Shabbat Shalom everyone. Will you please turn your Bibles to the second epistle of Shimon Petros, chapter 1, and we will begin our reading today with verse 12 to verse 21, and we'll seek to conclude this first chapter of 2 Peter. I'm going to read these verses and then we'll go through portion, verse by verse, we'll see what the Lord has for us. 2 Peter 1 verse 12, wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth. Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance, knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Yeshua the Messiah has showed me.

Moreover, I will endeavor that ye may be able, after my decease, to have these things always in remembrance. For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. And this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with him in the holy mount. We have also a more sure word of prophecy, whereunto ye do well that ye take heed as unto a light that shineth in a dark place until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts.

Knowing this, first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in all time by the will of men, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit. That is the end of the first chapter of the second letter that Peter wrote. Now, remember, brothers and sisters, that Peter, his Hebrew name is Shimon. His Greek name is Petros, the name that Yeshua had given to him. Shimon Petros was a man that wrote to Jewish believers. He was one of these early messianic Jewish people who believed that Yeshua is the Messiah, who said in Matthew chapter 16, He was called by Yeshua to become a servant, become an apostle, and now we find him living as we have read at the end of the fifth chapter of the first epistle, he was in Babylon, with the Jewish community who was there at that time after the persecution of the early Jewish believers.

And he was writing now the second epistle to these Jewish believers, and he's of course writing to you and I as well. And he wrote the first epistle in order to remind them that the Messiah's suffering has happened, and one day he's going to come in his glory and power. Now he's writing the second epistle, and as I mentioned already in the previous message, in the second letter that Shimon Petros is writing to those Hebrew believers, he did not so much mention the sufferings of the Messiah, but he mentioned there the time that he's going to come in his second coming in glory and power.

But until he's coming, he's giving an encouragement to the believers. Number one, we have covered in the first 11 verses, the necessity for every believer in our lord jesus the messiah to know the messiah more and more and to grow spiritually the second reason is to give them a red light or a warning that sooner or later false teachers will creep in just the same like false teachers or false prophets were risen in our own nation's history he says now in the present day of the church dispensation there will be false teachers who will rise and one have to be very careful to focus on the word of God and to believe and to trust in what God says in his word so if you remember in the first 11 verses he told them that they have received many promises notice verse 4 of chapter 1 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises.

Many promises have been given to the believers. He also said that God had given the believers in verse 3 of chapter 1, all things that pertain to life and godliness. In other words, none of us is exempt. Every believer have all that is needed for us to live a godly life. When we don't live a godly life, and unfortunately we don't at times, it's not the fault of God.

it's not the fault of the messiah it's not the fault of the holy spirit it's our very own fault it's the fault of this old sinful nature which we still have even as believers so he's told them in the first earlier verses of the importance of maturity and growing and learning more about yeshua the messiah and you remember those seven qualities that he said to them in the previous verses he said to them beside all this verse five giving all diligence to add to your faith you're a believer yes you have accepted Yeshua the Messiah yes you are positionally a child of God yes well add to your faith what he says first of all

virtue verse five then to virtue knowledge in verse five then in verse six to knowledge temperance to temperance patience in verse six to patience godliness in verse 6 and then in verse 7 to godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love and he gave us those seven graces that we are to build upon as we are walking with the lord here in this world and that's how a believer become mature and useful and fruitful because if we don't have those things he said this in the next verse you are barren you remember that in verse 8, for if these things be in you, you are bound.

They make you that ye shall be not barren. And you know, to be barren, as I mentioned in our previous ministry meeting, is when there is no fruit in the life of a believer. That's rather very sad. When a believer who has been receiving forgiveness of sins do not have fruit in his or her life, it's to our own loss.

The Lord does not receive the glory that he deserves and we do not receive the blessing that God is intending to have for us so this is what we have had in the previous verses now Peter very interesting he knows that his time on this earth is very short you remember we said the first epistle he wrote about 60 AD the second epistle he wrote about 66 AD we have about six years passed between one letter to another and now he's time to depart he's getting to be old man and he knows that he's going to die and so in the first verses in verses 12 13 14 and 15 peter now seek to be

faithful to give a reminder to believers that he loves so much certain things before he's going to die you know just like a father or a mother who getting up in age and love their children and what do they tell him listen son listen daughter i tell you here's some things that you need to remember because it will do you well do you good it will be a blessing for you and so he began notice now brothers and sisters in verse 12 peter seeks to be faithful always to remind the believers and he's saying to them in verse 12 wherefore wherefore means in light of what i've already told you in the previous verses that

you need to add to your faith all these seven qualities in your life in light of this i will not be negligent verse 12 to put you always in remembrance of these things though ye know them and be established in the present truth peter saying to them you know i'm not going to neglect to be faithful to tell you again and again that you will be reminded of what I've told you before.

Now, you might say, Peter, it's redundant. Why do you have to tell these people again and again things that they've already know that? Well, Peter, remember, he was Jewish. He was a Hebrew man. From a Hebrew experience in biblical time, repetition is something that always has been given to our people. God has taught Israel, our nation, repeatedly, again and again, remember, remember where you came from, remember what I've done for you, remember, remember, he constantly reminded Israel, because Israel had been a forgetful nation, they forgot where they came from.

We too, the church, the body of Messiah, are forgetful as well, we are forgetful people, so peter faithfully he's saying to the believers he says listen i will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance by the way if you go to the rabbinical schools today in the header what we would call in hebrew where the rabbis will teach the younger boys there to study the scripture you will notice how many times they repeat the verses the text to each other they will actually have a dialogue two boys will speak with each other or two men and there's a constant dialogue between the two constant rehearsing of the very same text to each other

and this is very interesting because that puts these words the text from the scripture sink it in your mind many of these jewish young men sometimes even young women they are so eloquent in remembrance of text in the bible it's unbelievable once a year there is something in israel that we call chidon hatanach haolami there is a worldwide test and it's televised and you would come and you will see how they ask them questions that found in first chronicle chapter three and in second samuel chapter one and these boys and girls amazingly tell you the answers they quote the text where did they learn that from repetition constantly reminder and that's why we beloved brothers

and sisters need constantly to be under the sound of the word of God not only to remember this in our head but also to remember in our hearts what the Messiah have done for us the precious blood that he shed for us the forgiveness that he provided for us the love of God that is so great towards us, because if we are not hearing it again and again, we forget, we say, God, I will talk to you later.

I am so busy with my own self and my own problems. I don't need you right now in my life. That's the way we are. And so Peter was faithful. Remember, he's getting up in age. He knows he's going to leave this scene soon. So he's very faithful, and he's reminding those hebrew believers if you turn for a second to philippians chapter 3 verse 1 the apostle paul said the same thing to the philippians he said to them in chapter 3 and verse 1 finally my brethren rejoice in the lord and then notice to write the same thing to you to me indeed is not grievous but for you it is safe Paul is saying to the Philippians you know for me to write the same things to you for me indeed it's not grievous I need to do so I know it's the right thing to do but for you it is for your safety for your protection that's what Paul Shaul said to the philippians that's what peter shimon peto saying to the early hebrew believers to whom he wrote and so in verse 12 peter seeks to be faithful to remind always those believers among whom god called him to serve notice in verse 13 peter stirred god's people as long as he was in this body in this tabernacle notice he's saying he used the word tabernacle here yeah i think it admit, as long that I'm in this tabernacle, when he used the word tabernacle, you know, the body that we have, it's like a tent, tabernacle.

And in this body, the spirit and the soul are resting. They are in that body. The body is only the house that housed the spirit and the soul of every individual. So Peter is saying to them, listen, I think it's suitable, admit, as long that I'm in this sukkah, this tabernacle, this tent, to stir you up, putting you in remembrance. As long that I am alive, that's what he's really saying, as long that God is giving me strength and allowing me to be here in this body before I pass away, before I die, as long that I am in this body, it is suitable to stir you up.

You know, this is the responsibility of every teacher of the Bible, to stir up the people of God. Not to stir them up for conflict with each other, God forbid, but to stir them up, to feed them, to give them food, whether it is for babies, milk. Whether it is for adults, meat or strong food. To meet the need, to minister the word, and the word is none else but the blessed person of Yeshua, our Lord Jesus, the Messiah. He is the one, he is the milk, he is the meat, he is the source of blessing. And so he says, listen, as long as I'm in this tabernacle, this is very interesting because that word for tabernacle, in Hebrew we call it sukkah, a tent, it speaks also of a feast that is going to come in a future day called the feast of tabernacle, the feast of Sukkot.

And the feast of Sukkot is not only a yearly feast that we jewish people celebrate every year but it is prophetically speaking about the time of the kingdom age where the messiah will reign as king of kings and lord of lord as we just read in zechariah chapter 14 where all the nations will come to celebrate the feast of sukkot the feast of tabernacle but at the moment he applied his tabernacle to the tent to his body which housed the houses the spirit and the soul of every person now in verse 14 he continued and i want you to notice that peter knew very well that he must die very soon that's why he says in verse 14 knowing that shortly I must put off my tabernacle.

Even as our Lord Yeshua the Messiah has showed this unto me, what he's really saying, you know what? I know that I'm going to die very shortly. I know that. How do I know that? Peter, how did you know it? Well, I know it because the Messiah Yeshua told me before he left. He told me what is going to happen to me. He knew that he's going to become a martyr not only a person who would get up in age and pass away but he knew very well that he's going to die as a martyr for the name of our lord yeshua the messiah please turn with me to the gospel of john chapter 21 just before yeshua was going to depart and go back to glory to heaven after the resurrection of the messiah you remember peter needed to be restored to the messiah publicly because just previously he denied yeshua three times so the lord wanted to restore him publicly with the disciples to be right in their midst so in john chapter 21 and verse 15 so when they have died yeshua saith unto shimon unto simon peter simon bar yona lovest thou me more than these he said unto him in verse 15 lord you knowest that i lovest out me and he says unto him feed my lambs verse 16 he says unto him again the second time simon bar yona lovest thou me and he says unto him yes lord thou knowest that i love thee he says unto him feed my sheep verse 17 he says unto him the third time shimon son of yona Lovest thou me?

Peter was grieved. Because he saith unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he saith unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things. Thou knowest that I love thee. Yeshua said to him, Feed my sheep. So Yeshua publicly restored Shimon Petrus before the disciples, but he didn't stop there. In verse 18 and 19, look what he said to him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, When you were young, you gird yourself, and you walkest whither thou wouldst. But when thou shalt be old, thou shalt stretch forth thine hands, and another shall gird thee, and carry thee whither thou would not want to go. This spake he, this is Yeshua, signifying by what?

Death. He, that is Shimon Petros, would glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, follow me. Here is Yeshua, before he had been taken up to glory, restored Shimon Petros, and he said to him, Shimon Petros, do you love me? Do you love me more than this? He said to him, then I want you to feed, to take care of the flock that belonged to me, belonged to the Lord.

shimon petros being faithful to seek to feed the people of god that's why he's writing those epistles but he remembered that one time the lord told him when you were young you went where you wanted and you did what you want but now when you're going to get old you're going to stretch your hands and you're going to be taken to where you would not want to go and this he spoke this concerning the death that Shimon Petros will experience and then he said to him you follow me and so Shimon Petros knew very well that he's going to become a martyr he's going to become a servant that gave his life for the sake

of the messiah here in this world we have learned from history that many suggest that Shimon Petros died by crucifixion and because he loved the messiah so much he said i'm not worthy to die in the same way that he died and he requested to be hung upside down and he gave up his life for the master he became one of these hebrew martyrs of earlier century peter knew that he must die soon on a basis of what yeshua have told him in john chapter 21 so he anticipated his death but until he dies he sought to be faithful in giving the word in sharing the message in encouraging the believer in being as it

says many times here i put you always in remembrance because i'm gonna leave soon i want you to sink what i say to you in your own hearts and conscience so you can carry the baton so you can carry this on to somebody else so you can be faithful in the coming days when the servant of the lord is going to be away from them and you know paul have done the very same thing when he anticipated his death if you remember what paul said in second timothy chapter 4 before he died in verse 6 he said i am now ready to be offered and the time of my departure is at hand i have

fought a good fight i have finished my course i have kept the faith henceforth they're laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the lord the righteous judge shall give me at that day and not only to me but unto all them that love is appearing.

You know, I love this because here's two Jewish men who became both of them an apostle. Both of them servants, called themselves servants of Yeshua the Messiah. Both of them understood that they are going to leave soon. But both of them were true servants who wanted to minister to the believers in first century. And when they knew they're going to die, they're going to leave these tabernacles, to leave their bodies here. They understood that it is important to speak the word, to share the scripture, to have the believers saturated with the word of God, with the things of God. Now notice, by the way, brothers and sisters, that Peter does not speak here about soul sleep.

You notice that? He says in verse 15, knowing shortly that I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus the Messiah has showed to me you notice he is not talking about here anything to do about soul sleep there are those people who teach us today that once you die your soul dies and sleeps and that's it you know the bible never talk about the soul sleep the bible talk about the body sleep of the believer but the soul is going to be taken immediately if one is a believer to the presence of the lord As we have in 2 Corinthians 5, absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Every believer that loves Yeshua the Messiah, that belongs to Him, when he or she dies or is sleeping, the body is sleeping, but the soul and the spirit is in the immediate presence of God. The unbeliever is exactly the opposite. Yes, the body is in the grave, awaiting the day where it's going to be resurrected into judgment, but the soul and the spirit have been taken already into a place of sorrows a place of sufferings a place that there will be gnashing of teeth a place where there will be total suffering for the unbelievers but those who accepted yeshua the messiah they can be assured that their sins are forgiven and they are going to be in a place of blessing now notice that in verse 15 he continue in 2nd Peter chapter 1 and verse 15 he's emphasized again Peter wanted that God's people will continue in the things that he had taught them and that's why he said moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance it's interesting that he use the word disease here and the word disease here come from the greek word exodus after my exiting after my going out he says after my departing i want you to be able to have all these things always in remembrance i don't know if you counted but in these four verses that we just read three times the word remembrance is mentioned.

Peter was the kind of a person who wanted the believers to remember all what he have taught them and what the Lord Yeshua the Messiah have done for them. So this is in verses 12 to 15.

Now in verses 16 to 18, Peter pointing out to the glorious experience that he had at the Mount of Transfiguration, and look, beloved brothers what he does here in these next verses he says in verse 16a listen to that for we have not followed cunningly devised fables when we made known unto you the power and the coming of our lord yeshua the messiah he's saying to the believers listen we have not followed cunningly devised fables stories human stories we didn't follow human stories and what cunning is tricky devised planned by men all sort of cunningly devised fables stories human stories when we made known unto you the power and the coming of our Lord Yeshua

the Messiah when we have shared with you what we have seen on the mountain we did not follow that which was humanly devised fables and why he's saying it because if you please turn to chapter 3 of 2nd Peter and you notice what he knows that is going to happen he says in verse 2 of chapter 3 that he may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets and the commandments of us the apostles of our lord yeshua or our lord and savior knowing this first that there shall come in the last days scoffers walking after their own lusts who will say where is the promise of his coming he

knew shimon petros he knew very well that there will be coming a day when scoffers and mockers who are going to come to the believers are going to say where is this promises that god gave you in his word nothing happened from the beginning of this earth nothing have happened we're going to deal with this when we're going to get to chapter three peter understood that there will be those who are going to come and going to say peter and you're just giving us all sort of fables cunningly devised fables you know this word for fables is mentioned more than once and you know it is so unfortunate it's happening among our own jewish people

and it happened in the professing church today and it happened in the world and its religious system there are all sorts of human stories that are being told all sorts of fables and they are cunningly devised you know satan is very cunningly devising all these things in order to lead astray many millions after him you know there are so many people today who instead of following the word of god the simple tanakh old testament and they are following all sort of human tradition and human fables instead of reading the word of god as it is instead of reading the bible god's word they are following all sort of things and no wonder look where we

are today look at the world in which we live in today hundreds of people killing each other in the main of religion hundreds of thousands of people have died in the name of religion and not only this there's all sort of religious views that people have that are merely as it says here cunningly devised fables there's also jewish fables that some of our own people would teach us rabbinical stories that are really not based upon the word of god look just turn with me to titus chapter one this verse sometimes those of us who are jewish don't like to read that but look what paul was jewish he said in titus chapter 1 in verse

14 he said to titus not giving heed to jewish fables and commandments of men that turn from the truth now paul talked about his own people the jewish people he has the right to talk about jewish people but we can say the very same thing about any group of people today but paul specifically said to titus be careful to instruct the believers not to give heed to jewish fables and commandments of men that turn one away from the truth you know unfortunately brothers and sisters why do our own people the nation of israel have the bible in the And today, the vast majority of our own people do not accept that Yeshua is the Messiah.

Why? The Bible is there. God's Spirit is available. The Messiah loves the nation. Why? Because instead of following what the Scripture says, we follow after rabbinical tradition, and that which is not Scripture, not Bible. It's happened among our people, my people, the Jewish people. It's happened in Christendom. It's happened in the world today. And that's why Peter said to them in this verse 16a, he says, listen, we have not followed cunningly devised fables. We didn't give you anything that is humanly fables. But he says, when we made known unto you the power and the coming of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. When we made this known unto you, what we have seen, and you're going to talk about it in a moment, it was not fables.

It was indeed the truth. And then in verses 16b to verse 18, he pointing out to the Messiah who transfigured before them on the Mount of Transfiguration. And he says in verse 16b, But we were eyewitnesses of his, Yeshua the Messiah's majesty. For he received from God the Father honor and glory when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory saying this is my beloved son in whom i am well pleased and this voice which came from heaven we heard when we were with him in that holy mount most bible scholars believe that this mountain the mount of transfiguration is the mountain that we call today Mount Hermon.

In fact, I believe it is the highest mountain in the land. It is called by the Israeli army that this is the Eye of Israel. And in the Psalms, it's very interesting that in Psalm 133, the psalmist mentioned the word Mount Hermon. He used the word Hermon where he's speaking about how precious, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity listen he's using in verse three of psalm 133 it is like the dew of hermon as a dew that descended upon the mountains of zion for there the lord commended the blessing even life forevermore mount hermon is mentioned because Mount Hermon is a type of the Messiah who shed blessings down to all the hills of Judea, the hills of Israel.

It speaks about the blessing that flow from God through the Messiah to the rest of the nation of Israel and ultimately to the rest of the nations of the world. And so Peter, making a reference, and he says, we were eyewitnesses, we literally have seen what happened on that mount. It was an experience that we shared with you, beloved brothers and sisters, concerning what we have literally been eyewitnesses concerning what God said about our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. And you know it is interesting because the Mount of Transfiguration experience is mentioned three times in the Barit HaChadashah, in the New Testament. It's mentioned in Matthew chapter 17, the first eight verses.

It is mentioned in Mark chapter 9, the first eight verses as well. And it's mentioned in Luke chapter 9 in verse 28 to 36. And in all these three Gospels, it doesn't mention in the Gospel of John, the writers, by divine inspiration, gave us the story of the transfiguration of the Messiah. It was such a beautiful story that I want to read to you, if you don't mind, If you turn with me back to Luke chapter 9, I want to read to you this portion, very precious. Luke chapter 9 and verse 28, we read, And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings. He took Peter and John and James, Shimon Petros, Yohanan and Jacob, and he went up into a mountain to pray.

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering. And behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moshe, Moses, and Eliyahu, Elijah, who appeared in glory and spake of his decease, of his exodus, his death, which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. But, listen to this, Simon Peter, and they that were with him were heavy with sleep, and when they were awakened they saw his glory and the two men that stood with him. And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Yeshua, Master, it is good for us to be here, and let us make three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Eliyahu.

not knowing what he said and while he thus spake there came a cloud and overshadowed them and they feared as they entered into the cloud and there came a voice out of the cloud saying this is my beloved son hear him and when the voice was passed Yeshua was found alone and they kept it close and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen imagine here is Yeshua going to Mount Hermon to Har Hermon to pray and as he goes to pray he takes with him this core group Shimon Petros Yohanan, John and Yaakov, James there was the inner circle if you will he takes them up to the

mount with them and he's all of a sudden transfigured before their eyes there was a change and as the scripture says to us his countenance was altered all of a sudden the glory of the messiah that was veiled through his body now shone through him it's what we would know as the shekinah the shekinah glory the manifestation of who he was had been revealed to them because he was the messiah he is the son of god and god had given them a glimpse of the glory of the person of the messiah yeshua of his sonship as well as of who he is and so we read that this countenance was altered his raiment was white

and glistery you know the shechina in hebrew we call it the shechina is the glory of god the manifestation of God sometime revealed in a different way.

For example, when Israel came out of Egypt, it was revealed as a pillar of cloud by day, pillar of fire by night. When Moses appeared in the presence of God on this Mount Sinai, it was the fire that the bush was not consumed while the fire was right in the center of this bush. It's the Shekhinah, the Shekhinah glory.

When the messiah was born if you remember the magis the wise men saw his star so the shekhinah the glory of god is revealed in scripture sometime as a smoke sometime as a fire sometime as a star and sometime in this case we see totally his countenance was altered and his raiment was white and the glistering was there before the apostles those three servants of the messiah now here is where i would like to make a point that i think it is very important many times people accuse peter and they say peter peter why didn't you understand that yeshua is greater than moses and eliah and they accuse him because you remember what he said

the two men talk with him moses and elijah in verse 30 in verse 31 they spoke to him about his decease that accomplished in jerusalem and in verse 32 and 33 he says that peter said master it's good for us to be here let us make three tabernacles one for you one for moses and one for elijah and he didn't know what he said and then all of a sudden the cloud overshadowed them and god says this is my beloved son so Usually, people say about Peter, he simply didn't understand that Yeshua was greater than Moses and Elijah, and he wanted to put them on the same plateau, equal, as it were, build three tabernacles,

one for you, Master, one for Moses, and one for Elijah, and oftentimes people blame Peter by saying he did not understand that Yeshua was greater.

Now, let me tell you, I don't take this position. I believe that Peter knew very well that Yeshua was the Messiah, the Son of God. He knew very well because the previous area, if you remember in Matthew chapter 16, Yeshua asked him, who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am? And Shimon, Peter said, you are the Messiah, the son of the living God. And Yeshua said to him, flesh and blood have not revealed it unto you, but my Father, which is in heaven. Thou art Peter, and upon this rock, this confession, I will build my church, my assembly. Peter knew very, very well that Yeshua was superior than these two men who spoke with him.

But what I believe, beloved brothers, will learn here from this text, what Peter did not understand, or at least did not grasp, is that before there is a celebration of the Feast of Tabernacle, we speak of the kingdom, the Messiah is going to reign, before the Messiah is going to reign, he must, first of all, go to the cross to pay for the penalty of sin.

before the glory there is the suffering before the kingdom there is the trial and the suffering of the messiah before the feast of tabernacle we have the feast of pesach he in other words Hannah wanted to bypass that and get already to the feast of tabernacle to the kingdom age notice if you go again Luke 9 just read with me the verse previous to verse 28 notice in verse 27 what it says and this is the voice of Yeshua I tell you the truth there be some standing here which shall not taste death till they see the kingdom of God what Yeshua was really saying there are some here that they will not die before

they're going to have a preview even the word preview is not mentioned here but a preview of the kingdom of God and then the transfiguration happened and then he transfigured before them and Peter understood from the words of the Messiah wow the kingdom is going to be coming and some who are presently here will not die they're gonna see the kingdom and here is the transfiguration here is the kingdom coming and immediately he wanted to build tabernacle well it's called the feast of tabernacle he wanted to build booth and the feast of tabernacle is a feast that represent the messianic kingdom where the messiah will reign and will rule in the coming days which we

read in zechariah chapter 14 where all the nations will come to Jerusalem all will acknowledge the king Messiah Yeshua in the coming days but how can you have a kingdom before the feast of Passover is going to come if Yeshua is going to reign who is going to reign over lost sinners over people that never had the question of sin dealt with so he had to go to the cross before he's going to rule and reign in the coming messianic age and that's why when it says here in verse 31 of luke 9 they appeared in glory there that spake with him those two men moses moshe and liao notice what they spoke with him

about they spoke with him about his decease about his death not about his reign but about his death and men and women people need to understand if there will be a time of blessing here in this world sin must be dealt with and sin has to be judged and it can only be judged by the mashiach the messiah himself notice how beautiful you know we have seven feasts that god have given our people Israel the first feast is Pesach the last feast is Sukkot and before Sukkot come you have to go through Pesach and Pesach is where the blood was shed where Israel were delivered out of Egypt through the blood that was shed on

the place on the doorpost and linter and that is exactly what the mistake you might say that Peter have made and that's why Peter said let us build here three tabernacle verse 33 one for thee one for moshe one for eliyahu and he did not know what he said he was thinking about the glorious king because he saw the messiah transfiguration but god had to stop him right there and that's why we read it while he spake those words there came a cloud and the cloud overshadowed them meaning overshadowed all of them and then there was a voice it says in verse 35 and there came a voice out of the cloud and this voice

said this is my beloved son ze bni this is my beloved son shani oev ahuvi and he said heal him you listen to what he is going to say and all along beloved brothers and sisters yeshua said to the disciples i must go to jerusalem i will be taken by the pharisees i will be turned over to the gentiles the gentile will take and will kill me will crucify he knew and on the third day i will rise again he already told them again and again i must go i must pay the price for sin i must go to jerusalem there to deal with the question of sin so god the father spoke audibly so

peter and the rest of them could hear where he said this is my beloved son hear him and when the voice was passed yeshua was found alone that's what god wanted to direct the attention of peter and the other disciples to one person namely to Yeshua the Messiah who was going to fulfill the work of redemption so back beloved brothers and sisters to our chapter in second Peter chapter 1 verses 16b to verse 18 he tells them all the experience that he has experienced an amount of transfiguration the amount of transfiguration experience they were eyewitnesses they saw it with their eyes you notice that but secondly if you notice it says in verse 18 they

have heard a voice so verse 18 this voice which came from heaven we heard then it says when we were with him on the holy mount we were eyewitnesses we saw it with our eyes we heard it with our ears and we presented this to you it is not cunningly devised fables it is indeed the truth of the word of god so now he's going to finalize this thought in verses 19 20 and 21 peter pointed them to the word of god that is far more solid than even the human experience god's word is superior is more sure than any human experience human experiences may be great but we don't base our understanding and our

faith upon human experience but we base our faith upon the sure word of god and look beloved brothers what he does here in these next verses he does something that i believe is very very important he's pointing out that even though a person have an experience experience that one might have whether someone said i saw a vision and i've seen this and i've seen that experience does not change for a moment what god said in his word another what he's saying that we don't base our belief upon experience but we base our belief upon the written word of god you know we sing sometime that's all the b-i-b-l-e yes that's the book for me the

bible the torah the nevi'im the ketuvim the brit hachadasha the law the prophet the writing and the new testament it is god's word and that's what we need to stand upon and so look at this verse 19 now he says these words we have also and notice he used this expression a more sure word of prophecy oh yes we show what we have seen on the mountain we show what we have heard on the mountain but we have something that is more sure than a human experience and then he says the word of prophecy where unto ye do well that ye take heed as unto a light that shine in a dark place until the

day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts he says brothers and sisters he's writing again to these hebrew christians who are persecuted away from their homeland scattered as we have this in the five locations that mentioned in first peter one and the earlier verses that i always mention in pontius galatia cappadocia asia and bithynia brethren he's saying to them in additional to the experience that we have had on the mount hermon we have a more sure word of prophecy and that is the bible the word of god god's word supersede human experience god's word promised the messiah coming in power and in rain in a coming day it is a sure word of

prophecy beloved brothers and sisters he's saying to them we have a more sure word of prophecy and he's telling them you better take heed now notice four points here in this verse 19 the first one take heed to live your life in a light of god's word take heed god's word is true it's surely going to come to pass the messiah yeshua is going to reign in the coming day and even if you have not experienced what i've experienced peter he said what we have experienced on a holy mountain the word of god is in your hand you better take heed to live your lives as believers in yeshua the messiah in light of the

truth of the word of god another thing that he's saying to them be and notice he's using this word take heed unto a light that shine in dark place that word a light be a light that shine in a world that is full of darkness beloved brothers and sisters only the believers who know the word of God who seek to live and follow Yeshua can be a light in a dark world look at the moral darkness that exists the spiritual darkness that exists here in this world so he's saying to them listen you ought to be a light that shines in this world that is full of darkness he continued here in the same verse

and he's really saying walk in that light until the day of messiah's return will dawn notice the end of verse 19 until the day dawn until when what's this day he's talking about he's talking until the messianic kingdom is going to come he's speaking about the messiah's return to reign and rule in the land of israel and all over the world he says listen until this day coming you believers in yeshua the messiah walk in that light until the day of messiah's return and finally he said in the very same verse 19 as you walk in that light the day star the messiah will arise in your very own hearts at the end in verse

19 he says and the day star arise in your hearts that's such a beautiful expression you know the day star is another title of the mashiach of the messiah of yeshua he is the star not a movie star not a rock and roll star not a football star or basketball star but he is the star that is the star for the heart of god the star that was promised already in the book of numbers where bilam said in chapter 24 if you remember of the book of numbers in verse 17 18 and 19 where bilam the false prophet who was called to curse israel ending up blessing the people of israel and he said in

verse 17 of numbers 24 i shall see him but not now I shall behold him but not nigh there shall come a star out of Jacob and a scepter shall rise out of Israel and shall smite the corners of Moab and destroy all the children of shit and Edom shall be a possession Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies and Israel shall do violently out of jacob shall come he that shall have dominion the king is coming it's a star who is going to come in the coming day it is the messiah that he's speaking about and he's really saying to these early believers he says listen you walk in that light that

you have until the day star will come in a meanwhile he's going to fill your heart and you're going to rejoice because of who this person here in another verse that i need to read in revelation chapter 22 the last chapter of the bible in verse 16 it says this thing about the messiah yeshua he said himself i yeshua have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches in the assembly i am the root an offspring of David.

I am the bright and morning star. The Hebrew word for star is the word Kochav. Kochav is that star that is shining in the hearts of every believer in Yeshua the Messiah because of who Yeshua is. He is the day star. He is the morning star. He is the star that came out of jacob he is the promised star that is shining in a coming day he will shine in this world and today he is shining in the hearts of those that have accepted him to their own hearts and that's what the apostle telling them and i'm going to close now in these verses 20 and 21 here he's setting their feet on the solid ground of the word of god he said in verse 20 and 21 he wanted the believers, to know that prophecy, that the word of God, have been given by God in the power of the Holy Spirit.

It's not come by human interpretation and human opinion. Verse 20 and 21 says, knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

For the prophecy came not in all times by the will of men but holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy spirit this is giving us an assurance beloved brothers and sisters that what we have in our hands today the scripture the bible the word of god is given to us by divine inspiration it's not given to us by human opinion and human intelligence it's not given to us by private interpretation what does that mean private interpretation private interpretation simply mean that the prophetic word did not come by or through man like somebody said here i'm going to tell you what's going to happen in the future no even the men

of god who have given to us the texts that we have in our hands today it was not their opinion it was not their thoughts and what they think and what they feel you know it had been said that over 40 writers that gave us the whole canon of scripture had been from all sort of period of time of human history all sort of various works and areas of life in which they served some of them were kings others were shepherds some of them were fishermen others were statement some were poor some were rich some were in a place in a position of authority some have been totally in a different position no authority and

no power yet all of them were by divine inspiration gave to us the word of god that we have in our hands today david said and i'm going to read that in second samuel chapter 23 and verses 1 and 2 now these be the last words of David.

David, the son of Jesse, David ben Yishai, said, And a man who was raised up on high, and a sweet psalmist of Israel, he said, The Spirit of the Lord spake by me.

It was not me, but the Spirit of the Lord spake by me, and his word was in my tongue it's not me it is god the holy spirit that spoke by me i was merely a vessel and that's why peter said in our chapter holy men of god spake as they were moved by the holy spirit of god that's the concluding word in second timothy chapter 3 and verse 16 Paul also said all scriptures given by inspiration of God and it is profitable for doctrine for reproof for correction for instruction in righteousness that the man of God may be perfect or may be mature thoroughly furnished unto all good works so beloved brothers and sisters

what is Peter saying to us today in conclusion of chapter 1 Peter is really a faithful servant desiring that the earlier believers that you and I today might continue on following the Messiah trusting his word not merely human experience and having confidence in what he said and growing moving forward until as it says here the day dawn until the second coming of the messiah and the day star will arise in our hearts what a precious lesson we can learn from the heart of this man by the name of shimon petros who wanted to minister to the believers knowing that he is going to live soon.

He wanted to establish them in the truth of the Word of God. May the Lord bless His Word to each and every one of our hearts.
