Shabbat Shalom everyone. Please turn with me to the book of Acts today, Acts chapter 10. And we are going to try to finish chapter 10 and see how Peter the Apostle used the key that Yeshua the Messiah had given to him in order to unlock or to open the door to the Gentile world to enter into the body of the Messiah, the body of Christ. And so we read in Acts chapter 10 today, beginning from verse 34 to the end of the chapter. Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons, but in every nation, He that feareth him and worketh righteousness is accepted with him.

The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Yeshua, the Messiah, he is Lord of all. That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached. How God anointed Yeshua of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him and we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem whom they slew and hang on a tree Him God raised up the third day and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us who did eat and drink with Him after He rose from the dead.

And he commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of the living and the dead. To him give all the prophets witness that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins. While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all them which heard the word. And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Spirit. For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnified God, then answered Peter, Can any man forbid water that these should not be baptized which have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days. And I'm concluding with the reading here in Acts chapter 10 because I want to focus today in this ministry meeting on the fact that Peter is used here by God in the power of the Spirit of God to unlock, if you will, to open the door to the Gentiles in this world, in the foundation of the assembly of the church 2,000 years ago when the church, the assembly began. Now just to take us back for a moment to the previous verses which we have looked over in the last meeting together, you remember how interesting it was how the Spirit of God has worked.

The same Holy Spirit of God that worked in the heart of Cornelius in the city of Caesarea is the same Holy Spirit, the same Lord who worked in the heart and the mind of Peter in the city of Yafo. Here we see the way God is working. He is convicting an individual in one town, in one city, and he's speaking to his servants in another location. And then lo and. Behold, they meet each other and the message of the apostle to Cornelius and his family now can be proclaimed this is exactly what happened in the world today we sometimes wonder how is it that there is a possibility there is a person in africa or wherever it is in a faraway land that has a desire to learn of the things of God and at the same time you have another person or a local church or local assembly that have an exercise a burden to send a missionary a servant to another country to share the message of the gospel it is the Spirit of God who is working in the heart and consciences of individuals to bring about the meeting time the meeting place the meeting with the people to meet them together in order that the message of the gospel will be proclaimed well here what happened Cornelius sent the messengers to Petros to Peter in Yafo Peter kept them with him until the next morning and he had gone back to the house of Cornelius in the city of Caesarea and there you remember.

Peter had never entered into a home that is not a Jewish home here Peter had to learn now that the gospel though it started in Jerusalem and in Judea and in Samaria but it ultimately has to be reached to the uttermost part of this earth Like we have in Acts chapter 1 and verse 8. And so Peter now had to learn not to call unclean that which God had cleansed. Not to call uncommon that which the Lord had called common. And so now he had gone to the house of Cornelius. And you can just imagine what a privilege. He's coming there. He's entering into the house. And look what Cornelius said to him just the previous verse before we have read here in verse 34.

Notice it says in verse 33 immediately therefore I sent for you Peter and you have done well that you have come and now look what he says therefore we are all here in the presence of God ready to hear all the things that God have commended you I tell you what it must have been at that time to see a group of people eagerly sitting and waiting to hear the message that was given to Peter by the Lord Yeshua waiting eagerly sitting with their families and the children and the neighbors in the house of Cornelius what a sight it must have been you know we long to see a sight like this today where you can come to a place that people will invite you says listen a certain brother whoever it is a servant of the Lord we want to hear about the Lord we want to hear about Yeshua the Messiah we want to hear about God we want you to open to unfold to us the word of God unfortunately you.

Don't hear it as much as we would like to hear it these days but look the setting Peter didn't have to go and gather anyone he didn't have to go to preach in the streets and go to the highways and the byway and bring everybody no everything was set and ready for Peter to give the message of the word of God and people were ready they were eager to hear the word they were willing to sit and listen to what God has for this man of God to say to them and Lord Peter come to this place and now beloved brothers and sisters Peter is going to use the key that was given to him by Yeshua the Messiah to unlock, to open the door, this time he's going to open the door to the Gentiles I want to just for a moment just read this verse in Matthew chapter 16 and verse 19, the first part of verse 19 where Yeshua said to him I will give unto you the keys of the kingdom of heaven and whatsoever thou.

Shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven and whatsoever thou shall loose on air shall be loosened in heaven in Matthew chapter 16 and verse 19 after the declaration that Yeshua is the Messiah the son of the living God Yeshua gave to Peter the keys to open the door to his own brethren the Jewish people to open the door to the samaritans and now to open the door to the Gentile world and so here is the way Peter is now using the key first of all you notice in verse 34 Peter began to proclaim very nicely he says now in verse 34 of act 10 then Peter opened his mouth and he said of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons you see he had to learn that God has no respect to persons there is a heart of an individual that is willing to listen to him he going to open the door to bring them the message God has no respect of person yes of course we know that when it's come to election of the nation of.

Israel God has chosen Abraham from among the nations Abraham and Isaac and Jacob to make out of them a nation he has chosen he has elected Abraham and his descendants but obviously by his election of Abraham he had in mind that through the family of Abraham Isaac Jacob Israel the nation the preaching of the gospel the preaching of God's word will go through the whole nations of the world and so God is no respect of persons if a person has a desire to hear the word of God God is always willing to reach that person and bring him to himself so Peter says right away in verse 34 he says listen God is no respecter of persons all have sinned and come short of the glory of God all have a need of redemption of salvation of forgiveness of sins all of us we have all inherited this Adamic nature when Adam sinned I sinned when Adam sinned you sin Adam's bringing the whole human race into sin this is exactly what happened to you and I every person that.

Was born into this world is in a need of a Redeemer in his life and so he says God is no respect of person notice in verse 35 he continues and he says that God accepts everyone that fear him that believes on him verse 35 he says but in every nation he that feareth him and worketh righteousness is accepted with him some people make mistake when they say one have to fear God and live a righteous life, in other words, never have fallen, in other words, live a perfect life, then God will receive him. No, the truth here in the Scripture is that, first of all, one has to fear God, to have reverence to God and to believe God's word.

And after he has accepted the gospel, he becomes a believer in Yeshua the Messiah, then he should seek to live a righteous life. He doesn't live a righteous life in order to be saved, but he lives a righteous life because he is saved, because he has accepted Yeshua the Messiah. So in every nation, he that fear God, fear him and worketh righteousness, is accepted with God. God accepts a person from all the nations of the world if he simply will have the fear of God, the reverence of God, and ultimately will accept him and trust him and follow after him. And so Peter is now telling that God does not only have no respect of person, but he is also saying that God is accepting everyone that will accept him and that we believe in him and trust him and bring him into a relationship with himself.

So next, in verses 36 to 41, Peter now presents Yeshua to the family of Cornelius. And notice what he does here. He speaks here about the life, the death, and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, the Messiah. He is expressing here the simple gospel. Yeshua, the Messiah, lived a perfect life. He died a substitutionary death, and he rose from among the dead. That's the gospel. And that's what he does here when he's presenting this message to the family of Cornelius in a gentle home. That's what he does and he began in these verses verses 36 to 41 he began first of all in verse 36 that showing how the word came to this world that it came through the nation of Israel you see he says in verse 36 the word which God sent unto the children of Israel preaching peace shalom preaching shalom by Yeshua the Messiah that he is Lord of all the first thing that he's saying listen this is not new the new thing here is of course that the Messiah came to finish the work but what already have been told by the prophets of all that the Messiah will come God through his servants the prophets of Israel have already declared the word that there will come a time where God is intending.

To make peace here in this world peace with God peace of God that will come through the person of Yeshua the Messiah so notice he used the word he's using the Scripture he said the word which God sent unto the children you know it is important brothers and sisters to recognize Why do we believe God? Because we have it written in His Word. That's the only ground which we can stand upon. There's a song that often children sing in various church groups. They said, you know, that they know that they are saved because the Bible tells them that. Because the Word of God is saying, Jesus, oh Yeshua, love me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

So, the Word of God is important for us. We cannot shift, we cannot deviate from the Scripture. In the Word of God, we have the truth that God wants to proclaim to mankind. So, he sent the Word of God through the nation of Israel, and you notice that he said, preaching peace, preaching shalom. You know, how do you make peace with men? When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, Sin broke shalom, broke peace. There was no longer harmony between a holy God and a sinful man. And so in order for God to bring about shalom, he had to do something to meet the need of a sinful man.

And so he preached shalom, he preached peace through Yeshua, the Messiah. Because God had intended in a time past to send the Messiah of Israel to this world to make peace between a holy God and a sinful man. So the price had to be paid. And that's why the name of Yeshua is mentioned here in verse 36. Preaching peace by Yeshua the Messiah. Beautiful to see that here in these verses. Just go back for a moment to Luke chapter 2. Just a verse or two there in the Gospel of Luke. If you remember when Yeshua was born and came to this world, in the Gospel of Luke we read, listen, Luke chapter 2 and verse 14.

Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, shalom, good will toward men. You notice that? When the Messiah came to this world and those angels were singing, the multitude of angels were singing, this heavenly host, what they were singing, they were saying, glory to God, but peace on earth, goodwill towards men. They were singing because finally the Messiah came. The promised peace that God desired to have between himself and mankind is finally coming about. The Messiah is coming to make peace between a holy God and a sinful man. And so that's why he's saying in verse 36, God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching shalom by Yeshua the Messiah.

He is Lord of all. Then he continued. And he's saying now in verse 37 that this message is now published not only in Israel but going to continue to publish through the rest of this world and it says in verse 37 that word I say you know which was published throughout all Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism which John had preached you see he's saying here that the same message it was proclaimed already by the old testament prophets is the message that now have been published to all judea and from Galilee and after the baptism which John had preached you remember when John the baptizer was in the jordan river and Yeshua the Messiah came down to be baptized by him and remember there was the pharisees who came and many who came down from Jerusalem to jordan and John had to tell them he had to warn them that they need to bring fruit for repentance they needed to repent because the Messiah is coming and the Messiah is now is going to accomplish peace and yet they needed to have.

Fruit for repentance they needed to repent before God and to acknowledge that the Messiah has come and so it was published Yeshua came already he lived his life here in this world and he finished the work and now it was published throughout Judea in Galilee and everybody heard of the work that Yeshua the Messiah have done and so that's what he's saying in verses 36 and 37 it is the word of God that was now published already throughout the land and now in verses 38 to 41 he gives us the four parts of the gospel the life of the Messiah the death of the Messiah the resurrection of the Messiah and the revealing of the Messiah to his disciples before he ascended to heaven the life of the Messiah the death of the Messiah and the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah this is what we have here in the next verses and here he began first of all with verse 38 and verse 39a and notice he says here how God anointed Yeshua of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power.

Who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. So he began to present to Cornelius and his family the life of the Messiah. You know, if we want to know who Yeshua is, we want to know what kind of life he lived. And you know, the life that he lived, brothers and sisters, is a life that was impeccable. A holy life a pure life a life that was sin apart without any sin in his life that's the kind of life Yeshua have lived and so he was anointed by God in Hebrew Mashiach he was the anointed of God the Spirit of God anointed him and he lived a life that was a perfect life here in this world you know what attracted us to him is a kind of life that he lived later on we have been attracted to what he have accomplished on the tree as well but when we look at the Lord and his life we are amazed at his life you just read the four gospel Matthew Mark Luke and John and you see how the Hebrew evangelist if you will present the person of the Messiah in his life Matthew look at him as the king of Israel Mark look at him as the servant of the Lord Luke present him as the perfect man and John present him as the eternal son of God and you watch him in his life.

And you see the kind of life that he lived you know it says here in this verse who went about doing good every step he took in his life Yeshua did nothing else but good every word he spoke it was a word of comfort and encouragement to mankind he went about doing good everywhere he went he was in contrast to any other human being that ever entered into this world even though great men like our forefathers Abraham King David and the lawgiver Moshe Rabbeinu though they were great men but they never matched the life of the men by the name of Yeshua from Nazareth impeccable life a perfect life and he went about doing good as we read here in this verse 38 we also read that he was healing all that were oppressed of the devil brothers and sisters you see the devil Satan already from Genesis 3 right in the beginning when man was created in the garden of eden he have already there caused emotional and spiritual.

Sicknesses that came into this world where we read that the man was oppressed of the devil you remember how he challenged Eve he said or has God really said and now Eve instead of listening to the counsel of God through her husband have taken of the fruit of the tree the knowledge of good and evil and she ended up giving to her husband and her husband have also disobeyed God and plunged the human race into sin right from the garden of eden in Genesis chapter 3 man was oppressed by Satan and his activities and you can see it from the garden of eden all throughout the ages even in this present day we can see the attacks of the devil of Satan and his works here in this world to draw man the human race away after him and that's why we can see the condition that existing today in this world Satan according to Scripture is the God the small g the god of this world has blinded the mind of them that believe not lest they will believe on this.

Glorious gospel of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah this is in second corinthian chapter 4 though what we see here that Peter is telling cornelius and his family that Yeshua went about doing good things healing not only physical healing but emotional and spiritual healing all the one that were oppressed by the devil and we read of him from the beginning of Genesis chapter 3 all the way to the end in Revelation chapter 20 when even brothers and sisters after the millennial age after a thousand years of peace upon the face of this earth Yeshua reigning over his people Israel a beautiful messianic age and at the end of the thousand years Satan going to be loosed for a little while and what you think he's going to do he's going to continue with the same activity of what we read here in verse 38, oppressing mankind.

And he will rally after him, the youth movement at the end of Revelation chapter 20 will cause them to follow after him and to go against God and his people Israel at the end of the millennial age. So Satan had so much time allowed by God to cause all sorts of oppression against men, against the human race. But the contrast is Yeshua the Messiah. In his life, the short life he lived of 33 years or so, he went about doing good. And then he have healed all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him God the father guided his son the Messiah here on earth and he was with him and he used him so you can see here the life of the Lord Jesus the Messiah who was anointed by the Lord could you please for a moment turn with me to Isaiah chapter 42 the first four verses let me just read them about the servant the Messiah the servant of the Lord in his life Isaiah prophesied concerning the life of the Messiah and Isaiah said in verse 1 God is speaking behold my servant whom i uphold mine elect in whom my soul delight i have put my spirit upon him and he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles he shall not cry nor lift nor cause his voice to be heard in the street a bruised reed shall he not break and a smoking flax shall he not quench he shall bring forth justice unto the earth he.

Shall not fail nor be discouraged till he have set judgment in the earth and the isles shall wait for his law see already 750 years prior to the birth of the Messiah Isaiah was used by God to present the servant the kind of life that he's going to live the life that will be honoring to the Lord that's what Isaiah said in chapter 42 just one more verse in chapter 61 of Isaiah again i would like you to see brothers and sisters the kind of life that Yeshua have lived it says in chapter 61 verse 1 the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to the captives and to the opening of the prison to them that are bound you see that's what the Lord have done now is speaking about his life we're going to talk about his death in a moment.

But in his life it says here that he came to this world to bind up the brokenhearted and to open the prison to them that are spiritually bound man is bound by Satan to sin and the darkness and when the Messiah came he gave liberty he liberated mankind and he still does that today through his finished work on the tree for us you notice he says to bring good tidings unto the meek to bind the brokenhearted to proclaim liberty to them that are captive you know people are captive today to sin then they need liberty and it is only can come through Yeshua the Messiah who came down to this world to finish the work on the tree but in his life i'm specifically speaking here in verse 38 of our chapter in his life this person by the name of Yeshua from Nazareth went about doing good healing all that were oppressed of the devil for God was with him and he continued here in verse 39 Peter he says we are witnesses of all these things which he did.

Both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem so Peter is saying listen we have been his witnesses we walked with him we saw what he did in his life we saw the kind of life that he lived and so he did it in the land of the Jewish people and in the city of Jerusalem we saw it we observed it we have walked with him here in this world and so he was presenting this beautiful life of Yeshua the Messiah here upon the face of this earth but he doesn't stop here even if Yeshua have lived a perfect life and have done good on every hand it would never avail for salvation because in order for him to save a sinful world he must pay the penalty for sin and that's why he's saying in the next verse verse 39b about his death and so we read here very simple words but very profound because it says whom they slew and hanged on a tree now you see Peter again it is not the first.

Time it must have been his fourth or fifth time that he put the responsibility upon his own brethren his own nation why it was not the Jewish people who put Jesus on a tree it was the Romans who did that. It was not the Jewish leaders who had placed him on a cross. No, it was a Roman way of execution. But you see, there is an element of responsibility that Peter identified with himself and the nation because the leaders of the nation of Israel did not accept the Messiahship of Yeshua. And there is an element of responsibility. You see, Israel is a privileged nation but privilege does not go along without responsibility and so there is an element of responsibility and that's why brothers and sisters when the leaders of Israel said his blood will come upon us and upon our children in a sense it was like a prophetic word that they were saying listen when he dies there will be an element of consequences you know when Israel did not.

Accept Yeshua the Messiah God who is a holy God who have chosen our nation to be a favored nation he also is expecting from the nation to accept his word and to submit to what he said and when Israel as a nation did not accept the Messiah they have bought the consequences in many ways look at our nation today look at the two thousand years of history of our own nation is scattered all over the world dispersed to every nation oftentimes hated and persecuted by the nations of the world and if you and i will understand you will see that God gave Israel the element of responsibility he says if you will believe and obey my word there will be blessing but if you will not obey my word there will be cursing and judgment and you can see sadly to say and i know it grieves the heart of God who love Israel when his own people are scattered and dispersed and persecuted over the years and we can look at the history and look what even going on in this present.

Day Israel without Messiah has no shalom no peace no satisfaction because there is that lack of having the king Mashiach reigning over the nation bringing them back into a relationship with God but it hadn't happened yet it will happen praise God God's word will come to pass he will restore our nation back to himself but in the meanwhile the very same God who is a loving God is also a holy and a just God and so look Peter in a sense says whom they have hanged a slew and hang on a tree i would like once again to mention they did not slay Jesus it was the Roman who executed him but there is an element of responsibility that the nation of Israel bear because as the leaders did not led the rest of the nation to accept Yeshua the Messiah and so he died a shameful death he died brothers and sisters when we think about how the Lord died when he was lifted up between heaven and earth in between two malefactors you read about it in.

Luke chapter 22 and 23 what a shameful death he died there on the tree they mocked at him They laughed at him. They railed at him. Even the two malefactors railed at him. We read it in the Gospel of Matthew until one of them recognized that he was a just man. But oh, what a shameful death he died. And the Bible tells us in various passages that he died the just for the unjust in order to bring us to God. We were the unjust, the sinners. He was the just one and he paid the penalty for our sin when he died for us on that tree where God have laid upon him the iniquity of us all.

A shameful death he died. But thank God he was not left on the cross. He did not only remain dead because the next verse, you notice that in verse 40a, the first part of verse 40 we read about his resurrection and look at this he says him this is Yeshua him God raised up on the third day the same God who judged him for the sin of this world is the same God who raised him from among the dead and the importance of the resurrection in the gospel it is essential and important because if Yeshua remained dead and not rose from among the dead we would not have a living Savior but because his resurrection the fact that he was raised God was satisfied God's requirement from men with respect to sin have been met when Yeshua died on the tree but God now had been pleased with his work and he raised him from among the dead and the resurrection of the Messiah tells us that God is satisfied totally satisfied with the work of Yeshua any sinner today who are now coming to God by faith in Yeshua the Messiah.

The proof of the satisfaction of God with respect to sin is the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah. Paul, in his word, said this like this. The Apostle Paul Shaul said it at the end, the last verse of Romans chapter 4, verse 25. He was delivered for our offenses, but he was raised for our justification. God can declare the believer in Yeshua the Messiah justified that's why the resurrection is so important and so look his life verse 38 and 39a his death verse 39b his resurrection is in verse 40 the first part of this verse and then finally he is now in verse 40b in verse 41 he is now showing him openly revealing the Messiah after his resurrection notice i'm reading now in verse 40b and he showed him openly not to all the people but unto witnesses chosen before of God even to us who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead you see now what happened is that God had shown, revealed Yeshua to the believers.

By the way, no unbelievers have seen Yeshua after his resurrection. But those that have seen Yeshua the Messiah, those were his disciples and followers who have seen him. You remember, we've talked about it in our Bible classes, John chapter 20 and 21. Thomas was not at a meeting on the first day of the week, in the Shabbat evening, first day of the week, Saturday night, which is the first day of the week after sundown. Thomas was not there that evening. The disciple says, we have seen the Lord. And he says, I will not believe it until I'll see him and I will handle him with my hands.

So the following first day of the week, Yeshua comes again and he says to Thomas, Thomas, reach your hand and touch me. Touch my side. But Thomas didn't even get to do that he fell on his face and he says my Lord and my God Yeshua revealed himself to the disciples after his resurrection and that's what Peter is saying now to Cornelius and his family he says listen he had been revealed not to everyone but to those So, he was living a pure life, he died a substitutionary death, he rose for our justification, and he was seen by the early disciples after his resurrection. And that's by the way brothers and sisters is the gospel when we preach and we share the gospel we have to make sure that we speak about the life of the Lord the sinless life the death of the Lord the substitutionary death and the resurrection of Yeshua the Messiah this is the fundamental truth of the gospel and one must believe in this in order for one to receive forgiveness of sins well let's wrap it up now towards the end here now and so we read in verse 42 and verse 43 we read of the commission that the apostles have received from the Lord in verse 42 Peter says he this is God this is the Lord Yeshua commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of the living and the dead you see the same Jesus the same Yeshua that was as a lamb led to the slaughter he's going to be the judge and one that refused to accept him at the foot of the cross.

Will have to accept him at the great white throne judgment you see there is no fence we cannot sit on the fence. We are either in or out. We are either saved or lost. We are either believers or unbelievers. We either go to heaven or we go to the lake of fire. There is no in between. The same one that was hanged on a tree is the same one that became the judge of the living and the dead. And that's why it is important to make sure that we come to him at the foot of the tree and tell him, Lord, have mercy on me God be merciful to me a sinner to him we read in verse 43 give all the prophets witness that through his name whomsoever believeth in him shall receive forgiveness of sins you see the prophets of Israel have already witnessed concerning the Messiah Isaiah we read already Isaiah in chapter 42 in chapter 61 we can also read in chapter 45 that Isaiah speaking all the end of the earth come to me God is speaking of himself that he is the answer for man's sin that's why the prophet was speaking already long ago that through his name whosoever shall believe in him shall receive forgiveness of sins what a truth to learn brothers and sisters and friends to have forgiveness of sins all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God and to have our sins forgiven it's a relief it's like a load coming down from our shoulders because.

God can now justify us forgive us our sins on the basis of the finished work of Yeshua the Messiah well that's what Peter did he preached the gospel he used the key to open the door to the Gentile world at the house of cornelius and so look what happened in conclusion from verse 44 to the end of the chapter we have the Gentile salvation and the spirit baptism we read immediately in verse 44 the holy Spirit came upon them look it says and while Peter spake these words he didn't even finish he was just in a process of preaching the messiahship of Yeshua he was presenting the message of the gospel while he was speaking at the same time the Spirit of God the holy Spirit fell upon them which heard the word now let me tell you that the Spirit of God falling there in act chapter 10 upon those that were in the house of cornelius because they have embraced the message they've accepted the fact that Yeshua is the promised Redeemer they have embraced the.

Truth of the word that was presented to them here by the apostle Peter and so you can see hear what you call a spirit baptism we'll talk about water baptism in a moment but here we see the holy Spirit of God the word baptize baptizo come from the Greek to mean to deep to put under it is the word that's speaking but God placed them into the body of Messiah he has sealed them by the holy Spirit of God he has placed them in the body of Messiah they heard the word faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God and so he baptized them in the holy Spirit of God and placed them in the body of Messiah now not only the Jewish people act chapter 2 not only the samaritans act chapter 8 now also the Gentile as well in act chapter 10 just please bear with me go to first Corinthians chapter 12 for a moment i want to read two verses there first Corinthians chapter 12 and verse 12 and 13 we read for as the body is.

One and has many members and all the members of that one body being many are one body so also is the Messiah is Christos Christ and then verse 13 for by one spirit we are all baptized into one body whether we be Jews or Gentiles whether we be bond or free and have all made to drink into that one spirit that's what we read here very clearly that the same Holy Spirit of God that fell upon the Jewish believers in Acts chapter 2? The same Holy Spirit of God that fell upon the Samaritan in Acts chapter 8 is the same Holy Spirit of God that fell upon the Gentiles in Acts chapter 10.

And now they are all part of the very same body, that one body that Paul mentioned in 1 Corinthians chapter 12 and verses 12 and 13. And so the baptism of the Holy Spirit, the placing them under and into the body of Messiah now as believers it is the first time brothers and sisters where the Gentile world are now no longer to become in a sense Jewish or to become Hebrew to become a porcelain any individual from among the Gentile world wherever he or she is the moment they have accepted Yeshua the Messiah the Spirit of God take residence in them and they become part of the body of the Messiah and it started right here so look what happened in verses 45 and 46 the Jewish believers that came with Peter were astonished they didn't understand what's happening here it says in verse 45 day of the circumcision these are the other six individuals that Peter brought with him when he went to the house of cornelius those that believed they were astonished as many as came with Peter because of the Gentile also the holy Spirit of God was poured and the gift of the holy.

Spirit came upon them they were astonished they were amazed you know they thought that the way things used to be it is through the nation of Israel and in other words the Gentiles right now the same holy Spirit of God now fell upon the Gentiles who believe in the Messiah and they become part of the body co-equal with the Jewish believers and what an amazement so they were astonished they said how is it possible notice verse 46 they heard them speaks with tongues and magnify God now here again i would like us to be clear when it says here they heard them speak with tongues i would like to suggest to you brothers and sisters the Greek word here glossa is clear language that known to other men or other people in this world and so when they heard them speaking and magnifying God in another language it is exactly what happened in act chapter 2 when the Jewish believers in the Messiah they received the holy Spirit of God and they also spoke in other languages and it's been named there 13 or.

14 languages in act chapter 2 it was a clear message what do you think they were using those languages for to magnify God to praise the Messiah to present him before someone and that word the thought of tongue you know when you and i let's say if we want to go today to preach to a nation in the world like let's say another country in this world then we will take a course of two three years we learn the language and we're going to go so we'll be able to make sense to preach the message of the gospel to tell them about the love of God the grace of God the salvation that can be provided by God so we will take a course and then we can go to the mission field but in their case it was a supernatural gift from God to be able to speak in another language without to go to any university to learn the language it was clear-cut message beloved brothers we need to.

Learn a simple word from the Lord we don't need anything that is wishy-washy it is a clear message from the word of God and you notice it says that they magnified God that's what the Jewish believers, they magnify, they praise God for what He has done for them. And so, notice now, immediately in verse 46, the spirit baptism, which follow up with water baptism. Because immediately, the last verses here, Peter answers verse 46 and verse 47, he says, Can any man forbid water, that these should be baptized, which have received the Holy Spirit, just as we did? In other words, now, Those Gentile believers accepted Yeshua. And now they need to identify with Him in death, burial, and resurrection.

And so you see, they have first of all received spirit baptism. They have accepted the Lord. They have received the Holy Spirit of God. And now it's followed by believers' baptism. As believers now, they wanted to identify with the Lord. Peter says listen is there any reason why they should not be baptized just as we did because they received the Holy Spirit of God just like we did and then notice in conclusion and he commended them to be baptized in the name of the Lord see they were baptized now in the name of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah water baptism followed spirit baptism and then in conclusion after all this have happened then Cornelius and his family besieged Peter Peter stayed with us a little bit longer stay a little bit longer here is the bond that have happened now the brothers and sisters from Jewish nation Peter and those that came along with him Cornelius a Gentile and his family and those neighbors now have entered into that relationship within the body of Messiah, united together, and they beseech him, Peter, stay a little bit longer with us.

And I enjoy that oftentimes in ministry, when we go to minister the Word in various locations, oftentimes the brothers and sisters ask you to stay a little bit longer, stay with us, spend some time with us, have some time with us here, and it's so wonderful, the fellowship that believers can enjoy because they are part of the family and the house of God this is the thought that we have here in Acts chapter 10 and from here on brothers and sisters now the body of Messiah is a composition of Jew and Gentile who have entered into the body simply on the basis of the grace of God through the finished work of Yeshua the Messiah on the tree and that's how the body began and from here on here you are you and I for 1,000th of years already, 2,000 years, we are part of this great body of Messiah waiting for the day when Yeshua is going to come to take us to be with Him at home.
