word Hebrew.

Of course, we have a man by the name of Eber earlier. Here is Ivri. It's the first time we hear the word Ivri, Hebrew. How we know that we are Hebrews? because of our forefather, the Hebrew, Abraham. So it says, they told Abraham the Hebrew, for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre, the Amuid, the brother of Eshkol and brother of Anel, and these were confederate with Abraham. And when Abraham heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, 318, and pursued them unto Dan. And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and he smote them and pursued them unto Chovah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.

And he brought back all the goods, and also he brought again his brother Lot and his goods, and the women also, and the people also. Verse 17. And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Kedal-Omel and of the kings that were with him at the valley of Sheba, which is the king's dale. Now here is Malkit Tzedek mentioned in the Bible, in the Tanakh, in Bereshit, in Genesis the first time. Verse 18. And Malkitzedek, king of Shalem, brought forth bread and wine, and he was the priest of the Most High God, and he blessed him. And he said, Blessed be Avram, of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth.

And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thine hands. And he, this is Abram, gave him, this is Melchizedek, tithe of all. And the king of Sodom and so on said unto Abraham, and I'm not going to read that, but just the last part in verse 20, And blessed be the most high God which has delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth of all that he had. I'm stopping here for a moment. Now we are back in Hebrews chapter 7. Now the writer to the Hebrew believers is ready to tell them about Melchizedek. So he tells them about Melchizedek in chapter 7 that Melchizedek is a priest of the Most High God and that Yeshua, the Messiah, has now the Melchizedek order rather than the Levitical order.

That's what he does in chapter 7. He wants to show the Hebrew believers that Yeshua has a greater order of priesthood than the Levitical order. And notice, first of all, he does in the first 10 verses, he takes him back to the proof of the greatness of the priesthood of Yeshua by taking him to the historical setting. He's taking them back, the Hebrew believers, he's taking them back to the time of Abram, their father. And he's saying, notice in verse 1, first of all, For this Malkitzedek, king of Salem, or Shalem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abram returning from the slaughter of the kings, and he blessed him.

First of all, you notice in this verse 1 that this man by the name of Malkitsedek is both. He is a king, but he is also a priest. Notice verse 1, I'm reading this. Malkitsedek, king of Shalem, number one. Number two, priest of the Most High God. Now, this is mind-boggling. How is it possible that a man be both king and priest at the same time? It was never allowed under the law. Remember we just read in Numbers in chapter 3 that if anybody who is not from the tribe of Levi will ever try to function as a priest, he will be killed. You could not become a priest and a king at the same time.

The king is from the line of Judah. And the priest is from the line of Levi. They could never be from the same tribe. And that's why he's saying, look what's happening here. Yeshua, Jesus, the Messiah, who entered in, became a high priest of the order of Malkitzedek. He is both. He is a king and a priest at the same time. He says here in verse 1, for this Malkitzedek, king of Shalev.

priest of the Most High God and also is a king who also met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and he blessed Abraham the first thing we learn here about Melchizedek he appeared he was a king of Shalem he was a priest of the Most High God and he was both titles and officers at the same time you see the leviim or the levites could never become kings it has to be from the tribe of judah neither the king could ever function as a priest it was a no-no under the law and so the first thing we learn here that malchitzedek was both a king and a priest at the same time and

we just read genesis chapter 14 verses 18 and verse 22 both of these verses show us that he was both a king and a priest and malchitzedek become a type and a picture of our lord jesus the messiah you see because those hebrews might immediately talk to this writer and they said to him wait a minute wait a minute if you say that he entered into the immediate presence of god within the veil he presents us before god how could he do that if he's not from the tribe of levi that's why the writer said listen i want you to see that the priesthood of yeshua the messiah is of a greater order because he's

not from the tribe of levi he is a descendant or he's coming he has a different order and the order is the monkey said deck order that's the one that i'm talking about but secondly notice in the second verse in the first part of the second verse you notice that malchitzedek received tithe from abraham notice it said at the end of verse one it says that he blessed him but then it says in verse two to whom also abraham gave a tenth part of all we read it in verse 20 of genesis chapter 14.

well wait a minute the priests are to take tithe from the people the levites are to take tithe from the rest of the nation of israel what he teaching those hebrew believers that abraham gave tithe to malchit sedek proving the fact that he was acknowledging the priesthood of malchit sedek that's why he says to whom also abraham gave tithe because abraham recognized that he was to represent him before god he was the king priest and that's why we'd never read that market said they gave tithe to abraham but we read that abraham gave tithe to market said it not a thirdly in verse 2 also not only that malchitzedek received tithe from abram but in

verse 2 also in malchitzedek's name we learn a very important lesson it says here the second half of verse 2 first being by interpretation king of righteousness and after that also king of shalem which is a king of peace you see there is a meaning in the name of malchizedek you know it's not like today in a world in which we live in you give a name to somebody without a meaning to the name and i'm not knocking down anyone but what i'm trying to say that biblical names have a meaning when jacob's name was changed from yakov to israel in genesis chapter 32 the name was changed for a reason and with a meaning

yakov supplanted field holder follower israel prince with god prince of god here there was a change in his life he was if you will change with his behavior and attitude because it speaks of redemption it speaks of a new life a new beginning well here we have maliki tzedek melech in hebrew means king tzedek means righteousness maliki tzedek simply means as it says here in verse 2a king of righteousness that's what the meaning of his name so what we learn here beloved brothers and sisters if according to chapter 6 of hebrews verse 20 yeshua became a high priest forever after a different order than the levitical he became a priest forever after the market said

the order we find out that he can be both a king and a priest at the same time that's why he's saying to them in these verses 1 and 2, that now He, by interpretation, Malkit Tzedek means King of Righteousness.

And you know, beloved, how precious and how beautiful these speak to us about the person of the Lord, Yeshua, the Messiah. You know, in a world in which we live in, there will never be peace without righteousness. You know, people looking for peace in this world, let's make shalom in this world, but you can never have shalom without tzedek. You can never have peace without righteousness. You can never have, when there is an unrighteous world, there will never be peace. Peace can only come to this world upon a righteous standing and a righteous ground. And that's why we know that it is a picture of the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah.

Notice, if you turn with me for a moment to Psalm 85, I want to read a verse there. Psalm 85 and verse 10. The psalmist was writing about the Messiah and the future day of the kingdom. Psalm 85 we read. Mercy and truth, verse 10, have met together. Righteousness and peace have kissed each other. Mercy and truth, righteousness and peace have kissed each other. You know, when righteousness and peace have kissed each other with the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, Yeshua, our Messiah, and our Lord, when He was on the cross, God's righteousness had been vindicated because He judged sin. And then there is an open gate to have peace towards man.

Peace with God we have through our Lord Jesus, our Lord Yeshua, the Messiah. And so righteousness and peace have kissed each other when Yeshua our Lord was for us on the cross. Go back to Psalm 72 and verse 7. We read there as well. Psalm 72. In His days, speaking about the days of the reign of the Messiah, shall the righteous flourish an abundant of peace so long as the moon endures. In whose days? Well, this is in the days of Messiah, of Yeshua, our Lord and our Messiah. Psalm 72, the whole song deals with the future day of restoration of the nation of Israel and the kingdom of the Messiah.

But in His day, righteousness and the righteous will flourish. Today, the righteous suffer wrong. But in a messianic age, the righteous will flourish. We live in a world that is unjust. No righteousness here And therefore there is no peace But the king is not here The one that we read of him The king of righteousness Malkit Tzedek Is not here He has been set aside Only when he is going to reign When he has his rightful place There will be peace and shalom in this world And so you see here beloved brothers and sisters That the meaning of the name Malkit Tzedek is a type and a picture of Yeshua, the Messiah, the King of Righteousness and the King of Peace.

Melech HaShalom and Melech HaTzedek, as we call these in the Hebrew language. Now, so verse 1 and 2 already show us three things about Malkit Tzedek. He was both king and priest. He has also received tithe from Abraham, show that he is greater than Abraham. And number three, his name means that he is the king, of righteousness and the king of peace. Now notice in verse 3, Malkitsedek has a very special history, if you will. It says in verse 3, without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days nor end of life. Wait a minute. Now the writer obviously does not mean that Malkit Tzedek never was born.

Because even Yeshua was born into this world through the mother Miriam. What he means that there is no record of his birth or record of his life or what's happened with him after he was removed from the pages of scripture.

It says, notice, without father and without mother by the way you could not say this about yeshua the messiah in his physical birth he had a mother he was born into this world but what we learn here that he takes us here and gives us a picture of the lord jesus the messiah as the eternal son of god he never had beginning because he is the creator he never had it it says here in verse 3 without descent having neither beginning of days no end of life we never read of ever malchitzenic's death we do not read this in scripture he became a type of our blessed lord yeshua the messiah who his eternal existence

was as the scripture tells us in the psalm from eternity to eternity thou art god no beginning of days no end of life without father without mother without descent well malchitzed is a type of the messiah now some by the way believe that he was actually the pre-incarnate messiah some teach that and i don't i don't follow this i don't take this position i believe that he was a picture of the messiah but not pre-incarnate messiah you know many times we saw the lord we see of him in his pre-incarnation time where he appeared he appeared to abraham in genesis 18.

he appeared in many other places he appeared before he became a man but here we see that malchitzedek is a picture of yeshua the messiah notice it says and let me repeat that verse again without father without mother without descent having added beginning of days no end of life and notice it made like unto the son of god notice the word like he doesn't say made the son of god make like unto the son of god just like the lord jesus the messiah in his eternal being the eternal god make like unto the son of god abideth a priest continue and it's interesting that here it says made like unto the son of god and

not like unto the son of man why because yeshua had the beginning of incarnation in his manhood he had a start we read in first john one that which we have seen from the beginning speak about his incarnation when he became a man literally a spirit soul and body when he was born in bethlehem he had a start as man but he never had any start in eternity past that's the distinction that's why it says here make like unto the son of god you know that's precious this this is like a revelation a revelation because when we read about market setting in the pages of scripture and we quickly skip the few verses that is

mentioning his name and what he has done and we continue into other passages of scripture he seems to be such an insignificant individual in the bible and yet God in his wisdom, in his foreknowledge.

Give us a lesson from this man by the name of Malkitsedek. Malkitsedek was both king and priest, verse 1. Malkitsedek received tithe from Abraham, verse 2a. Malkitsedek's name means king of righteousness, verse 2b. Malkitsedek's history is so unique, There is no record of his genealogy, his descent. And that is important to understand. Because there is no record, because there is no beginning or end, it shows us that he is a picture of the eternal priesthood of the Lord Yeshua, the Messiah. Now let me show you the difference. The Levites, Halevi'im, the Levites had to prove their record. They had to show their record. You remember when they returned, when there was the 50,000 who returned from the Babylonian captivity.

We read about this in the book of Ezra and Nehemiah. They had to prove their record that they belonged to the priestly line. They had to show it in the record. Do you know every one of us who have a name, a family name today, like Kohen, mean priest, or Levi, Leviathan, for example. These are people that potentially have been from the priestly line. But we don't have the records to prove it today because after 70 AD, the temple had been destroyed. But they had to prove that they belonged to the tribe of Levi in order to function at the temple. You will talk today to our people, to our Jewish people, any person that his family name is Cohen.

He is not going to a funeral service. He is not allowed to touch the dead. He is not allowed certain things to handle because he supposedly perhaps from the tribe of the priestly tribe, the tribe of Levi, and they cannot be affiliated with that which is not, give them the potential of being holy or be presented before the Lord. And that's why it is so important to see that the Levite had to prove their record. But here we see without any, no record of his genealogy, without father without mother without this and he appeals and he disappears he come on the pages of scripture speak to Abraham blesses Abraham receive time from Abraham and disappears we don't have any more record except one place beside Genesis chapter 14 one place in the Tanakh this is in psalm 110 and verse 4 why don't you turn there please with me psalm 110 in verse 4 actually i'll read very short psalm psalm 110 verses 1 to 4 look at this i read 1 to 4 i don't read the whole chapter but the lord said unto my lord sit thou at my right hand until i make thine enemies thy footstool.

This is the psalm of David. The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion. Rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the days of thy power in the beauty of holiness. From the womb of the morning thou hast the dew of thy youth. The Lord has swore and will not repent. Thou art a priest forever after the order of Malki Tzedek. You notice that? That's the second time and the second place in Scripture that all of a sudden the historical sentiment being brought into presentation here in Psalm 110 and verse 4. Thou art a priest forever after the order of Malki Tzedek.

And you see, beloved brothers and sisters, we are talking about different orders. The Levitical order and the Malkit Tzedek order. The Levitical order was an order that is under the law. The Malkit Tzedek order was long before the law was even given to the nation of Israel. And that's why he's giving before those Hebrew believers in verses 1 to 3, showing to them the person of Malkit Tzedek from history, from historical setting. That's why he says, listen, Yeshua, Jesus, was made a high priest forever after the order of Malkit Tzedek. It's an eternal order. It's an eternal priesthood. It's not limited like the Levitical priesthood. Now, go back to Hebrews chapter 7.

And there are three more things that he's saying here in verses 4 to 10. Melchizedek had authority to do certain things that even including taking and receiving tithe from the Levites and also to bless the Levites and both of them, the Levites, the receiving of the tithe and the blessing of the Levites was done through Abraham because the Levites were not in existence at that time. So through the loyens of Abraham, they have been blessed, and they also gave tithe through Abraham. And that's what he's doing now. In verses 4 and 5, we read that Abraham gave tithe to Malkit Tzedek. Now consider how great this man was. This is Malkit Tzedek, he's saying.

Unto whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of his poets. And verily, they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the people according to the law. That is, of their brethren, namely the rest of the nation of Israel. Though they came out of the loins of Abraham. Verse 4 and 5 is saying, look, what a great man this Malkit Tzedek had been. that even Abraham gave him tithe. Now remember, to the Hebrews, Abraham was very important. He's the father of our people, the father of our nation. He was the father of all believers.

But Abraham gave tithe to Malkitsedek. Well, if Abraham is great, and he was a great man, but he gave tithe to someone who was greater than him. That's why he says, consider how great this Malkit Tzedek was, that even Abraham our father here gave the tithe, the tenth of his spoils unto him. And we read it in Genesis 14 and verse 20. He's moving on now, he's making the application. And he says, look in verse 5. Verily, they that are the sons of Levi, this is the tribe of Levi, they received the office of the priesthood. We read it in number 3. they have commandment what was the command to take tithe of the people according to the law the levites or the leviim were commended by god to take tithe the tenth out of the people of israel because they had no inheritance among the people of israel and they were commended by the law to take tithe from the people of Israel.

And then he said, though they come out of the loyens of Abraham. You notice that? The Levites, as well as the rest of the tribes of Israel, came out of the same loyens of Abraham. They were descendants of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac. Isaac begat Jacob. Jacob begat the 12 sons. All of them, all the 12 sons came out of the loyens of Abraham.

but still the levites were distinct from the rest of the nation they took tithe from the rest of the nation god has set the levites to be a priesthood a tribe that will be representing the rest of the nation before the god of israel and i just going to read these verses he says and i behold i have taken the levites from among the children of israel numbers 3 verse 12 instead of the firstborn that opens the matrix among the children of israel therefore the levite shall be mine and then he continued and he said in verse 13 because all the firstborn are mine for on the day that i smote all the firstborn in

the land of egypt i hallowed unto me all the firstborn in israel both man and beast they are mine they should be mine i am the lord so the levites became chosen from among all the people of israel to be the priestly tribe to take tithe from the nation of israel and so we can see that there is a distinction between the tribe of levi and the rest of the tribes of israel now the second thing that he's mentioned not only abraham gave tithes to malchitzedek verses four and five but malchitzedek also bless abraham he blessed him and notice he says in verses six and seven but he whose descent is not counted from them

received the tithe this is malchitzedek by the way he is not counted from the tribes of levi and for the rest of the tribes of israel he received time from abraham and he blessed him that had the promise you see that how the possible that Abraham was blessed by Melchizedek and Abraham gave tithes to Melchizedek it's only prove who is the greater who is the one who is superior and verse 7 said that without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better The less is Abram, the better is Malkitsedek.

And you see, he's unfolding before those Hebrew believers how Yeshua, the Messiah, can be a greater high priest than all the Levitical priesthood because of the fact that he was the eternal Son of God. And he's altogether a priest after a different order, the order of Malkitsedek. And thirdly, in verses 8, 9, and 10, the Levites, the priests from among the tribe of Levi actually gave tithes to Melchizedek also. But how they have done it? They have done it through Abraham their father. Verse 8, 9, and 10. And here men that die receive tithes, but there he receiveth them of whom it is witness that he liveth. Speaking about Melchizedek. And as I may so say, Levi also who received tithe paid tithe in Abraham.

How he paid tithe to Abraham? For he was yet in the loyons of Abraham, his father, when Melchizedek met him. You see, I mean, I know it's a bit complicated when we read these verses. But what happened, because the Levites were not yet born, they paid their tithes to Melchizedek through their forefather Abraham, who was then giving tithe to this man by the name of Melchizedek. And so, beloved, you know, this is what the writer is trying to show those early Hebrew believers. That the order of the Melchizedek priesthood is greater than the order of the Levitical priesthood. The Levitical priesthood, the priest dies. And another priest, and he dies.

And another priest, he dies. But the Melchizedek priesthood never ended. He liveth consistently. He ever liveth to make a decision for us on behalf of the children of God. And therefore, the 10 verses of Hebrews chapter 7 shows us the superior order of the priesthood of Malkitsedek than the Levitical order of priesthood. And therefore, those Hebrew believers should have looked up. And in spite of the fact that they wanted to go back to the Levitical priesthood in the temple, and to go on and on and on through the motion, they should look forward, look upwards to the person of Yeshua the Messiah, who is a greater priest, a great high priest, have a greater order.

and they can come to him at any time, approach him and present themselves before him. And so those are the main verses that I wanted to present before you, brothers and sisters, today of the fact that Yeshua has a completely different order of priesthood. By the way, you remember that Yeshua was not born to the Levitical tribe. He was born to the tribe of Judah. Genesis chapter 49 says, The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the lawgiver from between his feet. Genesis 49, 10. And we read later as we move on in the record of scripture, we find out that he was born to the tribe of Judah and not to the tribe of Levi.

And that's why the Bible began, as the Bible is mentioned in the New Testament. This is the book of the generation of Yeshua, the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham. Abraham begat Isaac, Isaac begat Jacob, Jacob begat Judas and his brethren. The Lord Jesus, our Messiah, is not from the tribe of Levi. That's why he could not be a Levitical priest. But he is from the tribe of Judah and he is a king. But when it's come to his priesthood, he is a priest altogether after a different order. And the order is the Malki, it says the order. Mark Yitzhak is a type of our Lord Jesus the Messiah.

What a man. That's why it says, Recognize what a great man this man has been, that he blessed Abraham, received tithe from Abraham, and our blessed Lord Yeshua the Messiah is after a different order altogether. And brothers and sisters, today you and I can look to heaven. We can look at him and he is there in glory, interceding on our behalf, lifting up his holy hand, interceding on our behalf. And we can, any time we can approach him, and we can tell him our needs. We can confess before him our sins. We can tell him our problem. And he is ever living to make intercession on behalf of his people.

The Levites are no longer there. We don't have a temple in Jerusalem today. We don't have an altar there today. We don't have a sacrifice there today. Therefore, the priesthood of the Levitical priesthood had to be changed. And something else had to come. And here he is, putting this before those early believers, focus on the great high priest, our Lord Yeshua, Jesus the Messiah. Can we say amen to that? Amen.
